This zoo is not one of the larger ones around the country. But this is an excellent place to take kids (or adults) who might only want to spend 3-4 hours as opposed to the whole day. Very clean facilities and the food, while pricey, is better than average. Best to get there in the morning when they open if you want to find a parking spot close without having to cross Sunnyside Ave on foot.

Hogle Zoo is an excellent way to spend an afternoon with the family. Young kids and strollers welcome. We fed the giraffes (for an extra $5), saw monkeys, reptiles, and caught a bird show. We also enjoyed watching the elephants and peacocks. I didn't know that many of the zoo's occupants we're rescue animals. Very cool! We spent nearly 4 hours walking the entire park. Pretty good for 19$/person (kids under 3 free). Go check it out.

I have always loved this zoo ever since I was a little kid. I love all that they do to care for these animals and all the improvements they have made over the years. The enclosures have been expanded and I really like all the enrichment activities they provide for the animals. We went last Saturday and the baby elephant Zuri was splashing around in the water and playing. It was one of the most memorable zoo experiences I have ever had! Such a great place for families.

My daughter had a good time, but it's always hard for me to see those animals in captivity. They look to sad.

What a fun and relaxing place to waist away a cold morning. The animals are more active in winter, the best time to see the bears and the lions active is in the cold. The zoo lights are astounding on winter nights. The Hogle Zoo has so many things to offer all year round. This is a gym for all of us locals.

The Zoolights were fun. The kids enjoyed it although some of lights weren't working right. Most of the animals were asleep, but the atmosphere was fun. Lots of teenagers and collage kids hanging out.

The zoo lights sucked!!!!!!!!!!!! The pathways were super icy and my child fell twice. I thought she was going to break her neck. All the glow items were outrageous prices. All the zoo animals were either asleep or not even there. I am from pittsburgh and the pittsburgh zoo is 4 times bigger and they had penguins. I seen like 4 animals and the rest weren't even there. If i could rate this review lower i would give it a negative 20. The staff for my food were disresoectful to my kid too. This place needs to be fix for out of state people. The christmas lights were so lame. That i could do on my own house. If i could of got a refund i would. But they wouldnt even give me that. So dont spend a dime. Only to be upset as i was with my boyfriend that goes overseas for work

Very fun, not super huge, but still lots to see. Ticket prices are outrageous, $15 per adult. But they do have complimentary electric car charging, which is fantastic and something more attractions need to implement.

The hogle zoo is pretty great! It was raining the day we went so a few of the animals were inside and pretty still but that is to be expected. They have a huge variety of animals and it seems like there are new ones every year. The staff is very nice and helpful. We like to go on week days in the afternoon to avoid the rush on the weekends. They do a free day that is pretty sweet too. We usually go twice a year or so and are never board.

Small very well organized. Once you start to walk, you can see everything without map.

Few animals for each sections. I was there at 9 am sharp. Most of the animals are eating their breakfast or still sleeping. It is not a good time to be there at 9 am. Try after 930.

It's a bit pricey, makes the membership more worth it, but it's a fun place for families, good food at " The Beastro" , there are places to cool off, the train ride is a little shorter than I'd expect for the price, but still enjoyable. You can easily spend 4 hours with kids.

This zoo was great. I have been to alot of zoos in the US and Hogle was one to come back to. Even in the winter they had a bunch of animals out and about. animals from elephants, giraffes, to tigers and seals. The zoo keepers were great too, they were out and about getting the animals to interact with them to come closer for people to view and also to educate people on them. great place to bring friends and family to look at a bunch of animals for a couple hours.

It's not terrible, not great either though. Pricing was pretty decent. Particularly on the day I came because they were giving discounted (read free) admission to people with base access. Even without this though the prices were pretty standard for visiting a private owned zoo.

The zoo itself was pretty clean. And not unnaturally crowded. Animal conditions were overall pretty good even for the larger animals. The primate, bear and sea mammal exhibits were particularly well done.

The one exception was the "Small animal" building. Here the cages were rather small even for the animals being housed. There were also signs all over the building saying to please keep quiet since the enclosed area acts like an amphitheater. Yet children were literally screaming and running all around the inside the building and none of the staff said a word. My girlfriend and I had to leave because the amount of undisciplined children everywhere was giving us a headache.

The "Wildlife Theater" was alright for a free show. However, I could have done without the bad slapstick humor, and random roster running back and forth.Yes they thought it was funny to have livestock running behind the speakers. The owls were probably the coolest animals they had but the large Horned owl only had a single appearance for about 30 seconds.

It's also not a large zoo. At only 42 acres it's one of the smallest zoo's in the country. By comparison the Denver zoo is almost double the size at 80 acres. Both of these are tiny though compared to other major cities zoo's such as Los Angeles (133 acres) or the National Zoo (162 acres). As a result though you really won't need more than about half a day to see everything you want.

In conclusion it's not a bad zoo. I would come to check it out once every other year. Beyond that I can't really see coming back as you'll get the same experience with little variety or new things to see.

Way more expensive than it used to be. It was also really crowded and it was hard to find parking. A lot of the animals were sleeping, but I can't blame them. It was really hot. The most active of the animals were the monkeys, polar bears, grizzly bears, and the new red pandas. The viewing areas into the enclosures are way too small for the amount of people that were there.
