Well, first I'll start with the good. The staff is so enthusiastic about their job and they're always happy to help! They're better than ever before! The train that goes around the zoo (you know, the one we would beg our parents to take us on when we were kids?) has been extended and gets closer to the exhibits and is more exciting! Now for the (long) list of bad.. They got rid of so many animals and exhibits! Desert animals? Gone. Bats and cave animals? Gone. Penguins? Gone. Butterfly/green house? Gone. Remember how you used to be able to feed some of the animals? For free might I add. Now you can only feed the giraffes, at certain times, and you have to pay $5.00 for 3 pieces of lettuce, yes $5.00 for 3 pieces of lettuce, and you have to wait in a 30-45 minute long line on top of that. You used to be able to feed them a hand full of hay or straw (or something like that) for free, whenever you wanted. The new setup/layout makes you have to walk so far! I didn't even go to all the exhibits and I walked 5.73 miles! They are not keeping an eye on guests whatsoever, when I was there I saw a family, the mom was wearing no shoes and was showing a little too much underbutt, the children were sitting in, practically bathing in the original lion drinking fountain, and their infant was sitting in the stroller, wearing nothing! A "security guard" even walked right passed them and said, nothing! I used to love going to the zoo, I always looked forward to it, and was especially excited if I was going with a friend! Now, you'd have to drag me to the zoo if you wanted me to go. I still go at least once every year just because it's something I've always done and it'd feel wrong to not do it. I'm so sad to see that this happen to the zoo.

Great place. It's been nice seeing it grow to what it is now. I would recommend not going between the hours of 12pm and 3pm because it gets extremely crowded and it's hard seeing an exhibition up close on Saturday.

It's good to do with lots of things to see and they have done a good job on the renovations. I wish there was a few more different kinds of animals to see but what they have is good.. they have a good kids Splash area and playground. I wish the Carousel and the train were included for free since they are not worth the extra money anyway.

The zoo was very fun and contrary to what I thought, not very crowded. I went on a Monday so that could have been to blame but it seemed to me that they were doing a very good job at promoting social distancing.

This is one of the treasured gems of Salt Lake City. The facility is super clean and maintained. The animals all seem to be well cared for and managed. The staff are fairly friendly except for one person who was rude to me today but the team leads seem to be receptive when I reported. The zoo has taken great measures to ensure public safety during the Covid pandemic. I ve been coming for years and have appreciated coming here now more that I have a toddler. I highly recommend and will be back.

I've been going occasionally over the last 20 years. From a kid to an adult, it's impressive how much they can change the zoo. The biggest drawback for me (and this has been the same for as long as I can remember) is how crowded it is. I can't stand people because most people are selfish and crowd the exhibits. They also do a lot of dumb things (teaching your kid that throwing popcorn into the elephant exhibit, is not cool). Every time I want to to go, there are cars parked out on the street halfway down the street from the zoo. This place is overcrowded and always has been. They should have moved this to the west side years ago. There is plenty of space out there. The Aquarium has the right idea, but not enough funding yet.

They do take care of the animals very well here. They always have activities for the animals. Their diets have quite the variety and look healthy. The cages are always clean, and much cleaner than the San Diego Zoo was when we visited there. The staff is amazing too, they are always friendly and helpful.

Overall, I don't think I'm going to go in the summertime. It's far too overcrowded for me. We got a membership in November last time. We've used it once. We've gone there several times but are turned off by how many cars are there every time we want to go. I don't think we are going to get another membership again. We are just wasting money.

It's a great zoo if you don't mind all the people.

Its a very fun place to visit. They follow the safty guide lines with 6ft apart and masks. Although the maks might get distracting, the Amazing animals take your breathe away. They are all so fun to look at, and can be the thing to brighten your day. If you have the time to go, I strongly suggest it. :)

It was beautiful!! We had a great time. I do have to make a point to say that I was rather upset that during normal business hours they train the bears, out of public view...so we did not see any of them. In addition the polar bears pool was being cleaned...but no one was cleaning it...so the polar bear was not there for us to see either. I think these things should be done when the zoo is closed. I am not understanding why it would be done during normal business hours when people come form out of state and pay good money for a family of 5 and yet are not afforded the opportunity to see all the animals. Other than that it was clean and the animals were active and thriving in their habitats.

Our kids were so excited to see all the animals that they would run from one to the next. I actually thought that they would have more animals but I guess the zoo is only so big.

Don't miss the river otters in the back they were really active and fun to watch.

I've lived in this area all my life and have always enjoyed going to the zoo! It's not too big, it's taken care of and clean, and they usually have a good variety of animals. I went during the Covid-19 pandemic and it was a bit different, and some things were closed, but it was still overall a great experience.

A lovely place for family and friends, a perfect place for dates and morning walks. While there's not much to do in the winter as the animals are indoors, the nature and winter lights makes the walking pleasant and a beauty to behold. More

This part of the zoo is fun, but always crowded. The cats can sometimes be hard to see in their habitats, depending on when you're there. The cats also sleep like 20 hours per day so it's more than likely that they'll be asleep if you're there in the middle of the day.

Went to their annual Zoo Lights and had a good time despite the freezing weather. There were only a few animals out that you could see, but the lights were all animal related and cute and creative. The $7 adult entrance isn't cheap, but is at least less expensive than a regular entrance fee during the regular season.

Great small zoo that has a good variety of animals. During the winter the variety of animals is slightly smaller (eg no rhinos, elephants). Highly recommend visiting if you have at least 3-4 hrs to devote.

I just love the zoo, I am crazy about animals but the admission has gotten way too expensive for me to be able to afford going. I want to go seethe red pandas because they are my favorites but I don t have enough money.

With all the funding and remodeling you think there would be more to the park but it seems the other animals are neglected in the new improvements. Wolf still in and depressing cage and the reptile center could be better.

Huge zoo with lots of animals! They added misters & fans for guests because it gets HOT there! It's a great place for families. They even have a splash pad & play area for kids! Now you go to a zoo & you think oh it's to expensive to eat here. I thought the same thing but we were hungry & gave it a try. So we went to the bristo & oh my glob! You get what you pay for! The portions are HUGE!! The food tasted Amazing!!

Good walking. Was able to see both lions sleeping. Fun splash pad and play area. Places to eat and get snacks/slushies. Only reason why I give a four is train and carousel punch pass should be a lot cheaper than what it is.

Plenty of animals worth seeing, unfortunately sometimes you couldnt find them in the enclosure at all. Theres nothing wrong with this zoo, my only quarrel was that many of the zoo associates were younger and the older keepers of the animals were rarely around. This wouldnt have been an issue if all the animals were on display or if they had signs indicating they weren't in their enclosure at the time. They also have giraffe feeding, which was worth waiting for.

Wow what a great zoo, no it's not the national zoo in DC or the San Diego zoo but it's got all the big animals you want to see, they all appear to have plenty of space to move around and they all seem we'll cared for. As a bonus there's a play area for the kids to burn off some energy and for Mom and Dad to recoup some of that energy.

We love the zoo! It is such a great place to come and let everyone burn some energy. We get a season pass and love being able to come and go as we please with our family of kids. You also get a small discount on purchases like food, gifts, etc. Everything is outside except some of the monkeys and the reptiles. Be prepared for the weather of the day. Every spot is stroller/wheel chair friendly and there are only a couple of hills, the rest is mostly flat. You can come early and watch them feed the animals. The holiday events are great and they are open year round. The play areas are great and there are lots of places to stop and sit. You can bring your own food in without issue. Great Friendy staff and good service. Food is decent and the gift shop is super fun. They stopped giving straws and plastic bottles to help protect the animals and the environment!

If you have all day it would be a really nice place.... Even though they have great exhibits it's a little lackluster.... And the staff there does not seem very happy.. it could be worth the money again if you have all day

This zoo is changing for the better. I was amazed at the changes since the last time I visited. The animals are getting spacious new enclosures, which is great. There's still improvements that can be made, but it's so much better than it used to be.

The only complaint I ever have about the zoo is when we have to park across the street in their overflow lot. I hate crossing this busy street with little kids because the speed limit here is 40 or 45 and visibility is not great. Other than that, this zoo is fantastic!
