Attended annual Zoo Rendezvous fund raiser. Best party of the year. No program, no speeches, just tons of all kinds of food and open bars throughout. Great music. Great weather this time of year.

Wonderful zoo with well-maintained exhibits and a delightful variety of animals. The zoo is on the slope of the Wasatch front so there are steep hills so more difficult for patients in wheelchairs but still ADA accessible. The majority of the zoo's parking is across the street so I recommend visiting earlier in the day for closer parking.

Such a cool zoo! It s nice to have such a variety of animals right here in Salt Lake City. This year I bought a season pass for my wife and I and it was totally worth it. I believe that if you go three times you will get your money s worth. The elephants are usually pretty active.

We went for the Boo Lights in October. It was neat to see the lights. You couldn't see very many animals though. Obviously the Boo Lights experience is different than it would be normally during the day.

Hogle Zoo is doing a great job of keeping the zoo modern and up-to-date with interesting attractions. Most of the animals seem fairly comfortable, considering their predicament. The food quality is well above expectations for a zoo and there are plenty of things to keep the whole family busy for an entire day.

We are blessed with a great zoo here in SLC and it has improved greatly the past few years. I'm being gracious. Really only 3 stars but that's just because of all the animals that used to be there and are no longer and I feel the cost is a bit high for how long you can actually stay there. Food at the Beastro is quite good but also on the high side for my liking. We really enjoyed the big (and little) cats and the red panda exibit is the best we have seen anywhere. We stayed away for years but over the past 5 or so we have visited at least 1-2 times a year. Probably time to get a membership.

We spent 4 hours exploring and seeing the animals. We watched them feed the elephants, giraffes, and rhinoceroses. It was great fun! We stopped for a pretzel and cheese half way through. And of course bought souvenirs before we left. Nice exhibits. Great selection of animals. Wonderful way to spend the day!

This is a good little zoo. Obviously smaller and with fewer animals than a zoo like San Diego, it is actually do-able in a day. The zoo often runs "wild Wednesdays" during the cold months when admission is free to all. There are some playgrounds to give the littles a chance to play. There is also a beautiful, if very overpriced, carousel earning money to support conservation efforts. Tickets for one ride in the carousel were 2.50$ a person when we went last. Most of the enclosures seem pretty thoughtful designed for the animals happiness and human viewing.

This is a nice little zoo! Bathrooms and the grounds we're spotless, but the windows to each animal enclosure was extremely dirty and hard to see through, and the zoo itself is really small. All in all, though, we had a great time!

Couple visit on August 13, 2017. Paid $ 16.95 per person tax included. Senior rates of $ 14.95 are for those 65 and over. We stayed around from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The bird show was interrupted due to the thunderstorm. It was ok for what we saw without being spectacular either. We are dissatisfied with our visit as a whole and find it difficult to imagine the large number of favorable reviews. Children can certainly be fulfilled but for adults, it's a different story. The animals don't seem so happy as many reviews suggest. There are also some scams with which we completely disagree as additional costs inside after paying the entry price as for the little safari train and the carousel and especially for that of being able to feed the giraffes. Formal ban on touching these if we don't pay. And several employees are present to ensure that everything goes according to the rules. There are even wooden structures preventing friendly giraffes from socializing with other visitors who decide not to contribute to this additional cost. No question for us to give more than the entry price which is already too high for the little that this zoo offers according to our criteria. The zoo is also very little indicated in the city and we see no sign on Highway 15, which is inconceivable for a zoo that seems so popular. We begin to perceive some discreet indications when we drive on University boulevard before turning on sunshine avenue. This zoo is in dire need of touch-ups everywhere. There is a lack of life on the site in our opinion and the animals seem to be bored and are often alone in their care. It may seem pretentious but we are not normally. Several American cities like Memphis to name one, have top quality zoos and Salt Lake City should be among these cities but this is not the case in our opinion.

The bird show is an added attraction here. The birds will be flying just above your head when called by the zoo staff. The elephant show and the giraffe feeding are the exclusive shows we like in addition to the amazing aqua life. The zoo is very well maintained and it is a great place to visit with family.

Not a large zoo, but the exhibits are well done. Highly recommend if you want a couple hours of fun.

The Lions were sleeping directly in front of the viewing area that day. A small example of what made this zoo stand out.

My experience at this zoo for my first time was absolutely horrifying. The place seemed cool until I saw the lions. They where laying near the glass window. There where 2 mothers with about 3 childrens. The children where kicking the glass! The mothers just sat their and watched and didn't tell them not to do that. Also, I noticed, their fox habitat it tiny. It was very sad. Most the animals where pacing back and forth. They where in little cages, with children pressed against the glass yelling at them to move and stuff. To make things worse, When I got over to the Black Footed Cats, One of them was sleeping. Two little kids come up to it and where banging their fists on the glass. There parents where no where to be seen. So parents don't watch their kids and teach them NOT to bang or kick the glass. The habitats are pretty small. And the tiger looked underfed. I really do not want to come back to this place.

I've been coming to Utah's Hogle Zoo for over 20 years and my memories as a child are completely different than my experiences as an adult. I do love the bird show and the seal enclosure, but that's about all I can truly say I love about this zoo. The elephant show is worth watching once, if you can get a good spot.

I do respect the zoo for what they've been trying to do with less animals, bigger enclosures, but I feel like there's still a lot of improvements needed. The big cat exhibits need a lot of love. Some things feel old and could use some love as well. Monkey and great ape enclosures come to mind.

Also, even with the addition of the north parking lot, parking is bad on busy days. They also could really use a skywalk for crossing to and from the north parking lot.

The zoo had wolves, tigers, seal, elephant, graph rhinos, snack, crocodile, tortoise, swim turtle, frogs, lizard, gorelas, monkey, polar bear, grizzly bear, bold eagle, great horn owl, bats, parrot, bobcats, zebras, and more.

I like the zoo and the remodeled look. I don't care for the train ride through the empty exhibits, storage areas, and so few animals. Please fix up the view on the train ride!! Thank you!!

Lots of fun walking around! Especially liked the Elephants, and seeing the otters was nice too! The seals swimming was pretty awesome. Only issue was a bunch of stuff like food spots looked closed, and since I visited in the summer I thought they would be open, but we got ice cream and saw bats and got food at the restaurant over looking the elephants which was just awesome. I was pretty well mesmerized. Don't recommend the chips though, they were not great.

Excellent
