I went in 2018 and attended the truly awesome Van Gogh and Japan exhibition. Great to see Vincent's art juxtaposed to that of famed (and sometimes not so famed) Japanese art which inspired him. The permanent collection is a must see for anyone who has ever undertaken painting in their life. The museum guide is detailed and helpful and easy to operate. My favorite painting to see live was the Almond Blossoms. The greatest colorist of his generation, his art inspired great artists of all generations which came after him.

Amazing experience! Would highly recommend but make sure you book online as it gets busy. We ended up spending four hours here as there is so much to take in! But luckily really good and fair priced lunches were available.

Marvellous collection and perfect sized museum, the only 2 incovinience was that the booking was very bad organized, because the machines weren 't working and so we had to do it w phone. We were lucky we had internet, but not wifi. Other people may not have the same luck. The 2nd thing is that some museum workers were very rude.

note that you should buy tickets online, and it s better if you buy them in advance like 3-4 days

My time slot was 7:15p.m., and I stayed until close (9 p.m.). There are so many works, and the information cards guide you through van Gogh's life and mind. There was also a temporary interactive exhibit there when I went, and I loved it. All of his paintings seem to dance on the canvas. They seem alive. Loved it. You can't take pictures when you are there, though, so be aware!

This is an awesome museum with a great collection of art work by Van Gogh all in one place. The layout is great as goes by period so you can see how he progresses as an artist. Would recommend purchasing tickets online prior to going as can be a bit of a queue to purchase tickets on the door. If you want to do the audio tour this will cost an additional 5. It is a must see place if you are in Amsterdam.

You have to stand in line for tickets a day or two in advance we didnt know that, stood in line for a half and hour before they came and told us it was closed for the day. Rotten luck as we left the next day

The best thing that's happened to me. I am in awe of Van Gogh. The museum is a place that anyone can enjoy as its laid out as a story. Its very engaging and there won't be a moment of boredom. Its a must visit

This one of the most important Museum that you should visit in Amsterdam. It is all about The artist Van Gogh and his drawings . The museum is near to the ice skating and brand stores. The wife and I had to make a visit to her favorite artist s museum of works, while we visited Amsterdam for our honeymoon. We were not let down at all! (Except for Starry Night not being found anywhere at all This was the only painting I wanted to see. Luckily the Sunflower painting was there which is my wife s favorite painting!)
Use their phone app or website to buy your tickets before you get there. Be prepared to check any large bags, as you cannot walk around the painting with them if they feel it s unsafe.
We wandered around for a good two hours looking at the many works of Van Gogh & others. I think there are four levels worth of work in this museum.

The art itself is really nice. It is very impressive to see a van Gogh for real. However. There is a lot of waiting involved. You have to wait for every single painting (up to one min) , for the wardrobe (10 min) for the cash register at the book shop (10 min). Good museum. But just too crowded. I have to admit, I was there on Saturday afternoon, which is probably the most busy moment of the week. I want to come back. But will try it on a Tuesday morning or sth.

Although the Van Gogh museum is great for the workshop they show. Unfortunately they are collaborating with Shell. 'Partners in Science', giving Shell a stage to create an illusion they are supporting and helping to keep culture alive while destroying many communities.

It was alot of fun. Make sure if you want to go to buy your tickets days in advance. I did that and had no problems. The sunflower exhibit was cool. Lots of neat things to see. I do think that that the gift shop was over priced. But besides that lots of fun for everyone. 10/10 would recommend.

Another one of my favorite museums in Amsterdam. It really provides an in-depth understanding of Van Gogh, his evolution and how the person and the artist come together. The audio guide is very useful. I would recommend a visit during the week and earlier in the day, at around 9-10am, as it proved to be a good time with no queues.

Was on my bucket list of things to see and was not disappointed in the slightest.
It's all arranged Vincent's life passages and very well presented . I wouldn't rule out going to this great city again just for this jewel of a spot; but then again am a bit of a Vincent enthusiast.
I booked my ticket in UK before I departed for Amsterdam and would recommend same if you have a fair idea of your tour itinerary in advance.

Great gallery space, suitable for both the permanent displays and the changing exhibitions. It provides good coverage of the life of Van Gogh and so many of his works to illustrate the story. I learnt a lot here! The restaurant was pleasant and the staff were very helpful.

By far the best museum I have ever visited. A truly beautiful museum containing artwork and information of the painter I respect most in this world. Some paintings brought tears to my eyes, such a troubled man created such beauty. Truly a unique experience the two times I've visited. It felt different each time and I will come back many more times!

Thank you to all personnel working and everyone involved in this project. I applaud your wonderful work and efforts!

Well explained life of Van Gogh and his issues via works and letters with his brother Theo in a modern museum building. We entered on Tuesday afternoon (mid-July) waiting just 5 minutes for entry.

Good collection of Van Gogh, is obvious besides a good insight into his life and time. Amused with shear number of visitors.
Wish they improve the display area to reduce crowding. But certainly this is by design or else they can add some hours to opening time easily.

Firstly, buy the ticket in advance, to avoid the queues. Secondly, audio guide is not included in basic fee. It could give you better in introduction in artist life. For third, the collection include from one half painting from other artists.

Learned a ton about Van Gogh and got an intimate glimpse into the mind of an artist. Everything is laid out very well and the journey is well worth the ticket price. Just make sure to buy those tickets well in advance!

Van Gogh Museum, very nice place to visit when you are in Amsterdam. You can see masterpieces of the great artist. Must see whan you are in Amsterdam along with the Rijks museum and Rembrandt house and museum the one in three thing on the top of the list. Be aware, you must online reserve the time and date when you want to go to museum the museum is very popular, and the thickets can not be purshased on spot, you will not get in.

It is a nice place to visit. It is much better to buy the tickets online than in the museum. You need to leave your bag and if you want also your coat. You can pay for 5 euros the audio guide. It could be a better option than just looking the paintings.

The exhibition does a wonderful job telling the story of Van Gogh's genious, his passions and his struggles through his art, touching letters exchanged with the loved ones, and artfully curated themes of each room. I find particularly touching the last painting of his life, a gift for his nephew. Spend some time looking at it. It's full of hope, full of new life. And, I highly recommend getting an audio guide.

"Extraordinary art of the ordinary things". Brilliant paintings by Van Gogh, mostly art of country life.
However, there is a huge queue for tickets. Thus it is highly recommended to buy tickets online to avoid almost an hour long queue in busy time. Would recommend to use hearing device in the museum that would cost 5 euros.

Van Gogh Museum, Amsterdam is another famous museum worth the visit. This museum is smaller compared to Rijks Museum and both the museums are located opposite to each other at walkable distance.
Better to book tickets in advance and reach the museum on time.
About 5 floors displaying the art and life of Can Gogh. There are lot of paintings by other artists in the museum. There are shops selling souvenirs.

Not only stunning artwork but lots of explanations beside various pieces....in Dutch and English. I loved the illustrations about Van Gogh's interpersonal relationships, and excerpts from his letters. It made everything so much more meaningful!

They tell the story of Van Gogh so well! It s a really well put together museum despite only focusing on one artist. Really goes in depth with how Van Gogh worked and thought. There s a few nice interactive aspects to it, which made it really fun.

Go if you love the Gogh. If you don't love him go anyway and learn about a normal man trying to live his life in difficult circumstances. You might find it inspiring and make you reflect on your own life do far.

Just wonderful! Online says you can do it in 1.5hrs but in 3 hrs we rushed the last floor and still didn't do the other portion on the ground floor.. Still magnificent seeing so many in the flesh...

Must see if you visit Amsterdam in my opinion.

A breathtaking experience of seeing so many of my favourite painter's pieces in one place. I did not expect it to be so big and hold so many important works, not only by Vincent himself, but also by those who inspired him and whom he has inspired. It's not only a gallery of his art, but a journey through his life as an artist and as a person. You can see him and his family, read about his story and listen to the letters he wrote. Van Gogh Museum is a must-see for anyone even remotely interested in art, or, to be honest, for everyone in general.

The layout of this museum was great and easy to follow. I highly recommend the audio tour as they have a highlights self guided tour that gives great information about specific pieces that they deemed most important. It was very crowded however this is to be expected. Plan to be here for about 1.5 hours.
