We bought and annual family pass this year as our boys love to see the animals. The food is pretty good and buying the souvenir cups is ideal for multie visits due to the cheap refills. Overall a good trip for the family.

Utah's Hogle Zoo is a 42-acre (17 ha) zoo located in Salt Lake City, Utah. It houses animals from diverse ecosystems. It is located at the mouth of Emigration Canyon. Hogle (pronounced "ho-gul") is an accredited member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) and the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA). The zoo has been at its present location at the mouth of Emigration Canyon since 1931 on land donated by Mr. and Mrs. James A. Hogle. Its original location was in Salt Lake City's Liberty Park. In 1916, the zoo purchased Princess Alice, an elephant, from a traveling circus. She gave birth to the first elephant born in Utah. His name was Prince Utah and he died at eleven months old. Current exhibits include various birds, mammals, and reptiles from around the world. The zoo is owned by the city of Salt Lake City and is supported through tax dollars and private donations raised by the Utah Zoological Society.

I love this zoo! The bird show is definitely the best part, but everything here is wonderful. I've gone on normal summer days and even to their 21+ Zoo Brew night and it was the best. They animals all seem happy and well taken care of.

Great

Small to medium-sized zoo but makes the most of it with a broad variety of interesting and rare animals. The animals are well cared for and appear healthy, content and active. Staff is knowledgeable and helpful. They have this tortoise that just looks like a huge boulder. It's awesome.

It s a bit expensive ($20 for an adult ticket) and the train to see the bison is an additional $2.50. However, the park shows an awesome conservationist message and has a large variety of animals. In the middle of the day the animals are a bit lethargic and not the most exciting as they are sleeping. However, it is a good zoo with a good opportunity to see animals from all over the world.

They have done a really great job at bettering the animal encampments and face lifting the customer experience. It still has a few things that could be improved and animal variety, but that will come with time as the zoo continues to grow.

My kids love going to the zoo. I wish the carousel and train were included in the admission ticket price. The elephant show is fun; I was disappointed to find out it does not run in fall, though.

Our favorite Zoo. Lots of great animals you can usually see. Love the polar bear. Brown bears, elephants. During "covid" several of the small kid activites are closed and theres not many shows, but the carousel was open! (as of this date). A great outdoor thing to do during covid. The food is open.

Always loved Hogle Zoo as a kid. School trips and family events. Took my children as toddlers, As my children got older I didnt go as much. Then we moved away. Well, then we head about Zoo and Brew. My husband and I had a great time. Nothing agaist children, but it was peaceful. The park is beautiful. What a great date night.

My company booked the zoo for our summer party and we had a great time! The staff was friendly and the animals seemed to be in good spirits. We saw roosters walking about, a monkey climbed right next to the fence and hung out by me for a moment; There were zebras, lions, ostriches, seals, bears, elephants, bibcats, vultures... So enchanting!!! I was also really happy to see the remodeling for their environments (though they did it a few years ago). It is a big improvement
I came late so I missed the seal and aviary shows but I'll be sure to check them out next time!

The zoo has improved considerably over the years especially with all of the public assistance they received over the years. Along with that they have raised entry fees and Family passes considerably.
I used to take my children regularly and I would like to do the same for my Grandkids but the cost is too high and they don't seem to have as many animals as before.
$19 for adults, $15 for kids

We went early this morning to the Hogle Zoo, everything looks great, its definitely been improved. The beastro was very clean and in order. It's small but enough to see still. We enjoy quicker types of entertainment venues but they had shows available for those that want to make a day of it. Will return probably again this fall.

I love taking my kids to the zoo. It is fun to see all the upgrades and improvements they are making at the Hogle Zoo. No matter how many times we visit, each visit is an enjoyable one.

Our once a year getaway from the valley. We love the zoo. Hogle is the closest you can come to a true city like zoo experience, for about a radius of 700 miles. Grateful to have it out here in the desert

Winter is the best time to go. The weather is perfect. The animals are out and about. There is hardly anybody there. The girl in the gorilla and orangutan encounter was annoying. We miss the wolves and giraffes. Thank you!

Wonderful experience. We were able to feed a giraffe for $5 and it was so cool to be able to get that close to such a gentle giant. Some really neat exhibits here. I also really like how they rent strollers and double strollers for a pretty reasonable price.

Took my kids here, there's lots of fun things to do beside look at animals. My kids liked the splash pad and playground a lot. $2.50 seems a fair amount to ride the little safari train around the new African animal exhibit. Would recommend...

Went in December on a sun shiny day without the crowds. It was awesome. Our three young kids loved every bit of it. Highly recommend that you go during the off season when tickets are discounted and you have more free reign in the park.

We had a really good time going to the zoo. I went all the time as a kid and this was the first time taking my son. He enjoyed it alot. I know he was a little disappointed because I told him all about the crocodile that was there when I was young. He was really excited to see it and turns out that's no longer there, but he had a great time anyway and wants to go back soon! We also LOVED seeing the new one month old baby gorilla. Amazing to see.

Just the right size. You can see all the animals in 2-3 hours and head home when you're tired. The seal/sea lion exhibit is definitely my favorite! A little crowded but not overbearing. Shady areas here and there but definitely bring sunscreen and hats.

It's great and they had a lot of sea art made out of trash.... however the reptile exhibit seemed inhumane to me. A lot of animals shaking... especially the birds in the middle area and the poor animals near the doors which were being slammed closed every 2- 5 minutes... this entire area should be looked at and revamped to create a more comfortable and humane environment.
