Wow
The zoo has changed so much. Don't forget your picnic!
Easy access. Most animals are easy to see. The big bugs are cool to see.
Great experience!! They did a good job with making it a good experience while still working to maintain distancing, and most of the outside exhibits were in good view.
Changed so much for the better in the past 2 years. Love taking the family. The admission prices and memberships are similar to much larger zoos in the U.S. .
Hopefully they are using that money to continue in their expansion by giving larger enclosures to some of the animals who desperately need it.
The animals could be taken care of better and have more space. But in general it's a nice place with lots to see.
Grossly over priced, food prices are extremely expensive! We spend $75 just on 1 corn dog each, 4 fries, and four drinks. A water is almost $5! I get being slightly more expensive but its just a crazy amount. However it has alot of cool exhibits, and now a feed the giraffe extra.
The Kids really enjoyed seeing the animals and playing at the splash pad today.
Fun zoo to take the kids.
Pro: exhibits, playground/ splash pad area
Con: Food quality/price and train ride
For example: a kids meal consists of a corn dog, mini applesauce, and ind package of animal crackers $7.50 drink not included. Child size plastic cup (can take home) $3.50. This does not include any refills.. those are $1. I quite honestly wouldn't complain if the food was better quality. My daughter got the chicken tenders. It came out as 1 chicken tender of a brick like consistency. In short, 3 kids meals, 2 kids small souvenir cups, 2 adult meals- $61.52. The train ride is about $1 a minute/ person. It goes past through the savanna exhibits & then into mining sites. I'm not sure if the zoo was built around an old mining camp or if it's just for fun, no explanation.
In summary, it is an overall great experience for little kids but bring your own food and the train ride is probably not worth it.
Utah's one and only Zoo. Fun for kids, easy to navigate around the park. Tip: Bring your own snacks & water bottles, they overcharge for these items. The $2 train ride is not worth a second ride. Check out the bird show! Go during the week to avoid crowds.
We love the zoo. Pretty frustrating during covid times though. I wish the zoo would mandate masks. Only about 50% of people wear a mask, so what's the point??? Too many inconsiderate people.
The zoo is great! The kids and adults all have a blast!
I lived living in Utah. We're have one of best Zoo's EVER
Love love love this place so glad that the animals are well taken care of!
The bird show was awesome. The animals were really cool.
Wonderful! Someone even returned our daughters winter coat by hanging it on the white picket fence where I dropped it out front of the parking lot. No one else took it either! Everyone who visits there and works there is kind and honest. This is our second excellent experience with more to come. These photos are from Boo at the Zoo!
We loved seeing the animals and the park was very clean! The only thing I was surprised with was that the mask mandate was not enforced and people coming in had no hints of even owning one. I know the Utah mask mandate is going to be lifted soon but while it's still in effect I thought it would be more enforced. Especially at a popular destination like the Hogle Zoo. Still enjoyed my visit though!
It was beautiful. I really loved coming back to this zoo.
I understand and appreciate the safety measures when it comes to covid 19, I did appreciate the selected time slots as it was not crowded at all.. however i don t understand how you still charge full price when most exhibits are closed, and most animals you can t see? It s too hot for some animals so they have them in the exhibits that are closed off.. The sign also says wear a mask when in exhibits except every exhibit is closed off? And no one is wearing a mask.. I had a family stand right behind me ( not 6 feet apart) and someone sneezed right on me.. no mask, did not cover sneeze, here I am with my mask - dealing with the mask in the 100 plus temperature. i moved to another area by the otters.. again another person sneezes right behind me. . no mask, no social distancing.. everyone crowding to see the one animal out.. it was so uncomfortable!!! All in all...
1. Lower your prices during this time, as the zoo is not running fully equipped to see the animals
2. Mandate mask the ENTIRE time at the zoo..
Beautiful, clean zoo. Saw many animals active. Kid friendly.
Excellent zoo for the price! Parking at the zoois very easy during the off season. Within, you can find all of the expected staplrs of the zoo, including Elephants, lions and tiger!
BEST PLACE EVER there was an epic looking cat and there was a giraffe that did an epic thing
The zoo is awesome! Even though it was sweltering hot, we could see almost every animal. One of the best zoos we have ever visited.
This zoo has lots of great animals to see. It can get crowded even if you go during the week. The animal containment areas are really great because you can often get amazing views of the animals, especially the polar bear.
Small zoo that is well maintained.... the animal enclosures are on the small side, but overall the animals seem content with their situation
Last time we went there were a lot of exhibits closed so I have seen it better. Let's hope that is a temporary thing.
Awesome place for the whole family to visit, explore and learn.
Good, place, they don't have everything, a big city zoo's have and space is small comparative but still fun, can usually see everything within a few hours. Make sure to get there early or late when the animals are awake!
Staff was friendly and always seemed happy. Everything was well kept and I had a great time
Was by appt only. Felt like we had the zoo to ourselves.
This is a beautiful Zoo! Growing up and watching to grow and develop further has been incredible! We have a Premier Booster Membership and it s been great!! We love the added bonus of getting to bring guests and having three named adults! My kiddos love it!
Really great. Animals were out and active despite the heat.
Great place for the family, it's a cheap activity that will excite the kids.
Zoo lights are great for the whole family, However you better bundle up tight.
Wonderful zoo! Very clean, modern and well maintained and well managed. Great family experience with lots to do with the kids of all ages; animals, exhibits, shows, parks, splash pads and big up-close windows to get face to face with the animals.
Fun place to take your kids and walk around! The animals were pretty active due to somewhat rainy weather and us bring there during eating time. We wish the bird show was running by now but I don't think it starts up again until May. The zoo is small enough that you can see all the animals within 3-4 hours.
The Hogle Zoo is overall a pretty well done zoo. They've made a lot of changes over the last few years; some for the better, others not so much. I wouldn't say it even rivals any of the top 5 zoos in the nation, but it's really not bad. Some of the zoo is getting a bit dated, but they seem to be steadily updating things.
Sadly, what I would have called as a few of their highlights, are actually exhibits that have been removed recently in favor of larger spaces for their African wildlife display. You also can't get anywhere near as close to the giraffes as you used to be able to (used to be able to practically feed them).
It can get extremely hot here in the summer. There's a lot of asphalt and concrete that traps in the sun, and not a lot of shade. A normally hot day will feel much hotter at the zoo.
They do allow outside food and drink, so it can be nice to plan ahead and bring a stroller or wagon with a cooler and some ice water; you can thank me later.
Some of the more notable exhibits are the elephants and rhinos, their big cat area, penguins and polar bears, and be sure to catch a bird show if you can.
Overall, not a bad zoo. There's certainly room for improvement, but it's not a bad place to burn an afternoon (and on even a warm day, "burning" is literally what you'll be doing).
We went for Brew at the Zoo and had a great time! This one is an adults only event once a month after hours. They have beer and wine tents and the crowd is much smaller than a normal zoo day so seeing the animals is much more enjoyable!
We had an extraordinary day learning about the animals, and enjoyed the Bird show.
Such a fun place for family and friends to go, they have lots of all age friendly exhibits and it's such a cool place to be!
Pretty good zoo. Some of the animals are a bit sad looking, but nothing near as bad as the sad carcasses hanging out at the Lagoon zoo.
I just dont get it u pay alit of money and dont ser half the animal no
We went and seen the light's at the zoo it was pretty cool, my children lived it.
We loved seeing all of the animals here. There was a wider selection of animals this time around from a couple of years ago, too. I just think Hogle Zoo needs to draft ideas of how to better care for the animals during the summer months so more cooling options are available. Some just seemed super tired and exhausted just from the heat alone.
My wife and I heard that November was half off and decided to go. I had pretty low expectations to be honest. It ended up being extremely fun and the animal's they had were much cooler then I expected. Extremely fun and very safe with the COVID safety and restrictions they have.
We love this zoo and every couple of years get a family membership. We love the zoo lights, boo lights, bird show, beastro, and everything in between. Never had a negative experience here that was caused by a member of the staff. We will continue to come back here for many years
Hogle Zoo pix April 17 2019 went with my daughters kindergarten class so me and wife took lil bro also
I think how they set up hogle zoo is awesome if course this is one area of the whole experience. What they have done is experience sections of the world from Asia to Africa to america to Antarctica I loved the zoo within a zoo it was a great opportunity for the kids to experience to ask questions of the animals within that region what makes them unique. Of course the red panda
Loved our experience today! It was great! However, when we went on the train I felt bad. The conductor had such great stories but we couldn't understand half of what she was saying because she was wearing a mask. That seemed stupid to me as no one was near her and it would seem that every effort would be made to make sure people could get the info she was trying to share.
The zoo is really nice. There are allot of animal attractions and Lil things to do like feeding giraffes. The zoo is very clean. But the bathrooms are very spread out and only can purchase water.
What a great zoo! Not too big, not too small. Perfect for a nice afternoon walk.
2nd worst zoo I've ever been to, don't go when it's hot outside animal's are in the shade about a quarter mile away, all you can see is there butts
The children loved it, especially the bird show and they have a great playground with a splash pad, it is expensive if you pay for a day pass but if you bought a season pass and went a few times.then it isn't to pricey.
