Had an amazing time! The kids couldn't hold back there excitement the whole time.
Had an amazing time! The kids couldn't hold back there excitement the whole time.
The leopard cub was my favorite. The polar bears and elephants were great. We paid $5 to feed the giraffes and loved it.
Zoo Brew!!!!! Amazing place and always for a great cause!
Love this place, parking is difficult depending on the time you go. But the kids love it, and they've incorporated more shade and seating.
Lots of animals for the kids to explore. Clean place with food to eat and many varieties of animals.
It's a decent zoo. A lot of the animals were sleeping when we were there, so maybe go later in the day if you want them to be active.
We went on their free day. It was very busy and very cold. But it made it so all the animals were active. We loved the tiger.
Pretty good Zoo. Clean wide walking paths. Fun animals to see. They don't have the animal shows going on right now because of COVID-19.
This was a good zoo, the personal were very knowledgeable and helpful.
Great! But would have been nice with more demonstrations, or better information of when they are if they were. :)
It was extremely crowded, especially during a pandemic.
Great zoo! Everything seems well kept up and the animals seem to have good sized enclosures. Love the variety of animals, from otters to red pandas! Great gift shop and many places to eat. My kids love going on the train and carousel.
I was a little disappointed in it I was expectingit's more but it was fun for kids I think they could have added a little bit more fun things for kids to do. Overall we had fun
It was really fun going this time of the year, The animals were very active, we had a lion right at the window scratching on the window. It was the first time I've ever scene one up that close, usually they're sleeping. We had some really good food, it was really cold but we enjoyed.
Nice zoo, not too big , not too small. Fun train to ride and lots of animals to see
It's not huge, but the animal diversity and incredible staff make it a MUST on any visit to SLC. Our family goes almost weekly as it is a perfect place to learn, relax, and take in the wonders of the animal kingdom. And of course, the baby lions are adorable and very social, so you'll probably get a great chance to see the whole lion family.
Spending the day at the Hogle Zoo with my family was absolutely perfect. We could watch all of the animals for hours.
Very nice for children to know a little about animals and their lives.
The bird show is pretty neat. It is only twice a day at 11 and 1, except for friday-sun there is a 3pm show too.
It's the only zoo in Salt Lake City, but it's the best! Really, it is a good zoo. They have/are spending a lot of money updating and adding new areas.
The animals were depressed, all aside from the monkeys and goats. Although, the monkeys still had way too small of an enclosure for comfort. One of them was all alone compulsively scratching itself for minutes straight. Opt for a more humane zoo and don't give this organization your money. I love seeing the animals but they need more space and I won't be returning until they have that.
It was a lot of fun. Plenty of animals to see, and pretty good food options. The exhibits always seem to be getting better each year.
Great place for kids to learn and for boys scouts to get merit badges
Haven't been to this zoo for about ten years. It's not as good as it once was.
Had a great time @ Boo Lights!!! Also seeing & getting video of the Lions @ Sunset & Elephants trying to unlock the wooden gate to let the handlers know they were cold & wanted to go inside was cool!!
Always friendly staff, plenty of keepers to provide additional info and demonstrations of animals
The zoo is pretty small but it is very nice. Everything is very modern and during the winter it is dead. We had a ton of fun.
Zoobrew! A fun event for adults. Would be nice if they started earlier and ended later.
Loved Zoo Brew, amazing experience after hours and without the kids!
Great zoo, lots of animals on display in such a way that you don't spend 15 minutes at each trying to find them. The polar bears are a bunch of clowns that definitely entertain and pretty much steal the show. Not to disparage the other animals but don't skip the polar bears if you go.
Great prices, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable and a decently clean park.
If you have wild kids(like me ) this is a great place to take em. Kids have a cute soft spot for animals.
It's a small Zoo. Will only take you about two hours to see everything. That's the only downside.
However it's a great place for an afternoon outing. It's clean, has character, and even animals sometimes.
I come here every couple years and it's always a good time.
And let's be honest here... What other Zoo around here are you gonna go to instead?
Such a great zoo! Definitely find out when feeding time is for the seals and bears! The seals and sea lions are trained to do tricks and it is so cool to see! Shortly after the seals and sea lions are fed they feed the bears! The grizzly bears are so cute when they eat!
I love this Zoo. I go every year. they have been remodeling it and they are almost done! I HIGHLY recommend you go here soon and see all the new animals and new structures that were built! :) super fun.
Decent upgrades from when I went here last. Of course the food is over priced but at least you can bring in your own food. Some animals just look sad with very little moving space.
The Zoo is a nice park, well run and the animals look healthy and happy. We were in town for a wedding and this was a very fun afternoon with a group of new in-laws, so a good icebreaker. Carousel is fun for all ages, of course.
The Hogle zoo is the perfect blend for a zoo. It's not so huge that it's exhausting but it's big enough to be enjoyable. If you haven't been in the last few years the zoo has really come a long way with new exhibits that are very well done. The animals all look well cared for and healthy which is important to me and they participate in a lot of conservation efforts
We went there for the zoolights and it was awesome! We had a great family time.
Yesterday, I took my toddler to the Hogle Zoo to celebrate his birthday, we had fun seeing the all of the animals; however our first visit ever to the zoo started really bad when one of the employees, a manager I believe, who does not know what customer service is, was very rude to us. There is a policy that there are not balloons allowed in the zoo and my baby had gotten a balloon and we brought it with us. Being our first visit I was not aware of this rule and we were never warned, as we walked in this man who is an employee and one of the manager or supervisor cuts me off stands in front of me, right in front of my face and starts demanding to tell him who let us in at the gate, I was very confuse since I was trying put our tickets away and catch up to my husband. He keeps on demanding, not asking the same thing over again and tells me that that my son can't have his balloon. Now mind you, I do not know how you would have felt in my position, when you are being pretty much yelled at in public and you have to zoo employees in your face, with your son crying because a complete stranger is trying to approach him to take his balloon. I am not mad about the balloon, I really am not I am beyond words mad at this man who treated me and my son with so much disrespect, and never had the decency to offer us an apology. I hope this is not ignored by the Hogle Zoo, and I hope this gentleman is taught how to treat customers! I am so mad about all of this I would think twice about ever going back! It is a real shame that a person like this is in a managing position.
Actually pretty fun in the winter! Not as crowded, and some of the animals seem more active and playful in the snow.
Granted we went in the winter, but almost every animal was indoors, which isn't a problem except the large animals had no indoor viewing area. They price is also the same as the spring, which is kinda silly since 50% of the zoo is closed down.
I love this zoo. From what I saw it was clean and well kept, the animals appeared healthy and well cared for, and my kids loved going!
Love all of the updating that has been happening over the past few years. My kids love the Polar Bears and the Apes. I don't think anything can be done about it but the parking always gets full fast.
We always love the new features and animals at the Hogle zoo!
Love the new renovations and updates! Everything was so nice and clean, good signs and easy directions. Couldn't see any large cats but the polar bear, giraffes, zebras, gorillas, monkeys, otters, etc. Did not disappoint! Had a fun afternoon with the kids. Took us about 2 hours to see it all, plus play at the playground and splash pad. We walk pretty fast though and skipped the carousel so plan more time for that.
It is always a great time at the zoo!!! They are doing a good job of taking care of the animals and people during this difficult and trying time (covid-19)
My wife and I adore the zoo. There's a hundred great things to say about it.
It s a smaller zoo compared to eastern zoos, but it s the best in Utah. They do have a lot of nice exhibits and it is really fun to go. There was a baby monkey in one of the exhibits and the elephants were especially photogenic. It wasn t too busy and took a few hours. My younger siblings loved it. It s not too expensive. Very fun!!
I love the zoo! Great place, loads of fun, you have to go at slow times though it else it's a little crowded.
They had lots of amazing animals at Hogle Zoo and their gift store had a wide selection of souvineers to chose from.I would highly recommend this zoo for others.
We went to the free day last month and yes it was crowded and yes it was hold...but we still had a fun time. This zoo is the perfect size. Large enough to see a lot of animals in large enclosures, but small enough to be manageable in a day or afternoon. The zoo is well maintained...you can tell they take pride in education of their visitors and their care of the animals The carousel is a fav of the kids and my personal favorite is the seal lion / seal show... As well as the bird show in the summer. I usual avoid free days but this one is too good to pass up.
It is a great family activity. We had a good time together there today.
Love this little zoo. So many animals and the kids love the little water park.
The Zoo has done a wonderful job with the lights and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Looking forward to next year's Zoo Brew nights
Overall good Zoo. Hot as heck during the summer. Over priced for food and beverages. Pack your own snacks and what not.
Such a fun zoo!! They have so many fun holiday activitys
Great place to take the kids for an outdoors day. They have a good variety of animals. I was surprised at how big it was.
Great for a full day of non stop entertainment for the kids!
Lovely habitats, happy animals, up on the mountainside - cooler than the valley below. Beautiful flowers, very green, well designed for maximum learning at each exhibit, great train and merry go round.very fun memories everytime. Membership packages like Grandparent Plus make it so convenient to bring guests and treat them all to train and carousel without standing in line to buy tickets.
Best zoo! Polar bear was super playful. Small animals are neat. Be sure to feed giraffes and see the bird show!
Located on SLC's east side in the Foothill Cultural District, Utah's Hogle Zoo is a local gem that gets better and better every year. The polar bears, giraffes, lions . . . if you haven't been in a while or have never been, go soon.
Fun zoo. We were disappointed that the playground was closed though.
This zoo is a pretty disappointing experience. The animals are usually either unhappy, sleeping or just nowhere to be found. They need more space to thrive, especially the pollar bear who was pacing back and forth nervously. I'd rather watch Animal Planet than this torture.
This zoo is too crowded, without much variety, and sometimes you need binoculars to see the animals (or x-ray vision)
Save your money and take a trip to Sand Diego Zoo!
This place is great. if you are looking for a wonderful place to take you kids or a date or even just take a stroll, this is the place. The facility is beautiful and the animals are magnificent. You don't have to be an animal lover to enjoy Hogle Zoo but you probably will be after you do.
Hogle Zoo is a great family place. They have free days every so often which are great! Our little man loves seeing all the animals and because it s so family friendly you can stroller anywhere!
During the winter some of the animals are not out so best time to go would be before winter.
I had a wonderful time at the Hogle zoo! All the animals are interactive and incredibly beautiful, well cared for and I felt really welcome. I'm a wheelchair user and for the most part, the pavement is all smooth and the paths are nice and wide. I did struggle with some doors, they should have buttons to assist the disabled. The sand cat was the cutest! The red panda, the most fun, the snow leopard was asleep with it's paws against the glass. The apes were Majestic. I missed the bird show but I heard it was fabulous. I could have spend hours in the small animals house and with the big cats. There were food options, snacks and an incredible carousel which I got to ride. That was like magic for me. I hope you all have a great time too! Just be aware the further you go into the park, the steeper the inclines. If not for the fence i could have reached out and pet the lions mane.
Zoo was great but the closed the train for ab hour or two to move animals. Bad timing. Purchased train tickets as we entered the zoo. Our group was very disappointed.
It is an awesome experience!! My whole family loved it!!
This zoo is very impressive, everything is very well maintained and all of the exhibits provide great views of all of the animals. It seems like it would be very rare for you to be unable to see the animal because of poor design. Also throughout the park there are plenty of interactive objects and displays to help learn more about the animals. Overall I would have to say this zoo is very much so worth your time.
They've really improved the place over the years. It's worth the visit for sure.
