Normally I would do five stars but they had several of their eating establishments closed and there was no signs letting anyone know.
I attended Zoo Lights on New Year's Eve, and I was impressed by the number of light displays. Lions sneaking around at night are one of the creepiest things I've ever seen.
I don t recommend to people with babies and small children unless they want to be exposed to heavy toxic chemicals. Better wait till everything gets back to normal. Today I went for the first time to the zoo after they reopend with my husband and my 3 year old. They disinfect almost every corner using a mix of Bleach and water. The point is they don t do it safely. One lady from the stuff sprayed right in front of me and my kid with no warning. I felt very uncomfortable. At least they could have asked me to step aside or move further away. Will not visit again!
RED PANDAAAAAASSSSSSSS MADE MY DAY TO GO SEE THEM. but love the zoo. Overpriced food and all. Was even nice to go when it was cool outside because it was less crowded and the animals were out and active.
Love taking my son here! So much fun and LOTS to see
I love the way that we can fall in love with the animals there.
Not a huge zoo, but they pack a lot of good exhibits in the space. My kids really love the seals. I enjoy the great apes.
Why should I have to pay full price because of covid-19 restrictions to only be able to be at the zoo for a couple of hours according to the time blocks. That seems extremely unfair. Those that can't get a Time block till after 3:00 should not be charged full price.
Very pleasantly surprised by the wild bird show! It's definitely worth seeing.
This is the largest zoo in the state of Utah. Looking forward to their addition of red pandas this spring/summer. We easy take 2 hours here, but we love to stop and watch animals for a long while. What variety of animals.
Pretty good zoo. Wish it had more animals of different variety
Good clean zoo. Lots of fun animals to see and shows to watch. Lots of walking but there is a train tour if you want that option as well.
There is a lot of animals to see...check times before going we went in the morning and most of the animals were still sleeping
The zoo is set up really nice. The animals are very active
We went to the Zoo Lights..they do a wonderful job. It's beautiful and cheap to get in!
Me and my family had a great time at the zoo, it was with wheeler and we had catered food, free passes for food and the train. All of the staff were very friendly and it was a great place to spend the day.
Great place for kids and adults. Recommend going right when it opens so you can get good parking and miss the crowds. You can get more activity from some of the animals as well since they'll let them out into the encounters right when the zoo opens so they're moving around. The bird shows are always a favorite
I had a great time due to the company I was with, but the zoo experience was lacking in courtesy. I asked for a sensory bag at guest services & the staff had no idea what I was talking about. We went without one. Then we went to the bird show & a handler had a bird out. My daughter asked if she could pet it & the handler about bit her head off while saying no. We were not allowed to take our stroller in (understandably) so I was without the supplies in the stroller. I stepped out of the gate for a moment to grab a baby wipe for my son's runny nose & the staff would not let me back in. I left my special needs son with my daughter who is on the spectrum & was not allowed to return to them. We tried to find a picnic area to sit down to eat & asked a staff member where to go. They pointed us in the totally wrong direction to the pavilion that had been reserved for a large party. I don't think we will be returning to the zoo anytime soon. The staff was very rude. To top it all off (I know this is not the zoo's doing) when we were getting into our car to leave, a truck was waiting for our spot & honked at us cause we were not leaving fast enough. I am sorry, but it takes a few minutes to get a baby out of the stroller, into the car seat, hooked up to his feeding device, put the stroller in the car, & make sure my other child has her seat belt on correctly. If you don't want to be patient, find another parking space.
This zoo is amazing. The way they have their animals is awesome, they have more freed on and look very healthy and happy. The place is very clean and updated.
Always a great place to take the kids. They have a blast and get very tired from running all around. Very happy mama
Very nicely maintained
While entering one gentleman removed extra grass and planted punch of flowers plant
Great experience during the summer and winter for zoo lights! Entrance fee is reasonable and they have great souvenirs.
It's a fun place to take your kids. For many years, however, it has perpetually been under construction, so it seems like there is always something closed. My son has been disappointed that there have been no penguins for several years now.
Exhibits were awesome. Not too busy when we went--ate at the cafe and it was pretty good food.
Love the cute animals! Easy to take my baby around.
Love going when it's cooler the animals are super playful!
I work for a company that does work at the hogle Zoo I think there staff are amazing people and Zoo its self is always fun to visit.
My family and I absolutely love the Google zoo. We have yet to have a bad experience and we are excited about all of the new renovations. I miss the old buildings as they brought back fond memories from my childhood, but I am grateful for the new additions and the memories they will create for my little one.
Clean, well kept. Great exhibits. Fun for all ages!!
Fun place for kids, modernized, some buildings still need updating very bad, especially entrance/ exit doors.. no penguins, seas lion were fun but only two, very few seals.. expensive; $17 for a 3yo even with just 1 hour until closing
Great activity to bring the kids the whole day. My children loved the safari train ride.
We got the membership this year and it was so worth it. Everytime we visited (about 15 times per year) we had a different experience. The volunteers are so great and share awesome information.
The truth is that there is little variety of animals or maybe I did not come in the best time to visit, but it has good facilities and good options for eating inside the park
Was very hot and lots of animals were inside but we still had a blast as a family. Thank you
Grew up in Utah and the Zoo has grown too. Love to see the updates.
My kiddos loved all the bugs! Great zoo with lions and tigers and bears too!
Who doesn't love Hogle zoo?? These pics I posted were from Zoo Lights but we have a blast at the zoo pretty much year-round. They have renovated a good majority of the zoo so a lot of everything is brand new.
Really well cared for zoo. The animal sound effects in the different areas is a little strange, but the place is clean and the animals seem taken care of.
It was a great place to bring my four year old. He had the time of his life.
I always enjoy the zoo with my grandchildren. Too bad the sale on memberships came a month after I renewed mine - I could have saved quite a bit on fees and included more of my family in the membership.
It was an ok zoo. The waterpark was a nice relief on the hot day we went. However...the giraffe exhibit is terrible. We took our 3 kids to see them and found a huge line, only to find out it was for buying lettuce for the giraffes. We just wanted to see them up close. We also noticed the giraffes won t even pay attention and you can t even get a good look at them without the lettuce. We decided to bring my child in closer and one of the staff members blatantly and rudely said excuse me, you re holding up paying customers. I looked at him in SHOCK. I m not a paying customer when I just paid over $100 to get into the zoo?! That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard! You guys need a different setup for the giraffe exhibit. Construct a kiosk people can walk up to, pay and free feed, not ROPE IT OFF, segregating the paying customers from the OTHER paying customers who thought they paid enough! Pull it together, guys. Won t be returning if that s how you treat people. Go to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs to find yourself a great zoo experience. This was mediocre at best.
Hogle Zoo truly does its best given the limited space they have to work with. The facilities are kept up, new features added regularly, and they ensure that they always have the staples (lions, tigers, bears, reptiles, elephants). As I'm not a parent, I prefer to visit during the Zoo Brew events for the child-free aspect and, of course, the booze. And to top it all off, I can justify it with the fact that it's all for the benefit of wildlife.
Great family place! Park is usually pretty clean. Would like to see more wildlife
Great place for kids. Can be hard to find a parking when busy.
We have a membership to the zoo and we love going to see all the animals and they seem to treat them really well. I would give the zoo 5 stars if the guest service staff was better educated and trained.
We love our zoo pass! Go at off peak hours and through the fall, winter, and spring months for less crowds. Today when we went it was a little snowy (in March), but the animals were very active and there was only a handful of other people there. If you have a pass avoid the free days because it gets a little crazy. During the summer my kids love the playground and splash pad. They also love the bird show.
Our kids love the Zoo. We bought a family membership as going twice would pay for it. We have already been those two times in one month. Love the picnic areas as they allow outside food and drink. The bird show is a must!
I loved it, but I would love that the zoo were bigger.
Clean and well kept zoo. The animals seemed happy and my kids were even happier. The train ride is fun but short. The new playground and splash pad section is so fun! A great way to cool off on hot days at the zoo. There are so many great free photo ops too! Sculptures of lions, a birds nest, giraffes, river otters, and elephant, all free for kids to crawl on and adults to take pictures. There are plenty of educational and hands on experiences. The bird show is a family favorite.
I usually don't like zoos I think animals should be free, I was pleasantly surprised to see how large the areas are for the animals. They seem to get great care.
The experience of going to the Hogle Zoo is always pleasant. The animals look comfy and have lots of space to run around. Keepers have totally eliminated the dread people usually feel about feeling bad for their animals, the environments and habitats are always evolving to make the animals more comfortable. Every keeper I've talked to is knowledgeable about the animals they take care of.
My wife and I came for our anniversary weekend. We were able to feed the giraffes and the rhinos and learn more about them. A very fun and very educational experience. George and Princess were amazing to meet and love on and the handlers were very patient and knowledgeable.
Lots of animals, very nice zoo, great for the whole family
To expensive and not enough animals like there used to be
A good zoo although it is a little on the pricey side. Fun splash and play areas for kids.
Amazing place, great educational and conservation-focused facility with a wonderful variety of animals.
I recently had surgery when my family and I went. We called to make sure they have wheelchairs. You could rent either a push or motorized wheelchair. We were told they had discount coupons on dr. Pepper we went to the grocery store and it was not displayed on the box and the person I spoke to at the zoo said that there would be on the cans. They were not on the kids and we bought six boxes but they did end up letting us use it 4 the discount. To get access to the wheelchairs you have to go in through the gate and a little ways down. It was not very accessible. Also the wheelchair legs do not extend and since I had surgery on my knee I was unable to use the wheelchair that you push. They would not allow me to try the wheelchair before I paid so after paying I had to wait for a refund to get the motorized wheelchair. Once we got the wheelchairs situated we started to check out the animals and being in a wheelchair I'd have to say it was not a great experience. It's very hard getting in and out of the exhibit. The railings are right at the eye level so it was hard to take pictures and see anything. I sent an email to customer service and it has been since June and I have not heard anything back yet so instead of 3 stars I am going to have to say due to the customer service they only get a one-star. A lot of the animals were not out or they were closed. A lady had fell inside of the exhibits and it took 30 minutes for someone to come and help her after I called from my cell phone to get someone to help.
Best zoo around! I love the wide variety of animals and the live shows. The park is usually really clean too! Definitely schedule your day around the bird show. I love the amount available information on each of the animals.
Loved the polar bears and otters! Very hot in the summer and not a lot of shade.
I wish I could give more than 5 stars! I have been to many zoo's in my life I n the U.S. and Hogle Zoo does it right!
They have many interactive exhibits and the guests have lots of room to move around in, both the Humans and the Animals. My favorites are the Elephants and the Monkeys. Also make time to take the 10-15 minute train ride.
As for souvenirs and food there are great selections, as for staff they are very accommodating and knowledgeable. Restrooms are kept clean and functioning. There are paths for those with disabilities and the hills aren't to steep. There are strollers for rent and you can bring your own food within reason.
Amazing place to go and explore been going here since I was a child
