It's pricey and the tables are quite close inside so sitting next to some can be an issue. For me it is a top choice for dinner on a night out!

I wish we didn t order so many dishes because I am so full, but the point is that it s not possible! Once you tasted one dish, you fall in love and want more and more. The meal is not only very tasty but also very-very beautiful. Also, I like the interior, which brings fantastic atmosphere.

Beautiful patio to have lunch or dinner. The food is delicious. I had a filet mignon that was very flavorful and came the way I asked. My boy friend never was there before and he was very impressed.

What a beautiful spot! The ambience is as excellent as the food and the wine. The plates are small, so make it a point to get an appetizer. The service was attentive, professional and friendly. Try and get a table in the back patio by the big tree or the koi pond, it makes for a pretty backdrop while you're eating.

Octopus and Pt. Reyes blue Cheese Plate. A few of the great dishes. Pork Belly and Braised Short Ribs were excellent, but by far the Black Cod was amazing. Cod literally melts in your mouth. Wish the old fashioned was better as I am not a wine drinker. Food was fabulous.

Wow is all I really have to say about this place. Their tours are definitely recommended, and the small plates are fantastic. Staff is also knowledgeable and playful, which is a must for new at this kind of setting. A very good value for the money.
Just went for the 1st time, for our 32nd wedding anniversary. My husband says he's moving in here, will wash dishes all day long in exchange for servings of their braised short ribs with polenta. I will miss him. :)
Consistently good. A refresh on their menu occasionally , and some more fresh salad choices , would get them to 5 stars in my estimation.

Service was 5/5 stars. Diego and the backwaiter was really attentive, very friendly and made us all feel welcomed. They were very accommodating, and was an example of what extraordinary service looks like.
Personally, I think the food was a 4/5. It was great, but in my opinion was overpriced for what it was.

M wife and I moved out of the area about five years ago, but still occasionally visit for holidays and family occasions. We will always take time out of one evening to indulge ourselves in their delicious food and wines.
It was the worst because the clerk's attitude was close before closing.
Great to see little has changed here over 10+ years. Food is still great and service is decent during peak hours. For the best experience, sit outside during a warm night so you can enjoy the ambiance of the outdoor seating (they also have heat lamps if it's a little chilly out). Va de Vi serves up tapas style dishes - best to be enjoyed with friends. Of course, you could just come alone but you'll end up eating way too much if you want a good sample.
This was one of the worst meals I've ever had. The seating outside at this restaurant is nice, but the food is terrible. We ordered the cornmeal fried chicken. The chicken itself was okay, but we had to literally fish it out of the plate and eat it by itself. Everything else on the plate was terrible. The tomatillos were extremely sour. The sauce was spicy and the beans were not cooked properly and therefore inedible. The sour and the spicy combined so poorly, just a tiny amount of those flavours left a terrible taste in our mouths and turned our stomachs. We had to go to the Habit afterwards and order a burger (it was after nine thirty and we didn't know where else to go), just to get rid of the taste of this meal and settle our stomachs...Who thought of combining extreme sour with spicy, without something sweet (like some rice or potato) to buffer the impact of those two extreme tastes together? A complete lack of thought on the part of the chefs...

I have been going to this restaurant regularly for many years. I always liked this place, as they have great food along with great wines.
However, i had a bad experience today. My buddy and i walked in around 4pm, and as i always do, walked right to the back by the big tree and circle and grabbed a table for two. I knew that the person waiting the tables in that area would prefer that we check with the host first. Given that it was 4pm only, i skipped that step. In the past, the waiter would contact the host on our behalf and all would be fine. Not this time, the female waiter insisted that we vacate the table and check first with the host, with not a smile and a stern voice. I decided to ignore her and asked my buddy to stay sitting, then i went to talk to the host and all was fine.
Many drinks later, i accidentally knocked down my glass of wine and it spilled onto the table. We asked for help and a gentleman brought us extra napkins and that was it. Nobody came to clean our table. Our waiter did not enquire whether we wanted a new glass of wine. She just ignored us and eventually my buddy waved to her and she came to our table. He asked her for a replacement glass of wine and she did not look too pleased for it. She tried to explain to us that it was our fault but by that time i have had enough of her. I asked for the bill, paid and left.
Wow what a restaurant! I've heard so many great things about this place I decided to try it. I booked a last minute reservation 2 days in advance but usually you would need to book it a week or so before. I liked sitting by the bar though so that would be available last minute.
Great wine and atmosphere, especially if you can grab a table outside! Don't leave before you try the black cod...amazing :)

Bistro wine pub. It's regal stay. The meal consists of smaller snacks that you can eat together. A team of at least five chefs knows how to play with flavors, bringing unexpected treats to the table. There is an extensive wine arrangement, and a wine tasting is recommendable.

Went here for our anniversary! It was a very nice experience, and the staff were wonderful! They serve a very interesting, Asian inspired menu. Also, if you're visiting in the summer make sure to try the squash blossoms!
My only complaint was the Virgin mint mojito they made my boyfriend was very bitter and lacked a good mint flavor. I'd recommend against ordering that.

A bit on the expensive side, but very pleasant. Some of the tapas are imaginative, like the stuffed peppers, or the artichoke and leak bruschetta. Large selection of intriguing wines. Outdoor sitting during lunchtime on a weekend was perfect and not too crowded. Service was very friendly, and apologetic when a single sausage failed to materialize after about 30 minutes, so I'm chalking that one as a fluke.

One of the more underrated restaurants in the bay area. All of the small plates are great, they have fun wine flights to try, and if the weather is nice, which it usually is in Walnut Creek there is a great outdoor seating area Under an oak tree.
Risotto was delicious! They have cheap wine flights. Souffle was also good and worth the wait
This was my first visit to this restaurant and the food was amazing, outside patio was lovely, and the drink selections were of my pleasing as I tend to prefer sparkling wines. The only part that my group left feeling disappointed with was the service. Our server comments when we asked what came with certain dishes on the menu was " it comes with whatever is on the menu". She seemed annoyed we were asking several questions which made us feel uneasy. Not sure if she was having a rough day but we will not going back after this experience.
LOVE IT!!!!! Please please please order the cheese plate, if anything, I would go to this restaurant JUST for the cheese plate, but even everything else is amazing. While a little on the pricey side, all the food is to die for and definitely worth it. If you want recommendations, make sure to order the rissotto for your main course and the flourless cake for dessert (it takes a while but, trust me, worth it!)
Relaxed and beautiful outdoor seating under an old oak tree. Delicious "small" plates (small only by typical American standards). Our kid loved the food and the pond stocked with koi fish and turtles.
Holy guacamole, this place was amazing. You have to try the Cod, it literally melts in your mouth. I actually went out and bought the cook book for this place just because of the Cod.

That being said, the service is always great and wine list is great. The food has never been disappointing and I can't think of a time that I left wanting.

Always a great meal here. The plates change too frequently to speak ill or positive of a particular dish, but the Ahi tartare and the braised beef is always around and perfectly delicious. They've done a great job adjusting to covid and have plenty of spaced out external seating.

Va de Vi was phenomenal as always. We opted for outdoors today, next to the fountain, under a shady umbrella. My husband loves their take on the Negroni cocktail (smoky and complex). I enjoyed the delicate sweetness of the Pina Colada Punch, though from the current cocktail menu my favorite is probably the Careless Whisper, which is a bit more intense. The absolute standout of our lunch today was the Thai Ribs. So amazing. We pushed ourselves to try new things. It's always hard to be there and pass up the Alaskan Black Cod, and the crispy, sweet Lechon (pork bellies). We eschewed dessert today in favor of the Master Blend wine tasting (a trio of lovely red wines from California and France) with an accompaniment of cheese, the Tomme de Savoie with house-made marmalade. That marmalade was such a perfect balance of sweet and subtle bitter that we asked if they'd sell us some. And they did!

I have been here a few times and they have yet to disappoint. The service is quick and the food is wonderful. Most of the menu is small portions so you can sample a few dishes for one meal. They have a wonderful selection of wines and cocktails as well. My favorite spot is actually the chefs table. My wife and I love to sit there and watch the cooks in action during the rush, it's almost meditative. Will be here again and again!
Beautiful outdoor dining with relaxed service! No rushing here and the good was delicious! Everything I'd small plates, so you can share and try lots of different dishes. Delightful! I'm planning to go back!

Very good selection on wines and Bubbles and which we had both. The pomme frites are always the bomb had the buffalo Califlower great but could have used a little more blue cheese to cook the heat. The bartender was animated and entertaining. Good Times would definitely be back.

Waiters usually give genuine recommendations. Soup shots are always good. This is the only place I will indulge in their garlic fries :-)
