Beautiful location. Missing refreshment points / bars
One of the most beautiful historical sites in the world
Very nice site ... maybe a little 'lack of signs to describe the remains and not much attention (high grass and public fountains closed) but noteworthy.
Uzasne misto. Adapted, with earth. Krasna atmosfera. It is fairly wide-ranging than it would seem by name. He decides to go on a half day.
An enchanting place full of suggestions that evoke the era of the emperor Hadrian
The guided tour is essential.
Maps are taken at the ticket office but nobody says anything ...
The archaeological site of Villa Adriana is unfortunately not easily reached from the exit of the a / 24 motorway. The complex is very beautiful has a special charm and a unique beauty. Unfortunately it is immense and with the passage of time some areas are forgotten. Toll parking.
A beautiful place, relaxing in the green, a must see.
Fantastic experience at the ancient imperial estates.
Beautiful Roman villa in Tivoli. However, there is a lack of adequate and modern (virtual reality as in Caracalla) in-depth systems.
A place of unique charm, a must see. Maybe later but also during the reading of Yourcenar's masterpiece. However, I would avoid visiting during the warmer months because in many areas, for obvious reasons, there is no shadow.
It has to improve the structure, but the place is beautiful, remember pompei
ingresso intero 8 euro.
ingresso ridotto 4 euro.
gratis per studenti di architettura.
chiusura ore 17.00
Very interesting, simply magnificent ... to visit absolutely.
The villa is fantastic. Organization to forget with an hour in line at the entrance in the sun for just 20 people. Staff almost absent. Beautiful and panoramic places like the Roccabruna tower that are no longer accessible. No checks. Unfortunately now this is the management of abandonment of culture in Lazio. Poor Adriano. Shame.
It was a wonderful experience. A walk of about 3 hours that immerses you in the period of the emperor Hadrian. I would definitely come back.
Very interesting archaeological site, very vast.
We used a guided tour and got a lot more information.
Too bad for the climate, being August it was imaginable
The size of this place is incredible! There is a ton of decent architecture to walk to, in, and around.
However, one can definitely get lost or otherwise lose interest with such a lot of structures in various conditions to cover here.
It's also fairly difficult to get to. The Rome metro only takes one so far: either 1) to the Tiburtina station from where one can take a 3 train to a stop still a few miles away... or 2) to the Ponte Mammolo station from where one can take the regional 2+ Cotral bus to a stop at the end of Via Villa Adriano but still a substantial walk away- it took me 20 minutes with determined, brisk strides. I highly recommend figuring out how to take the even-more-regional 1 C.A.T. bus instead, as that line will eventually take you directly to the Villa. However, you probably need to find your way fairly close via metro and train before being able to purchase a C.A.T. ticket from a local vendor. I'm also not sure how frequently they run, or how reliable their service is.
This place is so underestimated. Everybody goes to villa d'Este (which is beautiful! But always packed with so many tourists) and only a small amount of people go to this magnificent historical place! This place is so lovely! It's basically a city! It's huge!
I really appreciated the benches under the trees every 150-200m, they were of great help for those who can't walk for a long time.
I wish there was somewhere to get fresh water/drinks, other then the 1 spot which is at the beginning of the long tour. After that there's no where to freshen up.
Obviously I understand the importance of the historical place but on a very sunny day in August...it was quite a challenge walking around with no water.
Also, the beginning of the walk is quite a challenge since it's uphill. I saw there's a service with a golf cart for people of older age or pregnant women. That was vhery nice!
Highly recommended!
First: I was born there.
Second: as a boy I explored it far and wide.
Third: there is nothing equal in the world for beauty and extension.
Lovely open space. Beautiful place if it's a sunny day.
Gigantic Imperial "Villa" in Tivoli on the heights of Rome, the excesses and beauty in a park of more than 100 hectares with basins of 100m still in function (Canope)
The dream of an emperor who built an ideal home still makes us dream today. The remains of Villa Adriana tell a story full of charm, an enchanting place to be discovered. I visited it in a day with a guide, but you can also go on your own, perhaps with the help of a book, bring some sandwiches to eat in the shade of magnificent trees. There is no bar but a kiosk with multiple distributors, the bathrooms are spotless and sanitized
Beautiful and very important site. It is very large and everything can be visited. Perhaps it is appropriate to take an audio guide to better understand all the environments. In the summer it is very hot, bring a hat or a parasol.
Villa Adriana and all its park deserve a full day of visit. I recommend a guide, whether it is paper, audio guide or simply something found around on the internet between wikipedia etc. to better appreciate the remains among which you forward.
Bring lunch and a water bottle that you can fill every hundred meters thanks to the numerous fountains scattered around the park.
These places are ne center of the Roman capital.
It is a very old places is from the time in advance of Christ.
Large archaeological site with incredible evidence of looting over time. It always remains an important site
Beautiful park where you can see monumental ruins and structures of the past, the result of a careful and restless mind, open to different styles and customs, the emperor Hadrian precisely ... Too bad the state of degradation and little attention from the personal ... Mirror of the little exquisitely Italian attention towards art and culture in general ... I really wonder what Adriano would think of it today ...
Place of great interest! Well kept. You can spend a really special half day. Strolling through the buildings of two thousand years ago is beautiful!
A place that recalls the greatness of the Roman emperors.
The villa is splendid, too bad we proceed slowly with the restorations and there is disorder and bad management everywhere. It would take little to better manage the structure. 5 stars here for Adriano. Zero x the director. At least Adriano's refuge has been restored even if the restorations made leave a lot of interpretation to what we wanted to recover.
It s a hidden gem close to Rome capital, it s better to go early and take your time to visit each place cuz it s really big and you will be amazed with every corner
Very nice place, spring day, experience already made but always welcome.
Emperor Hadrian has built his retirement home on 125 Ha. Here you can see why the people did not particularly care about the rulers. Waste and pomp have made this facility. Even in the ruins you can still see all this. 13 Euro entrance are worth the visit.
Since it was acquired by the FAI it has returned to its former glory. Wonderful to go to visit absolutely.
Enchanting, retracing those huge spaces, reconstructing and imagining the grandeur and majesty of the villa, makes you go back in time. To improve the care and attention of the routes, SOS cabins and refreshment points (too few)
Wonderful obtain water and patience long but interesting journey not to be missed
Before Tivoli about 1 hour from Rome. I must tell you that I was speechless, this place and crazy there is so much to see. We say villa but the term small town and easier to use when you see the size of the buildings. Counted easily 3h to 4h for the visited completely
The site is (notoriously) exceptional. The visitor, however, should be helped more in viewing the reconstructions of the rooms, which is not easy to read. The signage (obviously dated), on the other hand, is full of rather useless details, such as names and dates relating to the restorations. I understand the sacrosanct recognition of work and merit. But what remains for the tourist?
Wonderful walk among the remains of a very rich historical period. The audio guide allows you to fully enjoy the place.
Unique monument of the imperial era. At least two hours. Watch out for heat and sun (headgear).
In you can picture the grandeur and magnificance of these ruins and what was then it's spectacular.
It was so nice to have no people and be quiet.
It is recommended when you want to get out of the crowded place.
History lovers like me have something to see I enjoyed every moment I traveled there
Atcheological site with mosaic floors serapeum nymphaeum basins beautiful gardens
Loved learning the history about Hadrian and his gay lover. Beautiful grounds!!
An unexpected and surprising leap into the past ..... of unimaginable proportions! A special mention to the Maritime Theater and the Canopus, which with their elegance of shapes and gracefulness have erased every memory of boring and endless school trips.
Very nice still, in excellent condition. I recommend taking the guide
Even if ruins "only", it is a very impressive place, giving some ideas, how the lazy part of Hadrian's life may have been going. Some small but beautiful highlights: the bathroom floor mosaics in the guest houses...
I'll be back for sure. It's like taking a trip back in time. And then it makes us realize why we should preserve culture and civilization. It is what truly endures. The space is quite large with lots to see. Follow the indicated itinerary and set aside some good hours. Inside there is a museum and a cafe / bar, which unfortunately were closed when I visited. Sit on a bench in the Canopy and enjoy.
Beautiful place full of history, unfortunately poorly maintained, many finds are abundant. No map is provided, you have to buy it in the shop.
Parking is sufficient, the paths are wheelchair fair. The terrain is very spacious, but still entertaining. Time you should definitely bring along, but there are many beautiful shady corners invite you to linger. Villa Adriana is one of the most impressive buildings of antiquity. Anyone who takes the time here will not be disappointed.
Experience to try to see what made the emperor Hadrian
The place is beautiful, full of charm and charm, the star less is because we visited it without a guide .. and for those who do not have adequate preparation it is indispensable since the teaching equipment is not absolutely adequate.
A remarkable site rich in history, villa of the emperor Hadrian who is simply the distant memory of the golden age of the Roman Empire.
Amateur of history and archeology this archaeological site deserves all the honors
Wanted by the emperor Hadrian as his residence from 117 AD, the villa was built on the basis of a pre-existing building owned by his wife Vibia Sabina, who constituted its first nucleus.
Built near the capital on the Tiburtini Mountains, about 28 km from Rome, it could be reached either via the via Tiburtina or via Prenestina, or by navigating the river Aniene.
The chosen area was rich in water and four of the ancient aqueducts that served Rome passed through it (Anio Vetus, Anio Novus, Aqua Marcia and Aqua Claudia). In its vicinity there is still the source of sulphurous water of the Acque Albule (the present-day Bagni di Tivoli), known and highly appreciated by the emperor.
This place is stunning. 30 mins outside of Rome easy half day trip. Try to go off peak Jan or February as it will probably be quieter.
Incredible history at an unbelievable scale. The gardens were amazing.
Cool ancient villa ruins, but it's not restored much. We hired a guide which helped us visualize and explain what it was like 1500 years ago. On your own it my be hard to visualize and appreciate.
Very nice experience, prepared guide and generous with information, a visit that is absolutely worth doing despite the heat
A fantastic place, with a good guide you can imagine life and rebuild the Roman villa.
It is not worth it all you have to walk to see it ... and less in summer
Unlike the usual archaeological areas (it is unlike the name, the nearby villa d 'Este is quite another) to make it pleasant are the glitz, the artificial lakes, the extent and variety of areas. My little girl despite the miles and hours has certainly not bored. To improve the signaling of the route and some information tables faded from the sun (leaving out the weeds present in some areas such as the amphitheater). A guide is not essential. A nice surprise !
Really beautiful, unmissable if you are in the area, but it would be worth organizing a trip to see it.
A magnificent place where the beauties of nature blend with the remains of the ancient Roman civilization. To visit absolutely
Remains of villa - country of the emperor Hadrian. Site well maintained and very interesting
