Boring, most animals are hidden or skeeping, shows are off ! Nothing to eat or drink , and prices are chilly !! we got tram tour .. it was silly ,short round .. You can see couple of animals only during 2 min. ride ! I regret that I went there ! 1star cause nothing less!

It's fun to walk around and see the animals. There were new baby monkeys and everything. We really miss seeing the small animal building and train ride because of the pandemic and safety issues. Those are two if the best places to visit.
Visited with my son's family to enjoy Zoo Lights together....and we did. The zoo was busy but not crowded and my granddaughters all enjoyed the lighted displays. So did the adults!
Most amazing time with my grands and my daughter. So affordable for the rides and interaction with the animals . Love, love , love the water park. So fun! Plenty water fountains and restrooms. Very clean. I highly recommend this for your family outings!
I've been attending this zoo since I was little. I feel like it's steadily gone downhill. Although many of the renovations have been very nice (and much needed), there are fewer animals and exhibits. Food prices are very high, but I guess that's to be expected. It's very nice that the grounds are greener (with misters) and cleaner, but I just think we can do better here.
Also, I'm sooooo happy that this lion fountain is still here!
Smaller zoo, but organized and everyone is very kind. They have taken precautions serious and made the experience nice. There was so much little care moments with information, signs, and animals. If you around salt lake it's a nice place to visit.
This zoo is only cares about how much money they can make and not for the animals. Animals have very small cages and where there is space to make there cages larger, they will rather build a food stand. They have poor management and should be closed.
I visited the zoo in 2003 it was so cool to see all the animals. It was a surprise trip fory son,,he so enjoyed and has been back for you zoo lights.. Some day now I live in SLC looking forward to another visit.
Great for the family and had been updated since the last time I was there. Employees are very kind and helpful. Had a wonderful time, can't wait to come again.
Went here with my GF, and spent the whole day exploring and viewing the animals! There are plenty of informational boards for anyone looking to learn more about the animals.
I have a five year old. He loves to look at all the animals, play on the playgrounds, ride the rides, and watch the shows and demonstrations. We have a blast every time!
Had a great time with our kids, I love the changes they have made to the zoo over the years! The polar bear/sea lion exibit has become our favorite spot! They have really changed things up and made it 10 times better than it used to be and have really made the best use of the space they have.
The beautuful upgrades to architecture and awesome landscaping is very nice. We just wish they spent more of their money on getting more of each animal. There were only two or three of each.
A wonderful place to spend the day with kids. The zoo has really improved a lot of exhibits. My kids love looking at the animals but they also love the carousel, train ride and playground.
I feel like the place could be better kept but it s a fun little zoo to go too for a couple of hours. I recommend it, being your own food though, places in the zoo are expensive.
Went to see the lights, half the animals were put away for the night by 6pm and the food was way overpriced. For a family of 6 on a budget but trying to enjoy a family activity, an $80 dinner and $60 for tickets was not worth it. Maybe having a daily family pass or something might make it worth it, but food was definetly over priced with how little of amount of food that came with it.
Wonderful first visit. My family met at the zoo it was a lot of first timers in our family (15) of us . Thanks for everyone who was walking around and working all had masks on, staying safe. Thank you hogel zoo.
That's a nice place for a family gathering, but the reason for one star, it is because the zoo was practically pushing us out of it at 6:00 pm. Very rude people, everything excessively expensive. But the worst part was that other people were there with a yellow wrist band. They had rent the zoo to a group of people. That's the first time I have heard of such things.
Very fun place to take the family we spend a good 4 to 5 hrs their every time we go. They have giraffe feedings, a train, and a carousel. They are always adding new animals which makes it fun to go multiple times a year.
Even during Covid restrictions, Hogle zoo was a good zoo for a summer visit. Temperatures were hot so many animals were resting in the shade of their enclosures. We enjoyed the elephants playing in the mud, the bears swimming in their pools, and the new (to me) African Savanna exhibit. We waited 30 minutes to ride the train (thank you, social distancing) but enjoyed seeing the animals from another viewpoint. The zoo has really done a nice job of updating exhibits. Gone are the concrete enclosures. Exhibits seem both guest and animal friendly. FWIW, most guests wore masks to limit the spread of the virus.
The zoo itself is big enough, 42 acres, but the animals have such small habitats we actually left the zoo a bit depressed. The animals were sad, the elephants wouldn't leave the fence they were trying to escape out of, you can tell where they have worn away at the wood. I just wish the animals had more space and were taken better care of.
Baby enjoyed it she the animals were outside most of the indoor facilities were closed the people at the zoo were friendly courteous they maintain their social distancing but as all places you got to have one that doesn't
Took my son and daughter for the first time and they loved it. Great family place to enjoy together and have a great time. I love that it has a train ride. Food was delicious.
This is a great family event. The Beastro has tasty food and there are other activities for kids to do besides visiting the animals. A great train ride!
These habitats are in a good state for the animals, and also are pretty, because you can see the animals with any problem, specially the one of the lions because they lay next to the glass leaving them quite close to the people
It's often crowded when they have special events but that's to be expected. My family really enjoys the zoo. They have Christmas and Halloween lights and a Santa Claus and workshops for kids throughout the year. There's a train and a merry-go-round and a few food stands and a food court. Well done exhibits and things for the kids to play on. Enjoyable time for all the family.
Hogle Zoo is a good place to visit with family and friend in Utah. From there you have a beautiful mountain view and the wild animals are amazing and secure. My best time going there is looking at the dolphins swimming and it's incredible. They even have food to buy onsite.
The Hogle Zoo is great! My local zoo pass was able tp save me 50% on the price of the tickets. I just wish the train was included in the price of the entry.
Great zoo overall - not as bad as the one we've got in Boise as far as layout is concerned, but still a bit weird to navigate. The animals were fun and active. Exhibits were clean and the animals seemed happy. The variety of animals was pretty impressive and we saw quite a few things that we've never seen before. The walkways and group areas were free from litter and looked very tidy.
One thing that was different here from any other zoo we've been to before was the number of park staff (They were everywhere, and were more than happy to talk to/interact with guests and answer any questions). They were very knowledgeable and seemed to enjoy their work.
We loved the young elephant and got to watch it play in the water. Also, the aviary/reptile house is very impressive.
The Hogle Zoo offers plenty of fun for the whole family, and if you plan your trip on an overcast day a lot of the animals are more active or out and about for better pictures and visibility!
