Grand kids loved it. Zoo was very clean and animals kook healthy. Will go back soon
Animals are usually sleeping when I go. So just don't go when I go.
My 2 year old is obsessed with the carrousel. Can t stop talking about it! And she loves seeing the lions... calls them all Simba clean facility. Definitely coming back soon.
Great experience, besides having to avoid anti-maskers in their giant groups, and children touching everything.
Pricey but worth it! My kids loved the animals and rides.
Have had a blast at Hogle Zoo. The enclosures that have been built to accommodate the needs of the housed animals are great. The ability to see animals playing and interacting with each other has been delight. We went to Zoolights this year and it was beautiful. An ice sculpture, gorgeous lanterns and lots of fun activities.
Very nice for a small zoo. Spent half a day and kids loved it.
A fun place for kids. Children under 2 get in for free.
Well managed, even though it is sad to see those animals
The zoo was awesome! The only downside was that we paid to feed the giraffes. It was windy that day and so they cancelled. We totally understand this, but they never notified us. We waited for 20 minutes and no one ever came. We had to ask a few employees what was going on and then eventually figured out that it was cancelled because of the wind. There should have been a sign, email, employee or something notifying us that it was cancelled.
Had half if not 25% of the place open. I paid 100.00 for family and was not worth it will tell family and friends never to go after spending that kind of money.
Great zoo love the the two polar bears. They needed to have 2 so they can play with each other like the brown bears. Love the Pride rock for the lions, need to get hippos back. Love the upgrades they are doing need to upgrade and fix the reptile exhibits. Great place to just walk and enjoy animals
If you are planning on coming to the zoo and you are high risk don't go. Hardly anyone is wearing masks, staff members are wearing masks incorrectly below nose, and the six feet rule not followed.
Awesome place to brings kids to get out of the house! Train (safari rides), feeding giraffes, merry-go-round round, various demonstrations etc! It's got a lot of space and plenty to look at and do. It's very well maintained and pretty easy to get to.
The zoo has the right combination of indoor and outdoor exhibits to make it an enjoyable experience in any weather. The food court is well priced and you can always expect the staff to be courteous and helpful.
Such great new exhibits, and the play ground added is awesome for the littles. There is a lot of shade as well which made our trip even better!
This was really cool. My daughter loved the snow leopard and he was really active when we were there.
Super clean enviroment, free wagons/carts to haul all the kids. Kids enjoyed it.
We went here on a Sunday and had a good stroll around the park. Very clean but I thought the animals weren t a lot and there weren t shows at the time. The zoo is good for kids though.
This place was a joke! I am 8 months pregnant with a heart condition. When I showed up I tried to rent an electric wheelchair. They were sold out. I asked the kid to please take my number and call me when was returned. He said he would. After 3 hours we were on our way out and stopped at the same stand to purchase some toys for my 3 kids. While waiting for them to pick the toys I watched 2 electric wheelchairs be rented out. I walked up to the stand to talk to the same young kid about this. Had I know they were there we would have rented one and stayed at the zoo longer. He argued with me and lied. Saying he hasn't rented any out. Even though I watched him rent two out. We rode the train and on the way out I stopped at the service desk to file a complaint. They told me someone would be in touch with me. Mind you this we 6/30. No one called. I reached out to Hogel Zoo on FB and was told someone would call me. No one called. I called their complaints manager Mr Miller and left a voicemail. Again no one has returned my call. For my family of 5 to go to the zoo ride the attractions and get food and drinks we spent well over $200.00. This is a joke. I'm writing this review now because no one at the zoo cared to take my complaint and try to rectify the situation.
Really enjoyable Zoo. Nice selection of Animals to see, and small enough for younger kids room be able to traverse the entire park.
Lov. Place. Clean nice staff. Cute. Zoo. Pets .. Nice shows. Cooling. Kids areas. Safety. Is importance. Here. Helpful. Staff .ty gd visit ist tome i live here 6 yrs now slc ror vaule great lunch 16.00 for 2. 4.00 drink 1.00 refills
I was at Hogle Zoo to pick up my art which was part of the 25th World of the Wild Art Exhibition. Everything about the staff at the zoo impresses me. Easy to work with and more than accommodating for people with busy schedules. The zoo itself is also a day well spent.
Loved listening to the Lions whilst painting the Ape.
Very nice. Lots of animals. Easy to see all of them
They seem to be really putting in an effort to improve. Each new area is great! Can't wait for the new apes area.
Amazing the way they have redesigned the zoo. I hadn't been in a few years. Really cool now.
Great place! Only problem is the parking is a real pain!
The Meerkats are worth the trip! They have 2, yes 2, male lions. The staff are very nice. Very good.
We have visited the zoo a lot these last month. Animals are always out and about.
Great place for the kids. They love the polar bears
The many events the zoo holds through out the year are very fun. Our family is always excited for boo at the zoo and for zoo lights.
This zoo is designed for maximum profit while you are there, it's not really designed for the families that come to visit. We couldn't bring ourselves to buy more than just a tiny bit of food because, being the frugal people we are, we're not paying $8 for a snack the size of a single serving. But beware if you bring your own food, most seating is off-limits for outside food. Poor quality, overpriced toys and books (not a lot of them either) in the gift shop. We always look forward to buying a quality toy and a book whenever we go to a museum, aquarium, etc...But it was shocking to see such poor quality toys, most places like this have some really special and magical heirloom souvineer toys, but not here. Our World Passport toy is totally broken now and sized incorrectly, the man can't sit in the jeep and the toolbox doesn't fit in the carrying place. The few books they had all had extra stickers on them covering up the suggested price and reintroducing their own highly inflated price. We've been to the zoo twice and I wasn't impressed--but especially not the second. The first time we had a little baby and we were in extreme heat, so we bought their World Passport brand fan--that didn't last very long--it worked well enough there but was ruined soon afterwards. The zoo was fun enough the first time around because it was novel, but for some reason a lot of the signs only talked about conservation efforts for the animals instead of giving us fun facts to discuss. It looks like that is changing though. So I give it two stars for that. Another concern of mine was there was only one nursing room and that was at the entrance, it would have been nice to have another air conditioned room in a couple more locations as there are bees everywhere in the summer!!! The second time we went with a toddler. The staff wasn't very sociable this year. I got a lot of grunts and shoulder raises and ignores this time around when I tried talking to their employees. Someone threw something dangerous into the (critically endangered) gorilla exhibit; the young employee didn't seem to care. Other than the merry-go-round and the train it's a very boring zoo for toddlers. It's all about being herded from one exhibit to the other, with (almost) nothing interactive for toddlers to help them learn. The playground was made for older children and super crowded, it made my toddler nervous. The Savannah exhibit looked very different than the artist's rendition and I was disappointed--it didn't look the Savannah and quite broken up with branches and rocks. The conductor sounded scripted, the train went by too fast to enjoy the animals, and people screamed in the tunnel, which was encouraged by the conductor. Adults can't ride with their child on the carousel on most of the animals, even if they pay extra. The line for it is long, and yet the operator let lots of seat go empty (they're weren't broken, it was just being inconsiderate/lazy) . There's no strollers allowed in the animal building, but they're not noisy or any messier than shoes. So children ran wild and screamed and tapped on glass on exhibits that said "Shhh--animal needs peace and quiet." I'm sure this is way worse than anything a stroller could do, and they're wheelchairs for some children. I was disturbed by the polar bear, pacing nervously and looking unhealthy. There are enough aquariums and fun exhibits in the state that I don't think my family needs to continue supporting this zoo.
We went for zoo lights and thought it was a fun place to get out and enjoy Christmas lights. It was very animal themed but we thought it was good value for the price we paid.
They treat the animals with respect and love. Very open and a wonderful place for anyone of all ages.
Getting better each year! The heat had most of the zoo sleeping, but it was still fun till the rain came; next time it will be better.
Great experience. You get a lot, especially for the price. It may not be as big as some other big time zoos, but I still highly recommend. Try to go to the shows, they make it even more interesting. When we went, there was a bird show and elephant show.
My 3 year old could spend hours here it s so much fun!!
Mostly good. They seem to always have a few things closed. This time it was the playground. Big bummer for the Young kids.
So much fun!
We were able to see the baby gorilla. It s nice to be able to go I just wish covid would leave. Mask are encouraged and they want you to wear a mask while walking all around in the heat to protect the animals it wasn t the easiest experience, however the kids loved it.
We just made our best judgement as to when we should have them on.
Oh and PS bring back the bird show!!!
Always a fun place to visit. New enclosures have really helped out the zoo. Great just to be outside, bonus to see all the animals. Go on a weekday to avoid the crowds.
The zoo needs to clean up after the predators. Kids don't need too see prey animal parts strewn everywhere after feeding time. I understand they are predatory animals and it is part of nature, but as they are in a visited cage, I don't want to see their left overs, and I don't think most kids do, either. Other zoos I have been to seem much more considerate of this.
Fascinating array of animals that can be seer from all angles of reference. Need at least 3 hrs to tour the whole Zoo.
Love this place! Always busy on the weekends but is always maintained and kept clean.
It s a bit frustrating that they require masks throughout the entire zoo even though you are out doors most of the time. They also try to pass it off as if the mandate were still in effect and it s not. Don t get after people to put on their mask if nobody is within 30 feet of them!
The zoo lacks some of the animals many people like to see, such as the lion, and some of the animals that are there are not visible due to the structure of the zoo.
The animals look sad and thier cages are too small..the polar bear looked like he was going insane .the bear kept pacing in a manic way.i do not feel good about spending money there.
It was a nice day to visit the zoo and with the weather at 54 degrees after spending 4 months in snowy weather it was a beautiful day. The zoo is small and easy to find every animal within the compound. My favorite animals are the giraffes and elephants but no giraffes were out to see and only a baby elephant was on display. Another favorite of mine are the low land gorillas; their enclosure is small but they seem to like it but, I'm not sure. Lots of people in their small building so, I think they were not pleased.
The zoo is small and can be walked in 1hr-30mins. If you have small children with you expect to spend the day but on a hot day. The zoo is pretty has lots of cafes and a very nice gift shop. Free parking is a plus, admission is a little steep for the size of the zoo but it's worth it, this is the closes we'll ever get to these types of animals in one small space.
We had a great time, but it gets very busy, especially during spring break when we were there. The exhibits are so much better now than when I was young.
We can during a ZAP free day. This is the perfect time to bring your youngest kids that are ready to leave after 1 hour. They do a wonderful job at the zoo and it s a great opportunity to teach children about different animals and caring for other creatures. Parking gets busy on the ZAP days to calculate extra time to walk.
What an amazing interaction. This place is outstanding. Well cared for happy animals and clean enclosures wish we lived closer this would be a weekly thing for us. Staff was knowledgeable and friendly. Answered all of our questions and helped point out some animals we didn't see at first
We took the whole family to Zoo Lights and it was beautiful. The kids had a great time! The lights were amazing. A few of the animals were awake but not many. The lions were one of their favorites to see at night.
A wonderful zoo "hidden" in the mountains surrounding SLC. It has plenty to offer but is small enough that with a little planning you can knock out the whole thing in roughly three hours. Plenty of free shows involving birds, seals, and elephants that are very entertaining.
It's is a cute zoo. Great place to take kids. The train ride they have is really nice kids seem to love it. The bistro they have has pretty good food too. It isn't very big and even has a play area which makes it a great place to take kids.
Perfect amount of zoo for a casual afternoon, not too crowded, and a surprising variety for its size.
It really is a nice zoo for the price. You get to see a lot and it's well laid out.
great way to get your steps in, saw a buzzard eating a pigs head once, pretty neat
More of the animals were out today. A clear path with 6ft markings, most wearing masks.
It was an okay experience many exhibits closed or animals not there. We stopped by the zoo before we caught our plane and it was just okay. We did the train ride but again animals not there and it was really short. Not much going on however but it was a pretty decent experience.
This is a pretty good zoo. My kids love coming to see the polar bears and seals. They also love the reptiles. The food is expensive and subpar, so bring your own. They have a train ride that is extra, but it is unbearably loud and squeaky. I love the elephant show they do.
The animals were beautiful and well cared for. I had a great experience and really enjoyed walking around the zoo. It was nice having buildings, with animals inside, to walk into when my toes started getting cold!
Its not very clear how to get where you need to and it was very over crowded with people for April. Animals looked sad or board in some encloseres. Not all animals have very much information to read or look at.
Had a great time. So happy for the improvements on the animal enclosures. They are really nice and the animals are loved. The bird show is a must and so funny.
Great staff and very entertaining animals. One of the cleanest zoos I have been to.
Hogle Zoo is the best! Never feels crowded. Lots to see and do. Spent almost 5hrs there.
Nice place to take your whole family, children to grandparents.
Fun fun fun. They have guides now at the different animal sights that can answer almost any questions so you become more informed about the animals
As far as zoos go this was the best one I've been too. Mainly all the animals you only want to see. It's not so big that it takes all day to walk. Very well laid out.
My first visit to this zoo. The Christmas lights were very nice and the animals that were out where very visible, even in the dark.
Always a great experience. The zoo is not as lively as in warm weather but some exhibits are actually better in the cold
