Va de Vi was phenomenal as always. We opted for outdoors today, next to the fountain, under a shady umbrella. My husband loves their take on the Negroni cocktail (smoky and complex). I enjoyed the delicate sweetness of the Pina Colada Punch, though from the current cocktail menu my favorite is probably the Careless Whisper, which is a bit more intense. The absolute standout of our lunch today was the Thai Ribs. So amazing. We pushed ourselves to try new things. It's always hard to be there and pass up the Alaskan Black Cod, and the crispy, sweet Lechon (pork bellies). We eschewed dessert today in favor of the Master Blend wine tasting (a trio of lovely red wines from California and France) with an accompaniment of cheese, the Tomme de Savoie with house-made marmalade. That marmalade was such a perfect balance of sweet and subtle bitter that we asked if they'd sell us some. And they did!
