Very nice remodel, wish they would have left more grass honestly than putting in Prairie plants. Thankfully there's still grass by the cherry and the spoon to have a picnic or play frisbee, etc.

Fun museum, funkier stuff than other local offerings, definitely a place to go with friends who like to think about the art, less so just run through it. Check out the free entry events that are regularly offered.

I always have a blast here. But, I keep going here with people who just want to talk about arts. Versus making it. Not even like the cool stuff, like how Salvador dali's wife would just have him sign blank pieces of paper to scam other people into buying whatever was put on the paper afterwards. Or, how Mark Zuckerberg can play a entire wind section!

1. staff working there are not helpful they all look tired and down/kept warning people not to do this/that why dont you just put rules and signs on the wall
2. very small explanation cards besides works of art sometimes people have to line in queue to look at them...massive place but needs better layout and more welcoming staff.

Some of the art was cool, but paid full price for seeing only half of the exihit space. Half of the exhibits were closed. The sculpture park made up for that however it was a free thing.

Nice

Love the way they remodeled the Garden side entrance with the restaurant and opened up what had been dark area with a full glass wall. Excited to see the outdoor work completed to fully enjoy both the indoor and outdoor spaces.

This is a brilliant museum. I would Call it a world class museum. They have a variety of installations, artwork, presentations and performances. I attended a wonderful performance here and was quite surprised by the diversity of people attending this event. Apparently this is typical. The workers are welcoming place for diversion programming and people from all backgrounds.

The Walker Art Center is OK, but not very kid friendly. During family day, staff constantly tell kids to not jump or climb on large pillows in the kid corner that look like giant stones (perhaps take them away?) Also, the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden where most kid-friendly activities are held, has NO shade. Family day is usually 10am-3pm, so the neat activities on the picnic tables are under a magnifying glass pavilion where the kids and parents roast until it's unbearable to sit there because it's TOO HOT. I brought it up to two staff members and I learned that the Walker teamed up with the Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board and they BOTH decided to have the glass pavilion. PLEASE CALL BOTH THE WALKER AND THE Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board and ask for a shaded pavilion!!!

Great place to get some exercise and soak in the vibes of the art. An iconic part of Minneapolis, make sure you get your selfie in front of the big spoon - or if that's not your thing, maybe you'd rather have a big blue cock in your selfie?

The Walker is a hidden gem for appreciators of art in the Twin Cities. Did you know that the Walker Shop is (as of writing) the only true art book store in Minneapolis? Phaidon and Taschen books sit expertly curated alongside selections from international publishers (I was very tempted by a number of Japanese imports today at very reasonable prices).

As a cultural institution, the Walker's programming combines arthouse cinema, lectures (check out the annual Insights series), traveling work like the annual British Arrow Awards, and concerts, making the place a must-visit for those who find First Avenue too loud and the Orchestra Hall too stuffy. I once saw Yo La Tengo perform a live score to a 'live documentary' of the life of R. Buckminster Fuller to a half-full room, so it's safe to say the live programming hits particular audiences well while flying well-under the radar for others.

If you're in town on a Thursday, be sure to check out the permanent exhibit - hometown retailer Target graciously will cover your admission fee.

All in all, The Walker is one of the most charming modern art collections in the country. It may not take risks like the MOCA or have a name like MOMA, but the contemplative dialogue you can have with the permanent collection will definitely make the Walker Art Center a fixture of your visit to the Twin Cities.

The gallery is open again with social distancing rules and requiring online reservations with specified times. Gallery is open for free on Thursday evenings. Currently a very odd selection of social comment displays. Way too many steps.

Took a stroll through the latest revision of the sculpture garden. Some walls have come down, and yet it feels smaller somehow. They've also done away with the greenhouse, which was disappointing. I did enjoy the wind chimes in the tree, though. And the big blue chicken is quite handsome.

This place is horrible. Modern art is shet. Sorry for people who take it seriously. I'm sorry you feel there is a hidden deep meaning to any of it. Sorry you paid $100 for that bottle of wine. Sorry you need to pretend you know culture because someone sneezed on their canvas. This is what happens when you enshrine bubbles of mediocrity and sell it to people who only buy that to launder money. The employees are rude and creepy. Anyways one star. Wait staff are great though!

Although Native American politics and culture scar the current record of this institution, the art + publications + films + education + mission of this institution are simply beyond what most institutions aim to achieve. This is what culture producers aim to have their work shown in in a democratic republic.
