We just went to the zoo yesterday and I went with my husband & my daughter - for the $25 price we were a bit disappointed. With some of the exhibits, the animals weren't currently in them & for being a Monday afternoon, the train was already done running for the day.
The facility was clean, there was random patches of shade (for an 8 month baby & the heat that was NICE!) but our highlight was the new exhibits. We absolutely loved the bears and the seals. We caught the seal show where they were feeding them and they were just swimming all over the place & it was pretty neat. We were super bummed about some of the cages being empty but the seal show made up for it.

I m not the biggest fan of zoos but my kid really wanted to take me to show me the baby polar bears that the kid saw on a school field trip earlier that month. As far as zoos go the animals seem well looked after. But you don t know what is going on behind the scenes. Lots of information for the kids to learn. And several little play areas. They also have a train (extra charge on top of entrance fee) that drives around d the zoo so you can see the animals if you so desire. The gift shop has the usual gift shoo type things. The bathrooms were clean and stocked. Several food places around mainly offering snack type food. As you would expect a bit on the pricer side for the food. I haven t tried it so don t know if it s worth it.

Thanks to the Z.A.P. tax, the Hogel Zoo has international level facilities and provides a second to none experience. Everything is absolutely first-class and extraordinarily educational, with a conservation heavy theme, of course, while keeping the fun in perfect balance. Along with the amazing array of animal habitats, there are several playgrounds, including water features, amazing sculptures throughout the park, a train, AND food. And then there is my favorite part: The gorgeous antique wooden carousel that has a hundred different hand-painted wooden carvings of the different animals for the seats! I have had an annual pass for several years now.

Hogle Zoo is a fun little zoo. It's a great place to spend the day with the family. There are plenty of displays and activities to keep you busy for hours. The footprint of the Zoo is small and so the use of space has been optimized for the animals that live there and for the education of the people who visit them. The cost may seem high for a single visit; but, the zoo has memberships that allow unlimited visits throughout the year and easily pay for themselves with just a few visits. There is a carousel and small train, that gives a short tour of a portion of the zoo, that children and grandchildren love. Hogle Zoo is a Wonderful place to share time with family and friends and too learn about some of the creatures we share this Earth with.

The Hogle Zoo is so fun! We have taken our one year old a few times now and she loves seeing all the animals. The water animals are our favorite. It is so big and so fun to see the bird show and such. We have the duo pass and then our little one gets in free and it is such a great deal that we can go unlimited times in the year.

I remember going here when I was young. They have done some upgrading and made some improvements. I remember a few more animals than what they have now. But it is worth visiting. There are quite a few restrooms, places to eat, and a gift shop. It is wheelchair accessible. There is a carousel and a train ride. There is plenty of parking available. On a side note, go when it's a little cooler out. The animals are more active.

Wish we were told that not all animsls are available to see. Did a lot of walking just to not see the animals we came to see like the polar bear, red fox and etc. What a rip off paid full price nit worth it. If we were told at the ticket booth then we would have had a choice to not proceed.

They take great care of the animals and the staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. The many exhibits are unique and fun to explore. There are plenty of benches along the paths, places to eat and drink, and misters when it's really hot. This place is open all year and I can't wait to go back.

As far as zoos go, its far from the greatest but, for Utah it's pretty good. My kids love it, and they have a decent selection of animals. The zoo train is pretty pointless so don't waste your time unless you have young kids who like trains. You don't see many animals from the train, just a few on the back lot being held for some reason. I believe when we read the train there were some wild horses that were being treated.

I love going to zoos and out of every zoo I've visited, Hogle Zoo is one of my favorite. Maybe it's because I grew up with Hogle Zoo, maybe it's because I know the zoo well and what I want to see, or maybe it's because the zoo is the perfect size to spend a fun day with the kids, see tons of excellent animals, without feeling like you've walked 30 miles. The only downside of the zoo is that as such a great zoo, it can get crowded. Try going during weekdays or avoiding early afternoon.

How was my visit? Honestly I don't even understand why they're open. I dont feel like I got my moneys worth going bc everything good is closed. Why open the zoo if everything is going to be closed? Def won't be returning for a long long while.

No matter where we travel, we always look up the local zoo. Hogle zoo is really nice. It's got a train that runs around part of it and it wasn't very crowded when we were there. We had a wonderful time and look forward to coming back sometime in the future.

I was able to volunteer here today and it was great! My group and I prepped food (i.e., twigs and leaves) for winter for the giraffes and apes. Rachel, as well as a regular volunteer, shared great information about the giraffes (we were near their enclosure) and the zoo. Fun and educational!

One of the things I really like about Hogle Zoo is the effort they make to give the animals nice enclosures. The zoo was clean, and the staff was friendly and helpful. We were worried we wouldn't see many animals because we couldn't get there till 11 am, but we did, even though they weren't super active.

One of the best zoos I've been to! It's a good size--there's enough to see, but you don't have to take all day. I remember going here as a child and it is definitely the same zoo, but updated. I am sad there are no hippos anymore. I loved seeing them as a child. I'm glad they kept the lion drinking fountains.

My kids LOVE this place. They love riding the train and carousel. They love seeing the animals. They love the playground. The small animal house (although stinky) is always a favorite place to see. The big cats are also impressive.

The zoo is a great weekend experience. The exhibits are open-concept and the animals can be viewed from every angle. The food is not too expensive and the staff is kind and caring. Definitely a good way to spend 3 hours.

Awesome collection of beautiful animals. Coming in on a Sunday definitely permitted for a better view, as there weren't as many of the human species around. The staff are wonderful, Shane at the burger joint made sure we were taken care of with delicious food. Thank you guys very much, you provided my significant other and me with a wonderful date.

The latest updates look great! There's a whole new addition for Admissions on the opposite side of the main parking lot that will be open summer 2020. There animals look healthy and happy. Great for family fun or dates.

Nice zoo experiance... except animals were not very active. Bird show was great. Elephant show was good but very hard to understand speaker, think PA system was poorly adjusted. Good place to spend several hours.

The red panda is the cutest thing I've ever seen. Asian Highlands is beautiful and so much fun. I purchased the family membership and it's the best money I have ever spent. We can go at a very easy pace and just go back again another day to see the other attractions. I loved feeding the giraffe leaves! So much fun.

Great zoo in Salt Lake City! Very friendly employees who are always willing to talk about the animals. Huge variety of animals! Monkeys, lions, tigers, gorillas, bears, elephants, rhinos, and much more! They have a great little train to tour around the Savannah area of the zoo. Also a great carousel with fun animals to ride.

The Hogle Zoo has done so much to make these animals feel at home. Mind you, I don't support captivity for any animal but the ones that can't thrive in the wild deserve a nice place to retire and the Hoogle Zoo is the best place for those animals.

Sad.

Fantastic! I have kids all under age 8; they enjoyed it, we enjoyed it. Great variety of wildlife. They must have known we were coming and because all the animals decided to come out. Considering COVID19, this was really a great place, not over packed but still being frequented. Highly recommend!

Only disappointment was the train ride. Ride quality was nice but duration was very lacking! I mean big time. By the time we felt settled into our seats the ride was concluding. The last segment was all on historical items vs. (And i add emphasis here, Hogle Zoo i hope you read this) showing more of the park. People go to a zoo to be transported to some place they've never been and have only dreamed about as a child. I don't know about other folks but I have generally passed by the "non Zoo" related items and get to the meat of why I paid to get in. Until Hogle decides to up the "Ante" on the train ride and make it longer and more engaging: save your money on this aspect.
