If you're looking to go here I'd suggest you find somewhere else to go. This is a pathetic sorry excuse of a hospital. The staff is always like a ghost, they rarely let themselves be seen. The nurses have inappropriate behavior and no work ethic. They also have a tendency to make fun of other patients right in front of you. There is no love for their job, they seem to only care about the pay check. The admission wait is longer than 3 hours and once you finally get a room you have to wait an additional 6 hours for them to even see you let alone have a nurse check on you. This hospital is a disgrace to the good doctors and nurses who actually care about people.

The service is horrible, most times when they run diagnostic tests they will claim that there is something wrong with you, tell you they can't treat it there, then send you to a good hospital in San Antonio where they tell you that the Val Verde Regional Medical Center essentially lied to you about what is truly wrong with you and ends up being a waste of your money. Do not go to VVRMC. Save yourself the ambulance or helicopter bill and just come straight to a hospital in San Antonio. In San Antonio the doctors actually know what they are talking about and how to read diagnostic exams, unlike the idiots in Del Rio.

Ended up in the emergency room with my daughter August of last year. At the time we were on Medicaid out of Pennsylvania and just passing through. They have been told numerous times how to properly file their claim by the insurance company, who even sent instructions in writing, but still illegally try to collect payment due to their own incompetence in their billing department. I was told by my insurance, it is unlawful for them to take the actions they are taking which includes sending me to a creditor and trashing my score. All they have to do is call a freaking 1-800 number to get an id number for their form so it will be approved. Why can't these people get their act together when they have had almost a year to do so? It will be 1yr year of this headache in a couple of months. Save your time, credit score, and sanity to make the trip to San Antonio if you can help it.

I just got home from a 3 day stay after giving birth to my son and I felt I had to get online and leave a review. First of all, the staff was EXCELLENT, so helping and so kind! Nurses are not always that nice and helpful (I'm from San Antonio), i feel very blessed to have given birth and spend my sons first few days of life at this facility! Oh and the food was great, and even though I was discharged a whole day and a half before him, they fed me for free while I stayed with him :) 5 stars to Val Verde medical center, I can't thank you enough!

Horrible place, wait times are so bad we had to take our daughter to another facility. After waiting in the ER for 5 hours. After we told the people in the front desk that we were leaving they told us we were going to get charged for the er visit. Really we are waiting for 5 hours with a 2 year old with 103.8 fever and all they told us is we are getting billed for the visit. Someone needs to do something about this horrible place!

There are no words to describe the incompetence, and under-staffing at this facility. We requested to move our daughter to a hospital in San Antonio because there was no pediatrician on staff and we were met with condescending remarks and divisiveness. It took getting the Chief of Operations called on to move her. The only one good thing about this hospital was a Nurse and at that she was contracted through an agency and would move in a year. Finally, transferred to San Antonio and the level of care, attention does not compare. To toy with the health of an individual is unimaginable, insulting; this hospital is driven by greed, pride, and bad management.

Horrible! Took my daughter in due to an asthma attack. Took them about two hours to take her vitals . She had another asthma attack while we were there, I told the idiots that were working, they gave me some water and handed me some paper towels to clean her up since she vomited. Useless people! Horrible.

When you feel pain, they feel a financial opportunity, especially if you say the words "insurance" or "airman" or "military spouse" or "tricare". I mean look at all these reviews!!! They know what they are and now you should too. Avoid unless it's a life-threatening emergency. Evil, corrupt.

You are better off going to a clinic. This place will do nothing for you and bill you an extreme amount of money .my son went to val verde regional medical center ER department cause he wasn't feeling well. My son was there for a couple of hours and was given nothing what so ever. The doctor gave him a prescription and told him to get it at a pharmacy. Next thing you know a couple of weeks later he received two Bill's totaling almost 10,000 dollars. For what ? For sitting there a couple of hours in pain . How is this place still in business, oh I know how by ripping people off that's how. People look at there reviews before ruining your life and going to this 1 star ratt trap.

Wish I could give negative stars! I simply needed to get a work release to show that my only COVID test came back negative. I was told to go to any of the clinics to get my documentation. After getting the runaround for two days, late today I was informed that they couldn't produce the documentation, and I would have to go to the clinic where the test was done. Really? In the age of computers, they can't manage to transfer information or even bother to call to find out if the clinic they are sending me to is even open, which it wasn't contrary to what they tried to tell me (by the way, it's one of their own clinics). No one checks for answers and all seem to come up with their own, random answers rather than at least referring to talking points for consistency. The place is locked down like Fort Knox, and they think you should wait outside in 100+ degree temps for answers (that they are guessing rather than looking up). The signage is horrible and doesn't give adequate direction to newcomers. I pointed this out, and the response was "Well, you're here now." Talk about uncaring! If I get sick, I'm going to my dog's vet. He's gotten better treatment there than I have here.

I gave birth back in 2013 and I can honestly say I have never been treated so well in a hospital. I was so sore I couldn't pick up my own child so the nurses were constantly helping me at 3 in the morning hold my daughter. I had complications with my delivery and they did so well dealing with it. I most definitely recommend this hospital

Sat there for 2 hours with my pregnant wife from 12:20 to 2:20 and then finally walked out. My wife got pulled back for the initial exam, took 2 minutes and then was never seen again. This is the 4th time this has happened to us. Nobody else in the lobby and we can t get pulled back for 2 whole hours? It happens every time. Slowest hospital I ve ever been in.

The worst hospital ever been in. My husband goes in 3 AM because of seizures, and high blood sugar levels. They give my husband blood tests, EEG, EKG, ultrasounds of the veins in his throat and his doctor, Dr. Lyndsey, is so busy that he can t come back and read a report for us, he doesn t even have the empathy to relieve us of our fears, to have somebody else come and read the report to us and explain the report to us. No, I had to go on Facebook and find a doctor to read us the report and explain what it said. And still 4 days here and no one has explain what the hell happened and what their doing or thinking of doing, so I don t have to worry about this happening again.
Val Verde medical center is the worst hospital in the country! If you get sick, don t come here, go to Bracketville or Uvalde or San Antonio because Del Rio s hospitals are worthless and unfeeling.

ER room was filthy nurses talking laughing and carrying and snacking away while there were people in the ER with broken bones from an accident and and patients with tremendous infections, but they were having fun snacking on everything they had on the nurses desk whoever runs this Hospital needs to pay more attention to their staff. To to top it off they are extremely rude... the only people that were nice and gave us good information were the paramedics that brought into San Antonio
People if you don't like your job go do something else don't put patience lives in danger.

The wait time at the Registration office is so long. I wait for two hours to get lab work done. Then had to wait another twenty minutes to actually get the labs work done. To top all of that they had to draw on both arms because the first lady didn't know how to draw the blood work. This place use to be really good with everything, but with the new people in charge it has gone way down on quality of care.

Most incompetent staff ever. They mess up on your billing even when you pay all up font in cash, they do not know what policies and procedures to follow and they are not very professional when confronted. Their staff consists of very young and inexperienced individuals. I do not recommend this hospital at all. You are better off making the 2 1/2 hour drive to San Antonio.

Both nurses were amazing but the Dr acted like he didn't care at all and like it was inconvenient for him that I was there. I found out about a week ago that I was pregnant and I've had 2 previous miscarriages so when I started cramping last night i went to get checked out. As soon he walked into the room and introduced himself he said "I'm not giving you an ultrasound and you don't look sick" I was so confused because I NEVER not once last night said I was sick or ill nor did I say I wanted or needed an ultrasound. I thought for a second maybe he had me confused with another patient until I heard him say to a nurse at the desk "she must want an ultrasound because she dosent have insurance" I was insulted when I herd that. Then again that's American health care i guess

My dad came in for a broken shoulder and they told him he has a small fracture... he goes to Uvalde and it turns out the ball of his shoulder is completely broken. It has at least 6 fractures. Val Verde did nothing for him. Don't come here unless you want a band aid or an ice pack!

Terrible place. Since we arrived the staff was very hostile. Doctor never showed up to explain what was he going to do with our son, registration clerk had an attitude from hell, a nurse kept yelling from her station, we overheard her say to "let us simmer while we waited for doctor", at the end we opted out to take our son out of the hospital, they did nothing to try to stop us or something. Truly unprofessional. I only added a star because I had to in order to post my review.

While traveling across the country we needed to go to an urgent care on a Sunday. We came to this emergency room. We were taken back promptly, every thing was done quickly and efficiently. EKG and lab work done and we were back on the road within 2 hours. Staff was professional. Excellent experience.

Basic business courtesy mandates some form of communication. The culture of any organization is shaped by the worst behavior people are willing to tolerate which is a lack of communication from Clare Aycock.
The recruiter Clare Aycock is not a communicative person & does not reply back to emails.

The difficulty we experienced in just going in for...

The difficulty we experienced in just going in for Lab work , was just that an experience . The wait in registration was over two hours, unbelievable! I wish the staff would Read the mission for this facility over and over, it s not a priority by any means. I am a nurse who misses who work dearly , but I could not imagine working in a facility that provides this type of care. I could not be a part of that! I feel for all the elderly people who just get dropped off by family members or who do t know better as to what is and isn t acceptable. Just sitting in waiting room you see and hear so much.one complain after another. It s so understandable why everyone travels to San Antonio or further for health care or they just move because of it. Why is it so hard to provide care and concern as a common decency to people especially elderly, I said after the experience my uncle went through 2 years ago where no one could diagnose his cancer time and time again, that I would not even take my dog to that facility, I gave them a chance with my Mother simple lab order but that was a nightmare as well. How does this place stay open? It s very sad to hear staff members say it s horrible and they travel to San Antonio as well , it s just a job. Del Rio used to be a great community , but it s gone to Hell and that s so very sad! I don t even want to give you a One Star Rating , it s too high

Del Rio needs to bring in other ER facilities for its citizens! Val Verde Regional Medical Center-ER is horrible! Long wait time, staff forgets you are there and the facility is filthy!!! This ER causes me great concern as it is the only ER in the city. Patients are not a top priority here. I am reaching out to Texas Department of State Health Services. The health and life of a patient is not a matter to be taken lightly.
