Normally I'm not too much of a fan of modern style art, but the Walker presents their art in a way that is really enjoyable to look at. Also, with many pieces you can physically interact with, it's a great place to bring kids.

They only had two exhibits over the galleries, both of which we're pretty similar and unmemorable, building has a confusing layout and the maps they provide are basically worthless. Staff seemed all pissy and not open to talk or help explain the exhibits (minus the man at the front desk who was great). We got yelled at and ordered to back up becuase we were "getting too close" to a small picture on the wall to take a better look at it (it was one of the semi interesting things up). The lady then told us that it's people like us who break thing and "cause people to faceplant which makes it a bad day". To top it off the sculpture garden, which we came to see, was closed but we were told we could go see the mini exhibit of it.

The city's premier modern and avant garde art museum. Individual exhibits may be hit or miss depending on your tastes, but you can be assured that anyone featured will be of a reasonable level of critical renown. My favorite exhibits have been retrospectives of the careers of Edward Hopper, Alec Soth, and Cindy Sherman. The sculpture garden is worth a midsummer stroll, as well.

Amazing museum for the size of our city! It s strongest point is defiantly the temporary exhibits were able to snag. Audios Utopia is a great example of an extraordinary exhibit we had here!

This review is not for the Walker itself but for the mini golf we were planning to go, but seriously, $19 per adult and $14 for my seven-year-old?
$52 to golf?
I get they have to pay the artists but that seems to be a little exorbitant.
We've golfed there in the past had lots of fun I just don't remember it being that expensive.
We did a Groupon and went down to Richfield for $18 for the three of us including $5 in free food.

Really confusing place to navigate. Honestly the art work is okayish. Some are really nice others are okayish and others just suck. It is free so that's a plus. I honestly think the park near by is better

The place is very beautiful, but I didn't identify with the place. I realized that art is not my thing. I saw a lot in the exhibition that made no sense to me. The price of food is $ 14 to enter. It will be more worthwhile if you like art a lot .. Stay away if you are not much of this art thing.

home of the famous spoon and cherry! a great outdoor gallery with lots of large and creative pieces on display.

walkable from the convention center, near a cute morning park, the outside is open and free, easy to walk and quickly see everything at any time. I went around 9am on a Monday; there were only 2-3 other visitors. things were being renovated I think, but still viewable and still lovely

I visited The Walker for it's grand reopening, and had a jolly good time. The grounds were undergoing an overhaul, and the completed areas were verdant.

The variety of sculpture is fabulous, and free admission was the cherry on top. Actually, the cherry on top was probably the cherry on Spoonbridge and Cherry.

Attended during Free Thursday event. It was not overly packed. The museum felt smaller than I had anticipated. The exhibits were engaging; the sound/painting and the video exhibits were my kids' favorites. Interactive chalk room was fun too. Mini golf on the roof is overpriced and a very small course.

Meh... After going to the Minneapolis Institute of Art.... For FREE! Then going here and paying a boat load of money for me and my 3 kids and their friend. Ill stick to the MIA! Ill admit it could have been the fact that the sculpture garden was closed at the time, and they still charged full price. But Id probably go back. lol So it can't be all that bad.

The Walker Art Center is an internationally renowned museum for a reason. Whether you are interested in architecture, contemporary art, enjoy being outside, or want a cerebral experience with like-minded people, there is something for everyone at the Walker.

The Walker Art Center is a beautiful museum filled with world-class pieces and attached to the Guthrie theater. You could easily spend a day walking through here in a very relaxed setting enjoying yourself. They also have a great restaurant in the building so you truly can make a day of it. When you go here, don t forget the step outside and enjoy many hours in the beautiful adjacent sculpture garden.

This is an absolute must for locals and visitors alike. They've recently done a complete upgrade and remodel on both the Museum and the Sculpture Gardens outside. Perfect first date spot and super kid friendly. My only recommendation is that there should be a snack and beverage vendor outside somewhere near or at the Walker Gardens.

They have awsome art displays and a nice big garden also with art diplays like the famous charry on the spoon and the new blue rooster. They also have music like rock the garden. And things for kids to do.

I've always appreciated that the Walker doesn't take itself too seriously, which is a major problem with most galleries and museums. That isn't to say there isn't some pretty thought-provoking material here, just that it's more varied than you typically find.

Free Thursdays are the best way to see all the galleries, plus you get to be in there at night, which makes it more interesting and feel less stuffy.

The crowd here skews very young compared to places like Mia, especially if you're here on a Thursday night. All in all it's pretty fun.
