This is one of the great venues in America for looking at art, large scale, 3-d/video/delicate and immense, or intimate close-up small engravings/photographs/printed matter. I took in an important exhibition on Cuban art since the Revolution (1956 to the present), - dense, magnificently placed, huge number of examples in just about every medium, but primarily, the highest quality of work. Excellent docents particularly useful for this show. The Walker is a destination point and worth jumping on a plane from anywhere to visit. Proud to have such a great place in our country for art.

Went to Winter at the Walker and it was a blast! Can't complain with a free campfire, sledding hills, a sauna, and crafting opportunities inside. It was all free. I'm giving this 3 stars though because I didn't really understand much of the art that was actually within the museum.

Cuz.

Art is about Truth, Beauty, and Goodness. The Walker "art" center's goal is to deconstruct anything to do with those virtues.
If you think you found art here, then you need to read "The Emperors New Clothes" and reflect on your life and how you got to the brainwashed state you find yourself in.
If they had a room with a brown line on the floor and said it was from a dog scraping his butt, i'm sure all the "art" fans at the Walker would gather around and marvel at the genius of it. What an utter joke.
Tear it down, perform an exorcism on the ruins, and put in a real art gallery with some actual art.

Really $30 for two of us to see a rug on a wall? Oh or the two bathrobes marked "them" and "us"? I could have vomited on the floor and drew a frame with crayon around it and called It "feeding the earth" and some liberal moron would have thought it was awesome. On Thursday mornings our garbage man has a bunch of Walker Art Center "art" in his truck as he drives by. It was an embarrassment for legitimate art lovers.

Visited on a busy Saturday to see the British Arrow Awards. Excellent! The art museum was interesting (to say the least) with several different floors of modern, contemporary exhibits. Like all art, some were better than others depending on your interpretation. Although we didn't stop in Esker Grove restaurant is the hot new dining spot in town with great views out to the sculpture park. For out of town visitors who enjoy modern art, this is a good place to visit.

Pretty boring artwork with a limited amount of pieces to view. The sculpture garden is just boring, I m sorry to say. There are only like 10 sculptures and 2 of them are cool. I d rather take a walk in Loring park. They should really sell the land so something better can be put in, that land s prime real estate and it s a shame to see it being used for such a lackluster purpose. Nothing against the employees, service was never bad when I went there.

Amazing, and diverse collection of modern art. Beautiful building, with a rooftop garden and nearby sculpture garden. Admission seems a bit pricey but when you realize that the experience of this collection opens your eyes to alter your view of the world it is vastly more affordable than a plane ticket. In a fabulous way it made me think. I was able to see events from around the world through the eyes of many others. Truly a great opportunity for all. Let yourself be uncomfortable and broaden your views and question the norm.

It may be a little strange because it is a modern art. A great place to experience new things. After seeing Sculpture Park and seeing the Art Center, the afternoon hours are plentiful. The coffee on the first floor is delicious.

Just had my first visit once the remodel and thought it was terrific. A highly accessible, education-oriented modern art museum with a really terrific collection in the heart of one of the coolest neighborhoods in the cities.

Definitely check this out if you haven't yet or if you are visiting. Inside, it has a great collection of art that rotates in and out. The new collections are fun to see.

Outside the Walker is my favorite. It's a sculpture garden with many things to see. I have been here countless times and will go again.

The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. They are protective of art (naturally), so children are welcomed but must be watched so they don't touch the art or past the lines near the art. We brought our kids here since they were little. They do have special events for families and children, which we really appreciate.

Did not feel welcome here. I was here with my wife and was confronted once for being too close to an installation that was in the center of a room that had no boundary defined, and a second time less then 10 minutes later for pointing at a framed photo. Not for touching, but for pointing. I was very disheartened by the experience.

Really fun place to visit with lots of sculptures large and small. Nice walking paths and chairs and benchs to rest and look. Parking lot at end of road where it turns to left...pay lot. There are occasionally 1 hour free spots on the street. This is a beautifully cared for, clean, and well kept exhibit. Easy to find in a quiet neighborhood. Worth a trip.

It's one of my favorite art museums! It's kind of a maze and it feels like it's made for a very specific audience. The art is very beautiful though. Go for the art, not for family friendly. EXCEPT!!!! They have free first Saturdays targeted towards families! You have to scratch the surface in order to get the real experience :)

The past few times I've visited there was only 1 exhibit open at a time. Which I can understand but definitely takes away from the experience and what you expect going into the walker. I don't love the newest additions in the sculpture garden BUT I do still love it here. The vibe of it is 100% Minnesotan. Feels like home. As an artist I would just like to see more.

Nice

Super

I love art, particularly paintings and photography. The Walker Art Center isn't my favorite type of art, being contemporary, but if that's what you like this is a fantastic place. The sculpture garden is quite nice, too.

I love this park. Theres always something new to do there during summer. You can spend a beautiful day there with family where kids can play and they have dancing bands and other events on Sunday too

We went on Thursday evening where admission is free for all ages from 5pm to 9pm. The exhibits were very interesting, intriguing, and beautiful. Then there happened to be a 2nd annual fashion show! Was awesome!! My 8 yr old really enjoyed himself, staff is courteous, and nice. One gal even got into showing him about an art piece of blank dog tags shaped as Afghanistan, with record of fallen soldiers from 2010-2014 (I may be wrong on the beginning year). And other staff would answer his questions or pique his thoughts in response. Was really neat. Also has interactive art pieces which is great too.
