Love being able to see all the different animals. Also if you have a child that has autism or a different type of disablility, they have it so the caregiver gets in for free.
The only thing I dislike is how expensive things are there.
The polar bear exhibit is fantastic. Try to be there for a feeding.
Hogle was a very affordable zoo. I think it was around $18 for an adult.
Coming from the New Orleans area, or the Detroit area, it's much more affordable.
It was large, with many exhibits and activities. Posted information about animals was helpful.
My 5 year-old really liked it. She says her favorite parts were "going to the playground" and "the water play area."
I thought the reptile area was a bit eclectic. There were bats, cats, birds, and insects as well as reptiles. I would have liked to see it better focused on reptiles.
is better to go prepared, sunscreen, water, hats, some snacks for children, because inside it is expensive, but Clean, fun great moments with the family.
I liked the new exhibits.get To to see the animals moving around instead of just in a cage.
This place is always fun to take the kids to. I will say that it is a bit small in comparison to several other zoos in other cities. Also, this zoo has a terrible section that you walk up a steep hill to see. Once up the steep hill you realize it wasn't really worth your time and energy to get to. Stick to the bottom 80% of the zoo. You're not missing much I promise.
Great zoo! The animals all seem very healthy and happy, the zoo is very clean and well kept. The prices have gone up but its still worth the price!!!!
A staple of salt lake city life. They always try to keep it new and exciting with lots of fun events for kids and adults alike. Utah's Zoo is great anytime of year.
It's always a fun place to spend time with family and friends! And you can tell the staff really enjoy taking care of the animals.
Spent a rainy day here with the Kindergarten. Polar bear was amazing!
We were very disappointing with how little there was, No Hippos which was upsetting for my daughter. No Zebras, No penguins, No more camels. However the New Rocky Shores is pretty cool!
The Hogle zoo is basically a bigger Tracey Aviary with more non birds. I've been here twice, once for an elephant show and another for just seeing the rest of the zoo. I have to say this is the best zoo that you can go to in Utah. It's much better in the animals seen much happier than over at lagoon. And I particularly liked the elephant show because the elephant seem to have some joy and humor in them.
I love this zoo. I recommend showing up as early as u can to beat the crowd.
We went over spring break and it was pretty crowded but still a good experience. The ticketing could be better. They had some issues with their printers and the lines are very long. We purchased a year Family pass and it took them 20 minutes to get me a card and then they spelled my name wrong and it took another 5 minutes to print out another one but they still had the spelling wrong. A little frustrating.
Great zoo lights was awesome thank you hogle zoo for an amazing experience and a good workout.
The Christmas lights were awesome to take the kids to. Adults would love it too since many of the light sculptures were so unique. Really cool to see some animals while we walked around admiring the lights.
I'm visiting from Oregon and Hogle Zoo blew my expectations away. Little secret... it's better than our Portland Zoo. (Shh)
Enjoyed rhe visit. Enclojsures need to be bigger, more natural.
Love the zoo but prices for the food and drinks were outrageous!! Holy crow! 4 bucks for a 21 oz fountain soda!? Highway robbery! I understand the zoo needs money to operate, but they do charge admission prices and have a gift and souvenir shop..also, charging a bit more than normal would be tolerable..but 3 times more than a regular price is outrageous! Next time, my family and I will be going to eat lunch outside the zoo!
This is the most depressing zoo I've ever been to. The animals look sad and the enclosures are so small and out of date. One of the gorillas continually threw up in his hand and ate it.
Fun zoo with great habitats for animals and education for kids. Best Bird Show ever seen! Enjoy the training and care of animals as you watch at set hours each day.
There is a lack of animals in the zoo and the animals they did have appeared to be in rough shape.
So much fun!
And the people who work there are wonderful, I had such a great time!
The Good, They have redone a lot of there exhibits and it's very nice and lots of eating areas and shade. The bad parking is a nightmare when they are busy and a lot of the exhibits are not open and they are charging full price.
Great zoo, lots of activities and good mix of classic and new exhibits. Splash pad in the summer for kids so plan ahead for that
Poor customer service. Called to ask about tickets to an event, to be told we have to buy at the gate at 6:30. So we drive an hour to buy tickets to be told they were sold out 5. So much misinformation. My entire family buys season passes every year, and the service has only gotten worse. Considering not attending this zoo any more.
Zoo is really fun when setup for special events like Halloween and Christmas !!
Warning: The zoo has changed the terms and conditions on their passes and are no longer honoring their booster pass agreement. Even if you still have a pass bought before they changed it. Do not buy!
Great fun for all ages!! Try and catch some of the free shows they do daily!!
Thanks to rk mechancial, our family had a fantastic time. Tired but had a great family time!!
Always fun and interesting! Bring the children and enjoy the day! Take in every exhibit as though you are young again!
I love this zoo. Lots to do. The exhibits are well designed and spacious with plenty of variety of animals. We stayed for the presentation about Elephants and it was really fascinating to watch and learn more about those amazing creatures. The admission was a bit steep - $19, but it was a great experience as an adult as well as for my 2 year old son. The best part was drinking water from the lion s mouth. Bonus - they have a large play area.
Very clean and modern feel, a lot of new upgrades and features make for a fun family day!
All the exhibits are so much better than they used to be. More viewing areas for the visitors and more territory for the animals.
It was nice but there were alot of exhibits closed, but other than that it was good.
Great day for the zoo. They are doing a great job working to protect for covid-19.
They have done a lot of work and continue to add on. Cool exhibits and exciting animals.
I love the zoo and all their conservation efforts. I attended the Magizoology for Muggles class for adults and it was so much fun.
How doesn't love going to the Zoo. Plus this one looks like the animals are cared for. Not like the zoo at Lagoon. The Hogle Zoo actually cares for those creatures.
I love the zoo. So happy for new Polar Bears. The zoo lights was fun, the Lions were playing and roaring! I had never experienced that!
Have been going here all my life. As a child, with my daughter and now to the zoo brew with my daughter. I love the zoo with no children! Good time and for a good animal cause.
Super fun. Great to see that the animals are being treated well and their enclosures are much larger.
Only downside is it seems there are far fewer animals than there once were.
We love the zoo and have had a membership for years!
We went on a very hot day, the animals were lounging in the shade but al out and appeared happy! The bird show was good but the elephant feeding was by far the best part! A smaller zoo compared to many others but a great experience nonetheless. We will come back for sure!
A totally awesome way to show appreciation for employees. Enough shade or covered enclosures to keep the heat from causing issues. Splash park was a blast for the kids not to mention the carousel and face painting. The bird and elephant shows were very entertaining and the train ride employees put on a fun little ride show as well. Not to mention the awesome animals and the educational tidbits with each enclosure .so much fun..so worth your time!!
Was awesome all the animals were active. It was great
A good portion of the exhibits were closed/empty/or down for cleaning. Bugzilla attractions were not as advertised. I have been 3 other times and had a wonderful time with my children, but I'm not sure about going back after this last experience.
Enjoyed, zoo keeper called Gray wolves down for my daughter to see. She is in love with wolves. Small but nice. We saw polar bears as well. Gift shop is nice. Alot of gifts that are geared off donations to make a difference for conservation.
Great place to see the "big cats." We especially love the leopards and the new baby Pallas Cats.
We visit the zoo every year. it is a place that is constantly changing to accommodate new and current animals on display.
Sadly, there has been a few recent deaths in the past few years of some zoo favorites, but the new additions have been great. The display for the sea lion, polar bear, elephants and lions are awesome!
Great day. Not to crowded. Everyone seemed to be wearing masks. Lots of sanitation stations. Saw people cleaning in lots of different areas. Felt safe to be there.
Parking can get pretty crazy and have to walk a block or two. Nothing too crazy.
Kind of a bummer, hard to see so many of the animals. Lots were not visible.
It's always fun to see what the animals are doing on different days. Today the Asian Highland animals were active. Our family loves that the animal care staff will always stop to talk you and tell you about each animal, what they love to do, and how they act.
Great for families, although I recommend avoiding summertime because it's busy and hot.
The zoo is great but people are not abiding by the rules and wearing masks.
The Hogle Zoo has a huge variety of animals to see. Children, teenagers and adults all have fun looking at the different animals. The pricing is fair considering all of the attractions. Just a tip for potential visitors: the train is not worth the extra money unless your child is obsessed with trains. It's pretty short and you don't get to see the park. The only animals you see are the African ones. It may be worth the money for some people, but I'd rather use that money for the carousel.
skip the zoo in winter.. most animals are inside and the place is deserted..
The Grandkids had an awesome time, it was a beautiful overcast day with a light ran hear and there. Very enjoyable, the staff was very friendly and helpful when three children were separated from their group. They made sure the children were calm and made sure they got with their family.
Went to an adult themed visit at the Zoo but there were too many drunks. No kids though.
horrible. these poor animals are obviously depressed and not well taken care of. most of them can t even move. the enclosures are WAY too small and not fit for wild animals. this experience was heartbreaking. send the animals home
New baby animals, habitat style enclosures and close to home in a beautiful setting.
