Time to update this place, the rooms are outdated, lack the wow factor that W hotels promise, and not all that comfortable. The bathroom reminded me of a Holiday Inn with only the bare minimum amenities provided. Service was friendly, though slow and inattentive at the poolside bar. At this price point I expect more....

This is my new favorite bar in SD. I came here on Sunday with my sis and our pups to catch the game and we had a blast! We posted up in the patio area and had all the breakfast shots. I would recommend the maple donut one because it was delish and pretty much a little meal in itself. I also ordered the chicken and waffles and thought they were super yummy! The staff here is so nice and the ambiance of the whole bar is great. Felt like I was at a friend's house but with better food and drinks. We'll definitely be back!

Treated very poorly even with Titanium Elite status. Steak house hosted and when I called down to front desk were both rude. Tried other bar restaurant and was made to feel like I was interrupting when asking for a menu. Was auto upgraded from status to suite. Only to find no wash clothes, drinking cup or toilet paper! Horrible stay. Was suppose to stay all week but switching hotels.

The atmosphere in the hotel is very modern. The service in the restaurant was very good. The waiters and the restaurant manager visited the tables frequently making sure that the food and drink was to the client's liking.

I had dessert at the steakhouse in the W Hotel and was pleasantly surprised by how good the non-dairy options were. The options are not cheap, but that's not what you're looking for when you go to The W.

First, the room was ok, a bit warn in places but nothing to really complain about. Room service got our order wrong but corrected it. The room was quite, but the thing I want most in a hotel is a decent night's sleep. At 2 am, I woke up sweating. I realized our AC wasn't cooling the room and I just about lost it. I go to adjust the thermostat and it's locked! All it will allow us to do was turn it off - not that it was doing anything. Ended up with the windows open just to get to a tolerable temp. Not happy!

I expected a little more from the famed W. I was there during the day and I can tell the appeal kicks in more at night. However, the service was excellent. A small overlook was leaving the front doors open on a day that was so cold for SoCal it left the lobby uncomfortable to sit in for very long.

The service was very average, the pool ridiculously small, no staff to take orders around and the "lounge" areas not very clean ...
The room was spacious (suite) but aging bathroom. The hotel restaurant is too air conditioned and the prices of the dishes extremely high and not justified.
The Spa was chargeable but not very equipped.

Overall, choose this hotel if you like a lot of attitude from the staff. Front desk and concierge staff are not very friendly or helpful, but the housekeeping and valet staff were surprisingly excellent.

Location is great, but overall the property isn't worth the hassle. Food service is average at best, and expect a lot of noise throughout the property.

Been trying to check in for the past 3 hours.
As an SPG platinum guest, I am quite surprised that this hotel actually gets any good ratings.
Do not confuse for the same level of service that you would get at other W s.
This one doesn t match.

The hotel is dated, needs remodeling ten years ago. the AC is not working properly. The engineer came to lower the temperature. stairs in the front health hazard lawsuit waiting to happen just in few minutes I was there two people tripped on them they have nails and metal sticking out so watch out. Bed extremely uncomfortable. The blanket got detached from the sheet in am it looked gross. Couch in my room was torn. Carpet too much dust. Windows don't open properly. The fragrance downstairs too strong people with allergy stay away. the whole thing is just wrong. And and front desk will ask you what time you are leaving at checkout before you check in( extremely rude). not a fan. Will never stay here again. One star for location.

Had a wonderful stay at W Hotel, it's in a nice area of town Westwood Village.
Rooms were spacious and modern.
Staff in and around hotel reception/bar were great.
Only 1 disappointing thing was the attitude of staff at STK, mainly at breakfast.

We had a great stay. The room was spacious and comfortable, the staff from the front desk to the manager to the restaurant were friendly, and the location super easy. Ubers were available quickly and we went all over LA including to Usc and ucla quickly. As a platinum member I appreciate the added service. Would definitely recommend. Thanks for a great stay!

I booked this hotel due to proximity to UCLA. Full rate, no specials applied to this reservation. I arrived after a 5 hour flight with 3 hours time zone difference. The only thing that I wanted was a good night time sleep. The room that I ve got is in front of the elevator. It s a constant rumbling noise from the elevators. It s a constant noise from the street. Also you are part of any conversation on the hallway. At midnight I called the concierge to tell them that it s impossible to rest or sleep for a second in that room. They told me that they are aware of the problem but they have no other rooms available. They did not offer any earplugs or any other help. They told me that my room might be changed for the second and third night.

I had a pretty quick but pleasant stay here!

If you're doing anything UCLA oriented, this is a prime location. It was evident from a quick walk around that I was in the midst of a high end "college town."

Upon arrival I realized that I had been here before, almost a decade ago for my brother's wedding rehearsal dinner. That was my very first time in LA, so the poolside reception and the fancy stairs with waterfall effects upon entry to the lobby really wow'ed me.

Now that I've stayed at quite a few W Hotels over the years, I can say that this one is pretty on par with what you can expect from the brand. My room was hip and comfortable with comfort amenities that include Bliss products in the bathroom, mini bar, robe and of course, a very comfortable bed.

While I didn't get a chance to explore the property much, I did note the restaurant on the lobby level which offered a complimentary coffee bar in the morning.

Overall, this W Hotel provided me with the comfort and convenience I needed for a quick one night stay!

Came to dine in STK LA. Food was pretty good, but not amazing. People are really here more for the ambiance than food quality. Cocktails are good, but wine selection, especially by the glass, seems a bit lacking. You get a good variety of people to people watch. From people dressed for a night out, to legit travelers with backpacks.

Food came out quick, but we were done eating it before our drinks arrived. Keeping water refilled was also a challenge. The server indicated a number of employees didn't show up for their shift, hence the delays. Unfortunate, but it happens. The food was good and the staff were friendly.

Great location with clean and spacious rooms. Very good customer service who were willing to assist with any of my needs. The onsite restaurant had some great food/drinks and prices were actually reasonable. The only thing I was disappointed with was the coffee. Was not very good at all... good news is, great coffee was available a short walk away.

My wife and I have been using Pleasant for 6 months now and have had friendly, efficient, and on-time service each time. Typically we take to/from SFO and our apartment but we've also gotten a ride to/from Half Moon Bay.With rates at par with a cab and service and cleanliness well beyond - why would you not schedule a Pleasant ride?

The hotel itself is nice, the room as well and staff friendly.
However the bathroom starts to look a bit outdated.
Also it is surprising that in 2019 you still have to pay 14.95 per day to get wifi in your bedroom... especially when you stay 12 nights...

It's a good area for sure. You are close to In N Out the UCLA campus and Westwood village which has food options and shopping. The rooms are hit and miss I got a suite but came back down to get the studio I originally booked. Reason? The suites are kinda dark and the air conditioning was pretty loud. The studio is nice and spacious. The bed I found way too soft. My biggest criticism of this hotel is the food - sent back breakfast twice. Honestly you are better off walking half a block if that to Ralph's and getting breakfast! Save yourself a lot of cash. The next thing? The pool. Huge pool deck but such a small pool and hardly and chairs. I suppose they want you to pay $500 for a cabana... this isn't Vegas it's not worth it. I have no clue what it is with Los Angeles hotels and their very small pools it makes zero sense!!! Would I stay here again? If I wanted to be in this area it's the best hotel.

Had dinner and drinks at the STK restaurant. The crab cakes and warm cookie with ice cream couldn't have been any better! Plus the restaurant had a hip and trendy atmosphere complete with a DJ playing a trendy mix of disco and house classics.

I have stayed at this hotel many times on my frequent business trips to Los Angeles, but I won't be doing so anymore in the future because of the rude treatment I received this week. After booking the hotel for one night, I realized the next day that my meeting would be over thirty miles away so it would not be convenient to stay there, I went to cancel the reservation only to realize that I had booked a non-refundable rate online without realizing it. I tried explaining to the hotel that I was a frequent guest (something they could verify in their systems) and I would continue to be, but I made a mistake by not realizing what button I was clicking and I therefore would appreciate if they could refund the rate. They told me it would not be possible. They wouldn't do it for me or any other guest - which simply isn't true. My assistant then tried to reach the manager to kindly request assistance on the matter, but the manager has for several days now refused to take the call or return the call. In other words - a pretty clear message that customers, even loyal ones, don't matter in the least to them. So I will not be staying there ever again. This one night's booking will cost them approximately $4000/year in bookings I have been good for in the past. Further, it should be noted that the hotel as a whole is getting long-in-the-tooth so it is probably time to move on anyway.

The service at the W Los Angles is to me what sets it apart. From the moment you check in, they go above and beyond to insure you're needs are met. Stk is a nice place to grab a drink or bite to eat while people watching - which is always a great spectator sport in LA. The rooms are nice but could use some updating, but nothing that you can't look past. Keep an eye out for deals here as they run weekend specials.

I love coming here and I'm even more excited now for the upcoming renovations. I had the opportunity to join a few of my friends for a Pre-Renovation Party in the bar/lobby area, which included cocktails, appetizers and great music! The lovely Natalie Poulos, meeting and event manager for the W, really took care of us and made sure we enjoyed the evening and got us really excited for the upcoming new look. The modern changes to come will surely up the crowd numbers for guests and for those looking to have a drink with colleagues and friends. The staff at this W makes it that much more welcoming and enjoyable!

I want to elaborate on the atmosphere here. Although there will be renovations to the whole place, it is already gorgeous. You feel great coming into this place from the very beginning when you are walking up the lighted steps. There are beautiful paintings on some of the walls near the elevators. The lounge/bar area is sleek and sexy. Perfect for a drink with friends, colleagues, or significant other. The food in both restaurants is delicious, a bit pricey however. The rooms are nice, but I had the chance to see the one renovated room that is currently available and it is much more modern and bright than the current rooms. Again, the staff here is fantastic!

Even Obama liked this place when he was in town recently! You can't beat that :)

It was a good start at the W. It is right next to UCLA campus and about 15m to Santa Monica beach, so location is great. Service was good, but not excellent, it took the bell boy 25m and to phone calls to bring up our luggage. Staff was friendly. The is a great bar and patio, gets busy on weekend nights. Smallish pool, but plenty of sitting area and cabanas.

The hotel is very posh and the restaurant is amazing! I got a chance to use the spa and it was great. I would recommend it for anyone who wants to be in that neighborhood, near UCLA and get pampered. It is walking distance from everything in that neighborhood!

Dirty, smelly, and rude staff. Still dealing with getting my money back and the managers are not calling back. Even thought we didn't stay the night! Will probably have to file complaints. I would not recommend this Hotel.

Have been visiting STK at the W for a few years now and it is always an excellent meal that is exceptional quality. The atmoshpere is nice and the restaurant decor is slightly dated bougie but still very nice. The restaurant is very expensive, perhaps a little too expensive for the overall experience that you receive. Nonetheless, I would recommend STK at the W for anybody that is looking for a high quality steakhouse.

Scott knows how to pick 'em. Great place to sit down with some friends and enjoy some excellent wine. Not too noisy, you can bring in your own snacks or food from nearby restaurants. Friendly, relaxed vibe.
