Een geweldig ziekenhuis! Ik kom er nu precies 3 jaar. Mijn ervaring met de specialisten longziekten, KNO en de onlangs overleden kaakchirurg Baart, die bijna letterlijk dag en nacht bereikbaar zijn, is top. Een extra vermelding voor de schatten van de afdeling radiotherapie is absoluut op zijn plaats. Over het algemeen is de sfeer in dit ziekenhuis prima en de persoonlijke benadering uitstekend. VUmc wil het beste oncologisch centrum van Nederland/Europa zijn. Ze zijn hard op weg die claim waar te maken.

Helaas toch ook nog een negatieve ervaring. De afdeling dermatologie ben ik zeer ontevreden over. Ik heb geklaagd en het hoofd van de afdeling gaf me gelijk. Voor mijn huid ben ik inmiddels bij een ander ziekenhuis.

VUmc is a university medical center. This means that doctors, specialists and nurses are being trained alongside the treatment of patients and that scientific research takes place. There are 50 departments in Vumc. This center can be reached easily from Amsterdam zuid or easily accessible with Tram, Metro or bus.

Had so much stomach pain in the weekend. At the front counter wanted to send me away so unfriendly horrible experience don't want to say but I'm am expat (racist) in my opinion ! The second lady also wanted to do nothing, I had to argue with her which in pain not nice so cruel people who work in the healthcare should like what they do and care about the patient.
Speaking the lingo with a accent having insurance paying Dutch tax unbearable.
I was persistent and only then was seeing to such unfriendly staff I'm shocked to say the least. Let's stop this behavior and treat ppl human.

My father (87 years old) was rushed to hospital yesterday. Since this year it is impossible to get in touch with him or a nurse from outside by phone. He is unable to make calls himself. This means that contact is impossible. I am his medical supervisor and make decisions about treatments with the doctors and my father. This has now been made impossible, shame !!! I would hold VU Hospital liable in advance for the consequences!

My Brother had a heart attack a few days ago at the Airport. Luckily, in line to get on the plane...two french doctors in line also to get on the plane were there to take immediate action. His heart stopped. The paramedics at the airport there in seconds to give CPR. Basically he was dead.. and worried about brain damage due to lack of oxygen. Revived...Taken to the Hospital straight into the operating room to put stent in a burst heart blood vessel. Used a new technique to lower body temperature to ease the brain damage. Couple days after defrosted him. Hence, some short term memory loss but few more days later getting better. His full long term memory returning. This is a world class Cardiac hospital. Thanks all the doctors nurses and staff. The two french doctors and the Airport Staff and paramedics.. he is still there at the moment in observation.

Bad communication, high costs afterwards (+6 months) and you are simply not being helped properly.

This hospital offered very good expertise and service in the area of allergy testing (common allergens as hayfever, cats and dogs by "sprinkle/dot testing" but also chemicals and preservatives such as MCI and lanolin done by patch testing).

They've recently (2015) suffered damages of a water leak which resulted in very long waiting times (6 months for a referral). Hopefully they'll get their act together and shorten waiting times.

I myself have been to stomach department (maag afdeling). For 5 months they were not able to diagnose what was wrong with me. In that time I lost 15 kg and I m a thin girl. They didn t have a small idea what was happening to me and I believe they didn t also see my case serious enough for their precious time. I took the copy of my test results and sent to a doctor in another country. In 1 day I was diagnosed. (So apparently it was a serious thing that could be solved with a small medication) I was given medication and my problem was solved. I m healthy again. Worse happened to my Dutch partner, he has been to two departments for his problems. Once he was throwing up liters of blood, they tried to send him back home. Since we objected against going home, they accepted to give him endoscopy. He had a f* hole in his stomach. If we hadn t objected and if I had not demanded for him to get an endoscopy immediately, they would have sent my partner back home and he would have been bleeding to death! It s unbelievable that they call themselves doctors here!!! medical knowledge is very poor. It makes you feel so unsafe!

Excellent hospital with friendly, skilled employees who do their utmost to get you out of the hospital as best as possible. Only the reception staff at the clinic are allowed to act a bit more fearfully. Both those with X-rays, as well as those at reception plastic surgery (V). In occupational therapy, on the other hand, they are again very friendly and helpful.

Very bad experience with this hospital. Patient safety is not a priority here. Had emergency surgery and called the clinic, doctor would call back in a few days. I couldn't call earlier, with the risk that I would have to go to the emergency room for the third time if I was in a lot of pain. Doctor called wrong number.

Very bad experiences at VUmc. Department of Cardiology re: heart ultrasound

It's a big hospital, not many attempts have been taken to make it even a bit more cosy.

I have been working 8 days to get an appointment at desk M rheumatology still have not succeeded

After a few years of deleting my wisdom teeth, I decided to take the gamble because of holes that were difficult to treat for my own dentist. I chose VU Mc and first let one, then three wisdom teeth pull. The staff was very professional and friendly. I have to give my compliments to my treating doctor; he talked me through the treatment and occasionally let me breathe in and out as deeply as I was anxious or fainted with nerves. I think I have overcome my fear of the dentist with this!

Called the Clinical Genetics Department. Hindu lady answers without mentioning her name. I have been treated very rude. I called to make an appointment and was told that the referral should be sent first. That is policy I assume and she cannot do anything about it, but then she reacts annoyed when I ask where I should send that referral letter? Good thing I asked because this address (answer number) is not on the website! My reference letter was certainly lost. Not thinking at all. The empathic ability is hard to find. Too bad, considering that she works in a HOSPITAL. Scandalous. Rude and stupid.

I called the Genetics Department and a Surinam Indian lady picked up without mentioning her name. I was spoken to very rudely. I called to make an appointment and was told I first had to sent the referral letter from my doctor. This is policy and I cant blame her for this but when I asked her where I need to send this referral letter to she was very irritated. Its a good thing I did ask because the address is not the same as on the website and would surely have been lost somewhere. She showed no attempt of wanting to help out. A complete lack of empathy which is sad considering she works in a hospital (which is for people who are ill and need all the empathy they can get!). Disgraceful treatment. Rude and plain ignorant.

I have been admitted for 50 days. (6B) + IC. Very nice and sweet nursing, doctors and other employees. I want to thank them for taking good care !!

1.waiting time on phone to talk to personel takes forever .
2. Continuous contradictory information from personel
3.Dont give sufficient information on the steps to follow or next appointments you have to keep on calling
4.There are long processes that work in slow motion to go through before getting worked upon now put the long process and contradicting information together(both vumc and amc).On a bright note,its really clean.

I was there yesterday and I was treated like garbage. And the infection I have in my mouth will leave me as long as I say that I had no vacancies in the operating rooms. DR A BINS AND YOUNG PEOPLE. N KNOW HOW TO DO THE DIRIVATED WORK AND STAY JUDGING PEOPLE ... WHERE IS IT SEEN IN FULL SECULO21 .... DR BINS STILL HAS A LOT TO LEARN ABOUT MEDECINA ...

Very bad that a taxi that is urgently sent by the pharmacy at the emergency post is apparently sent by a new security guard, should a medicine be allowed to arrive at a patient as a result of this action of the relevant security, then that is the responsibility of the latter. The service pharmacy does not just order a taxi to do this urgently. In any case, it would be highly desirable for VUMc to do something about affordable parking policy for visits to the hospital. After all, you won't get there for fun.
Nine out of ten times, there is no place on the upper deck to stand even for the weekend!

I will explain my response later, really make a complaint, or healthcare support is of no use, as everyone here gets an answer to the bad reviews. Doctors are so well protected, nothing is done with it. I am glad that I am being treated in another hospital.

VU University Medical Center Amsterdam is the university hospital affiliated with the VU University Amsterdam. VUmc consist of several buildings that are interconnected. Admission usually takes place at one of the care units in the hospital building at De Boelelaan 1117. Some examinations or treatments take place in the outpatient clinic, situated acrss from the hospital building, at De Boelelaan 1118. Very friendly stuff and good service. It is never nice to go to the hospital, but it can make your visit much nicer if you at least have a friendly people who can assist you with your visit. My experience was very nice, even thought I am still in pain (the day after) since they took my wisdom teeth out. Every one i met in this hospital act very professional and friendly. They have their own pharmacy, what it makes really handy especially if you wanna to get your medications immediately.

Well arranged around corona. Even in the parking garage. Ok that's being bypassed.

It s never fun going to the hospital but the doctors and nurses here help make the best of it.
