Roof top bar, small bites, and a great local singer.
Super chic rooftop patio area with great happy hour. Rooms have great day beds for extra storage and a cool hole in shower water for turning on without getting in.
I am a Marriott Platinium so I have stayed at a lot of locations. The interior is very well done and the check in process is efficient. Great little speciality coffee and market location on site with ample outdoor seating. The location is well situated and in walking distance from train station and to Gaslamp and Little Italy districts which contain most of what you need.
Only a one night stay, no complaints... Nice but typical downtown hotel.
Nice, modern hotel. Room was very clean. Generally quiet with the glaring exception of doors slamming from other guest rooms. I've come to the conclusion that there are basically two types of people in this world: those who prevent doors from slamming and those who let them slam (even if by accident). Anyways, would stay again.
Cool place. Rooms and lounge area are comfortable. I will stay there again.
This place is amazing! The service to the rooms. I would recommend to try this place out if you looking for a night of luxury.
Wi-Fi is not free. Location is close to most downtown offices but is about ~15 minutes walk to the waterfront.
Was there for a black and white party....very nice location
Friendly staff, conveniently located a short walk from the gaslamp district. Staff was friendly. Rooms were decently sized.
Two separate reviews: one for staff and one for the room.
Expect to be woken up at 4:45am by noise. The walls are incredibly thin, you ll hear everything above, next to and below you (conversations, foot steps, doors, shower). The worst I ve experienced in a long time.
My shower had a reversed knob (cold is hot, hot is cold) that is branded W which is what the hotel was previously. Little things like paint not be applied fully (old blue paint splotches that weren t covered up by the new white paint). Carpet doesn t look clean - I m sure it s been vacuumed and such but it feels old. OK for a motel, not for something in this price range.
Beautiful view of the city scape and the room was amazingly well done.
Everyone was extremely friendly. The room was very nice. No complaints!
Good service, valet, clean quarters near the gaslamp
Nice room with plenty of space to accommodate my group. Friendly staff.
This is a great boutique Marriot brand hotel. Lots of touches that I love, including wonderful bed and room fixtures, rooftop restaurant, nice lounge/bar and very friendly staff. There are a few perplexing things about it folks should know for a 4 star hotel. There were really dirty common areas. I stayed for two days and my floor common areas were never vacuumed. Just debris all over the carpet. I also left my room service tray outside my room after my first night and it was still there more than 24 hours later (so maid service came and went without removing it). Lastly, the hotel seems to suffer from some kind of sewer leakage problem, as during my first day many of the common areas had an awful stench. I like to walk so location was fine for me. But it is a bit far from the tourist areas. I am giving four stars because even with these maintenance and cleaning issues, the friendly staff and modern nautical aesthetic were great.
It's a nice hotel, very clean, the staff was very nice. However, it's very expensive to park, inly offer valet, which is a huge draw back
Amazing hotel with stunning rooftop bar and lounge. Rooms were dim, but mainly due to the lamp shades. No nearby parking, so you're stuck with the valet
Excellent decor, valet parking is 24/7, food and service is outstanding.
Great spot to stay - easy access to Little Italy, Gaslamp, and the Seaport/waterfront. Room was very nice, window seat was a cool detail. The shower was nice, as was the bed. Parking 2 blocks away on Columbia is only $25 a night and even saw a garage on India St that was even cheaper.
The hotel was clean and very modern. It was a great venue.
Beautiful hotel and all staff courteous, kind, and accommodating. Will use again!
This is a lovely hotel and the staff are fantastic. If we come to San Diego again, we will definitely stay here again!! Margaret Mayfield
staff is great, hotel is clean and pretty--but the halls are loud, you hear every door slam three rooms away from your bed. And I can't understand why Marriott loves these bathroom barn doors that leave about 1" open on each side when they're closed! You can literally see (and hear) someone on the toilet...with the door closed. Pull it further, and you can see in from the other edge. No bueno.
I really love this hotel. They have a beach (i.e,. san) rooftop bar which is very nice and relaxing. However, the pictures on this site are not the W. This is a Quality Inn (Weird).
This place is awful. It used to be the W, which was an exemplary hotel. Now, they have switched staff and changed their mentality. They do not cared to their customers at all. They don't do anything that even resembles decent accommodations. A few examples: I needed ice, no ice bucket in the room...I called down, received the ice about an hour later, after I had forgotten I even asked for it. I took a cab home from a night out, ran inside to get change for a $20 bill, they couldn't do it. The people that work here don't know up from down...every employee seems to be in training. It's pathetic. Do not stay here unless your only other option is to sleep in a sewage tank.
I am not exaggerating, this place is awful. For the money, you can literally stay anywhere else and it would be better. Hope this review helps you make the right decision.
Hidden gem in downtown San Diego. Rooms are very modern and updated. Bathrooms exceptionally clean.
Hotel staff very courteous and knowledgeable about the surrounding area.
$45 to valet park is highly unreasonable, but not enough to detour us from staying here again.
Service is great at this modern styled hotel! They have a very cute little restaurant that may seat around 20 and maybe 10 more could stand. The lounge is unique and beautiful with its wood art lights. If you have status there is a club on the second floor where you can get drinks and snacks and breakfast. The fitness center is also located on the second floor. The hotel does not have a pool, but the bay and ocean are close by. Rooms are clean and bright with basic amenities. There was a window seat area in our room where you can use as a couch to seat around 4 people or use as another bed (length is around 8 ft).
This place is clean, staff are nice and helpful. We had a good stay...
Exceptional and attentive staff. Allowed early check in and late check out, which was a huge help with our flight times. Got me a sewing lot right before a big event and a toothbrush when I forgot one. Delicious water in the lobby and gorgeous setting. Perfect wedding venue!
Modern clean hotel, not too far from Little Italy. My go to for my trips to San Diego
Hotel is nice. Staff is attentive. Nicely decorated lobby. Would stay there again.
The location and atmosphere and staff were delightful. The only complaint I have is that the walls are incredibly thin. I'm sure just an old building, not much you can do about that. Hearing other people's alarms and sexcapades isn't super awesome....though relatively hilarious. Haha.
Amazing hotel. Stayed 3 nights for work. Hotel staff has been great from the front desk to the bellmen. That was nothing compared to Luce, however. They do it right at the restaurant. Great food, incredibly attentive waitstaff. Leadership is obviously doing amazing things here. Best hotel that I've ever visited.
Honestly I want to give this a 3.5 but there are no half points. Overall this is a clean hotel with good size rooms, comfortable beds, and a so so breakfast. Yoga mat is given with the room because they have a Saturday yoga class which is nice. The reception can be over-friendly when checking in which means being asked questions that you don t have the energy to answer. I like my check ins short sweet and simple. Would stay again though :)
Really liked the hotel. It was very nice and clean and felt brand new. The showers had the overhead do it was like rain which you don't find in many hotels and it's awesome. The location is great and San Diego has bicycles everywhere you can use on the street for next to nothing. I would stay here again for sure.
This hotel is in a great location in between the gas lamp area and little Italy. It s close to the airport and the USS midway. As soon as you walk in you are wowed by the decor, it has a warm, cosy feel to it. It s very relaxed but also feels luxurious. It was great value for money. Our room had a view of the ocean and there was a really cool box window feature that was great to relax on.
The room was very clean and spacious. It had a lovely deep bath and bath robe. The bed was extremely comfy. There was a fridge and coffee machine, which they were very helpful when we requested more supplies. We had drinks at the bar which was busy in the evening with some quite background music on. Breakfast and coffee was great too. Highly recommend this hotel. Wish I d taken more pictures!
This hotel is clean and comfortable. It has a modernist design that is either a narcissist's fantasy or trap. Mirrors are everywhere... other than the ceilings. Not really my style, but I like the people and it's comfortable. I would stay here again.
There is no parking for hotel. And if you want parking $ 67 !!!
Nice and clean hotel. No pool and had to pay for wifi which I was surprised about, but otherwise, lovely staff and neat place with a convenient location.
Very clean hotel, accommodating, and fantastic location close to our event and gas lamp district.
Great! 2nd time here. I did an entire proposal set up for my brother here Josh Snyder (hotel manager) made my brother and his fiance weekend a memorable one. Upgrading their room allowing late checkout. Topside staff Nicole was amazing Alan the engineer was accomodating! TOP NOTCH!
Excellent customer service and the rooms are lovely. Very clean and beds are very comfortable, slept like a log. My only issue was with the high speed internet. Even paying for the highest speed option gave me very slow speeds that made it almost impossible to download a 10MB file.
It's like the W has been resurrected without the D-BAGS drenched in Drakkar Noir. Great staff, beautifully appointed rooms and chill vibes.
The rooftop bar is great! There's a really spacious bar, lots of seating, and the fire pit is great!
Staff was amazing. Bar had great food and drinks. Perfect location - just close enough to everything, but still quiet. Easy access to beaches, downtown, restaurants & bars. The club lounge was nice, with a private outside open air patio. The rooms are not overly spacious, but you shouldn't be spending all your time inside in SD anyway. To top it off they rent high end motorized scooters (for a reasonable fee) that put Lime and Bird to shame. Overall a great experience!
On a Monday morning, it was difficult to find an open Breakfast place! Republic to the rescue! We shared a huge chorizo omelette and a side of bacon. Our server didn't bat an eye when I had to make a special order for no mushrooms (allergy). The food, was tasty and fresh and abundant. The service was stellar!
All the best features of a boutique hotel, with the amenities of a conference hotel. I loved the proximity to both little Italy, the Gaslamp quarter, and the convention centres downtown.
Its different, its creative, fair prices and its in downtown San diego
This is the former W hotel right next to the new courthouse in San Diego. The staff was pleasant, helpful and courteous. The beds, bedding and pillows A+. Nice bar, great appetizers. A great spot for a romantic weekend.
Celebrated our first night of marriage staying at this hotel and the staff was absolutely amazing. They went above and beyond to make sure our stay was unforgettable. The front staff upgraded our room, surprised us with champagne and strawberries, and left a sweet card signed by the staff. We accidentally locked ourselves out and they fixed it for us right away. The rooftop bar was beautiful and drinks were delicious. Every single encounter we had was so friendly and positive. Highly recommend this place. Special shout out to Shauna at the front desk who started it all!
The rooms and service we're incredible. There is a great rooftop bar which was the first is San Diego. Fantastic drink selection and the food is great as well. I would definitely recommend staying here if you plan to be in downtown San Diego
Nice rooms, but 2017 and $10 a day for Wi-Fi is crazy, also no fridge/mini bar and $50 a night hold for what?
Over priced. $40 plus for valet a night or try to find a place on the street and still have to be up early to move your car again. Kelvin is a beautiful restaurant but food is over priced. $8 for ONE egg no sides just 1 egg
Gorgeous hotel and rooms! Streaming options built into TV! Fast internet!
Super clean stylish rooms and a great cocktail bar in the lobby.
Beautiful room, wonderful service and has access to Netflix YouTube etc.
Nice decor, clean and works well. Close enough to gas lamp
Classy and well appointed. Friendly and helpful staff.
Excellent boutique hotel in San Diego. Beautifully appointed, super friendly staff. Will definitely stay here again.
This is still my favorite hotel in San Diego. The rooms, lobby, and lounge are all so much more modern than any of the other Marriotts in the area. My only complaint is that there is no self parking and vallet was $51 per night...that's completely crazy. It is close to Santa Fe Depot but not too many restaurants, so if you want to park somewhere else with no in and out privileges that might be an option. Other than that, there aren't too many restaurants super close, but you're also not super far away from anything. It's definitely possible to jump on a Scooter and make your way to gaslamp, seaport village, or little Italy.
I must have walked by it. Nothing remarkably bad, so it must be good!
Hotel was nice and in a great location. It was under construction while we were there, some parts of the hotel weren't accessible, but I'm sure it will be even nicer when it's done.
Expensive parking and no concierge lounge. Valet was the only option for parking at $47 per night. Valet guys were pretty slow too.
They don't put your receipt at the door the morning you check out like every other Marriott so it took a long time. Rooms were decent enough and the location is nice and central to everything.
I would highly recommend. Very clean, great food and close to the harbor.
The lobby was beautiful, and check-in was fast. The rooms felt cramped. For the price there are better options.
Great staff, have a sick rooftop with a fire pit. Live music in the lobby sometimes. Rooms are clean, yuppie vibe. Lime scooters usually outside. We enjoyed our stay!
Great hotel. Clean. Only caveat is the $47 per night parking but it has unlimited in and outs. Still had a great stay.
