This zoo is very clean compared to others. Staff is nice and so are the views! I gave the zoo 3 stars because the habitats only have 1 or 2 animals that look super sad. Rhinos look like they haven't ate in days.

This is a great place to take kids. I recommend coming early in the morning though when the animals are a little more active and it s cooler out. They have a many different types of animals that are worth seeing. Also their fries are good here. There is a good spot by the bears that have fresh cut fries and is possibly the best place to eat while there. I highly recommend getting a year pass. It gives you something to do during the week now that school is out.

In the past this zoo has been under construction and difficult to get around and not a lot of interesting animals to see. This year though, we took a chance to take our kids, and we were pleasantly surprised! We went in August and there was no construction, a new train ride, a splash pad for kids to get soaking wet. It was fun, if you get a chance take your kids!

I m not against keeping exotics, but the the enclosures are too small to allow some of these animals any exercise and enrichment. I saw the fox in the small animals building, most lizards of a similar size would do great in that enclosure, but foxes have a higher metabolism and are 10 times as active and need at least double the space. I noticed that the sulcata has some pyramiding on it s shell, Look into how much UVB light and calcium you r giving your reptiles and amphibians. I am begging you to take some advice from the living planet aquarium.

Hogle Zoo is always a great experience! Lines never too long for concessions or rides, grounds well-kept, exhibits carefully thought out, neat exhibits that change seasonally. Love our zoo!

This is a fabulous little zoo. We went in a group with 6 kids ranging in age from 6 months to 8 years. Everyone had a good time. There is a great variety of animals. The employees of the zoo that we encountered were helpful, knowledgeable, and kind. The play area was a major hit, even after walking around all day. I would definitely recommend a visit to Hogle Zoo!

Nationally ranked zoo nestled in the beautiful mouth of a canyon with a gorgeous backdrop of the mountains. Top notch exibits and lots of fun things for kids of all ages including a playground, a train, a carousel, and a splash park.

Small zoo. Many animal enclosures are too small for the animals, and I was very sad for them. Standard high ticket prices and expensive cheaply made souvenirs, with extremely high food/drink prices. Super crowded with children and strollers everywhere. Not well advertised if there are adult only times if there even are options for adults only.

The Hogle Zoo is great. So much fun to bring the kiddos out to learn about these amazing animals. The park is large enough to never really feel overcrowded even if the parking lot is full. The only days to avoid are field trips which you can call in and ask about.

We bought the $99 annual pass which makes it so you don't have to stay all to to get your money's worth. Only a few trips out will pay for the pass.

The animals are also very interactive and fun. Highly recommended this place to have some fun and get some exercise.

Absolutely loved going. Not too much of a walk but great exercise. The animals were all mostly laying down but being fair it was really hot outside when I went. Got great pictures of the animals anyway. Reptile house was great and informational. Carousal ride was fun. They even had a chicken that got to walk around doing his own thing lol

A good app with a nice selection of animals. Participates heavily in conservation and education efforts. "Zoo Brew" is a fun regular event where you can casually bring beer and enjoy learning about and observing animals.

The two stars are mostly for the landscaping as well as the animals that I was fortunate to see and/or hear (e.g., elephants, giraffes, pinnipeds, and raptors). The facility could benefit from improvements associated with personnel.

I understand that young people can make up a big part of the zoo's staff, but its lack of arithmetic skills can be indicative of the abysmal state of education in this country. The crew's handling of diversity can be another point of concern. I went to the concession stand near the carousel to buy frozen lemonade, and a white girl working at the register gave me inaccurate amounts of change during two instances. The girl cited the register's malfunctioning as an excuse for not being able to calculate the right amount. I asked for a receipt, but the machine was out of paper. Another white female who I assume was her supervisor refilled the paper to address my request, but she dismissed the worker's ineptness, and the both of them did not acknowledge my being courteous.

I have been questioning why I had this negative experience. Was the girl intimidated by someone of a "minority" correcting her atrocious math? Was the supposed supervisor in a hurry to get rid of a "person of color"?

We love this zoo a must stop if around SLC. For 5$ u can feed the giraffes such an amzing experience. Staff is always helpful and the new play area is awesome. There is a splash area for kids there so make sure to bring dry clothes. Prices for food and drinks are reasonable and usually don't have to wait long for viewing. We come from Wyoming once a year to visit. Hope ur family enjoys as much as ours does :)

I remember this part of the zoo being awesome. Maybe I was young and just ok was amazing back then. But I remember it being a lot better. I don't think they have upgraded since I was a kid. What ever happened to Sasta the liger. Dead I know but they used to have a picture and story. At least work on breeding another one. Time for a remodel for sure.

Disappointed didn't alert us on their site that we had to purchase tickets online. No personnel directing people to follow the arrows and keep their social distancing enforced. Did NOT make masks or gloves mandatory.

Went to the zoo for Father's Day and it was really fun as adults! Currently have a sprained ankle and chose to rent a motorized cart. Highly recommended it! All of the cage upgrades/landscapes are amazing and the bird show was much more than expected. Absolutely loved it! The hawks were stunning, lots of unexpected extras and the interaction with the audience was darling.

We had a blast at Zoolights! We strolled around the zoo adoring the new animal figure lights, took pics with Santa, enjoyed hot cocoa & chocolate drizzled rice krispie treats and lastly, got some things for kids at the gift shop......and it was all affordable!!

Had a great time. The entire family had fun looking at everything they have to offer. Big remodeling project taking place for their safari section. Can't wait to see it when it is completed.

The admission is pricey for what it is as an adult (roughly $20 pp). Went on a Sunday afternoon. None of the animals were particularly lively and didn't look content with the state of their existence. Maybe because they had just ate or were just lounging... The grounds itself is pretty small too and there aren't a whole lot of exhibits. Maybe the experience would be better for a family. As someone with no kids, I think it would be wise to spend your money elsewhere.

My wife visits the zoo with the grandkiddies frequently, and they love it. I go about twice a year. The zoo is updated and family friendly. Animals, like lions, tigers, polar bears, etc., are able to be seen in "natural" habitats and sometimes just six feet away and up close! Lots to experience at the zoo. There's a train ride, a carousel, boo lights @ Halloween time, zoo lights @ Christmas time, dining areas, gift shops, etc. There are giant boweries for family or business events. Hogle Zoo is set up high in the foothills and there's lots of parking. Go enjoy!

It was a cold and rainy day, and the tigers were very active, along with the Amur Leopards, Red Pandas, and Lynxes. The living spaces for the animals strike a balance of making them visible while being humane and giving them enough space to roam. The informational placards are just enough to let you know about the animals and want to do more to conserve them -- this is a great part of the zoo.

It's a nice zoo, average size. Being an out of state resident i thought this zoo lacked in features and Animals for guests. Not worth the price for admission in my opinion. Still this zoo offers great services. A beautiful train to have a closer view of all animals, a large carousel for patrons and a nice assortment of items in the gift shop. A pleasant activity for the family.
