I thoroughly enjoyed the Van Gogh museum! It was interesting to see the progression of his work and to learn about his short life. And since visiting there I've fallen in love with sunflowers!

A must see for anyone who loves art, and love paintings of the impression period. The museum did a very good job depicts the life and time of Vincent Van Gogh, his struggle to live his life and his way to deal with it. One would walk away knowing a bit about his life, his tragic end, besides his brilliant, beautiful paintings that he left behind.
The museum layout is excellent, with the audio device would allow anyone to enjoy walking thru the entire exhibit with his own pace. Supporting staff is helpful. Allow at least 4 hours to at least see most of the paintings in the exhibit. Due to its popularity, there is always a crowd, and some were very rude and inconsiderate while we were there. Patience is needed if you go there....
Housing Van Gogh and some of the contemporaries this is compliment to his genius. However a good section of the museum is commercialized.
Amazing collection! Free coat and bag check with ticket purchase, but you shouldn t expect to take to many pictures of the art. I didn t get a multimedia guide and could still kill 45 minutes there with a small three person group.
I went on Sunday at 4:30 pm
It s a museum. Go and have a look for yourself. This needs no review.
Wow what an amazing place lots of works by Van Gogh you will know a many you may not, the lighting of the pictures wasn't great for me a lot of reflection so you have to move around a little to get a view but that didn't take away from the experience. You can buy tickets on the day at the museum, online in advance or get them as part of the Amsterdam Card. We were told that it would be very busy and you would get a time slot for visiting and maybe we were lucky because we just turned up bought a ticket and went in (Weekday about 1130 am) Definitely one to stop and see :)
Make sure to get tickets in advance because they regulate the amount of people in the museum! It s an awesome place to visit and I highly recommend taking the time to go. There are interactive portions and the artwork is displayed beautifully. Also, because they regulate the amount of people, the rooms are not over crowded with a ton of people. You will have more people around the well known pieces, but that s to be expected!
Expensive galley but, you could still see everything
This place is Mecca for all fans of Van Gogh. The only issue we had was that you had to pre order tickets prior to arrival. That was something I was not familiar with at all. If you do not have tickets, I would suggest checking the website several times throughout your visit to see if any have become available.
I'm not a huge Van Gogh fan, but the museum was very well laid out, and it was fantastic that they provide audio tapes for those wanting to learn about the art as they walk through the museum. It is very pretty, but I went there while they had a temporary special Van Gogh exposition and it was really interactive and interesting. I still suggest going to the museum, but you have to be somewhat into Van Gogh to get your money's worth.
Very very very busy. Even though you book a time to go in, it will be busy when you're in there. Some impressive paintings, of course, but couldn't enjoy them. Especially the impressionist ones where I like to observe from further away and then look how it is constructed up close. You cannot do this. A million people between you and the painting and an officious guard shouting that people should not taking be photos. A pointless rule with camera phones. Not like the pictures can get damaged and if you wanted a Van Gogh picture, they're so famous they can be found easily online. Anyway, spoiled it a bit for me.
Its a treat for art lover ... Since I don't have much time i couldn't spend more than 2hr... Its worth for the people who love art
He is one of the genius in painting
Oh my... When i was in Amsterdam I was rent a bycycle to biked all the city and Van Gogh Museum is one of the spectaculare view that I seen. The large park, the uniqe of the building comes together. There is no word to say don't want to come back again to this wonderfull site.
I recommend paying for the electronic guided tour. It adds more context for a more insightful experience. Very busy so you should book in advance.
Not only was the art breathtaking, the journey through Vincent's life was both tragic and awe inspiring. They should make a documentary about his brother and sister in law
very interesting, loved learning things I didn't know before coming here.
