Everything was nice, clean, and comfortable. They hosted a 'Billy Strings Block' for his 3 night new years show. The hotel ran shuttles back and fourth and added more when the seats filled up. Big shout to Paul the van driver for being kind and funny while driving lots of people back and fourth over New Years.

I reported to hotel management about by stay that I had ringworm outbreak. Before I placed fault on your hotel I spoke with a medical professional , weighted out possible situations that could have caused this occurrence and all fingers pointed at the location. Not only did I have ring worms I also had E.Coli. Upon checking into my room, I took a brief nap cause due to exhaustion from all day travel. I noticed immediately the room has singe of moldy smell, the sheets were dingy, and had scent of smoke. After taking my brief nap I went to the hotel desk clerk and requested clean sheets and new towels. Cause the towels look very dingy.
The front desk clerk informed me that the housekeeper probably left for the day but she will try, offer me bonus credits and apologized. Upon my return my be was made, the toilet seat was left up. I disregard the minor things (end tables not wiped off, carpet coming up ,stains on comforter) and went sleep cause due to my busy day and early morning agenda.
A week later is when I notice lost of hair and not feeling very well. After my urgent care visit I contacted the hotel spoke with management, She took my compliant and told me someone would contact me. No apology so of concern, nothing. I was later contacted by liberty mutual the hotel agree dto pay my medical bills. Well I have great health benefits so that total to $40. My stay cost way more and my health has not price on it . This is not only unacceptable but I am still waiting to hear back from management.

The staff was great!! The room was very clean and the bed was heavenly. Ate at the restaurant in the lobby for the breakfast buffet and it was tasty but a little pricey. I definitely recommend this hotel even though it was like 20 minutes away from downtown detriot.

Be very careful when booking this Marriott. They overbook and upon arrival they will tell you there is good news and bad news. Good news is that they have a room for you somewhere else and they are picking up the tab. Bad news is that is not even a comparable room to what you booked because everything else around is 3 stars and lower. Very unprofessional and disrespectful. Seems to be a trend with Marriott lately as I've had it happen to me twice.

This Marriott is on par with any other. The rooms are spacious enough, the beds are comfy, and the design is fairly modern. The lobby has an industrial vibe that's pretty cool. The stairs lead outside, so you are stuck taking the elevators, even if you're only up one floor. The restaurant had a decent variety in menu options, and everything was good. The M Lounge is nice, and the food there is pretty good too. All staff I spoke with were friendly and accommodating, but I didn't have any real conversations besides the initial check in.

If we hadn't found fraudulent charges to our room from their gift shop and lounge, the rating would be a 4/5.
The bed and bathroom were okay.
WiFi isn't free? It's 2016, Marriott.
Can easily hear hallway traffic.

Very nice rooms with big TV's and fridges. Kind of hard to get to and not near any shopping or activities. Two pools - outdoor and indoor but outdoor pool is closed for some reason?!? Friendly staff.

My stay was wonderful. But I had a problem, the hotel charged me double, and when I tried to reach the hotel to correct the error, nobody was able to answer my call as I would expect, and also no return call after I left a message. The issue was resolved after I called the hotel back. However I would like the hotel call me to resolve the problem.

The pool area and the pool water were both freezing cold & my room wasn't cleaned one night. They left garbage behind, didn't change my sheets, but through away over a half box of pizza in the trash. SMH

WOW, Bar service was slow. One bartender to serve 40 people. There was a second gentleman behind the bar that washed glasses and didn t help the customers. Bartender would leave the bar for 5 minutes at a time to get food have a smoke or something. Due to understaffing it took 45 min to get the wrong plate of food.

Totally failed to cater to the type of guests staying in the hotel. We were there for a hockey tournament and the hotel signed up to be one of the choices for all the hockey families. When we arrived we were told essentially nothing fun could happen in the hotel. Here are the things that were explicitly not allowed (they patrolled to ensure these rules were followed): - no outside food or beverages in ANY common area - no playing mini sticks in the building. (No playing at all really) - no hockey sticks allowed in the building (they kept trying to put players sticks in the coat check) - no gathering in the hallways They also made a horrible decision by putting the team all over the hotel instead of in one area so that any noise disturbed regular guests instead of just our team. If you sign up for having hockey teams stay in your hotel you should plan to be more accommodating than the "fun police" at this hotel were.

UPDATE: In response to the GM replying to my review: Your staff told us explicitly that all of those activities were NOT allowed and there was even an email sent outlining that a few days prior to us arriving (when it was far too late to change our reservation). If the "normal hockey activities" won't be allowed perhaps indicate that during the reservation process so that teams and families are making informed decisions.

Nicely arranged hotel. You can actually eat at this inviting restaurant/bar. It accomodates a variety of groups, with intimacy, nice lighting and a superb staff.
The beds and bedding were first rate. Be sure not to miss all the delights of Cranbrook House and Academy close by.
Superb art, architecture, museum and grounds.

Clean, friendly staff, just wish the breakfast started earlier, at 6. Having to travel into the city to be somewhere before 7 leaves me with no opportunity to enjoy a breakfast before I leave. I also wish that there was a microwave in the room with the fridge. Bar has decent prices for a hotel bar and the drinks are good for the price. Hoping to stay here for future business trips, but would really have to consider the breakfast situation if for more than a few days.
