YVR is one of the top airports in north america and it shows!

Very clean and modern, easy to navigate and tons of history Canadian and local history throughout the large airport. Lots of Starbucks, Tim Hortons and handy little shops for all your airplane snack needs.

I ve had multiple flights early in the morning and without lines getting through security is quick and efficient.

And when coming back from traveling the passport control section is also streamlined.

If given the chance I would suggest having a layover at YVR!

Arriving from Paris, the passport registration system was not working. Very kindly, the staff provided bottles of water and apologized for making us wait. There were many staff to guide us.
On the way back, we appreciated the comfort and decoration of the airport.
Cons: traffic to the airport by taxi and staggering prices for duty free shops.

I flew in from Hawaii this past week and was greeted by the by a maze of disorganized line-ups, shuttles, and delays. It took exactly one hour just to get through customs. The staff did their best to keep people moving but it was a disorganized mess. It seemed like it was a complete surprise that a bunch of planes had landed at the airport, and the staff were just reacting to this 'novel' situation.

Parking at this airport is a nightmare. Construction everywhere and very poor signage. It has always been the case with the poor signage but now with the construction it is worse. Parking attendants told me this week that they get constant complaints from people about the poor signage and as a result of confusion and the stress of missing flight check in times people are often end up in the highest priced daily parking area. I did speak to three different people about this and here is the response I received: "I spoke with my Manager and she advised there is plenty of additional signage in advance of the airport, prior to the construction areas, which directs people to the VLT (Value Long Term), as well as the jetSet lot, as well as signage directing people to turn for additional parking options." Shamefully poor response. The rest of the services are good but parking, signage, and management response was horrible .

I was surprised how my transfer to the next domestic flight was so quick. The staff is so nice. I was at San Francisco airport weeks ago, and I was almost missed my flight. Passengers are definitely treated well in Canada.

If you are either a passenger or an employee, this airport never fails to impress its professional well layed out design. It helps passengers get to where they need to be quickly with allowances for hospitality. It also helps employees navigate employee only and passenger areas with ease. Great airport for efficiency, cleanliness and effective service.

Undoubtedly the best airport in Western Canada. I always transition from Vancouver International Airport whenever I travel overseas. There's a lot of activities to keep yourself busy while waiting for an connecting flight. You can dine in at one of the many fine cuisine restaurants, pick up and enjoy newspapers/magazines at the news stand, or go shopping in the customs shops. The airport even have First Nations arts and an giant fish aquarium. Overall, it is an very positive experience at YVR.

I'm giving this "international" airport two stars for being warm, dry, and secure. 2:30 in the afternoon after traveling across Canada and nearly everything is closed. It literally looks like a ghost town. There are no information agents to help you, just a questionable community telephone on which you can spin the wheel of disease for assistance, in the midst of a GLOBAL PANDEMIC.

The one burger joint that is open has arrows for direction and markings for social distancing while ordering; however, they are only there to confuse the wary traveler; you actually line up from the other side and stand close together.

Vancouver "International" Airport social distancing is to close off 1/3 of the food court to have everyone as tightly packed as possible. Absolutely brilliant.

I went to Vancouver for 10 years and I thought about it and tried to go out leisurely. Why are there so many people? Vancouver is no longer a convenient airport. If you authenticate your information to the machine you end up with it. Brief interview before going out at the end. Why are you here? I came back to Vancouver in 10 years. I'm traveling ... Okay ...
The airport is small but well understood.
In the past, I was fluent in English, but it was nice to see Korean Chinese at Vancouver Airport. It turns out there are a lot of Chinese in Vancouver.

Airport is beautiful, but the customs will racially profile you
A long line of African Americans, Arabs, Asians, however not a single white. Very disappointed in the way they treated us. Was searched and harasssed , questioned about employment etc all kinds of rude questions. Very unsatisfied. Will not land here again

I just want to bring a friend to the airport and of course I know that it is expensive to park there with a car. So I just drop the person of and went back to the car. Than I wanted to pay the parking fees. I arrived at the machine after 24min, and it seemed to be CAN$ 5 which is ok, but the machine doesn t took my 3 different $5 bills. After trying an other machine I decided to pay with debit. This was at minute 31 so I had to pay $10 which is also understandable. But at these moment I get the coin back and drove to the gate, the gate doesn't opened. Than I changed the gate to a personal Assistent and she told me that the payment didn t go through. I was surprised about this and payed again $10 at the counter. After I checked my online account I saw that they charged me twice! So I payed $20 for 31min parking!

This is a very easy airport to get in and out of. I had no trouble following the signs, going into the parking garage, and picking up someone late. The lobby was easy to navigate. Nice airport from what I can tell.

I'm from Montreal on a domestic flight. It was interesting to see the art of the aboriginal people and the fountain. You can go directly to the Skytrain platform by climbing up to the fourth floor with a lift. There was Seven Eleven. I feel that there are few toilets.

Vancouver International Airport is the only gate in the west of Canada. There are tourists from all over the world and from Canada. It is bustling and is the second busiest airport in Canada. The airport has a totem showing Indians and expresses to the Indians. Respect, and show visitors to countries around the world that Canada is a multicultural and friendly country!

A cool airport with lots of options that's completely let down by how long it takes to do everything! We were in queuing pens upstairs waiting just for there to be enough space to join the queue in the immigration hall! Security lines were long on our departure too.

gate staff also fairly clueless.

A mixed bag- with less queues, i'd up the rating.

Worst international airport ever. I was transfer a...

Worst international airport ever. I was transfer at Vancouver from Ottawa to San Francisco. My flight was 13 mins earlier and I had 1 hour and 40mins to connect to my next flight. However the safety check only open two gates for about 70 travelers. And I kept telling the airport staffs that my flight would be leaving within 30mins. The answers were same "Sorry. It's U.S. Custom". I was not the only one who was late for the flight. But the following experience was even worse. Since I missed the flight, and sadly it's my first time missing flight, I kept asking different staffs. All I got were " sorry, I don't know neither," or "You should call the security", or "I'm busy go ask the guy over there". After calling the customer center, Canada boarder, which hang out my phone after I told them my situation without any explains, and four or five staffs. I gave up and waiting for my flight carrier. An hour later the westjet staff helped me go back to the check-in spot and I was rescheduled the next available flight. By this point the time was 3.30pm and I arrived at 11.17am. I thought everything would be alright after all theses "Impressive" experience. However, again at the safety check line, I was asked to take out the liquids from my make-up bag. For all the flights I have had, I swear this was definitely first time that I already prepared a makeup bag to take out for safety check but I have to pick out all the expensive ones into a special plastic bag for check. I mean I had a one liter plastic bag prepared for checking why I have to pick out from it. I'm wondering if I brought some expensive skin cares and they couldn't fit into the tiny bag given by Vancouver airport staff, so my skin cares may end up into the staff's pocket freely? I have pass the U.S. airports checking with the same bag as well as Toronto and Ottawa airport for couple times. But at Vancouver airport, wow, so "Strict". The lady behind me said to me "All around the world, this is first time". This is my first time at Vancouver airport and I'm pretty sure this will my last time as well.

I would have given YVR a better score except I attempted the domestic transfers / terminals for the first time and found them to be fairly meh in comparison to the international portions.

I suppose this is similar in many places where the international parts are just snazzier than the domestic terminals but the difference here is quite stark. The international portions have better food options and definitely newer facilities whereas domestic ... seems like they just really didn't care.

Also beware that transfering from Domestic to International and vise versa is EXTREMELY confusing, and longwinded ... leave plenty of time to make that epic walk!

has everything you need in a Truly FIVE star Airport. This airport outbeats LAX and Seatac by 100 times. No American Airports come close. This airport as customers and frequent flyers in mind. Restaurants and Deli are priced affordability and extremely fresh. Very comfortable for long layovers and free wifi that you dont need to constantly need to sign in, also downloads are very fast. YVR Vancouver Airport truly top 3 best airports in the World.

Bought a expensive bottle of champagne at Santa Ana airport. We bought inside at wine store on inside of security while waiting to board. Clerk advised we could take bottle in carry on.
We had connecting flight threw Vancouver to Calgary.
We got to security check point in Vancouver and they confiscated the bottle of champagne plus the unopened bottle of smart water purchased at airport as well.
It made no sense why security would take liquids in middle of flight.
To say least I was unimpressed otherwise would not have purchased. I am pretty smart that way. Security said I could put it in checked baggage but we didn t have any because our bags were going straight threw to Calgary. Duh.
Anyways we will hopefully never have to go through Vancouver again for future flights.
Totally disappointed.

It's a good and comfortable airport. Food options are so so but maybe with the new restaurants opened now, it will be better. Need good food options not only past security but outside security as you are wishing with family prior to departure.

Worst airport experience ever. The lines were so long for everything. We were pulled from a line to go a faster route with no lines only to find ourselves at the back of an even longer line. It took one and a quarter hours to get to our gate without stopping at all. And then the coke machine stole my money and gave me no drink or change. Have travelled a lot and would prefer either Heathrow or LAX anyway. Avoid this airport if you can. Everyone was working hard but the facilities are woefully inadequate to cope with the traffic.

Vancouver International Airport is one of the most beautiful airports I have ever come across. The facilities are clean, staff is friendly and there are wonderful monuments such as totem poles found around every corner. Checking in and passing security works quickly and smoothly and took about twenty minutes in my case.

The Vancouver International Airport has many shopping and dining options. From fast food to almost fine dining you can find many options in this airport. I especially like the effort the airport has taken into curating art pieces and sculptures throughout the terminal. While it is a fairly spread out airport it is pretty quick to get around. The views from the airport are also exceptional as you get to see the mountains in the distance.

Staff are very friendly and will even go out of their way to help you. Canadian TSA are very patient, a lot of pit stops, restaurant selections are endless with semi reasonable prices. In conclusion one of the best airports in Canada
