Very high priced. Associate Tawni was rude on the carousal to more people than just us on a very slow day, demanding kids to exit and enforcing "policy", it makes sense but there is a way about it employees should go to ensure good customer service. The train doesn't view any animals besides the Safari ones and it would be cool to see the whole park or more variety of animals with the train (since it is an "attraction" that costs extra.) We only go once a year, if that.. not our fav.

The family had a great time. The staff was friendly and they were very helpful with any questions that were asked. My little girl loved the train and looking at all of the avocado's except the gorillas, she was a bit freaked out. All in all my family had a great experience, however it is a motor costly.
They have done a lot of work to update and improve the zoo over the last few years. The splash pad is popular but a bit overcrowded at times. The bird show is a must.
The zoo is awesome. I visit as often as possible. The staff do a really good job keeping the animals healthy and safe and provide a great experience for people. They're always willing to educate. So if you go be respectful, of the animals, staff and facility. Ask questions, read and learn.
Would like to see all the animals I remember seeing when I was a kid like the kangaroos the butterflies we really did not even get to see the polar bears or the Penguins
So awesome. The kids love the zoo. It's so easy to just let them run around amazed by everything there is to see. The food is not so great and very expensive.
We paid for expensive tickets with the assurance there were limited time slots for covid restrictions. We wore masks as they said was required. We showed up and about half of the people there were not wearing masks, nobody was social distancing. You couldn't even get a picture without becoming surrounded by multiple families. Will not be returning anytime soon.
Had a great time visiting the Hogle Zoo with my family the first week of July. We got there first thing in the morning to beat the heat and hopefully see as many of the animals as we could.
Stop and watch the animal demonstrations. The Elephant and sea lion shows were awesome.
$5 also buys you the chance to feed the Giraffes. You havent lived until you see up close and personal a Ginormous Giraffe tongue wrapping itself around a piece of lettuce. You may even be lucky enough to get some Giraffe slobber on your hands (Don't wipe it on your clothes it is kinda nasty).
My boys love seeing the tigers and other cats. They were being pretty lazy though. Seeing them and all the other animals when it's cooler outside makes for a better trip to the zoo.
The animals were awesome but I wish there was more hands on things to do. Or machines to make wax souvenir animals like San Antonio zoo... Something.. Idk I was not impressed
Zoos can be tough because the outing is all dependent on the animals activity level. Today was 5* worthy. Most of the animals were quite active and the baby gorilla was adorable.
Other times I've been though, the animals aren't quite as active. It's fun but not always absolutely amazing.
The Rhino encounter was the funnest thing I've ever done!! We got to feed the rhino and pet him, while the zookeeper answered all our questions and taught us more about them. It was incredible.
Very nice facility... Clean and well kept. Exhibits and grounds are well made. Variety of animals is good. Seeing giraffes in Utah was a treat and polar bears and sea lions playing in the water was very cool. The silverback was amazing. Overall had a great time!
The renovations on the zoo have been terrific. People criticize the African Safari but one thing that is there that has never happened before at this zoo is the giraffes, ostriches, and zebras all live together. The staff are passionate about their work and I have never had a bad experience with them. Taking my nephew (who is a talker) with me is fun because he can have all of his questions answered. The first priority for the staff are the animals. They do everything they can to make it safe for them and the guests, so when people bring in foreign objects (like balloons) they see a potential hazard for the animals. They don't allow wheeled shoes, skates etc because the zoo is located on the side of a mountain and the grounds slope. There are plenty of bathrooms in the zoo but not every one has a nursing room. There is only one like in most establishments like this in Utah. Animals live on their own time frame. Best time to see them active is in the early morning and evening. To keep the animals happy and healthy they are not always on display. The zoo has spent a lot of money to give them an area that is private for them to relax. As others have stated, it is best to enjoy the zoo if you have a pass for an hour or two at a time. I go there at least once a week and enjoy only seeing one area at a time now. It is a nice outing but I don't have to worry about bringing/buying food.
Constantly evolving, making improvements every year. If you haven't been in the last few years, then you have missed a lot of good improvements to exhibits, especially in the areas with the African animals and the North American bears.
It's clean, but small. The e exhibits are neat and well ordered. Rocky Shores, in particular, where the seals, sea lions, and polar bears Liv, is quite nice. There is a great little playground for when kids get bored, and plenty of places to eat and rest along the way.
Hogle zoo is a wonderful place to visit. It has a great variety of animals and really nice exhibits. The parking can be a problem on busy days but besides that it is an enjoyable experience.
Awesome zoo! I've been frequenting this zoo over 30 years now since I was a kid and this zoo always appears to treat their animals very well and always is doing something new for the visitors and the animals.
The family loves this place. We joined as member which gives us entry access for the family for a whole year. For a large family like mine it only takes 2 to 3 visits in a year and we have made money on the deal from normal admission prices. Having that membership also makes quick trips to the zoo easier because we can see some of the animals and don't have to see every animal every time. Makes for easy to plan quick day activity for the family. Right now during covid you do need to get time sloted tickets on line
Although I don't think it's the best time to go, we really enjoyed it. There weren't many people, so flowing and seeing everything was much easier. It was very funny because at the moment we felt in the middle of the Lion King movie with the Lion roaring loudly for a long time. There were some animals that I had never seen. It was very interesting, even with the cold it was. But I do not recommend the Christmas season to go.
As always Hogle zoo rocks. The "bugzilla" displays that they have this summer are great for kids. They actually move. I thought they were just statues from the pictures online (I probably didn't read the descriptions somewhere though). It's also very fast to get a ticket and get into the park and they constantly have shows and demonstrations going on. We saw three different demonstrations in just a couple hours during our visit.
I love this place! The staff is super friendly and you can tell that the animals are cared for. Plus you can pay to participate in animal encounters. We loved being able to feed the giraffes! The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because the crocodile enclosure is a little small
Good Zoo, I was a little disappointed by the small assortment of monkeys/apes and a lack of several other more exotic animals that would make the visit more interesting such as a polar bear (which died a while ago and I had hoped they would have replaced by now), panda bear, mountain lions. I believe there was only 1 tiger and 3 lions, seems like there used to be more.
Typical Zoo has Tigers, polar bears, giraffes, zebras, ostriches, rhinos, elephants, site has been recently updated with new landscaping and new exhibits for the animals very clean place wonderful way to spend a good day with your family has several different restaurants throughout the facility Each of which caters to its own unique experience
The last Wednesday of the month is free admission, and I took full advantage! The lions napped right in front of the glass, and we saw the Zebra babies running and playing! The elephants put on a show a few times a day with their trainers. They ll paint and climb and it s so fun to watch! I love this zoo and I m lucky it s so close by.
We went on a Tuesday in early October and it was a great time to go. There were a few school groups in the morning which made it a little crowded, but the afternoon felt like we were practically the only ones there and most the animals were more active. We were even able to get some close-ups with some of the animals! My daughters' favorite parts were the red panda and the one-month-old baby giraffe.
