YVR may be trying to compete with Toronto as Canad...

YVR may be trying to compete with Toronto as Canada's worst airport. Transferred there on a flight from Edmonton to Honolulu (and return). Walked a mile to get to a mile long security line (although we had never left the secured area). YVR staff were trying to move people up in the line whose flight was departing as they were still standing in this ridiculous line. Thankfully our flight was delayed so we made it just in time to board (1h 45 m layover, plus 30 min delay). Random YVR staff scanning our boarding passes for no apparent reason both coming and going. Then when returning we followed the signs for WestJet quick connect, only to find YVR staff redirecting us away from the signs, out of the secured area so we could walk another mile to our gate. It's a really pretty airport, but terrible layout/distance for transfers, desperately in need of more accurate signage, and perhaps more security lines if you're trying to get 6 flights through at the same time. Good thing you can pay all those people in green vests to randomly scan boarding passes.

Was only passing through briefly for a connecting flight. Didn't have any problems. I must say that its a very visually appealing airport with a lot of Canadian culture and Canadiana on display. That part I really enjoyed. I saw a nice little waterfall/fountain and other random displays.

Pity experience, take all money itinerary lodging and immigration agents are the worst they denied me the access in addition to the approximately 10 Mexicans who arrived on that flight treated us as criminals that without counting that they took my cell phone and left me incommunicado 12 hours to invite me back another day leave much to be desired

Quite a old fashion airport, a bit bore to stay for over night, but the airport transit hotel was a great view to watch airplane take off and landing At the airport transit hotel, if you have the opportunity, you must stay for a night. The view is amazing. Sitting in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows, you can watch the plane take off and land in front of you. You seem to feel that you can get in touch with the plane and it is worth staying.

1 lane open at 2pm......... huge lineups ? Ridiculous waited over 40 minutes to go through security. Once I got into the airport I used the washroom. Washroom had 0 soap in any of the dispensers. Tons of employees walking around but apparently they aren't doing much. If I could give this a negative star I would, "8 years in a row best airport" highly unlikely.

Fly out of YVR every month. If you fly early morning out of gate B there is no good place to sit and eat breakfast. Terminals are clean though and are in good repair. Recently they upgraded security to be automated so they can hire a couple less staff per security line and now my bags get searched every trip through security. My wait time to get through security has increased by ten min average just waiting in another line on the other side of security now for my bag to get searched because the computer sees something that is not there. Today my bag got searched/sniffed before and after security, adding that much more time to my adventure. At least there was two people doing the bag search today. Last couple times I flew there was only one person and a line of almost 15 people getting bags searched. Staff is polite though for the most part.

It took us over 1.5 hours to get through customs. I ve been to multiple countries and have never experienced a cue like this one. There were multiple machines open when we were getting in the final line which seemed inefficient considering how long the line still was when we were finally leaving.

Washroom is ok compared to US airports, but huge step backward comparing to Asian/Australian Airport.

Limited airline, not a great choice for a long layover. Things inside Airport is a bit expensive, security measure is average.......

It can be confusing the first time, and maybe the second time as well, but I love the dining options and bars at the airport as well as how clean it is. It s better, so understandably you have to look a little longer to find your gate. Security is rather quick.

Vancouver Airport is a smooth running and well laid out airport. The workers are friendly and security is fast and efficient. Everything is well signed in both French and English. There is plenty of seating and lots of places to plug your devices in once you are through security and waiting at the gates. We enjoyed seeing the artwork that was featured around the terminal. It made the time we had until our flight go quickly.

Relatively modern and new airport. It is a bit small compared to some other international airports. Flying into USA requires you to go through USA immigration, but it is a quick process as it is automated.

I thought that using a machine to conduct immigration was advanced, but just wearing a jacket was a job. It doesn't make any sense to prove it's sightseeing. There are many strange people at the airport!

It's very frustrating when you arrive for an early a.m. flight and there are no porters available. What are you supposed to do with your luggage? I was traveling with a dog, carry on & 4 suitcases.

My family was there last week because my father was going back to his home country after spending entire vacation quaratined at home. While we were saying good byes, an employee approached and told us to get out (he actually said 'get out') the airport because we are not travelling. My mother was crying because her huband is going away, but the airport staff didn't show any sympathy and repeated, "get out immediately." This isn't grocery store or a restaurant. This is where people come and say hellos and good byes. We left the airport feeling empty and sad.

It's a beautiful airport with friendly staff, however, the pickup zones are a zoo, especially the domestic terminal. There is a huge empty lane for cabs and a small space for private cars, making it a mess and very dangerous for drivers and pedestrians

This is one of Canada's most used airports and I live near it and have flown in and out of it and through it my whole life. Its well designed, easy to navigate and the staff are firm but fair. There are many people complaining about things like "late for connecting flights", "long customs waits", "no priority lines". Please take the time to get over yourself. It is nobody's fault but yours if you poorly planned a connecting flight without at minimum 2.5 hours between flights at Canada's 2nd busiest airport. Although it can be a courtesy, its not a expectancy for airports to pave a red carpet for you because you are poor planned or impatient. I have many travelers but in front of me and nag me to let them in front to rush for flights that I was also on. You are not the center of the world -.- But anyways GOOD JOB YVR! Please never cater to the selfish!

The actually airport is really nice and clean, and the wifi is good too. The only bad part about the airport is the pick up location doesn't allow you to wait in your car for longer than a few minutes.

Compared to most other airports in North America this place is awesome. Modern, lots of space and never overcrowded. There is a nice selection of restaurants and lots of shopping. Outside the airport there is a large shopping mall accessible by SkyTrain (automated light rail system) for free. So if you are staying for a few hours you can hop on the train and be in the mall in 5 minutes. The same train connects the airport to downtown Vancouver for $5 or so.

Downside of the airport - A little bit kitschy design with over the top nature dioramas and slow luggage delivery, especially later at night.
