This was my first visit since my childhood. It seems "less" since then. Not just smaller (I'm bigger), but farther from the animals (a good thing) and the larger animals looked really stressed (not good). Is this the way things are now at Hogle? Or is this just how they are during Zoo Lights season?

Such a nice zoo. The employees are very friendly and helpful. It would've been nice to see more of the animals. I guess going on a day where there were big crowds, wasn't such a good idea. But overall, a really grand time.
This place was an awesome adventure, I went with my family and had a blast. What made our whole visit though, was a volunteer named Annelyse. She knew so much about the Zoo and each animal and really got my kids really excited and she helped make it an experience they'll never forget. My 8 year old John, when we got home asked when we could go back and visit Annelyse and the giraffes, he had that much fun. If anyone from management happens to peep this review, let Annelyse know what a great job she did in making our visit something that will last forever. Thanks Hogle Zoo!
Haven't been here in years and it was awesome! All the new enclosures are so great! I got to take my 8 month old for the 1st time and they way they have designed it, makes it so even she can see and enjoy the animals!
Having come to this zoo since my childhood, I has been heartening in the last ten years to see the renovations to the facilities and, even more so, the animal exhibits. A great day activity for the whole family!
We had a great time looking at the animals and exhibits at Hogle Zoo. It had been quite awhile since we had been to the zoo. It was fun to go as just a couple without children.
Beautiful and since the last time I was there they remodeled everything and now it looks beautiful and brand new, sure the train ride there was short but there was the nice scenery and animals there.
The kids loved seeing the giraffes and zebras right as we entered the park. They also loved the seal exhibit, and the carasel. In the evening we went to Zoo Lights. The Christmas lights were AMAZING!!!!
The updates have made the zoo an even more enjoyable experience. Most of the exhibits have 360 degree viewing, and it's more open overall. Beautiful and fun!
Love this zoo! They have great attractions, smooth walkways, and giant fans with misters to cool off in the heat of summer. We adore the bird show and try to see that every time we go!
My husband and I had so much fun here. The exhibits are great and the animals seem to be well fed and taken care of, which makes me feel good about coming here.
It was really fun. I enjoyed going with my family and seeing the animals. You can even feed the giraffes, but of course there is a fee for that. They have all kinds of animals. Not a small zoo, but not a big one either. There is a small train you can go on. However, we couldn't get on because they closed it for an hour saying that it needed to be cleaned, because ya know, covid-19. Either way it was still fun. They had covid masks on all the park statues. The gift shop was alright. The stuff animals are way to expensive. A small toy that is like $5.99 at Walgreens is $11.99 there. The jewelry was actually a lot more cheaper than the toys. They have cool items at the gift shop, but anything stuff animal related was too pricey. The place is really clean. The animals were so cool to see. They had a good variety of animals to see. They are all so cute. I would definitely go back to the zoo again. But I'm not to sure on that gift shop.
It was a fun free day and not too crowded. My daughter enjoyed it. But being so tiny and with so many kids, she couldn't see a lot of the animals. It was tough going back up hill being 8 months pregnant.
The Hogle zoo has always been a super fun place to go! The exhibits are fun to look at, and it's amazing to see some of the animals they have, and when they have the zoo lights going, they are awesome to go and see as well.
Had a lot of fun. I saw masks everywhere, as well as signs that require them on correctly all over the place. Great way to enjoy a nice spring day with the family.
Amazing place to go. My boyfriend and I were in salt lake visiting some family, and we decided to go to the zoo before we flew home later that day. We had a blast seeing animals that the oregon zoo does not have, and we got to see nora the polar bear who was at the Oregon zoo before. We had a great time, and had some really good food at the beastro too.
I loved it, I highly recommend it after a year without doing a social life we decided to take the girl for her birthday and the best option I found was to go for a bit of nature and we enjoyed it to the fullest. Everyone is responsible for taking care of themselves and thus taking care of Those who are around us, I promise to return
How could you not love the zoo? Great staff and reasonable prices. The animals are wonderful! They staff do a great job enforcing social distancing, and only let a certain amount of people in the park at a time this is the absolute best time to go because there's no crowds or lines!
The facilities are well cared for. All areas are clean. The animals look healthy. For a smaller zoo looking to educate and local conservation, it's excellent. Even though we live an hour away, our family gets an annual pass, because it's such a good value.
Clean and well kept. The animals seem well cared for by the keepers. Go in the morning if you want to see the animals awake and active! The bird show is my favorite and the Seal/Sea Lion show is neat, too!
Asian highlands is one of the funnest parts of the zoo. You will almost always see the snow leopard and jaguar and all through the winter the red panda are active and adorable.
Went to the Zoo Brew in Aug. 2016.Such an awesome event and experience. Was able to see all desired animals and attractions easily with no lines. 21+ and adult beverages.. Winning! Parents/Adults need there breaks & a fun night at the zoo, kid free.. Needs to happen more often! (:
This is a great zoo! I love all the upgrades they have made to the exhibits. And I LOVE all the activities they have for our little ones! The last time we were there, kids were able to feed the giraffes! So cool! They also have a great playground & a splash pad to cool off in so the littles can get refreshed for more animal viewing. Thumbs up Hogle Zoo! The only complaint I have is that it is pricey to get in. You have to save up for a while to go here.
Really fun zoo and it's much better now that all the construction is finished. Don't go later in the afternoon because most of the animals are inside so you can't see them.
Not as big as some other metropolitan zoos, but there is plenty to keep you interested. The bird show is a ton of fun! Staff was friendly and very informative. Be prepared for lots of walking!
The animal exhibits are amazing, splash zone for kids was great to cool off, the chicken tenders were so fresh we thought they came from the zoo, the churros were hard and stale they made us some fresh ones they were still cold from the freezer good fun
Fun for the whole family. They could use some better funding options however to improve some of the animals living conditions. They are however much better than they were 15 years ago.
This zoo does a fantastic job with education, conserveration, and preservation. I always see enrichment in the exhibits, which are well sized and as natural and open as possible. The staff is also friendly and always ready to answer any questions.
This is a pretty nice zoo. I feel bad coming here, just because I feel guilty for animals in captivity, but I do have a good time. It is kind of pricey, I think it was like $17/adult or something crazy like that. The zoo is mostly outdoors, but they have a few indoor areas as well.
I love this Zoo. So fun for kids, families and couples. And even just to go by yourself. They Have A Lion and a Lionness. Now they have A new animal, a Jaguar I think, not sure. I need to see it. I have not seen it yet. We used to live close by an purchased the yearly pass for about 3 years. We really think it is worth it. If you go 3-4 times a year it is worth it.
If you go twice a year a day pass works well. Bring your own food, or leave the zoo to eat and come back. Tge food quality is okay, but expensive- and not worth it if you have kids that are super picky. We love the Bear Exhibits and are sad the Polar Bear passed away. The Gorillas, Monkeys and Orangutans are so fun to see. We also love the seals, sea lions and river otters.
