Utah's Hogle Zoo Reviews

With all the zoo's I've been too, I really appreciated the water pad and play areas for the kids. It gave time for parents to sit down, without the kids complaining.

A fun place to see animals. I really like the bird shows and otter shows. The waterpark is nice for kids on a hot day.

Annual memberships to the zoo are so worth it! You can always get your family plus 2 friends in on the pass, and train & carousel rides are included! If you go a couple times it pays for itself.

The animals are easy to see & seem happy & active (except those lazy lions!) I recommend going early morning, or in early spring/fall when it's cooler but not cold because the animals are more active.

The enclosures here are pretty amazing, with a lot of view points for the animals. There's a good deal of space given over to each enclosure, and a lot of attention is paid to giving the animals habitats that at least come close to matching fully natural.
The tram is a little lackluster, though, compared to what we were expecting. It's about a 10 minute ride around a fifth (ish) of the zoo. Novel for kids, but definitely not a necessary addition for the experience.

I grew up in Utah, and visiting Hogle Zoo was always a highlight when I visited with my family. It's nestled up against the mountains in a beautiful location, and we love seeing the animals. One of the things that stands out to me about this park is how clean and maintained it feels compared to some of the other zoos we've been to.

My toddler loved seeing the animals. He got to feed a giraffe, and saw the elephant show. We love seeing the elephant show.

Always better on a cold rainy day, as less people are there and the animals are more active.

Great zoo. Has all the usual animals. Great layout, friendly, knowledgeable staff. Does get pretty busy, I'd recommend earlier the better.

We love the zoo! Even when it's crowded you can still get around and see all of the animals! Hogle Zoo is a wonderful family environment, and well laid out too.

It tons better than it used to be as a kid. I've since stopped yelling giraffe killer everytime I drove by; as I educated myself more.

I couldn't be more pleased with our experience. We are from out of town, our son was very ill and we were staying in town while he was treated at Primary Children's hospital, and we wanted to do something fun with him before we took him home and this was it.

Awesome zoo! Not too big but by no means a small zoo. They have great animals such as gorrillas, grizzly bears, sea lions, wolves and rhinos!

It was super crowded the day we went and the animals seemed to all be hiding or asleep :(

Love this place! So many animals. They have had several babies recently which makes it so much better. The peacocks were out walking around.

Animals were very entertaining and active especially on a cool spring afternoon. Working on adding to the zoo population.

Decent size, nice variety. It was a nice family experience due to a relatively small size, but items were severely overpriced.

We love the zoo! But today it was crowded, and nearly half of the patrons weren t wearing masks at all or were wearing them incorrectly. I get that people really don t care, but I would have thought the zoo would have been interested in the safety of the patrons. But we saw not a single zoo employee reminding people of the NUMEROUS signs reminding of the mask mandate that is still in effect in Salt Lake City. The idea of trusting people to think of others before themselves simply doesn t work in Itah.

Hogle Zoo is a great place for kids and families. My family loves it and we just renewed our zoo pass which i highly recommend.

Always love going to the zoo! They actually care about the animals well being here and do everything they can to make it a great experience! They've raised their prices to almost $20/person which I guess isnt too bad but when you factor in everything else you have to buy for the kids it gets a bit expensive. All in all it was a great trip!

Nice zoo - small so very walkable, the new areas certainly outshine the older areas as you'd expect but overall a great way to spend 1/2 a day.

New and improved. I went there as a kid and it was great, but they have made many improvements and upgrades.

I ve been many times and always had a good time. I can t imagine how this rating would apply to the animals. Animals do what they do. So, I guess the rating reflects how the humans run the zoo. And the reflection is good. I go in, see the animals, and leave. The humans running the place don t get in the way.

Very good zoo. The staff are amazing! I even got the opportunity to feed one of the tortoises and it was really an experience of a lifetime. Highly recommend the bird show it is so fun and entertaining!

Really nice experience. Plan a half a day for your visit. The exhibits follow a loop so it's easy to walk around. Very well taken care of animals and grounds. Giraffe feeding is a must and the little ones will love the train and carousel. Highly recommend!

This is a small zoo but it is first rate! Possibly one of the best zoo's I have been too. A must visit in Salt Lake city

Love the zoo, always great no matter how many times I have been! This visit the new polar bears were playing with each other right in front of the windows, wrestling, jumping in the water... it was so cool!!!

My first time and loved every moment of it Animals looked so amazing! The visual reminders of the plastic in our ocean was a great reminder of how important it is to recycle. I had a blast and definitely will be back!!!

So much fun!!! Along with seeing all the cool animals, you learn about them as well

My family loves the zoo. There are better ones for sure but for a not large city and how cheap admission and season passes are we love it. Tua, the baby orangutan, is out favorite.

Small only few animals don't really understand the hype. Pretty sad I would guess 30 large animals. Not worth the 20 at all. Sad was looking forward to really enjoying it. Felt more like home town zoo.

I remember going here whim I was a kid . The new upgrades they have made are very nice.

I have been attending this zoo since I was a baby. I now enjoy taking my children! The zoo has changed a ton over the years and has improved greatly! We typically spend 2-3 hours there at a time and get annual passes.

A lot of fun! But the admission is too steep! I could only afford to go cause it was my son's school field trip. The polar bears were our favorite. And the new red pandas were lots of fun! It was very clean. Great restrooms. However the elephant area smelled very strong of urine. Be ready to get a workout in while walking around. It's up on the mountain and the hills are steep.

All the workers took safety seriously. It wasn't difficult to stay distanced.

Good zoo but on the small side. Can easily see everything in about 2-3 hours

The lights were absolutely Beautiful around Christmas time. But when we went with all the animals around it was honestly kind of sad. The enclosures are incredibly small and the animals look way too skinny for what they need to look like. Other than that there's not really a lot to do besides just walk around which I mean is technically what is it was about but maybe they should be more interactive have different things going on different weeks. But I think they should probably work on the enclosures

Took my 3 grandchildren there while I was visiting them in South Jordan. We enjoyed the entire day, especially the shoes. We were disappointed that bird show was canceled due to wind but staff brought a bunch of birds out for all to see. I'm told the bird show is exceptional. I liked that we could bring our own food in. That made the day more affordable. I only wish you had addl rooms to change baby diapers. Feeding the giraffes was a very cool experience!!

1. Too expensive for entry fee, food is really high-good chicken tenders tho. $7.95 too high for two. Drinks were $4 for a cup with no lid and no straw. Fries are extra.
2. The animal enclosures were way too small, animals seemed lethargic.
3. Nice structures, but the layout of the zoo is a little awkward.
4. Parking was crazy. Free but crowded.
5. I probably wouldnt go again.
6. The train ride was a joke. Sorry, but it was.
7. Loved the Giraffes and their baby, and the Elephants, even tho their enclosure was insanely small.

Wonderful place. Really enjoyable. Not to pricey. Really liked the atmosphere. Great family outing.

I love this place! The children can run and explore. Its always clean and well kept.

Lots of diverse wildlife most of the animals were up and out me and the wife went here on our anniversary weekend it was a great afternoon date

Cool zoo but really small. The habitats for the animals were small. Almost depressing! The elephants for example were seperated. The big mom was swaying her head back and forth. This is due to no stimulus in her habitat! It only took two hours to walk through even though we took our time looking at all the animals! Going one time was fun but i will not go again. Fun for kids because it ofcourse is educational but not for couples.

I always enjoy myself here, the staff are great and the zoo itself has improved immensely since I was a kid. Also come early in the morning and you can make it through to see all the animals by lunch time and then leave before the massive crowds. Unless you like crowds then you may want to just head straight to the psychiatrist, cause you have issues.

Special anniversary gift from my husband was to go and feed the Rino's. Totally worth it for the experience and bennifits the White Rino's.

There us so much to do and see! Its fun for all ages. The food at the "Beast"ro never disappoints.

So fun to visit the zoo in the winter. The cold weather animals were very entertaining to watch. The grandkids really enjoyed it.

We love this place so much we had to buy a season family pass. My daughter loves the two polar bears. My son loves the otters. Love all of the updates and new animals they get. Parking can be a bit difficult but the overflow across the street helps.

My children loved it very much, a lot to see and do great shows, mychildren loved the polar bears the most, it was a lot of fun!!!

We really enjoy going to the zoo. They have all sorts of animals, a kid's play place with splash pad in the summer, a merry-go-round ride, and train ride. The train ride and Merry-Go-Round cost more then just your entry fee. You can also feed th giraffe's for another fee. The bird show is awesome and it does not cost more.

Prices should be lower during winter, as the experience is much lower than good weather days, animals and employees!

Immaculately kept zoo! The animals looked well cared for and we were able to see them in almost every exhibit. Even with virus precautions it was a wonderful experience. I would love to see them add an insect area in the future.

The zoo is great the only thing is that the water there is so gross like really bad and every thing is over priced so you will want to bring your own water and lots of it

Kids loved the zoo, way funner than the zoo in North Dakota they said. "Don't cha know".

We love the zoo! The upgrades they have made are so nice. It's great to get the kids out in the fresh air. Their season pass oos very too. I do wish they would upgrade the buffalo area though. Otherwise the hogle zoo is a fantastic day out!

I have many fond memories here and look forward to making new memories in the future. Great asset to salt lake city.

Customer service was great very nice friendly and fast I just dont love the food.

I love the zoo. It may not be as big as the zoo in San Diego or New York, but it still has a lot of different animals to see.

I love that most of the animals are easy to see. The keepers are also great. Go in the morning and you might get to hear the Lions roaring at each other. Food and treats are tourist priced but good quality.
