Amazing museum, well layed out and a fascinating look at the life and works of an incredible artist. Definitely worth a visit
Amazing museum, well layed out and a fascinating look at the life and works of an incredible artist. Definitely worth a visit
Wonderful museum. You can dive as deep as you want into the painters life, inspirations, challenges and influences.
I walked into the museum with only 2 hours before it closed. With the audio tour, I was able to cover as much as I could take in during that time.
I will definitely be coming back to this museum!
Definitely buy tickets online ahead of time.
There are many art works and souvenir. I didn't expect that I would spend much time here.
Great place everyone who visits Amsterdam should go.
I'd suggest to open a coffeeshop inside and let people smoke tons of weed while wandering in the museum. Afterall art is better with drugs
My favourite museum in Ansterdam. There is a good cafe, where you can have a rest and eat taste.
Nice museum if you are interested in art. The employees could be a little more polite through..
Beautiful museum with lots of different paintings from Van Gogh. From all his different periods, an unique look into the mind of an artist.
Best museum I ever visit in my life and the audio guide is amazing!! U can learn all about the life and the Art of Van Gogh!! If u visit Amsterdam, don't miss this museum!!
Wish we had give when it was less crowded but as a fan of Van Gogh it was with the crowds to see my favorite paintings.
Being a huge fan of Van Gogh, loved the museum! Highly recommended if you like his approach to Art.
Easily the best collection of Van Gogh works of art. Since his first compositions to his last days in Auvers, France.
Wide variety of Van Gogh works, with a lot of detail to accompany the photos. Overall good exhibition especially for learning more about Van Gogh and his life. It can get busy at some works however it is still interesting for myself who I don't see myself as an art fanatic.
An amazing museum, way better than I expected it to be.
I recommend you preorder your tickets online to skip the huge line that forms outside of the museum.
Also, the audio guide is really useful and informative.
There is also a storage area for bags and other things you do not wish to carry with you around the museum.
Everything's good but it appeared to be smaller then expected. Nice to visit for a 1.5 hour
Beautiful museum, well organized and presenting a lot about Van Gogh's life and collaborations. It is missing his most famous works though, like the Starry Night
Had a fun time exploring the museum at my own pace. The skip the line tickets helped with SKIPPING THE LINE. So worth it. Anyway, find a promotion for these activities, tons around.
Being as popular as it is, you should expect a long wait to get in and crowds throughout the museum. You can buy tickets online for a particular time slot and skip the line to buy tickets (which took us about an hour). The museum is beautiful and the audio guide is actually an interactive media guide on a tablet and is well done. The Dutch in Paris Exhibition was on display during our visit and we thoroughly enjoyed the collection and the story it told. The rest of the museum explored the life of Van Gogh including his acquaintances, friends, and family. It chronicles the growth of his artistic career and what influenced him.
The staff are all friendly and welcoming.
Amazing... Well planned and put together.. loved it !
Even if you don't go into any of the museums the free art is allways changing.
Amazing and unique pieces of art are displayed there. Mostly the work of van Gogh and his inspirations and the painters who got inspired by him. You are not allowed to photograph the paintings there.
Great organization that oviews his life and artistic development
Purchase your tickets in advance, online to prevent waiting in the loooong lines. It paid 14 for admission online and waltzed right in, no wait. Pictures were not allowed in the gallery. You can rent a headset to do the audio tour while there...I opted to skip that. There are multiple gift shops...3 that I saw. Lots of walking and a FABULOUS restaurant inside! There is a scavenger hunt coloring book for kids, although, I wouldn't take kids under 12 or 13 yrs old as they will tire quickly. A wonderful experience if you like art.
The self guided tour is fantastic! hoping to go back there again someday!
A must visit place in Amsterdam. They re selection is mind blowing. Amazing.
Super fun kids' treasure hunt! Also gluten free options at the restaurant
You are not allowed to take photos unfortunately. But you will see a good collection of his painting. Try to use the audio aid to complete Lot of stories about the artist.
Fantastic place. To bad it's always so busy but worth the visit
It definitely is a worth visiting. I really liked to how they have organised it in a very nice and proper way. I also found the audio guide very helpful. I would obviously recommend Van Gogh museum to all the art lovers. Kudos to the the Van Gogh foundation.
Van Gogh has always been one of my favorites along with Rembrandt. You will not be disappointed
The van Gogh museum is a must for everyone that loves art!
Best pizza in the region. A nice family is holding this place, all extra friendly. There is a pool table inside, and you can also enjoy the time outside
Learned a lot about Van Gogh! Really nice journey through his life, via the descriptions next to the painting. Got in with an iAmsterdam card - well worth a visit.
Great place to go with children. You'd better book before the visit to beat long queues. Some children activities also need to be booked in advance to avoid disappointment.
This is a very nice place for art enthusiasts and the like
One of my most favourite museums in the world! As an art fan since a child, it was truly a dream come true. They have a large variety of many famous art works. No photos allowed though. Good location, would highly recommend to visit if around.
Very enjoyable, thoroughly recommend the electronic tour guide.
Amazing, bas thing that u r not allowed to take photos
If you love Van Gogh visiting this place is a must. Nice to be immersed in his world for a few hours. His story of mental illness leaves an impression on you.
A must see. Got to learn a lot about Van Gogh and how he progressed as an artist. The layout of the museum is great and well thought. Amazing!
It was an interesting museum but does get very busy. The tickets are timed so you need to bear this in mind. There is a ticket machine just by the museum or you can buy online it is walkable from main city but it's quite a way so we got on tram by central station and it was very easy.
Make sure you pay attention to VG's influences, they are incredible!
If you adore contemporary art, this place should be in your must-visit list. The building itself is revolutionary and the collection inside is outstanding, so being taken aback is as easy as ABC no matter whether you like Van Gogh or you suppose the Rembrandt was miles better. The museum is located nearby other cultural places; thus, you ought to dedicate several hours to cover the area.
A must see for post impressionist art lovers. They also had a Millet exhibition contained within the Van Gogh halls. Free coat check, and a bistro that sells both hot and cold meals is contained within the museum as well. Note that photos of the paintings themselves, are not allowed. So if you want that selfie in front of Van Gogh's "Sunflowers", you may be disappointed. "Starry Night" is not here, so if you're looking for that, you'll need to head to New York.
I didn't enjoy it so much. You couldn't take pictures and it wasn't as interesting as some of the other museums. If you are an art lover then you will enjoy it. Otherwise there are better places to go.
If you're in love with Van Gogh's paintings, this is a perfect place for you.
P.S. If you are visiting with I Am Amsterdam card do not forget to book a timeslot in advance.
I never thought I'd be an art lover, this place changed that. If you can see beyond yourself, you'll love this museum.
Get to see quite a few of Van Gogh's paintings and the history behind it.
A great museum. Focussed, informative and well organised. The audio guides were excellent - we really enjoyed our visit.
A must see in Amsterdam, it can be extremely busy at times though.
I loved this museum. You really get to learn about Van Gogh's life and there is a lot of related art from other artists as well.
A very crowded museum. Not easy to find your way, staff can help you. They have 1 tactile display, of the famous Sunflowers painting.
Lunch is delicious in the restaurant, quite expensive.
Accessibility is ok.
Expect lines to get inside. Better to get tickets online.
super crowded. the secuity guard ordered me not to take me pictures and shouted at me to keep my phone away in front of everyone. i was just holding my phone out and wasnt intending to take pics. he could have just told me quietly instead of shouting at me in front of everyone. i had such a bad experience here bc of him and left early. but i did enjoy the other paintings and especially the museum shop!
This museum is full of Van Gogh s most famous pieces and will not disappoint. The layout has been put together well and the building is gorgeous. Only negative I can say is they do not allow any photography of the paintings. You can sneak a few but if they see you they will tell you no pictures allowed. Please though people no flash and no laser focusing, that s just common sense. Must visit and be aware tickets are ONLY sold online.
Wanted to go here for the longest time and it didn't disappoint. So many collections to look at, just just by Van Gogh, but the people who inspired him
My boyfriend went mental in the gift shop too, it's a good gift shop
Get your tickets ahead of time online. We thought an art museum we would be able to but tickets for at the museum, but that was not the case. And they are sold out for the day we were there anyway. Quite a disappointment.
Only seeing the real paintings to understand Van Gogh better
An informative and interesting exhibition. I recommend including the audio description as this elucidates many interesting facts about the paintings and Van Gogh's State of mind during that period. There are hundreds of paintings to see arranged over 3 floors. There is a timeline and narrative connected to the paintings as you proceed upwards to the third and final floor. Clearly described and unpretentious. Well worth a visit.
A must see in Amsterdam! Use the headset to make the most of your visit.
The greatest paintinga I've ever seen in over 20 countries. A master that must be visited.
Beautiful gallery with amazing painting, love the gift shop
Unfortunately the museum was fully booked (maybe because it was Easter Day) and I couldn t visit it.... my recommendation is definitely to buy the Tickets in advance ( at least a few weeks before going there...)
Excellent exhibits and fantastic displays. A brilliant experience with far more art work and insights into his life than I had experienced last time I visited in 2014. Thank you!
Nice museum and well organized. I was only disappointed with the sunflowers exhibit as there was only like one real painting of the series there. The rest of the museum was laid out nicely and logically with lots of art to see. Worth a visit.
A great experience, looking at the world of the man himself. Home to a few Picasso works too. It is great to see how proud the Dutch are of him and his legacy. I would recommend this place to everyone, not just fans of art. The information supplied is comprehensive but easy to absorb. The queues are often long but it is definitely worth the wait.
Stellar showcase of the big fella's work. It was well over crowded and there was a pushy crew on our visit; Tuesday, 1 o'clock. Best go on a quieter time.
Letters with his freinds and brother help us know what he thought.
Very modern Galery with many of Van Goghs Greatest and several other artists. I believe there was a Monet as well.
Nice museum, not too big. Can do the while museum without being tired afterwords. Need to book online. Not too crowded because of the limited amount of spots per session.
First of all, the museum was a lot bigger than I anticipated, so prepare for several evels of walking atleast, assuming you check out everything. The collection is stunningly beautiful and definitely recommend to go see it
Great, but i highly recommend you buy your tickets first
Beautiful place, easy to move through. The museum puts you in context with the artist origins and his life. Must visit!
Deceived. Reasons:
- There were some descriptions in English with some letters missing.
- There was a lack of content in terms of explanations about the reasons of some pictures, about his actions during his life, etc. The explanations were poor.
- Apart from that, it's a pity to say it but the guard of the 3rd floor (day 24/08/2019, 19.30h) was very rude and unpolite without reasons.
Hope this feedback help you improve in the future.
Nice art piece by Van Gogh, however even though it's mentioned no photographs are allowed, many people still take photo and just make me feel what's the point not allowing photo shooting but not implementing the rule.
You can get to know more about the sad life of Vincent Van Gogh.
So good but you need to have so much power so you can take all if it.
It took for me so long because I wanted to read every painting description.
For an art museum, they have done an excellent job. As you progress through the museum with the audio tour, you are able to follow a timeline of Van Gogh's life...almost like an interactive biography.
If you are in Amsterdam, and interested in art, you have to see Vincent Van Gogh's masterpieces.
An excellent collection presented in a wonderful setting. Very busy at certain times so it s a good idea to plan your visit and buy your tickets ahead of time. Nice visitor shop and cafe on site also.
Went here and felt in love. Only hear on his painting generally but this help to know who he is better.
Several floors of beautiful works by Van Gogh and a few by those who inspired or were inspired by him. Learned a lot about his tragic struggles with mental health, his family, his sister-in-law who helped him become known one of the greatest artists ever. After visiting, apreciated his work even more.
Emotional Museum. Lived as Van Gogh himself for the entire visit duration.
Highly recommended! Photos only allowed in specific photo op areas, obviously to avoid damage to the display and also to keep the display hidden to paying customers. I believe the audio guide was confusing to use though, but probably still worth it.
Loved every second and would go back again.
Visit if you like van gogh. But famous paintings are not here like starry starry night.
