I've really enjoyed Van Gogh experience throughout his works. No regrets

We are all lovers of art to certain degrees. Van Gogh s Sunflower and Iris are so prolific that we take them for granted. Visiting the museum thought, gave us an opportunity to delve into the person that is Van Gogh, his humanity, his struggle and how he viewed the world.

Tips - book your ticket online in advance. You won t be able to enter the museum until the time on the ticket, so if you were planning to eat in the museum prior to seeing the paintings, you will not be able to.

The gift shop is very nice though. The guided tour (electronic) is well worth the 5 euro.

I went early to avoid the crowds. How could you not give this museum high marks. My only disappointment was some works were on other international displays. I could gaze upon Van Gogh's work the entire day. A man full of emotion and turmoil displaying his version of life. I will return.

A very nice museum, we enjoyed it a lot. Ticket reservation can only be made online these days, which prevents long lines at the museum entrance (I was there 5 years ago and we didn't enter because of the lines, and the last time we bought the tickets online, there was no line whatsoever, and everything went quickly and smoothly). Everything is wheelchair and stroller-accessible, too.

I love Van Gogh artworks, so of course I totally enjoyed my tour. The museum is very well organized, not too crowded in the morning (during the week, I don't know about the weekends) and thanks to the audioguide I was able to enjoy the experience and have an indepth explanation of every painting.
The whole visit took me circa 3 hours, but just because I was in a bit of hurry to catch my plane. Otherwise I think you can spend 4-5 hours inside the museum.

The paintings were great but the museum itself felt a bit dated and very dark especially the first two floors and no air with so many people. Ticket sales were slowed down by the fact you have to purchase them online when you arrive (what if you don't have a phone?!?!) And then it repeatedly asked you for a donation for the museum which at 19 a pop per visitor & they have cut costs with no machines or ticket sellers felt reeeeeally cheeky for one of the busiest tourist attractions in Amsterdam.

Reserve your tickets online and in advance; as of May 2018 you had up until 30 minutes after your chosen time slot to present yourself at the entrance. Inside, navigate the four floors of the museum which not only house Van Gogh's pieces but also those of who inspired him and those of who he in turn inspired, in addition to letters and other memorabilia. The second floor was the most crowded and also where we spent the most time appreciating his early works. Finally, the in-museum restaurant fittingly serves up a buffet of photo-worthy dishes.

Great museum and learning about the life of Van Gogh and his work of paintings and drawings. There is 3 floors and all are accessible with elevator access and there is a cafe to take a break and rest. Entrance was simple and painless. I enjoyed my visit.

Great experience and history of Van Gogh and how his brother and wife help a true genius in the art world . My only regret is not having more time to soak in the 4 floors of breath taking painters skills and styles. Give yourself at least 4 hours .

The Van Gogh Museum was one of my favorite things to visit in Amsterdam. I would recommend getting the I Amsterdam City Card, which gives you access to the other museums in the area, then you can make a day of just museums. You can explore several floors of Van Gogh s works and his personal letters. The museum is well laid out and the wait is not long. Be sure to schedule a day and time online well in advance of your visit.

This museum was awesome, our only regret was that we didn't get there early enough to account for how long we were going to stay there. The museum is worth the money as well as the audio guide. Trust me, pay the couple extra dollars and do the audio tour. The audio tour offered three different options (which you could select from and change to if you didn't like one of the guides). It provides a unique and fast-paced experience to learn about Van Gogh's life/background and how it influenced his different pieces of art. It really enhanced my experience there, and I left our visit knowing a lot more about Van Gogh. Also the gift shop has a nice selection of books/souvenirs.

Fantastic museum that really gives you a sense of who Van Gogh was, how his worked evolved, and why he died so young. What an incredible artist he was!

FYI *The 5 listening device is DEFINITELY worth it and gives you a much richer experience!*

The Van Gogh museum has done a fantastic job chronicling the life of the great impressionist Van Gogh. The museum layout takes you through his story and helps you to really understand the Man behind the paintings. The collection is really extensive and you will definitely recognize a lot of his masterpieces. The facilities at the museum is excellent although they do need more elevators. Tickets are online only but there are no queues!

This museum has a selection of Van Gogh's work along with some interesting pieces from those he admired. The Sunflowers canvas is displayed brilliantly and the are eariler works of his to show his progression as an artist.

Very busy, even during it's off season. The artwork is beautiful though and worth the trip I would say. I would probably go back if it weren't for the crowds. Definably book your tickets online in advance too, they sell out fast. Overall I enjoyed my experience.

What a beautiful Museum; it's very informative and well organized. What i mostly liked about it that it's not allowed to take pictures, so you can enjoy your time going through the paintings into Van Gough World & mind without distractions. I'll visit it again for sure!!!

For all fine art lovers. Needs no introduction. No pictures allowed except a few selected points.
They have two musuem shops. Both offer discounts on different merchandise.

Buy tkts early to avoid queue. Don't carry bags and jackets because the queue for storing those are equally long.

Cafe is excellent!

Make sure you book as we turned up and was turned away. We booked for the following day online. A nice experience if you appreciate this type of thing. It was very busy so not always easy to look at certain exhibits but there is plenty to see.

my favorite museum ever, i loved how you could follow van gogh s entire life journey and see the pieces he created in different parts of his life. wish I couldve spent more time here. it s a must see for anyone visiting Amsterdam!

Very detailed show, included lots of works from artists surrounding Van Gogh and Van Gogh himself. The timeline shown was a nice addition as well. The museum was quite large and I ended up spending about four hours enjoying the art. I was visiting with someone in a wheel chair at the time, and considering this, the museum was exceptionally accessible. elevators reach every floor and all hallways were wide enough to not cause any issue. i would like to add however, some of the restrooms were a little underwhelming in size. this was slightly unconfortable but not a show stopper. overall it was a great place to visit.

The Museum is simply breathtaking and the stuff super friendly! The multimedia tour , which by the way I totally recommend, added a whole new level to the whole experience. The fact that it was not so crowded on a Saturday morning is a huge plus for me!

4 floors of van goghs paintings and story - get the audio guide, it s super easy to use and stories are short. I was disappointed it didnt have starry night - turns out that s in new york! Gift shop had some cool stuff. I d recommend it you like art, was fascinating to see how his style changed over the years and getting a glimpse into his life. We didn t book online and got lucky - hardly stood in line for 5 mins and got immediate entry. The people standing before us only got tickets for an hour later, i guess it s just your luck! Probably better to book in advance to be safe.

Arguably my favorite museum in Amsterdam! The way the works are organized is engaging and easy to follow. The building itself is beautiful and of course Van Gogh s paintings are stunning and timeless!

It truly is worth going. The price for a ticket and an audio guide (which I would recommend) is just too steep (22 ) but I don't regret paying it. The paintings and the information you get through the audio guide helps you see and truly understand not only the fascinating paintings but also the painter. Van Gogh was a genius. Definitely worth going!

If you want to know about van Gogh the person, then you have to go! His sunflowers are the final product of his lifelong search for personal expression. If you are just mildly curious about his art, then four floors of van Gogh might be overkill.

Outstanding museum and art. Very moving to see how Van Gogh struggled, against all the odds and right until his death, to produce beautiful art unlike any other. If only he had known what pleasure he would bring to millions and how much now he is appreciated. Don't miss it.

Excelent museum. Every piece is carefully displayed and explained in dutch and in english. It is useful to buy tickets in advance. Kids under 12 do not pay when accompanied by a paying adult and they get an audioguide if the adult has paid for one. The audioguide was useful and entertaining for the kids and they learnt a great deal about Van Goghs work and life. Photography is not allowed and the museum shop does not accept cash, only cards. The museum buffet restaurant is very nice with diferent options but quite expensive.

The museum itself is not that bad but... You can not really enjoy the art as everyone is making photos of every picture or even selfiess with every single picture. And after taking the picture, people are starring in front of the painting to their mobiles. It was very disturbing. I know there are signs that you are not allowed to take a picture but apparently nobody was there to remind it. I was very disappointed and did not enjoy the gallery at all.

Vincent Van Gogh .... one of the greatest painters in our history. Finally saw his real masterpieces with my bear eyes. Breath taking moments. Definitely recommend for family quality tour time.

I came as a tourist and it was pretty much what I expected. Very clean, an extensive collection of Van Gogh art- not just his paintings. It was a bit crowded when I went, but I still made it to the gift shop where I got a cute little stack of cards - appropriately designed - for only like $3.

Really liked seeing how Van Gogh's style and intent changed over time. Audio tour was informative and interesting. It would be nice if it were proximity-based instead of having to find the numbers on the signs each time. Overall definitely worth the visit.

Awesome museum that features a part in which you deep dive into Van Gogh undeniable style and family context.

There are also plenty of his most famous auto portraits. If you want to go then buy your tickets online and skip the waiting line

I got baked and took pics even though the security were not allowing people to do so. Because I was stoned, I felt like they were gonna get me, but they never did.

Anyway, the art was incredible. He was one talented, albeit troubled, man. I am proud to say I stood looking for hours into the eyes of his portraits, and am pretty sure I understood him. Thanks Vincent. x

Enjoyed the Van Gogh Museum, the audio tour as you wander has some out-takes on every piece of art that adds to them and is really nice. The timeslot system makes the place not as crowded. Well worth the visit.

One of those 'must visit' places, even if you aren't especially into art. The museum is extremely well laid out, the audio tour is excellent, and it is a good size--an extensive collection without being overwhelming. If you haven't seen Van Gogh's work in person, make the effort. My husband, who is only sort-of interested in art and had never before appreciated Van Gogh, found himself profoundly moved by seeing this work in person. There is a texture and depth to his brush work and a vibrancy to the colors which aren't adequately conveyed in print. The museum really takes you through the life and struggle of Van Gogh, which gives a certain perspective on the work as you view it.

Incredible, so much history, the pictures were brilliant. No stress to getting tickets, although pre-ordering them is probably a good idea, also worth noting you can't take big bags in, and tram goes straight outside, around the museum there's several places to eat, and tbh I was fairly impressed by the prices in the gift shop, not as much of a rip off as they could be. Would definitely recommend if you're in Holland.
