My family and I loved the Zoo. Went the Friday of memorial weekend and I must say it was crazy busy. Waited about 20 minutes in line for tickets to get in. Some exhibits were closed which was a bummer but other than that it was fun. I d recommend bringing in your own lunch, drinks &snacks. Even some toys to steer your toddlers away from the crazy priced toys there! Lol Also highly recommend stroller/wagon for toddlers, it s a lot of walking for a young child especially when going up Hill after the seeing the Cheetahs.

There is a lot of walking but the exhibits are large and can be seen from many angles while walking. The bird show is awesome. There are activities for the little kids to do such as a splash pad and a merry go round.

This is my favorite zoo. They have a great selection of living creatures, a very outgoing staff and offer a lot of hands on activities. The enclosures are large, very natural looking and positioned in a way to get you very near the animals. Expect to spend at least 3 hours here, although we average around 5 with my curious little monsters.

Seen a lot of zoos across country - visited this one many times as child - helped care for a baby orangutan as a medical student - this year came back to visit with 90 year old parents who both need motorized carts - tried 3 times and couldn't get in, solely due to the unhelpful attitudes of the uncaring "kids" running the place. Made absolutely NO attempts whatsoever to concern themselves about helping us. This is definitely NOT the same zoo as under Mr Farnsworth! Disappointing!

Have not been to the zoo for a long time. It has changed a lot. The exhibit are much smaller and they have taken away quite a few animals. It was fun to see the new baby gorilla. Boo Lights is more for little kids. I think it would be nice to have red lights to see the animals better in the night you couldn't see them but you could hear them and that was cool.

If you live here, go see it once. If you are visiting, don't bother unless you've never seen a real zoo before.

Its a very small zoo for a city this size. Some of the enclosures seemed small and in poor condition. I expected high prices from the concessions and gift shops, but I also spent 50 bucks admission for a family of four. In spite of the high cost and small size, the place was still incredibly crowded on the saturday that we went. So many people and strollers that we couldn't hardly see anything.

I might go again if they do a large scale expansion and renovation, but otherwise no. I've seen the elephants, no need to surf the crowd again.

I don t remember the last time I was this sad. Pitiful existence for most of the animals. Minimal attempt to provide a natural environment for most of the animals, card board boxes, kennels, baskets. Small enclosures for large animals. My grandchildren were horrified! Dont believe your star rating for one second, unless it is supposed to have a -behind it! I hope you step up your game and give these creatures the life they deserve!!

First of all I absolutely love the zoo! I would probably rate it 5 stars if I did not have a nursing baby. Also, parking is a complete joke and it took 15-20 mins in line to buy tickets to get in. I don't typically leave reviews on anything but I was very disappointed yesterday and thought it may help other moms to read this.
I took my 6 month old for the first time yesterday and was frustrated that mid way through the park she got hungry and come to find out that the "nursing room" was in the building next to the entrance! I would assume that anyone taking a breast fed baby would feed their child before they got there? So of course you wouldn't need to use this room the second you entered the zoo.
The Hogle Zoo is large enough that it took me a while to get back there and by the time I did my daughter was basically inconsolable because she was now very hungry, also was warm and she had worked up a sweat crying on our journey back. When we got into this nursing room I was more frustrated because it was dirty. You can tell it does not get attention when janitorial services clean the bathrooms. Before I could do anything for her I wiped the table down and put a blanket on the chair. The chair was filthy and rug looked like it was used outdoors for years, along with the table. I guess maybe I am being too critical but it is hard to feel any comfort in that kind of environment. Anyways, she had a hard time calming down cause she had gotten so upset, so we left within about an hour and a half from the time we got there. Looking back there may have been poor planning on my part, however I don't think things would have gone that way if they had another a nursing room somewhere else in the park. We will not be going back till she is older.

My (almost 2 year old) daughter loves visiting. I do wish some of the enclosures were larger since many animals could use some more space, but overall you can tell they are doing their best. The small animal house is the best when it is chilly outside. We could walk in circles in there forever!

This is a pretty good zoo. It is growing and has some nice attractions. Most of the animals were pretty active when we went...except the big cats but that s ok. It was super crowded due to spring break but I can t hold it against the zoo for being popular. The grounds were clean and restrooms and food spots were nicely/easily located throughout.

The Google Zoo is one of the best places in the valley to spend a day. We visit at least once a month and there always seems to be something fun and new to see. The crowds can be big some days but the keepers are very knowledgeable and always have answers for the little ones.

The zoo was the first place we took our kids since the Pandemic. And we do not regret it since everything was so organized and well maintained. I don t know how it s now but we needed to buy our tickets online and schedule a time to go, and we could just spend 2h inside the Zoo. We loved our last visit everything was perfect as always.

This zoo is unrecognizable from the zoo I remember it being when I was a child! I am so impressed with all the effort they have put into improving their enclosures and care for their animals. I remember seeing the big cats in a open building with concrete floors and now they live in absolutely beautiful exhibits that mimic their natural habitats. In every area of the zoo there are different themes that have to do with the part of the "world" you are in like Asian Highlands, Rocky Shores, and African Savannah and each different habitat and culture is authentically represented with surrounding buildings and sounds. It really completes the feel of the zoo. I have been to many zoos and I am so pleased at the quality of care Hogle has for their animals. The reason why you sometimes don't see animals on exhibit is because THEY ARE GIVEN A CHOICE OF WHETHER OR NOT THEY WANT TO BE INSIDE. If the animal wishes to remain in their indoor enclosure the keepers would NEVER force the animal outside just to please the gawking and noisy guests! And the fact that the zoo is crowded and that people are uneducated and let their kids knock on the glass is in NO WAY THE FAULT OF THE ZOOS AND DOES NOT MEAN THE ZOO DESERVES A BAD REVIEW!

If I had one complaint myself, it would be that some enclosures in the small animal building are becoming outdated but the zoo already knows this and in their master plan, they are getting rid of the small animal enclosure and are replacing it with a playground for kids.

Hogle Zoo is small but I will go back again and again because they create such a fantastic atmosphere for its visitors. I highly recommend a visit to this adorable zoo. Your money goes to caring for the beautiful animals in its care.

Great place to take my family! I have had a membership for the last three years and it has been worth every penny. I have made so many memories at the Hogle Zoo, and I look forward to making more.

Okay, all hippy nonsense aside. This is a great zoo for the kids, and the animals are well cared for. Many of the animals are rescued critters which makes me feel better about the whole situation in general.

Now all hippy nonsense included. Animals should not be in cages, and Harambe would probably still be alive if he was in the jungle. #RIP

For a mid-sized zoo, they do a really excellent job with the place. Almost all of the exhibits have been redone over the last few years. The big downside is that they make it harder to see the animals but the animals are better taken care of which is a good thing.

This zoo was so fun! It is smaller than the Portland zoo (and much smaller than the San Diego Zoo). It's smaller size makes it ideal for families with small children that may tire out quickly. We were able to see nearly all of the zoo without feeling rushed in the space of about 3 hours. Despite it's smaller size it still has PLENTY of fun animals to see! I was not left wanting. We went on free zoo day in December and it wasn't crowded at all! There were a few animals that weren't available to see because of the weather, but the majority of animals were out and about, enjoying the snow! In fact, I've never seen so many animals being so active at a zoo in one day! There is also a nice indoor area filled with smaller animals to view while you warm up. I highly recommended this zoo!

Don't think you can make it thru in one visit....(only if you rush). It is such a cool place, we got the yearly pass, so we can go again and again. This zoo is open year round! That's the best news yet!

Every addition to the zoo is well done. I always see active animals and the park and exhibits is clean and fun. The zoo is 2 thumbs up. I have been to a few top zoos in the nation. At the pace they are growing, I hope they can be incredible as them.

Zoo lights are fantastic. Don't expect to see a lot of animals at night though as most of them are either inside or sleeping...but the otters were out, and the sea lions too which were fun to watch. Wear warm clothes and bring some hot cocoa.

We went to see the zoo lights. Was nice. I was just upset that after waiting in the ticket line, that to trade up on 2 child day tickets, they wouldn't just charge me the difference so I had to pay full ticket price- $20.00. I gave the 2 child tickets to another family in line. They were "day" tickets so already paid $12.95 each. Ouch!

If you go early (9 am) it's not too busy. As time goes on it gets busier. It has changed a lot since I was there before. The exhibits are a lot nicer, but I was disappointed in the amount of time the animals were visible. The sea lions were the best.

Fun zoo. A lot of the animals were hiding, but most were out and doing animal stuff. I was impressed with how clean it is and I only saw a couple of people who were actively cleaning things. They are really good or the visitors are really respectful. All of the interpretive staff my family interacted with were very friendly and knowledgeable. Nice touches on some of the walkways having interesting textures and imprints of plants and animals tracks. It's a shame everyone else was wearing shoes; the brave barefoot ones like me get the full experience

They have the main big cats, elephants, giraffes, rhinoceros, apes, and one of our favorites, the red pandas. When we went some of the ape exhibit was closed due to covid-19 but most of the stuff was open and they had reasonable safety measures in place.

Great options, and fun to see many different animals. Overall a great place to take kids. My 4 year old had a blast and even my 1 year old just enjoyed being out in a very active area with lots to see. Only complaint is the kids area has no areas of shade for the benches that parents can sit and make sure their kid doesnt take off our of the only entrance the fun playground and water areas have.

A cruel business to imprison all those creatures. If you re an animal lover you should be ashamed to pay this institution to capture animals from the wild and let them live in such misery. The animals here are maltreated, look bored, have limited space and appear very miserable. So sad to see in today s world that this is happening and yet animal lovers worldwide flock to see these cute creatures with whom we share the world, imprisoned for no wrongdoing. I did some research into the conservation programs upheld by this zoo and others alike and discovered these to be means to positively promote publicize and encourage the public to spectate and marvel at the expense of another s life. In short these conservation programs do not deliver and are only a means to make the zoo look as though it s giving back something to the wild. Do your own research contact organizations and find out what s The Hogle Zoo is actually doing, and how these programs are carried out. I hope you come to your own conclusion that lining the pockets of some rich man at the top of this scam isn t worthwhile the lives of many maltreated animals for the future.

The family and myself hd wonderful time. We can't wait until after Covid19 to return and be ae to see everything back to the way it always was. But even now it was great. I really like how it was t packed really full of people.

It was a great time with the grandkids, can't believe how much things have changed since the last time here. It was a little hot but they have a lot of cover to get under and cool off, and the ice cream worked as well.
