Very professional staff at the VU medical center. I have been helped very well and I always have a lot of admiration and respect for the nursing staff. I always find driving there difficult given the crowds at that point, but otherwise nothing more than praise.
After 3 months. hassle in another hospital without clear result, I was forwarded, I could choose AVL or VUMC, it became the last one, very happy with expert treatment, loving care and result, I am very grateful to everyone, all staff on ENT, Oncology, Radiotherapy and certainly also the staff of the Transfer Department ...
The staff are so friendly. I am very pleased with the good communication and certainly also the good care. Top
Emergency is very good here ...They are all here professional and nice also
Very unprofessional organization run by medical students. Simple actions such as forwarding a medical file are too much to ask.
I call to make appointment. It takes very long time for them to answer the phone. When the phone is connected, the receptionist is so RUDE. Then I understand why some reviews here mentioned about the rudeness in this place. Awful service! If I have other choices, I will go to other hospital
Quality of care is good. Only you feel like a number (very impersonal experience with specialists). The feeling that you have to go after everything yourself and ask.
Excellent received and treated at my 1st appointment. Fortunately I was informed by telephone that I was expected on December 31, because I just received the letter of December 27 in which this appointment was confirmed on January 2.
Looks the same as any hospital. Has a calming atmosphere.
Don t bother with getting help here, was told to wait 3 weeks before they decided if I need medication! Had to leave the country to get professional medical help!
I've only ever written a review about one other place which was a Chinese restaurant that had a mouse in our noodles. This experience was easily worse as I was on hold for 30 minutes total until I reached the line needed. Whilst obviously in pain the nurse was making poor jokes and couldn't help me regardless of the line being what I needed. This experience was worse than the ear infection itself.
I have been waited for over a year for them to send me the invoice (which I really need in order to claim the cost to my insurance company)..... Tried to contact them via phone and e-mail but never really worked, horrible system!!!!!
Were visiting. Were treated well and very friendly!
I was always satisfied with the VU about the good story that my friend told about it but yesterday I felt very let down I really did not feel well had it very tight and asked the doctor in training for a recording he she dir I'm going to consult with the doctor then the doctor in training came back with the doctor looked after my age and said there is nothing wrong go home I asked him can you at least make an ECG this would not then I immediately went to another hospital without an academic and they immediately made an ECG because they saw that it really did not work anymore Ultimately made 3x ECG with 3x the same result my heart turned out to have an oxygen deficiency I was immediately hospitalized and examined never again the VU for me because I am young and they have previously done research and have found nothing I am really sorry I asked the doctor for a day admission and to examine me extensively hey you can say that a normal hospital can be even better than the VU I have all the time paid personal contributions for nothing I am really angry because this could have ended differently I also immediately called the reception where the woman neatly apologized and that that indeed is not possible what the doctor has done she sent him an email with the request to call me back the bastard unfortunately never did this
Cleanliness and care by professional staff and doctors with high experience ..
The devices are modern and free of charge
Heal lung and colon cancer in V U. Money donated for research. Great Doctors and nursing.
The doctors here saved my life. I came in after being struck as a pedestrian in a severe vehicular accident. I received prompt care from professional, competent doctors. I am very grateful to them.
However, the nurses were either amazing or terrible nothing in between and they often verged on terrible. I do have to admit that I suffered in this hospital a lot.
Just some examples: On the first day, I had a nauseating headache from a severe concussion. The nurses, who were working in a trauma ward, took no precautions to help ease the pain. Instead, they were very loud and they wheeled me down for an X-ray, leaving me under bright lights next to a patient who was screaming. I have never experienced worse pain in my life. My face felt like it was burning, so I asked a male nurse to tell me if I was running a high fever. He smirked, don t worry despite your accident, you re still hot. Then I was left under the bright lights, next to the screaming man, until another kind nurse noticed how much I was involuntarily writhing in pain and wheeled me back upstairs. I had been downstairs for twenty minutes, in conditions that caused me excruciating pain.
Other nurses would chastise me for ringing the bell at night if I needed to use the bathroom. They said they had too many patients to take care of. So I would not be able to sleep at night, since I could not walk by myself and since many of them would not help me. After a few days, I began to develop bedsores. I asked for a small pillow to put under my back. The nurses refused. One of the nurses was especially terrible she would wake me by grabbing my shoulder, which had a broken bone in it, and shaking me. Then she would sing: Uppy, uppy! like I was a child. I would ask her to stop, tell her that she was hurting me, but she d do it again. I spent my stay absolutely exhausted, nauseated from lack of sleep.
They would also engage in activities which I later learned had put me at risk of infection. There are too many to list, but key among these was washing my wounds, which had staples. My orthopedic doctor later saw my staples and was aghast some of them has begun to show signs of rusting and could have become infected. They also should have been removed, but were neglected. Apparently, staples are meant to be kept dry and someone with recent surgeries involving staples should not be getting showered.
On my last night, a patient was admitted to another room. He was screaming they were the horror-movie screams of somebody who was terrified and in severe pain. The nurses would not go to him. I saw a nurse roll her eyes when he screamed.
However, I did have several nurses who lit up my days when they would come back. Most of the student nurses were amazing, and a lot of the nurses who (I don t know how else to say this) were not white but rather of African or Middle Eastern origin were wonderful. These individuals showed me compassion and kindness. Especially amazing was a young nurse who I think was named Margot. She tried to do everything to help me be comfortable. I felt so much joy when she was around, because I knew that she would make time to help me. I also had a few other nurses who were memorable a young girl in a hijab, an older woman of African origin, a young man of African origin, a blonde nurse who came the first two days I was there, and a young man with brown hair who came with her. The young man did research on his own time to help me understand how I came to be injured. I think of these nurses every day and I am grateful for them.
So, I give this hospital 3 stars as an average of the 5 stars for the doctors and some nurses and 1 star for the nurses who were cruel, abusive, and negligent. I strongly urge the owners of this hospital to take a closer look at how their patients are being treated, especially in the trauma ward. I appreciate this high-quality facility for saving my life so, so much. But I also went through a week of hell while I was there and it should not have been that way.
EDIT - Thank you to the business for responding.
It took quite some time for the diagnosis result of my blood, but staff is very friendly, speaks good English and understood my situation very quick.
For me it is a great hospital where I always receive good and professional help.
The level of incompetence is astounding. And this is not a particular doctor, it's a range of them. I and my family had an unfortunate luck to be their patient for mid 2015 - mid 2016 and we have gone through in total around 20-30 doctors/assistants. Not only were they rude, extremely incompetent, but they were not even trying to mimic that they wanted to help or even get into the problem ranging from simple headache, high temperature all the way up to some complicated allergy case with constant allergic attacks and sleepless nights in emergency ward. The whole process was: you register one month before, you get appointment, you sit through it for 10 minutes then you are sent back (rudely) home with nothing or paracetamol at max. For every single case. Classic. You have to battle them out through your insurance client support, constantly complain as the only way to get a mediocre level service at max. It's a shame.
Unlike Josh and Mayrisa i think the VU deserves the highest rating possible. Professional, helpful and kind staff. Try and go and see what service you get in the rest of the world and compare. The staff of VU saved the life of my son, was immensely kind and did their utmost to do what was within their capacity. Hospital staff deserve more credits, appreciation and respect. Thank you.
Friendly and professional. And they save lives. Would highly recommend.
Am unfortunately too often included in the VUmc, with numerous operations. Something went wrong sometimes, but in the end everything was solved. It remains the favorite hospital for me. Unfortunately, long waiting times ....
The VUmc always remains a good hospital for me. Sometimes have a complaint, but that is always solved in a pleasant way. Where people work, mistakes are also made.
Good hospital, just a pity that they do not comply with the law! Adult women with niqab walk completely covered in the children's ward with their husbands and children.
I have now been assisted for the second time in a very professional and efficient way. And one day I was born, but I don't remember much about that.
But seriues: I am now on the first heart help. Fantastic people, I feel in excellent hands.
Interns: you work for free and "they do not publish master's students" even if you do all the work. 2 publications and no credit for me... try the NKI or Sanquin instead.
Had a very disagreeable experience at the KNO department, couple of years ago. There was a subtle swelling inside my nostril, right at the tip of the nose (emission of fluid). It had been giving me pain for some time. The assistant said she could feel it and see it but the doctor (or was he?) simply waved away my claim and silenced the assistant. I was sent packing.
And I shall also NEVER forget that the head of the Neurology department told me point blank (somewhere in the nineties) that my carpal tunnel syndrome was "between my ears" (quote: "Het zit tussen uw oren") - and honestly that is the stupidest answer, for any affliction, and notably for this one.
And then, point 3, a team consisting of a surgeon, an anaesthetist, another doctor and three nurses lacked the professionalism to handle my demented mother coming for a cataract operation.
To the rep. from the VU who posted a response: I used the email address you provided to lodge a complaint. That was over the past weekend. However, the unprofessional treatment I received from Dr. Scheltens ("Het zit tussen uw oren") can never be undone, nor the debacle of my mother's cataract operation. Leaves the third unprofessional incident around the treatment of my infected nostril.
Update: Just today, March 23 2018, I had a very pleasant conversation with the complaint mediator connected to VUmc. Two cases are too old and have expired. However, the case of my troublesome nose is still within the expiry date and a solution has been suggested, which I shall act upon gladly. I would like to say to the VUmc management: count yourself lucky with such great people as the mediator who took my complaints.
Samenvattend:
Slecht ontvangst
slechte voorbereiding
Slechte IT omgeving
Je word niet teruggebeld
2x voor niets afgereisd naar dit ziekenhuis.
Parkeer kosten gemaakt en tijd kwijt
Experienced qualified doctors and nurses, hygienic very nice and friendly people good job guys keep it up, and thank you very much.
I just wanted to say that the doctors and the nursing staff in the VU hospital are really great, have been in different hospitals, but the friendliness and service is really great. Girls are all great toppers and the surgeon Mr. Winters is a real artist. . Thanks for the good care and especially continue. Mvg Ria from Merkestein Holleman.
Amazing staff! Sweet, patient, helpful and understanding even during a the night shift. :)
Best hospital ever really true if you have something right to UMC
I have dental problems but I am very expensive and I do not have enough health insurance to do what I should do
PLEASE learn not to miss the vein when taking a blood test! Both times an extremely painful and bruisful experience. Never had this sort of awful blood test experiences at home in France. You deal with human beings and they have a misfortune to feel the pain, learn how to do your job.
PLEASE take into account that a woman, even if she is in a situation of illness and despair might not be happy to show her genitals to the interns while having an ultra sound. A little sheet to cover her must not be that expensive.
Well the do a good job here so what is there to say, only would say watch out with water, parking lot structures tend to not like that to much, just a tip
Can I also get treatment for my transgender thing here
in this busy and hectic time there was still room to help me. The people are super friendly. Nothing is too much for them. Top team
Questions asked via "My file" will not be answered. You get no response at all.
Medical Care with large letters "m" and "z". Respectfully treated. What I especially like to talk about is communication in order to remedy your ailment. Suggestions that lead you to a medical complaint are treated with understanding to exclude certain things and to come to healing. A hospital that gives confidence and is prepared for the future.
With one of the finest Emergency departments in the country!
Parking ridiculously poor, after 30 minutes of searching after a parking space, was p2 closed?
nevertheless it is a medical center but has a nice library where you can study
For me first experience with hospitalization department Cardiology / Heart monitoring.
Hospital stay is not fun but due to the expertise, friendliness and openness of the team, my stay in this department went as smoothly as possible.
A big thank you to everyone. Cardiologists, nurses and other staff
I came by to KNO department in March 2017 to be referred to a surgery. I had several appointments with doctors assessing my health etc. and I was told I had to wait for a maximum of 3 months to get it done. I called again in July to see if my date was coming up and they told me it'll be in October. I called today and some random person told me its going to be NEXT YEAR (2018)SPRING!! are you out of your mind?! THIS IS NOT A HEART SURGERY!! TOTAL DISGRACE to make ppl wait and LIE to them about the times. Horrid attitude!
Nice people, good food :) a long wait but free chocolate
The nurses are really great, the same also counts for all other employees in the hospital. Then why 4 out of 5 stars? One doctor had the arrogance to say that the pain I had after the operation was not too bad when I literally almost passed out from the pain. Anyway, both the nurses and I were quite angry about this that he reacted so lax. In other words, the doctor in question has been downcast, because that's not how you treat your patients.
Come here for a second opinion and they have done nothing but look at the pictures already taken (by a young unfriendly student)
I can't get out of bed because of the pain and tell them there's nothing wrong
Because of this hospital I can no longer go with my pain
I really like how you are treated here
My son tries to get in touch with his internist from mid-March. Every morning he calls and it is always said we send the doctor an email you will be called back Sometimes he also calls late in the afternoon because he just doesn't hear This goes on for a week and a half And then they say at the end of March The doctor is on vacation for 2 weeks My son then contacts his doctor because he has a terrible burden She advises the internist to contact him immediately as soon as it is back .. This was last Monday April 10 And again it continues in the same way "we send the doctor an email you will be called back .. And yes ..! Wednesday afternoon the doctor called .. !!!! (a month later) And my son is too vacuuming did not hear that phone call right now: (The physician has voiced it, that he will try again later .. Thursday afternoon my son will call again, and again about that e-mail, and heard nothing again, now it is Friday 14 April, and he tries o new .. Closed due to Good Friday .. Monday call again no Tuesday even because Monday is Easter Then he has been trying to reach the doctor for 5 weeks: (Oh yes we are just ordinary citizens
It was our first experience in Netherlands, and of course it is better to be healthy and never visit a clinic, though as it happened, we are absolutely satisfied.
Last weekend very professionally and quickly helped with burns. Tribute to the care staff, especially at this time, and your positive attitude! I would almost like to say, we would like to come back ... :) A lot of strength for you in this period!
After 14 years finished and if I would still like to rehabilitate ...... !!! I wanted to do that from the beginning, but once you're a traumatology and neurology case, they apparently want to see how long it takes to see enough and then send you away.
I find the staff in the department ic very friendly and involved and very competent.
A very well equipped hospital. Especially the lung oncology department wants to do everything for you. The same applies to the doctors there. Perfect.
They say registration should be done 30min before the appointment, but then the appointment itself got delayed by 30min more. No respect of time or consideration for patients.
My friend, I am from Jordan. I have been suffering from 14 years of illness since I did not give him treatment inside Jordan, and I also did not try to search outside Jordan because our physical situation is very bad, but I hope that you will treat my condition and treat it with a humanitarian situation and hope that it will be delivered through you. Treatment and thank you
The worst services ever. I have a chronic disease. I went to the emergency gp. The lady from the front desk was really rude. She was discriminating me from the beginning because I am expat. She didn't even want to provide me any appointment More
Excellent organization with highly skilled employees / scientists. Curing is a good goal, although education and research are important goals.
Very professional staff at the VU medical center. I have been helped very well and I always have a lot of admiration and respect for the nursing staff. I always find driving there difficult given the crowds at that point, but otherwise nothing more than praise.
It is a modern hospital, but it is better if you can stay away because you are in good health.
