They've really changed the zoo in the last couple of years, unfortunately for the worst. The facilities are now branded. 'Mark Miller's Carousel' is the newest, morst unfortunate attraction. I miss when the zoo felt like a park, instead of an amusement park with amimal themeing.

We love the bird show it is fantastic. Also they have red pandas and a polar bear now. We love the splash pad. The exhibits are nicer and it makes the zoo a more enjoyable place to go!

The Hogle zoo is small and comfortable. It has all the major animals you expect - lions, tigers, elephants, rhinos, hippos, guerillas, giraffes, etc. And it has many smaller animals too - right down to lizards, snakes, and spiders.

Many of the facilities are new; the zoo has completed several major upgrades in recent years. There are places to eat and good food to buy. It does cost some money to get in these days, but the upgraded facilities - for people and the animals - make it worth it. Lots of parking. Strollers and wheelchairs are available. And there are year-round special events including national traveling ones.

They fed their orangutan cardboard, which has carcinogens. He died of cancer a couple years back. Other than that, animals seem well taken care. Interactions with the customer service staff, such as registering a service dog with them, and a few other things, they've always been very rude. If there's an issue, we don't even try to address it with customer service, they're usually worse than the problem. Our attendance has waned because of this.

It was cool. We liked seeing the monkeys and the sand cats and the giraffes. The Red Pandas were hiding, so we didn't get to see them, and the snow leopard wasn't in its usual exhibit either.

Food was fine, we really liked the small animal building!

My family and I have been long-time members of the Hogle Zoo and we've never had a bad experience. Our most recent visit included! We went around 2:00 on a Wednesday, but it was spring break so it was moderately busy in some spots. The zoo is doing their best to keep people safe during this pandemic, with security posted throughout to remind people to wear their masks properly, social distancing markers, and hand sanitizer stations. I was happy to see that the small animal building was open, with an employee stationed out front to monitor masks and how many people were inside at a time. Tauni was the employee while we were there, and she was doing an amazing job! She was very bright and friendly, answering animal questions while waiting for entry to the building. I was very happy to learn more about their Siamese Crocodiles while talking to her!

Exhibits were all well-kept and clean. I am always happy to go to the zoo because I know they hold themselves to the highest standard, given they are accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. The animals were very active and visible, I don't think there was a single animal we couldn't find during our visit. (Definitely make sure to give the baby gorilla and baby monkey a visit!) I can tell that the keepers really care about their animals, I was lucky enough to visit the pinnipeds during a training and I couldn't keep the smile off of my face! The keepers all do such an amazing job and I can't thank them enough for their great work.

The zoo also practices what they preach conservation-wise, by selling water in recyclable cans rather than plastic bottles and their disposable cutlery being made of eco- plastic you can compost! I really appreciate the items they sell in their gift shop made of recycled materials, such as figurines made of flip-flops and statues made of wire taken from poaching equipment.

Overall, I highly recommend visiting the Hogle Zoo. I believe the admission is worth the price, as taking care of so many animals is not a cheap endeavor! I was happy to donate money alongside my gift shop purchase to help take care of the animals. This is a beautiful facility, from the exhibits to the surrounding nature it is built on. Their animals are healthy and well cared for. Just being there helps to inspire me to want to learn and do more for our planet!

Zoo lights are a fun experience with your family. There are some chances to see some animals, but when it is so cold there are very few chances to see the animals. The lights are okay, it's the fun and activity of being with family that makes it a great thing to do. The churros are delicious.

We love the zoo! Lots of great information and really set up well. I don t think it would would be as well worth it if we didn t have season passes. That being said, we definitely consider the investment as worthwhile for our family!

Great zoo! The animals seemed happy and the exhibits were well cared for. Seems like a great zoo for kids - there's a splash pad, carousel, theater, etc. My husband and I slowly walked though, seeing all of the exhibits and we were out in about 1 1/2 hours.

It's unfortunate that they will not honor discounted tickets with having a membership to another affiliated zoo. I understand the limited number of allowed attendees, but it's still advertised as part of the membership to their zoo, but they won't honor it for another zoo membership. Poorly managed policy.

Haven't been there for years but the new layout has more animals, shade for guests and misting areas for guests to cool down at. I miss the hippos but the seals and their show was cool! I had 4 kids under 8 with ke and they all had fun and loved the water area! Great way to cool them all down!

I enjoy my visits to the Zoo. My kids like looking at the animals and riding the train and carousel. I was slightly disappointed in their new African Savanna exhibit. They claimed they would have all the animals together in a simulated ecosystem. However, the predator animals were not included. How awful it must be for them to not get to join their other friends.

My mom and I came to Utah for a visit with family. We took my 3 grandsons to Hogle Zoo for a day. Absolutely loved by all of us!!! We'll definitely be coming back to Hogle Zoo on our next visit to Utah.

Due to the construction going on it s not the zoo it once was. It s always fun to go see animals but at the end of the day kids want interaction with the animals. They want to be able to learn more about wildlife and conservation. More could be done to get the public involved. Parking is an absolute nightmare. But it is a great place to go every now and then if you can catch it at a slow time.

I find it absolutely ridiculous that this establishment does not offer a military discount. They only offer a discount on 4 July and memorial day. This and the difficulty that the staff had answering questions regarding their military policy are the reasons why they are rated poor. The zoo itself was quite nice even with the renovations being made.

Utahs one and only. Literally the best zoo around. I really like the remodel they did with adding the kind of "Sahara" area. Bring the kids and the whole family it'll be a day to remember for sure.

I love taking my family here! It's fun to see the animals, the carousel is huge, and the mini train ride is fun and entertaining. There's a hill behind the Asian cats that you have to climb to see some animals but there isn't much else on the hill. I wish they would put or do something there

Good fun, both adults and kids. I spent 2 hours here. We had fun seeing the animals of all kinds. Giraffe, gorillas, monkeys, birds, otters, seals, lions, leopards, snakes. Then we had lunch, you can bring your own drinks and food or they offer some good food to purchase. Souvenir? Yeah they have quit a few souvenir shops and gift shops to choose from. Good prices also! 3 and under are free

Fun place to go! Very kid friendly and still fun for adults. All the exhibits are very well maintained, the majority of them have been redone over the last 10-15 years. So if you haven't been in a while I suggest you go check it out!

Fun

This place is great! They have made the small footprint of the zoo seem much bigger. Parking can be tight at times but it is also an indication of how busy it is inside. There is room for everyone here. The cost of a membership is worth the price if you even live within 50 miles of here.

A wonderful place to take kids or have fun with adult friends and family. The animals seem very happy, and many of them are rescue animals that they have helped to rehabilitate. If your kids get tired, you can rent strollers, and there are fun play areas throughout the zoo. I have always enjoyed the food at the zoo, it is a little expensive, but they also allow you to bring your own snacks and beverages.

Great medium sized zoo! Parking is free in the lot. We spent a few hours visiting the habitats and had a great time. There was a cute bird show in the amphitheater mid morning. There is a small train available that circles a third of the zoo that we didn't go on. The meerkats were adorable and so were many others including new baby Wildcats that were wrestling and tumbling.

This is my favorite of all Zoos. It's small, so you can see the whole thing in a couple hours--longer if you want to read all the reptile tags. I buy the grandma annual pass, so we can ride the train and the carousel every time. There is a lot of shade in the summer, so it's a fun trip even on a hot day. They also have a splash pad and other playgrounds. Very much geared for children. The polar bear, sea lion, seal, otter enclosure is awesome! You can walk below water level and watch them swim. Polar bears sometimes put on a great show in the water. Love the African savanna too. Peacocks, chickens, ducks roam tame around you. Very friendly place.

This is the first zoo I think I have ever been in. They had a lot of exhibits, if u could see the animals. The shops were way overpriced. They one draw back is that most of the exhibits were outside, and in the summer with 90 degree Temps, it was no fun.
