Great food and service was great as well. It's a nice spot for a Sunday brunch to catch up with friends under the sun. Can't recommend this place enough.

Love the food selection and tastes in addition to wonderful wine flights.Go- to place for group special occasions reserving one of the larger outdoor table.
It's pricey and the tables are quite close inside so sitting next to some can be an issue. For me it is a top choice for dinner on a night out!

One of the more underrated restaurants in the bay area. All of the small plates are great, they have fun wine flights to try, and if the weather is nice, which it usually is in Walnut Creek there is a great outdoor seating area Under an oak tree.

Chef Andrew really knows his stuff. Glad to have access to such a high Calibre of culinary cadre this far out in the East Bay. Bravo, Chef!

Haven't been here in a decade, and MY BAD! The food was delicious, the menu is innovative, service was friendly, and outdoor dining terrific. What a gem, so glad to reconnect.

Lack of service just to get dessert. Place was not busy, we immediately got a seat. Took 10 minutes for one of the waiters to greet us (only because my bf waved them down). We were there for an 1 hr and 15 minutes just to get coffee and two desserts (and yes one of which we asked for to go because it said it would take 20 min to make and we put both orders in at the same time). During that time the waiter didn't refill our coffee until I waved him down and asked and not even sure if he checked to see if we liked the dessert that we ate there. Dessert was good which is why I gave the place 2 stars. Will try this place again for lunch or dinner however, this was our first time here and was not impressed.

The wine selection was nice, especially some of the tasting selections, and everything we ate was good. Be aware that the portions are more tapas sized than meal sized and plan to order a few different items to share.

Haven't been here in over 10 years. The food, service, and wine are still top notch. Btw, the exec chef was on duty, and dude had that kitchen happy and working.

$19 dollars for 2 pieces of Copa, 4 of mediocre salami and around 3 ounces of terrine .... REALLY???? Decent to good wine list but glacial service and did I mention the stale crackers they brought when I complained about the pitiful charcuterie?? never going back under any circumstances,

A little bummed they cannot carry the rose wines year round but the brussel sprouts are simply superb!

VA de Vi is excellence delivered. Easily the best restaurant in Walnut Creek, the quality they put into every dish is fantastic.
The textures and flavors are well thought out, to include select cocktails that are both complex and interesting.
This is the best place to go when you just need excellent food and service. Perfect for first dates to leave an impression, and memorable moments. To the owner and chef, thank you.

This Bistro and Wine Bar was lovely. It was spaced out well and the tables for four were set apart with greenery in an Ell shape. The large koi pond gave a relaxing atmosphere. We had the dessert sampler which was delicious and just right for two.

My go to favorite spot when in Walnut Creek. Wonderful small plates and a very complimentary wine list. A lovely spot outside to add to your meal.

My first time in Walnut Creek in forever, maybe ever actually... cute little downtown area. This spot has a really nice outside patio both in front of the restaurant (small space) and on the alley side.
We tried the beet and citrus salad - amazing!!! Such great flavors, I never would have thought to use those flavors. I actually took a crummy picture because I already started eating it
The curry chicken was delish and the salmon was yummy. The pomegranate molasses was a bit sweet, but all tasty.

Had a great dish and a few okay dishes. Turns out we did not order their signature dishes or the popular ones. Service was a little slow, but the server was very knowledgeable and busy. Atmosphere was really nice and drinks were good. Got in before our reservation time which is a bonus. I would ask the server for suggestions before ordering.

4.5 stars, great atmosphere, feels like a european alley vibe hidden among the walnut creek hustle. Food was great, truffle gnocchi was good but couldn t taste truffle. The steak tartare was awesome. The cheese plate had two great cheeses, one of them was just okay. The risotto carbonara was nice, I d get rid of the pea tendrils as they outdo the carbonara sauce. The blondie was flawless. Definitely worth a check out but be prepared to spend.

Fantastic tapas place! Regardless of the country of origin of these dishes, Va de Vi makes these items amazingly well. We've gone back on two occasions, and both times our dishes had rich sauces and delicious flavors. Not cheap, but not unreasonably expensive either.

If you're looking for an amazing wine and tapas place, you've found it!!! Small plates to share but big enough to share with another ! Tacos were amazing, as was the cod.. also got the fried chicken which was good but not as good as the tacos. Chacuterie on point which you choose what cheese and meat you want for 6$ each. Some may think it is pricey, but absolutely great quality! Dessert was peanut butter smores and profiteroles with coffee gelato. Will be back for sure!!

I love trying new places and this place came highly recommended, so I gave it a try and let me tell you we've tried just about everything on menu. The food is beyond delish and the wine selection is just as good. And the chocolate souffle.... oh my my, it was magic in my mouth

It was busy when we came so it is expected that service would take longer.mMy husband and I shared the Spanish wine flight which was really good wine. For the food, we had the lechon, ahi tartare, grilled octopus, mushroom risotto, and alaskan cod. Everything was good.For dessert we had the dessert sampler, 'twas also good.

Zagat rated establishments only, eh? So I thought, "What could impress a Big City Girl like my aunt, in a small town like Walnut Creek?" Va di Vie. I would just have to hope that she liked it!

I've been here on numerous occasions from family celebrations to dates, and each time the wine is just as delicious and the small plates are exceptional in flavor.

Recommended (pretty much anything, but here are my highlights):

ANY of their wine flights (delicious and well priced for a generous pour)
Duck confit
Prawns adobo
Ahi tuna tartar
Lamb chops
Butternut squash Ravioli
Butternut squash soup shooter
Chocolate souffle

The service here is excellent as well, from hostess to server to bartender, they are all attentive and pleasantly conversational.

If it's a nice summer day or night in Walnut Creek, request a table outside toward the back patio, next to the coy pond. However, on a chilly evening, indoor seating is cozy and intimate.

After the meal, she looked around and said, "I'm impressed. Not bad for Walnut Creek." Score!

*Tip: even on a weekday evening, make a reservation! Otherwise, you'll find yourself waiting up to 30 minutes for a free table.

The pork belly and Alaskan cod were AMAZING! The cod was definitely my favorite. The toffee pudding was great too! I will definitely be coming back!

Beautiful outdoor dining with relaxed service! No rushing here and the good was delicious! Everything I'd small plates, so you can share and try lots of different dishes. Delightful! I'm planning to go back!

Came here for my wife s birthday and she wanted a fancier place then usual and this place is just that! We had excellent service with a wonderful selection of great food plus some amazing desserts!

Absolutely adore this place. Beautiful scenery/decor set up, super delicious food (some of the best in the world honestly), and amazing service. Definetely one of the more fancier restaurants out there (therefore quite pricey) but it is very well worth it! This by far is one of my favorite fancier places to go to celebrate an anniversary, birthday, or any special event! Highly recommend the desserts!! I always get the sample one because they give you a little bit of everything on their dessert menu!

Favorite place in WC, where there are a lot of lovely restaurants to choose from. All of the food is good. The wine flights with their catchy names are fun to try.

Very bad quality food and a very rude server who lied to manager that we were rude to her. Unapologetic manager defending his server.

Short rib and polenta among the best I have ever had. Pork belly was similarly as good. Salad was decent.

Loved the quiet back patio under the oak tree away from the street, and the small plates were excellent as usual. I would deduct half a star as the service was mostly good but once or twice disappeared a bit too long.

Food is good but the portions are really very small plates. It will not be enough if you are hungry
