Great experience! Even though I'm not that into art, I really enjoyed it. Also, I think it is one of th few places where the optional extra 5 that you pay for the voice guide is totally worth it. The experience wouldn't have been the same without it.

Beautiful new museum and the artwork is interesting and well laid out so that you can navigate around the space easily. I would recommend booking in advance as sometimes it s hard to get tickets if they are sold out. The gift shop is also worth a look

I really like Vincent Van Gogh! If you are the same as me, then you must visit this museum even if it s getting more and more expensive every year! I recommend you to have a reservation time in Summer seasons, or it would be easily to get crowded and have to queue in line waiting for the admission. In winter time, you can just go directly to the ticket counter and buy the ticket. Not so many ppl then because it is really cold there even if it s not snowy in Amsterdam~
But the paintings inside are not as many as you think! Sometimes some pairings would be lent to other countries like Japan or New York! It s better than Rijusuem indeed!
I promise to take a visit as you have some free time in Amsterdam, not just for the weeds there

Words can't describe the experience of this exceptional artists work.
If you enjoy art, then you will absolutely like this museum, oh and you definitely want to buy your tickets online, to avoid the very long queue.

Great experience! I hate art and my wife made me go with her to the van Gogh museum and it was worth it. After reading about van Gogh and his art in the museum, I appreciate him and his art a lot more

Excellent museum with the life of Van Gogh, there are multiple famous works from other artists that lived in Paris during the same time of Van Gogh. It is highly recommended to get the Audio device!

I'm giving it a lower rating because this museum is very small and INCREDIBLY crowded compared to other museums in Amsterdam. The art is amazing, but given the number of people crowded around every painting, its quite hard to enjoy. Unlike most other museums, going early doesn't mean less people. I asked a staff on the way out if it was always this busy, and they explained it was actually quiet that day. I honestly can't imagine what it would be like on a busy day.

Nice space, well curated but felt a bit short on key pieces.. And somehow I don't think Vincent would have appriciate the commercialisation of his work to the extent that it is in the gift shop. Bit OTT

This museum was sooo cool. I loved it including the interactive shoot. The wait was a little long but not that bad. I purchased tickets ahead of time and you can check your coat and belongings for free.

While the story about Van Gogh and his friends and people who influenced his art can be viewed here, I found it sad to not see very much of Van Gogh himself. And for that I found the price was a bit too high. Also, the food offered inside as well as the drinks are just way too expensive!

A must-visit-place in Amsterdam. Most of Van Gogh's masterpieces were presented there. Take an audio guide (5 euro) and enjoy the full history of the genius. by the way if you have separate earphones you can take only 1 audio guide for 2 ;) Enjoy!!!

This is one of the best museums I've ever visited. The whole museum flows from his early days to his final works. There are detailed explanations about his techniques. It is a very informative museum.
I recommend it for kids as well

The van gogh /hockney exhibition was very good. I liked how the 2 artists were placed side by side for comparison. Very moving was van Gogh's tree roots, his last painting which was unfinished. I liked hockney's 3D picture of an art gallery, you felt you could step inside.

Fantastic museum!! The exposition is well orrganised and the entrance system is good. The audioguide is worth the price, it's very well built and in some parts also a bit interactive. If you are in Amsterdam, you can't miss this place!!

This was a highlight of our trip to Amsterdam. We spent 7 hours there, including a worship on portrait s where we did self portraits. It was the only way I could afford to take home an original from there

Great museum to learn about the life and work of Van Gogh. Really interesting and complete. Recommended if you are visiting Amsterdam during some days. Don't forget to book tickets previously. There are other art museums close to this one, besides, the area is very beautiful and green. It was not clearly specified the fact that it is not allowed to take pictures in the museum. Take care with that, I saw some people having to abandon some galleries after taking a picture with the phone.

Well organized and clear description! The places for self exploring are really wonderful. The only pity is that the museum is more and more commercial. No any pictures is allowed, why?! Too many commercial products for sale:-(

Very large building and extremely busy. Too many people to be able to have a decent look at paintings. Everyone walks around like a zombie listening to the audio tour.
Van Gogh isn't my favourite artist so this experience didn't help.
I preferred the Moco museum next door.

If they've sold out online, try the window at the museum store around the corner, they release tickets for available time slots and if you can be flexible it's an easy way to go. Lots of self portraits, and no Starry Night, but still a nice collection.

Art in this museum was dedicated to educating about Van Gogh's life. It was arranged based on periods in his life and included art that inspired his style as well as most of his personal work.
The museum was very accessable to handicapped and non-native speakers including elevators and audio tours in most languages

This was part of a must do stop off during a short cruise . Unfortunately by the time we got there, around 4pm the museum had stopped selling tickets for the day. I can only suggest if you visit this place you should pre book tickets or at least get there in the morning

take an audio guide... it is simply wow. was disappointed not to see his famous self portrait and the starry nights . but the insights on his creative evolution and his thoughts was amazing.

An outstanding collection of one of the most talented and strange artists. The timeline is laid out nicely. Easy to follow steps. Tickets are reasonable. The plaza where the museum is located is surrounded by multiple other museums, cafes , and pleasant restaurants.

Really vreat collection of van Gogh paintings and letters. Even some contemporaries like Gauguin and Vlaminck. But there are no pictures allowed. I imagine this is mostly to keep people moving and so everyone can see things easily...it is by far the most popular museum in Amsterdam.

Very nice museum containing an impressive collection of Van Gogh art pieces. Make sure you buy your ticket online because there is a limited number of visitors allowed into the museum at a specific time. The audio guide is very useful. Be aware that you are not allowed to take pictures except in a few places, and you are not allowed to carry large backpacks or luggage inside the museum.

Rich exhibition of famous Van Gogh. I did seen his well know paintings, but also learn about history of each exhibit with audio system. Download of some was available too.
Also lots of information about his life, family and friends.
The exhibition is well visited and has to be booked particular hour to enter.

I like the simple modernist architecture of the museum. Good collection of van Gogh main works. The museum is also of the right size, not too big for my children. A tacky collection of over-commercialised artsy souvenirs at the shop.

Opened in 1973, the Van Gogh Museum has the largest collection of works by Vincent Van Gogh in the world.

This includes 200 paintings, 500+ drawings and 750 letters, as well as pieces by contemporaries and influences like Rodin, Monet, Signac, Toulouse-Lautrec, Manet and Gauguin.

With more than 2.1 million visitors a year, the Van Gogh Museum is the most popular museum in the Netherlands.

Very good layout and shows the progression of Van Gogh's talent and life. I learnt a lot from this museum. Advisable to book tickets online to avoid the queue/ waiting for a time-slot but the queues seemed to move fast.
It is a real shame that some people think the rules don't apply to them and take photos on their phones despite the multiple signs that state "no photos".

Loved seeing all the artwork and hearing more about Vincent. What I didn't like was all the stupid idiots that still insisted on taking pictures despite the millions of signs and me tapping them on the shoulder to remind them. People read and obey the signs they're there for a reason!!!!

A Good museum, tickets ONLY online, when we get at the museum we had to buy the tickets online, fast and easy to get them. Inside the museum, my personal opinion is that the order is not intuitive, you can found a section of friends next to the artist influenced by Van Gogh. The route trought the museum isnt an easy one, on way tour. Best hours to visit by moring as there arent so many groups going.

The temporary David Hockney exhibition adds value ...

The temporary David Hockney exhibition adds value - he was notably inspired by van Gogh and also added his own dimensions (one of them clearly, size! Size matters). The master Vincent himself conveys even more emotions, especially in his work made in the asylum. The Starry Night, perhaps his most beloved painting, regrettably is in the MOMA in New York City since 1941 - may it one day return to Amsterdam.

You must book at least 2 to 3 weeks in advance during the summer months otherwise chances are you will not be able to buy tickets on the day so save yourself the disappointment and buy tickets in advance of your visit.

An extremely busy museum, unlike the other museums in Amsterdam, they do not crowd control much. Too many people to enjoy the experience. Went at 2pm on a Tuesday. Other than that, nice works of art!

Amazing collection of Van Gogh's work. Bright and airy building with a few large murals so you can safely take a picture with his work without damaging his paintings. They have a nice kiosk for coffee and snacks. It would be nice if they had a real cafe but this place is so busy I can see why they don't have a spot for people to park for hours! Lots of nice souvenirs to choose from.

Security staff as well as the manager boldly assumed that a friend would be a potential terrorist based on his appearance only and put him and many others into an uncomfortable situation. I do not support this kind of behaviour because it is simply racist!!

l went to the David Hockney/Van Gogh exhibition. I loved it but today is the last day. The paintings were beautifully displayed with an audio tour for 5 Euros extra. There is a beautiful book to go with the exhibition too.

It s a great collection. The customer service here was fantastic. They were flexible with me when I ran into some issues with missing my scheduled time. If you are a fan of art, and naturally Van Gogh, then you should definitely stop by.

Great museum to visit. Details the life of Van Gogh and the paintings are superb. Good restaurant with lots of healthy choice. Shops on site selling lots of arty stuff. Lots of walking involved but good access for wheelchair users as well. Would recommend.

Book on line avoid the queues. It's worth taking at least an hour for the 19 to be really worth it. Lovely vibe in there and phenomenally good artworks. A good story to it all if you have the time.
