How to describe the feeling of being able to walk through the rooms of a place that has seen and made the history of humanity, touch those walls knowing that bear the weight of millennia! The environment relaxes, instructs and sensitive to the most sensitive at the same time, especially when you come across those small corners where time has failed to erase those traces of mosaics and stucco.
The villa is huge and spending a morning discovering it will leave a precious memory.
Extremely well kept archaeological site. Residence of Emperor Hadrian, tells the history of Rome perhaps better than Rome itself does. It can be difficult to fully understand and appreciate it so it is better to arm yourself with a guide and smartphone but it can be very pleasant even just to walk enjoying the beauty of the ruins. Particularly striking are the canopus with the surrounding structures and the maritime theater.
Wonderful Villa Adriana, certainly one of the most beautiful and well-kept Roman villas. The park is an example of cleanliness and excellent maintenance. Accessible paths, archaeological excavations that can be visited in every corner. Many benches to rest in the shade of the wonderful centenary olive trees. Do not miss it and please, respect the place where you are, keep the cards in your pocket until you find the nearest basket, there are many. Enjoy your visit.
Very educational and cultural,
Loved it and I definitely will RECOMMEND it to my friends & to
my clients!!!!
Very large archaeological area to be "only" the villa of a great emperor. Fascinating place that allows you, among the various environments, to really go back in time. Too bad that for many buildings or gardens only ruins have remained standing.
Gorgeous. ... but there are few indications and everything is not taken care of as it deserves
A magnificent place! Congratulations to the guide who accompanied us in the visit (Alessandra), really prepared.
Just wonderful! The maritime theater then, beautifully restored .......
To see, take at least half a day of time.
Immense archaeological site, unfortunately very damaged, otherwise by extension and magnificence it could remember the Royal Palace of Caserta.
It is advisable to get a site map at the entrance or photograph the map with the various areas of the archaeological site so as not to get lost.
It would take a room dedicated to virtual reality, where you can virtually walk among the buildings of the past as created at the Domus Aurea.
Beautiful guided tour with a competent, courteous and professional guide. Worth the journey.
Handrian's Villa is about 30 minutes drive from Rome. The place is beautiful and very peaceful, it looks more as retreat that actually a Roman Emperor residence.
Definitely worth a visit, the entrance ticket to a dear Po.
It is a wonderful villa with ruins of the era of Emperor Hadrian who was a great architect and great traveler in the villa there are magnificent copies of Greek statues located in the local museum, the Palazzo i hospitalia the canopus that recalls the canal that came with the homonymous city of Alexandria in Egypt and reminded him of Antinori, his lover, who died mysteriously in the Nile. A beautiful temple to the goddess Aphrodite with the copy of Venus Candia of Praxiteles. The villa has filled half of Europe with valuable statues many are now in the Capitoline museums
I recommend taking at least the audio guide, it also has geolocation and is very useful
There could be some benches in front of ticket office where after long day you need to wait for bus to take you back to Tivoli.
Ancient ruins of a Roman villa ... Well it's always a beautiful thing to see.
All these places of history ... they want to be visited!
Absolute top location giving you a very nice view on history 2000 years ago. Would have been an absolute 5 stars if only maintenance and organisation would have been a bit better ...
If you are in Tivoli a visit to the majesty of Villa Adriana must be done. Imagine living in Hadrian's time, palaces, gardens and spas. Pools and statues. A wonderful palace where you can stroll through history!
Beautiful walk in tree groves and ruins of tufa bricks, mostly from 1200 s and world war bombing did its fair share of tumbling of structures.
spectacular!!! I had never been there. beautiful place. impressive. full of history. to visit absolutely.
If you like history and you have a little imagination you will love, visit a Roman imperial villa with lots to see, yes, in ruins mostly. See how big it was and all facilities available to the Emperor Hadrian in this villa is something worth doing if you like history of the Roman Empire. To go from Rome recommend going underground to Ponte Mamolo and traveling on a bus Cotral there. From there, you can then go to Villa de Este and Tivoli on a local bus. Is a half day visit at least you can complete from the other villa and Tivoli
A splendid example of the wealth of the Roman Empire.
Beautiful site. Well kept, there are guides that make you take a tour of the most important places. Difficult, almost impossible, the path for those in a wheelchair. Too bad for the food court at the entrance, it was closed. Visit it!
Fantastic site for a sunny day and history. Recommended to get there in the morning with sandwiches for lunch. For the water there are many drinking fountains. After a nap in the shade you can resume the visit in the less hot hours.
The path is quite marked, but a site map is useful. Rental of the audio guide is highly recommended ( 5).
Archaeological park of considerable historical and naturalistic importance
Stupendous Roman Villa in Tivoli, in a nutshell is a kind of city there are a lot of beautiful green areas as well as the Sacile.
Magic place for history buffs, to be back for sure because a day is not enough. Very popular, both for school children and for individual visitors
Superb, however, museum closed patience this is Italy
I love Roman works and here we are at a great level. I really enjoyed this place
Really well-kept and spectacular park and archaeological finds, not surprisingly a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Path to follow well signposted that runs in about 1 hour and a half. Entrance 10 euros per person and adjacent parking 3 euros. It is really worth a visit.
Beautiful Roman archaeological complex. The Pecile and Canopus complex are spectacular. To be visited absolutely for a walk, for admirers and not only, in the home of Hadrian and ancient Rome.
Beautiful place unfortunately uncared for and unkempt.
I arrive to "Villa Adriana" with the picture of the ticket in my phone (with code number price card etc like i always do. In vatican, versailles whatever its valid) and the woman was very rude with me, and denied to let me in with the picture in my phone and not on paper. I explain to her that im a tourist i dont have a print lazer and all the info is there, im harmless come on! I travel from rome to here for a good experience, i was inspired and in the door this happen? Very bad attitud, well i haded to buy other ticket to her, was so unfair and desapointing. The place great but fired that women, horrible attitude and lack of empathy
Incredible Roman villa comparable to an entire city
Fantastic experience of relaxing walk between ancient Roman ruins in the middle of nature. Recommended for families. Free entry under 18 years.
A timeless place that inspires extraordinary emotions. With a few refreshment points along the way, then, it would be perfect.
Astonishing site of epic Roman ambition and ingenuity. Well worth a visit. Sadly, the information boards are not particularly enlightening and would be insufficient if there were crowds but much information can be found online.
Unique archaeological site in the world. Very big, it takes about a couple of hours to turn it all around. Do not expect gardens and fountains like other villas in Tivoli, because it is another type of villa, which can be defined as an archaeological site. Not easily accessible at all points for elderly or disabled people.
Perfect place! You must definitely visit! This is not a museum or an art gallery. Most likely it is a park in which it is most interesting to go with a guide. There you can spend the whole day and it will not get bored. There are not many visitors. Entrance 10. Restaurants and eateries did not notice.
Wow, Amazing that you can walk in the same place as a Roman empire
A place that fascinates for its history and which immerses you in a historical period of great splendor, splendor and power. The grandeur of a historical period is expressed in the ruins of a residential complex of a Roman emperor
A great place, to discover thousands of interesting things, great, accessible and beautiful
Beautiful archaeological site ... A walk in history
Wonderful. Only it is not a "villa" but a real city. To enjoy it fully, you need to dedicate the right time to it.
The city Palazzo, the monument to the greatness of Rome, the greatness of the emperor and his vision. Unfortunately, time has left less than we would have liked but enough to understand that not only the swords, the sword have made Rome great but also and above all the philosophy, the right and the very idea of Rome. A journey through time.
Five stars for the beauty of the Villa, something less for the maintenance of the same. It is the third time that I visit it, always beautiful and fascinating. Like the other times I found the classic sun-bleached sign, forbidden for the view of some site. I invite visitors to be accompanied by guides or to prepare themselves with various related publications with photos of how they should be the remains that we see, because the imagination hardly reaches what it could be in the past.
I could not believe this place. I felt like I had been catapulted back in time. This place was unbelievable so glad we came here. Gave you a true feeling of how Hadrian and his court lived. Stunning and breathtaking.
An enchanted place among olive trees, waters, aesthetic architectures.
It should be seen with the teaching guide. Fantastic
Tivoli is a city near Rome the villa is a large open-air archeological site where you can walk among the ruins of an old villa C is beautiful and very quiet away from the bustle of Rome
The archaeological park itself is beautiful, but the negligence due to a poor management capacity and the evident incompetence of the staff, make it yet another example of an Italy that works badly. Unfortunately there is no solution and so we keep it that way, with unsafe and full of holes walkways, with some structures covered by forests and many others by scaffolding abandoned perhaps for decades, incredible mosaics of 2000 years ago at the mercy of soles and bad weather, destined to disappear soon. Surely they were better off underground.
A wonderful site, completely surrounded by greenery and extremely suggestive, the only flaws are the difficulty in reaching it (also due to the incorrect indications on google maps) and the neglect reserved for the splendid olive grove that surrounds the whole site that gives to Hadrian's Villa an air of an abandoned city.
Lovely place. It is wonderful to walk around these ruins and fields. Nature blends perfectly with the remains of this marvelous structure.
The magnificence of the villa in a context of 100 hectares of land
Majestic place that exudes history at your fingertips, long walks that will not tire you if you stop on one of the shaded benches of the complex. Wonderful glimpses of chaotic Rome. Valid alternative to Roman forum. Worth a stop if you are nearby. Convenient parking, for a fee but not expensive. If you love the history of our house this is the place to visit.
Beautiful villa. 10 euro ticket cost which is worth them all. The only problem was the access with the stroller a bit problematic. There are many areas closed by cords and few paths accessible on wheels, stairs are many and thanks to the high temperature it was very tiring to visit it.
Beautiful place with so many beautiful things to see. A mini Pompeii
Absolutely worth to pay a visit and see how the rich were or probably are living.
Overall really beautiful villa. rich in Roman history and culture
Amazing UNESCO heritage site. If you are in Italy, come right here.
Beautiful, visited with a local guide very prepared that with a little 'fantasy brought us back to the times of Imperial Rome.
Residence of emperor Hadrian near Tivoli. Place full of art and nature. Superb the surrounding landscape with unique lighting effects. Place of charm.
Absolutely to visit, one of the most important archaeological sites in Europe
Beautiful and vast well-preserved archaeological site. The model at the entrance to the site gives an idea of the emperor's visionary project.
