Villa Adriana was an imperial-extra-urban residence from the 2nd century onwards. Wanted by the emperor Hadrian (117-138), it is located near Tivoli (the ancient Tibur). Realized gradually in the first half of the II century a few kilometers from the ancient Tibur, the structure appears a rich complex of buildings spread over a vast area, which had to cover about 120 ha, in an area rich in water sources to 17 Roman miles dall'Urbs [1]. In 1999 Villa Adriana was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

In 2014 it was the twenty-sixth most visited Italian state site, with 232 147 visitors and a total gross income of 546 598 euros

Beautiful to recommend the visit. Very extensive, to be admired also from the benches to rest 5 or 10 minutes. It is very clean, well kept and especially without paper, plastic and cans scattered around there is a lot of civilization.

The site is extremely interesting and definitely worth a visit. Unfortunately when we were there were no guides, only audio guides, the museum with adjoining bars were closed, in short, it seemed quay in a state of abandonment. A real shame considering the importance of the site and the income that the Italian state could do if there were a little more care and publicity in the international tourist circuits.

One of the most beautiful archaeological sites in ...

One of the most beautiful archaeological sites in the world: the Villa dell'Imperatore Adriano. From the current remains you can guess the magnificence and opulence of this place designed by the emperor himself. Do not miss the Canopus (artificial swimming pool) around which Adriano held his banquets and "Le grandi Terme"; in this building, solar energy was used to heat the water through an ingenious dome crossed by coils. You can also visit the museum located on the site, where the Villa's original works and sculptures are collected. Around the archaeological site there is a huge olive grove consisting of majestic and very ancient plants. To appreciate how grand this Villa was, just take a look at the servants' lodgings, consisting of over one hundred rooms, located on different floors.

Site of an unexpected size, really beautiful to visit, surrounded by greenery offers beautiful scenery, there are many areas to visit, do not forget to take a picture at the entrance to the map otherwise you risk not seeing everything. I recommend going with comfortable shoes because you walk a lot.
Entry price not excessive.

Awe inspiring and with some truly ingenious design solutions. Come and admire Hadrian's taste and sense of practicality as well as marvelous surrounding countryside. A must see if you're building your own villa near Rome.

Archaeological site of immense value.

Archaeological site of immense value.
Despite having been stripped of the most precious ornaments, visiting it represents a unique experience of its kind.
Fortunately, no one liked the millions of tuff bricks with which the buildings were built.
Parking 3 for the whole day. By applying Day ... I studied all the points of interest.
Wonderful!!!
To read and reread the book "Memorie di Adriano" by Marguerite Yourcenar.

Beautiful route in the midst of olive trees, oaks, pines and cypresses to discover a magnificent Roman villa ... or rather it would be called a small town
Unfortunately some mosaics are not visible because they are being restored.
Really beautiful natural environment

Archaeological site with a very large park to visit in the middle seasons. You walk a lot but pleasantly, you start with more than 300 meters uphill between an olive grove and green lawn with small daisies and then immerse yourself in the ruins of the imperial era. You can relax by walking among the park's water mirrors. Enjoy your visit.

The place is easily accessible and there is a guarded parking behind the entrance at a cost of 3 for the whole day, also at the entrance there is also the bus stop of the local company (CAT). The cost of the full ticket is 10. The Villa is surrounded by greenery and full of wonderful historical artifacts. Get ready to walk a lot because the place is very big.

Some of the areas of the villa have been closed to visitors; these areas are few but there are. Overall there is some disorganization because I have not seen maps. However, there are at least two drinking fountains that are welcome in summer

Magnificent and imposing place. Reliving the glories of the great emperor Hadrian was a transcendental experience. Unfortunately, maps or guides are not provided free of charge and there is no refreshment point outside the monument.

A place not far from Rome where you can breathe the history and ancient traditions of the Roman people and above all the splendor of the empire. For the youngest and families it is a place not to be missed.
