Due to COVID-19 we had to schedule online and it was easy. There was a lot of sanitizer around and good signage warning about high touch areas. They have a baby Colobus monkey born on May 22nd and is really cute and playful (see picture) Reptile house is closed right now but still plenty to see!

It was ok. We went at 9:30 am and was very disappointed to see all the play areas were closed, and that's cleaning/feeding time I guess. Most animals were still asleep. The elephants and lions were cool though! Both up and doing neat things! Covid has most of the food places closed, and you have to wear a mask even if you're outside. And because there was no food there we had to leave earlier than I would have liked.
I wish I could give this place ten stars. I was extremely impressed! I ve worked with animals forever. I know and understand what a lot of exotic animal needs are. They blew my expectations out of the water. All the animals are active and healthy! There are plenty of signs around that clearly state to please be quiet and respectful most people were with the exception of small children! Wonderful! Staff was friendly! Would definitely recommend! It s a small zoo perfect place for small children and tired parents! Lots to see! Wonderful wonderful wonderful! Will definitely come back if in Utah again!
Gotta support your local zoo. This year they had animal furs/skins. So you could feel what the animals fur was like. My group was divided, but I liked it.
I absolutely loved this zoo, been before when I was a kid took my daughter for the first time and she loves it just as much if not more, we also had a serious family matter to take care while we were there, what security and the staff did for my family was wonderful I could not and cannot thank them enough for what they did for my family that day, had nothing to do with them what so ever other then there parking lot I guess and for them to be as concerned as they were for my family was just amazing, you don't get people like that a lot anymore and it meant a lot that they showed they cared and for them to do what they did afterwards was completely unnecessary but really appreciative once again if any of them read this Thank You we will be back again soon
The Zoo is really small. I wish it had more features too it. It's fun when the animals are active. They have bird shows, seal shows, and fun photo options around the park. The train is short. It's a great place for children to be. They have a play place that is really great children to climb, run, and scream outside. Some people bring food into the park to eat. You may also purchase food in the park. No refills on soda drinks.
This year is our third year with a membership and second year able to bring guests in with us. The kids love it and it may seem like it could get old, it's easy to see something new every time we visit.
Absolutely love going. However, a lot of times there shops are closed. A nice variety of animals...of course there are larger and better zoos out of state. Fun place to spend the day though.
Went to Hogle Zoo lights for a date with my wife. It was a lot of fun and there were lots of photo opportunities. It closes down zoo lights for the year this weekend.
Kind of hit and miss seeing some of the animals. Seems that there were quite a few not available for viewing. That's okay though. It is understandable. Overall it is a nice zoo.
We absolutely love the Hogle Zoo! We had the opportunity to experience the zoo in the winter a couple of weeks ago and it was actually pretty awesome. A lot of the animals were out. And it was nice because there wasn't too much of a crowd. We usually try to make at least one trip every year to see the animals. It has been fun to watch them throughout the years.
See the bird show! It was the best part of my visit. Dispite quite a bit of space, this zoo is pretty small. Great for small kids but make sure to bring a stroller or wagon. Its pretty hilly here.
So many 'exotic' animals from so far away have died in the last few years. It's sad when I read about another death of an animal we love to visit passing away. The price for admition is expensive so come EARLY, BRING FOOD AND BEVERAGES. The snacks at the zoo are procey. The popcorn is stale. Fresh goes on top, old ... Well, old stays on the bottom pile. 3 years ago i as well as several other people were selected from a group of current members to participate in a panel discussing the pros and cons of the zoo what we thought could and would be an improvement and what we thought were issues. One of the things that was repeatedly discussed was the price of admition and how it was so high and unaffordable for poor families making it unaffordable the majority of minorities groups, making it impossible for a larger family to be able to visit the zoo. That was not a concern the director of the Zoo board whatever the guy was a cincern. He stated that the smaller the crowds and the less long the lines were, the more 'valuable' the ticket would be for the people visiting the Zoo. We have renewed our membership on and off even though we know it is expensive for us because honestly there isn't another zoo where you can visit in Utah the only option and kind of a necessary visit since we have a veterinary oriented family. At the meeting the value of a better crowd was discussed. In my opinion what that meant was poor people are not a good crowd and they don't want so many poor folks in the zoo because that costs them money to manage those crowds. The zoo is a beautiful place to stroll safely, that is nice and an added benefit of the smaller crowds. The food sold on kiosks is terrible, low in quality and high in price. It's like Zoo Miami prices for only a few animals with very few diversiry added animals once in a few 5 years or so. The habitats for some of the animals look okay, some look nice, some look terrible and small. My family lives the Zoo. We wish the price was more affordable and the quality of the food for sale better as well as a new animal or two more often than what it currently is. As much as I agree that the smaller crowds make it for a better experience the price of admission has become more expensive than I think it has to be for them to make money and while browsing at public reports and information on the news, the $ flows very well for upper management at the zoo. My opinion, my rant.
Compare this from a worker at a CA Zoo: I work at a zoo that is instrumental in the California Condor recovery program (among dozens of other conservation projects). We went from 42 surviving individuals left to over 400, over 200 of whom are in the wild. We re part of the amur leopard species survival plan with two young animals who are eagerly attempting to make babies. We host one of North America s only bachelor troops of western lowland gorillas, preserving the social structure of wild gorillas. All of our bald eagles are rescues who would not survive in the wild. All our keepers participate in field research and conservation work in addition to a full time team of conservationists. We host the most genetically valuable male Masai giraffe in North America, who has sired 5 offspring with 1 on the way, increasing the genetic diversity of his entire species. Impressive isn't it?
Hogle zoo is awesome!! Even during the pandemic it is so fun. They do a great job reminding people to be socially distant and the employees are jumping to help and answer questions. And they were so appreciative that we supported the zoo and came. Can't wait to go again!!
Friendly exhibits and a good selection of animals. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Not too big which is nice for my feet. Good food options as well. And very friendly for children.
We love it here! The pride of lions were so active and literally up close that my kids were in aww. We had such a great time! The elephant was adorable! My kids and I wanted to see it all. So, we rented a wagon and stroller (provided by the zoo) which made the walk to each section so much easier for my husband and I.
I loved hogle zoo as a kid. After 15 years of missing the zoo, I returned and was very underwhelmed. Most the animals were in the back sleeping and the place didn't seem very alive. I can see how most children would still enjoy it. It's also hard to take pictures of the animals because of all the fencing and glass reflections. I've been to other zoos that at least have camera spot areas that don't have fence or glass in the way.
If your in Utah and have a family you must see Hogle Zoo. The bird show was so cute. They were free flying birds. This zoo offers a large array of animals.
This zoo is a really fun place to go to, I ve been going here my whole life, when I was a kid this was the zoo we would always go to and I have very good memories here with my parents and cousins and friends. They have such beautiful animals to go see and the whole place is beautiful too.
Took the grandkids to see the Christmas lights. Not quite worth the price per person, but it was a good time. We didn't see many real animals but the kids loved the lights. Purchase tickets ahead of time as it was not fun waiting for tickets and then waiting to gain entrance. Too us at least 30 minutes just to get in the park!
This was a great zoo, small as it was. There were terrific habitats that made seeing the animals incredibly easy. It was spacious and clean. The train was a unique feature but we opted to not use it since we prefer to stop and enjoy the animals rather than be rushed past them on a ride. Bring some cash for things like the marry-go-round and such. Kids loved it.
Hoping they have more animals and attraction.. Bring your own snacks and drinks with you especially if you go there with the kids. It's very pricey for the beverages especially.
Unfortunately it was hot and the animals had all just eaten when my party arrived, so most of them were sleeping! The animals looked well cared for, the park was CLEAN! Even though there were like 5 schools visiting that day.
The ZOO is fantastic!! Lions and tigers and bears OH MY!! Lots of photo ops, food choices, and the animals were hot and tired!! I recommend going in the early morning hours! The polar bears were active and wonderful!! The bald eagles are absolutely amazing!! At the end of the day when the Zoo was closing the lion was roaring and it was mind blowing and magnificent! It is incredible how loud it is in real life don't miss the zoo!! Take lots of water, gatorade and umbrellas!! Go in the earlier part of the day!!
It was a long time since I went to the hogle zoo last and it feels like a brand new zoo now. Amazing. My favorites were the bears and the Asian highland exhibits.
Had a lot of fun..things are over priced the beastro was confusing where to order and how to order (overpriced) pizza was fun and good but the kids enjoyed it... FIRST TIME AND WON'T BE THE LAST..p.s I wish the gate would be more helpful and let you know what time it closing and be more helpful with some events and times if any are going to be done that day aka bird show and seals
Had a lot of fun at Hogle zoo for the boo lights. With COVID restrictions the accessable exhibits can be walked through easily in the evening. My 4-year-old granddaughter and I were able to walk through everything once before the sun went down to see the animals and then have dinner while it got dark and walked through again to see the lights.
I was there with a company party so the group there was limited. The only bottleneck was getting food. There was a 30+ minute line at all the food venues all night. The benefit of the long wait though is there is very limited seating to eat so most found a place to eat once got their food.
The carousel closed for what I guess was a dinner break. It wasn't indicated that it was reopening so that caused some unnecessary disappointment.
After dark most of the animals were sleeping so the lights are the main thing to see. There are lots of lights and that makes it fun. It is very spooky to hear a lion roar in the dark and see him moving through the dark enclosure. Also the monkeys sleeping on the top of posts were unbelievable.
The zoo was a great place for a family adventure. Most of the animals were out and about. Zoo was clean and the exhibits were upgraded from the last time I went. Had 4 kiddos under 6 and they were wiped out when we left. Fun day trip!
Awesome Zoo! The animals are beautiful and look as if they are cared for very very well. Our favorite was the polar bear when he went for a swim and came up to the glass to say hi! This is a great place to bring kids, really awesome day trip!
I love this zoo. I was happy to see that they have pillar bears now. They put on an awesome and educational show with their sea lions that my 2 year old loved to watch. Their elephants are active and playful. Always fun to watch. This last visit we spent time in their play ground and my son loved it! I plan on going at least once a year with my kids!
Super awesome place to visit! Employees seem like they are enjoying their time there and were very informative! Although, i don't think the train ride is worth it. It last 3 minutes and shows you parts of the africa enclosure and some donkeys. Bird show was amazing to watch!
It was nice to see the cats outside up and moving around they were feeding them while we were there that was very cool to. It is nice this time of year the only ones we didn't see where the polar bears and hopefully they are getting better but my grandkids loved it they got tired by the time they rode the carousel. And then it was time to go home yay
The Christmas lights at the zoo were great. Lots of variety of animals in lights. Lions were awake and active, fun time for the whole family. Crowds were ok, not as crowded as I thought it would for a Saturday night.
Loved seeing the animals, especially the lions up close. The reason ride was fun, we got to see things we normally don't! The line to get was long, but it took about 5 minutes for someone to get to us and it wasn't super crowded. Overall a good experience.
