NYBG is a very professional place who have treated me so kindly. They have gained my trust. Dr. Holover was my Surgeon and I liked his style. The Nurse Practitioners are all very sensitive and very thorough. Nutritionist and Psychologist are so supportive.
I am so happy that my weight loss journey is with the NYBG. I have not been dissapointed with my choice.

Glad to have NYBG back in full business. Since last September I have lost 130 lbs. it is good to get back on track with the Doctors, PAs and Nutritionist to keep that progress going.
If there's one thing I don't appreciate in my life this point, it's a doctor's office that wastes my time. I was interested in supervised medical weight loss, and after a long wait, a ton of surgery-related forms I had no use for, and a jokeish breathing test that labeled my metabolism as "fast"(really?), I was told that the most aggressive medication plan they offered was only available after I had purchased and taken two months of their protein shakes. I think it's ridiculous that now doctors are so eager to cut patients open and alter their organs, yet are so skittish about medication that was used to great success for decades. But of course, there's more money in surgery, so that's that. I was not treated in any way as a patient- no questions, no blood pressure taken, no exam; I am actually going to contact my insurance and suggest they refuse to pay for this visit as it wasn't really medical. When I made it clear I didn't want surgery, they were no longer interested in treating me. I'd avoid this place at all costs.
NYBG is an extremely well run office. You receive personal service. All correspondences are answered in a timely fashion. They make it very easy to communicate with them. I had the sleeve procedure done in September of 2018 and I have lost 115 pounds. I highly recommend the team at NYBG if you are considering bariatric surgery. I truly believe they are the best in the area.

Poor office scheduling! If you live far, don't come here. They have no consideration toward their patients when you are traveling far. They give you appointments that they don't schedule in their computer system.... really really horrible. Do NOT recommend! Go to another office.
Highly recommend Dr. Chaio and staff at NYBG. I had an issue with one of my incisions a week after surgery and Samari, RN and Jackie, PA got me right in to take a look at it. Samari did everything she could over the phone and via email to help me and then recommended I come in to see a PA. Jackie was fabulous and made me feel very comfortable. If youre considering bariatric surgery Dr Chaio is the best! I know several people who have been under his care and love him too. 5 stars.

Doctor Garber and the New York Bariatric Group are amazing and helped changed my life. I had the Reshape gastric balloon and lost over 30 pounds in the first 7 weeks. His staff and nutritionist are extremely helpful and always available by phone or email. Before the procedure I attending one of his informational seminars which was very informative.
One of things that is awesome about the New York Bariatric Group is that they have a virtual health portal setup for patients to do their aftercare appointments. You just make your appointment online with the nutritionist and at the time of my appointment tI logon and click a link and I am connected to the nutritionist. This makes thing much easier than having to drive to New York Bariatric Group offices.
The first few days after the balloon placement it was little uncomfortable but the physician assistant Donna called me everyday for the first few days until I was feeling better without me even having to reach out to them.
Whenever I email Dr. Garber he responds to my emails very quickly, even late out at night. He even once responded to an email I sent him when he was away in Australia.
Dr. Garber has performed the most Reshape balloons in the country and told me that he actually teaches all of the other surgeons in the country.
I recommend the New York Bariatric Group highly!!!!! They are the best!!!!

I am 2 months post-op & I have to say from day 1 of my initial consult I felt very comfortable. Dr. Angstadt was very professional. Only thing is I ve only seen him the day of the consult & the day of surgery. I think that during the 3 month post op visits he should at least stop by and check up on how you doing. But definitely recommend!

Just started my journey and was very nervous, but after speaking to Dr. Garber and dealing with the staff, I am so relaxed and excited to start this journey.

A year ago I would have had a much different review of New York Bariatric Group but the unprofessionalism and disorganization of the bulking office is despicable. Each time I am told that I will receive a call or e-mail back, even by the head of billing, I never do. Instead of informing me that an insurance check went missing I was sent to a legal office and NYBG would no longer speak to me (Jackie Spina told me she would get back to me about my status when she looked into my case, but when I called told me she cannot speak with me and I must deal with the lawyers and that she was hanging up the phone). When dealing with the law firm I learn that they were told by NYBG that tens of thousands were owed which was completely ridiculous being that the check lost in the mail was for $300. On top of that they tried telling me that I would be responsible for the legal fees since they decided to forward my case onto a law firm, until the billing office realized the mistake on their end and assured me everything would be fixed and they would finish their investigation of the case. For 8 months the issue has been rectified on my end and I still have not received confirmation from them that I m all clear. Several employees admitted to me that a lot of information got lost when billing changed over their billing systems yet somehow the continued mistakes on NYBG s end become my problem even 3.5 years after my surgery. I referred 12 friends and coworkers who had their surgery after me, filmed in commercials and took part in many support groups where I highlighted NYGB and this is how I m treated. I will never use or refer them again. Terrible customer service and not worth the headache down the road.

I drove from the Bronx, left work at 1:30 pm to make a 3:00 pm appointment paid toll to cross the Throgs Neck Bridge to get to this location and when I got there they said the surgeon that had been assigned did not accept my insurance. WHAT? I did my research on the doctor assigned. You switch my doctor when I get there and then want me to come back. You say your're sorry well I am to. I'm not coming back! Omg..they had enough time to look into this. I am very disappointed right now. I will not be using this practice. I'm nervous enough without you causing me added anxiety. You have a huge practice. The cost of this surgery approx. $32,000.00 or more. Surely, you dont need this money. I will take my business elsewhere. I will be kind enough and not mention which practice who I will now make an appointment with, which I should have done to start with. Get it together! Smh.

I met with Dr. Garber and he suggested that the sleeve would be the best for me. I was terrified to have this done but all I can say is this option probably saved my life. I was originally 414 pounds and lost much of it thru exercise and plateaued at 308. My diabetes continued to get worse so I sought out the best in New York and NYBG was the place. By the time of surgery, I was on 13 different meds, one of which caused weight gain and pushed me up near 340 pounds.
On the liquid diet prior to surgery I lost about 13 pounds, so my surgery weight was 327 in Sept of 2017. It's now January of 2018 and I'm down nearly 70 pounds, I work out 3 times a week and walk and climb stairs on Saturdays. I feel great besides the nerve damage that was done from type 2 diabetes.
I'm off a lot of the meds and feeling good.
I couldn't have done it without NYBG and Dr. Garber and his wonderful and professional staff and associate doctors. They truly saved my life.
I'm still losing and the procedure I went with is working out great for me. I suggest you schedule a consultation with NYBG, ask questions and seek advice. Dr. Garber is a fantastic surgeon. I had the gastric sleeve surgery 11 months ago and I have done very well with it. All office staff is very helpful and accommodating. My only complaints are that Dr. Garber has only seen me twice, because of issues, since surgery, and you do not see the same PA each month on your follow-up visits.

I have been seeing most of the doctors here since 2005 and they are absolutely wonderful. They have all saved my life. Dr. Garber is my original Dr. And I see Donna most of the time who has been very sweet and patient with my issues. She is the best I have been hospitalized on various occasions, one time Dr. Holover has come to my hospital room on fathers day to see what was going on with me, Had nothing to do with gastric bypass, but found out my issue and saved my life from sepsis. Everyone is very caring and a wonderful bedside manner, taking their time with every patient.
