The zoo and all the animals are great. The Beastro, on the other hand is disgustingly overpriced and the food is definitely not worth the cost. I had the artisan sandwich and my boyfriend had the chicken tenders, the sandwich was okay, just a normal sandwich, the chips were soggy and seemed old. I would ve been fine paying $4 for this, but it was $8. I tried the chicken tenders, too, and they were rubbery and hard. Definitely do not eat there, bring your own food. They even charge for the water and 4 dollars for a 21 ounce soda cup. The zoo is great, though

We love zoos so we always try to find one when we are visiting new towns. We decided to go to the zoo in Salt Lake City! I am so glad we did! This zoo is the best one I ve ever been to! The viewing area for the polar bears is so fantastic that we were able to watch them playing with each other in and out of the water! We got to see the giraffes up close, a gorilla right on the other side of the glass, and the whole park from a train ride! We went first thing in the morning so it wasn t too crowded or too hot. It was a fantastic experience! Thank you, Hogle Zoo, for all you do for those animals!

I'm happy that Salt Lake City has a Zoo like Hogle Zoo. This is a family friendly place where you can enjoy some quality memories with people that you know. It doesn't host the most vast selection of animals(surprisingly mostly cat descendants) but, it's still is very amusing. Animals appear to be cared for well and I would recommend if you do go, to attend the bird show.

It is not the same Zoo! Wow, everything has been redone since the early 2000's. It has been redone to be a much more natural for the animals. It's not a big zoo but there was a bird show and a show for the seals and the elephants. I enjoyed really fresh and tasty food at lunch time. Bravo! I will definitely return.

The sea lion show was my favorite! There are 3 baby lion cubs there right now, oh my heart was so happy to witness bath time with mama! The staff really care about the animals here, they abide to high standards of zoo facility expectations from what I hear, and have impressive training firsts like voluntary blood samples from the gorillas I believe. The seals and elephants get to do paintings and you can buy them from the gift shop and the money goes to wildlife conservation. I can't wait to go to Zoo Brew, I hope they start doing it weekly! Seems like they made the zoo smaller in the last few years so that they can focus and maintain it better.

oI was very surprised and impressed by this zoo. After reading reviews that it wasnt anything special or they were disappointed, I didn't expect much. I moved here from Fresno, California and also lived in Tucson, Arizona and this zoo was wonderful.

I was surprised how big it was and how active the animals were. They also had a part where it mimicks "the bay" which I loved. Overall great experience that my 2 year old daughter enjoyed.

Great zoo, however not Disney Land level of staff

This is a great zoo, kids love it. I wasn't impressed though when I wanted to upgrade my pass the first time using it this year so I could get the kids on the train and carousel. I have been purchasing a season pass for three years now so I purchase it at the 15% discount for renewing it. I thought I was getting the pass with the free rides but come to find out it wasn't. Went to upgrade and the lady made me pay the full price difference and didn't give me the discount that I had from renewing my pass. Said she couldn't do anything about it. Had a couple other negative experiences with the staff where they seemed indifferent and didn't come across as putting the customer first. Also heads up on the prices in the restaurant they are very high for mediocre at best food.

Fun place for the kids though, recommend the kids wearing the swimsuit underneath the clothes so they can play in the splash pad.

Family-friendly, clean and organized...this isn't a large zoo, but there is a good variety of animals and activities. They have made a lot of improvements over the last 10 years or so...it keeps getting better and better! Be prepared for a lot of walking though...and some hills on the south side of the zoo!

Later fall time is actually a pretty great time to go see the animals...lots out and about, just dress warm...not happy about how expensive it is now..the season pass is worth it if going more than 2 or 3 times per year. Zoo lights are good too!

Hogle Zoo Christmas Lights review. Starts at 5:30 PM. Took wife and kids and we had a great time. Plenty of lights to walk through. The highlight was a bridge that you walk over that is a tunnel of lights. We paid $5 a ticket (found them on discount) definitely worth the money. FYI the animals are not out. Only the otters that live in their tank.

I have visited a few zoos worldwide, from the brilliant to the mundane, the gigantic to the toyishly small. My home zoo in Boise punches above its weight class for such a small zoo. It's cozy without being cloying, and it even has two tigers and lions, impressively enough.
I was expecting something somewhat grander with Salt Lake City's Hogle Zoo, but I'm sorry to say that even though it was generally a good outing, it fell far short of expectations for a zoo that services such a large metropolitan area.
There were a few strange things, such as too many of the exhibits didn't open at the same time the zoo did! A few attractions didn't open until almost two hours after. The Polar Bear enclosure looked like it wouldn't be out of place in the Sahara and more than a few animals were nowhere to be seen.
Not to mention that the first thing you see upon entering is a large construction area, and the train out of commission. We were made to understand this new section would open in the Spring 2014. It wasn't open in the last week of May, a bit late for "Spring".

The zoo is always a great family adventure. Even during these uncertain times they've figured out ways to make it enjoyable! I can't wait until they can be fully open with no restrictions.

Beautiful zoo! Spacious, clean, and features a wonderful variety of species. Nice to walk through the whole zoo. Everybody has large exhibits and enough space. The harbour seal show was amazing as well, and it was great finding a place where the seals could participate in the show (instead of just the sea lions) and the seals looked like they enjoyed it. The viewing area for the zebras and giraffes was gorgeous, and they had loads of space. The gift shop was also beautiful. One of my favorite zoos, and I hope to visit again!

I love how the zookeeper's will just come tell you random interesting facts about animals. And how they play with the animals from outside the enclosure. Everyone's super friendly here. And there's a splash park for warmer weather so bring extra clothes for little ones.

This is a nice Zoo. I love that the Zoo participates in ZAP. We go on their periodic free days. They have lots of rest areas. They have a great playground. It is home to a decent variety of animals that seem to be loved and cared for well. Zoo food is expensive but that is a given. Always a good time at Hogle Zoo.

I had such a good time at the Hogle Zoo! There is a good variety of animals and plenty to look at. I loved seeing the giraffes and the lions. I was disappointed, that I did not get to see any small monkeys. On another note, I do recommend the flavor burst cones, garlic parmesan fries and bacon cheeseburger. They were amazing!

The zoo used to offer a lot more species of animals to view, but it seems that they recently had a change in their approach and have taken out a lot of exhibits to create large exhibits for safari animals, lions, tigers, and sea lions/polar bears. The feel of the whole place is more like an amusement park, with large general exhibits with ways they can make extra money and places of recreation like splash pads and carousels. It's still a fun time though, and depending on the crowds could be an all day event. I'd say check out the bird show for sure and order your tickets for zoo entry online.

Each year the zoo gets better and better. I have 4 boys ages 11 to 3 and they had a ton of fun! This is not the same zoo it was 5-10 years ago!

My favorite parts include

African Savanna
The kids playground and splash zone
Asian Highlands
Polar Bears (they have been active every time I ve gone)

Seriously my kids could have played for a couple hours in the splash pad/play area. I do wish there were a few more hands on things to do and I don t like the food pricing but that goes with the territory.

If I lived closer I would consider a membership zoo lights is awesome and the other events they do throughout the year look fun!

The zoo itself is wonderful. We went there on free Wednesday, the parking lots were so full that we had to park far away on the street. It was very difficult to go around as a group. My friend says the ice cream she ordered was not tasty as she hoped. The small animal building smelled really badly. It will be good to expect the odore as you enter the area.

Took my gf here, Had to chase her everywhere as she ran from exhibit to exhibit, I've herd bad things about this Zoo that seem to be lies, All the animals were well fed in happy and or in relaxed state with toys and entertainment at paw hoof and hand!!!

For a place that s overly concerned about masks, social distancing and over crowding sure never was a concern to any of the big bad security officers that yelled at everybody. I saw several times employees rudely yelling at customers about masks, very unprofessional and I do understand that masks need to be warn & warn correctly but you could have a little bit of decency when asking customers if you re going to do so. Not only that there were many habitats just empty, and we hope to get more animals soon was what the lady operating the train stated on the ride (the most ignorant unprofessional, rude one of all yelling at a mom feeding her crying baby over her mask not being correct because it had fallen down)
This visit will be the last time you get business from myself or my family. What a joke. Sad to see such a fun place turn into such a shitshow.

Although I enjoy viewing the animals I normally couldn't see in the wild, It hurts to see them caged up. The mighty gorilla seemed quite sad.

I do like the upgrades that have been done and the otter seal enclosure are awesome.

Annual Pass holder here! We love this zoo! They have sunrise and sunset safari days for members who get to enjoy extended hours. It's a beautifully kept zoo and the animals are always active and happy. You can feed the giraffes and interact with the animals and learn about them. The zoo workers and volunteers are always willing to answer questions and share the details about the animals. The bird show is worth the wait.
