Awesome! What a great place for the whole family. My 2 year old daughter loves the zoo. There is a train and carousel which we ride everytime we go. They also have beer nights during the summer months for adults. Busy at anytime.

It's like small package with multiple offering. Zoo is located in city, close to University. Have variety range of animals. Best for kids, the Zoofari (toy train ride) is thrilling. It's amazing to see Polar Bear, Red Panda, Tiger & Lion along with other animals. One can happily cover in 3-4 hours.

I think the zoo has done a pretty decent job handling the restrictions placed on them by Covid19. It's was actually kind of nice; there was less people and hardly any crowds. There are several things not opened and any type of child interaction is closed. But the main attractions/ animals are available to see. Just make sure you reserve online. No walk ups.

The zoo is just fine. I don't know what you expect. You walk around in the sun and there's random dinosaur robots all throughout. There's sad animals that look totally depressed. There's birds with clipped wings. Elephants that are in the wrong continent. But what can anyone say about all this? It's a freaking zoo, this is what they do, and Hogle seems to do it just fine. Growing up I went to the Bronx Zoo which is like 5 times the size, but there's also like 40 times the population. So I think this fits Utah perfectly. So grab the kids and some suntan lotion and waste a day. I got in for free from tickets some promoter at Les Schwab gave to me. That's honestly probably the only reason I came.

Liked how large crowds were handled. Fun splash pad, carousel when kids needed something else to do. Loved feeding the giraffe and the seals and polar bears. Wish the train ride had more scenery.

Fun

Great place to be, and a great atmosphere for dates and family outings. They have done a really great job at bettering the animal encampments and face lifting the customer experience. It still has a few things that could be improved and animal variety, but that will come with time as the zoo continues to grow. I hope they bring the bird show back soon, it was one of my favorite events to go to. Fun for the whole family.

The zoo itself was good, but people don't wear masks despite that being posted everywhere as a requirement. The zoo staff needs to enforce the mask policy to keep everyone safe. Not a good place to take kids until covid goes away or the zoo starts enforcing their policies, unless you like putting your family at risk so you can see some elephants

As someone who lives in FL and is spoiled by our zoos here...

Food was very affordable, and I was surprised by the quality. My sister and I had a great lunch!

Staff were all very helpful and kind.

Some of the exhibits were obviously older and need some serious updating, but everything was clean and all animals looked comfortable and provided for.

I have to say, I thought the collection of animals was not as diverse as I hoped, but again, the zoos in FL definitely spoil us rotten. I had never seen a polar bear before, so it was amazing to see Hope and Nora play fighting in their pool!

The only thing that I was truly unhappy with was the reptile / small mammal house. There are signs posted that ask people to be quiet, but I can't even describe how loud it was in there. Everyone was screaming and running and climbing rails. For the sake of guests and animals alike, PLEASE post an employee or two to patrol and remind people to tone it down!!

All that said, we had a wonderful time. Thank you, Hogle Zoo!

Red pandas! This was a great experience. Lots of activities for the family. The zoo has a nice flow to it. The lines were long to get in but man, it went fast! Will be visiting here again soon.

I really enjoy the zoo, and I gladly shell out the money to come everytime. I would like to see the zoo start enforcing mask wearing. Only about 50% of people wear them and get very close to you throughout the day. I don't think I'll be back until they start enforcing it.

This is an amazing place to visit during the summer. I wouldn't recommend going when its cold out, as many of the main attractions won't be on display due to their habitat needing to be warm.

We love love love the zoo. Last March we decided to get a family pass, and haven't regretted it for a minute. We have a 2 year old boy, and he loves being able to see the animals. The zoo has some hills, so be prepared to walk up and down some steeps to get around. I look forward to some of their other year round events, such as Zoo lights, both for Halloween and Christmas. I recommend going early right as they open, to get the best views of the animals just as the day is starting, and to beat the crowds.

Loved our visit to Hogle Zoo. It was late in the day by the time we got to the Asian Highlands so the cats were a bit sleepy, but what cat isn t sleepy. We loved how everything was setup and how close we could get to the animals. It was a great experience to be sure.

Felt like we were penned in and were told to hurry through. It was in a line straight through to the end and a lot of the exhibits were closed. I understand the needed restraint and overall still a good visit but this wasn't a great day like it is normally here

It's ALWAYS fun on field trips, wish they had the water fountains working, these poor second graders went to every water fountain available and they were off.. long line at entrance but pretty quick once it gets moving

Utah's Hogle Zoo is by far one of the best metropolitan zoos in the country! They have received grants and funding from the city and county of Salt Lake through is parks and recreation depts. Our favorite exhibit was the polar bear exhibit. If you could have seen what these magnificent animals had for an.exhibit ten or fifteen years ago to what they have now, you would be amazed. It's a completely new facility with a huge swimming area that the two female bears love, check out my videos of threse two bears at play. The zoo also brings in exotic animals and will always let the public know what animal is or isn't on the endangered species list. They also have special events happening daily like an exotic bird show where many of the birds like a golden eagle will swoop down over the top of the audience within inches of the audience's heads. In fact one pass during our show, the eagle's wing actually hit my oldest son on his forehead and nose. Utah's Hogle Zoo is a 42-acre zoo located in Salt Lake City, Utah. It houses animals from diverse ecosystems. It is located at the mouth of Emigration Canyon. Bring in your own food, or there are plenty of dining experiences all around the zoo property, the Zoo also has a hand built carousel with hand carved wooden animals and a stream train ride around some of the zoos rather docile animals.

We LOVED the bird show! I was pleasantly surprised for way smaller zoo to be so adorable. We haven't tried the food yet, but the show alone earns this zoo 5 stars for me. We had passes to the San Diego Zoo and this one is obviously way way smaller, but.. It's still a fun way to be outside and enjoy quality family time. They also have 2 playgrounds my kids really enjoy.

I love the hogle zoo. It's definitely a great place for kids, but it's also fantastic for adults. My girlfriend and I have a season pass and go often. It's a little small which actually works out if you don't want to spend your entire day there you can get through the zoo in less than a couple hours.

This zoo was great! Lots of indoor areas to look at animals during the cold Utah months haha. And they offer free Wednesdays right now! We got to see lots of animals. Most of them were out and active. Not a huge zoo, but not tiny either.

Please note, my review is for the Zoo and not the cost which is WAY TOO MUCH in my opinion for what you get. The zoo itself has a very nice selection of animals and if you go during the winter the crowds are kept at bay making the experience more enjoyable. My kids loved the "kitties" in the small animals building and it's always fun to watch the sea lions and polar bears. If it's been years since you've been, I like the more "natural" exhibits they have compared to the cage rooms of old. The play place with slides, rope bridges, boats, etc will keep your little ones entertained for quite a while if they need a break from looking at animals.

Always a great experience at hogle zoo. They have really put a lot of thought into their exhibits to make them as natural/comfortable as they can for the animals while still employing great viewing opportunities.
We actually did a special behind the scenes giraffe encounter that was absolutely fantastic. We got to ask all the questions we wanted and learn about them directly from their keepers. We even got to hand feed them from the employee only area for a really up close and personal experience!

I visit the Hogle Zoo on a regular basis. I enjoy the walk and the exercise I get from wandering the zoo. I find it to be an educational place to take my grandchildren. There's nothing better than a visual and Hands-On education for children. I love all the tactile exhibits that accompany the habitats for animals. They enable my grandchildren to have a a well-rounded experience. And I can always depend on their food to be healthy and kid friendly. The Hogle Zoo is a great place for your family to build long-lasting memories.

Hogle Zoo is a wonderful place! The Bird Show in the summertime is AMAZING. It's not just a boring let-me-tell-you-about-the-birds lecture; it's AN EVENT, complete with music, birds flying overhead, jokes and entertainment for young and old alike!

Not too pricey if you spend a bit of time there. All the animals were pretty active. The bird show is definitely worth going to. They have events that go on during each season (such as zoo lights during the winter).

It was a very hot day! My family and I got very sweaty. But the animals were fun to see but I couldn't help but worry about some of them. Because it looked like some of them were baking in the hot sun. The tiger for instance was panting very heavily, laying in the hot sun. He looked like he was too weak to get up and walk to his pool to cool off.

The zoo-keepers should try to provide a better form of air conditioning for those animals in the summer, like perhaps put sprinklers in their cages.
