My company had its summer party here and we had the park all to ourselves. The only problem was they closed the ape section and reptile section which was a little disappointing.
Ok but rules for wearing a mask outside extremely stupid
Went there for my birthday with my family and had lots of fun
Lots of fun! A little small, but I believe the prices reflect this. This is a great place to bring children.
Nice zoo. Well kept very clean. It s just that the community animals like zebra, ostrich, boars and elephants look very sad. They look healthy and well taken care of. I believe they will be happy if they are free but they won t get the care and attention they get here. Don t know how the African savannah animals feel when it snows. I am sure they are not wild rather brought up somewhere here. Other than that, human amenities like parking, toilets and food are arranged very well. It s worth one visit with friends and family especially if you have kids. I found the lion seals the only animal that are interactive. Definitely spend sometime there. The kids will love it.
Lots of animals to discover. Kind of disappointed that most were either outside hiding in their habitat or asleep. Didn't get to see the red pandas. They were curled up sleeping. If you go, either go early or later in the day. The middle of the day is nap time.
It was very cool the poler bear was running around and swimming and I got to see the lion roar.
Excellent presentation of exhibits, loved the aquarium.
Love going here! Always a lot of fun, something new every time I'm here.
The zoo is a great place to take your kids to get out of the house. There is tons to see. My favorite is the red panda and the others! Have fun and enjoy!
Haven't been for a few years. Nice changes. Love the water area for the kids to cool down.
It was a really nice well kept clean zoo itsthe 4th I've seen
Had a great morning at the Hogle Zoo! The animals were very active.
My favorite part was the bird show. Also asked an employee while he was eating his meal where the dipping sauce was and he answered was much appreciated! :)
Gorgeous and rare cats plus the cute red pandas. Best time to go is right after zoo opens or right before it closes. Don't miss it!
Perfect size for young children. Lots of entertainment for the kids around the animal habitats. Awesome awesome :)
I live in California and visited the zoo back in 2014 because I have a family member who used to work there and wanted to show me around. It was always exciting to hear how passionate she was about these animals and I could definitely see it with the rest of the employees working with the animals. I have been to many zoos before in California (and big ones), but I felt so captivated by Hogle zoo. I appreciate that it is a smaller zoo because I feel that having a bigger zoo makes it difficult for all the animals to be well taken care of. These animals really seem to be well taken care of and that is way more important to me so I'd happily go around the whole park five times without hesitation. I would definitely come back to visit and would gladly bring my future children to see such an amazing zoo.
This is great zoo for Utah! They occasionally have a free zoo day which is free admission into the zoo. They have a fun little train for the kids that costs $2.50 which isn't a bad price for a neat experience. We fortunately came during a show at the Rocky shores exhibit with the sea lions and seals which was really fun to watch. Love bringing my kids here
Good small scale Zoo, you get what you pay for, kids love it and they do awesome deals all summer long, zoo lights in the winter are definately fun as well!
It's not the perfect zoo but it is very good. We spent a whole day there. The polar bears were totally amazing. The red panda was pretty neat as well.
The zoo is ok. There is a cool African safari area but the only have a few animals in it. They seem to not have as many animals as they used to when I was a kid.
It wasn't terrible but wasn't good there food is way to pricey I recommend bring your own food
Nice place very organized but a little small for my taste
They recently updated Hogle zoo and they have a red panda!!!
I love going to the zoo. It has changed a lot in the last few years. More open.
It's almost Spring and most of the animals were active, it was a fun day
Very fun and interactive. The big playground is a definite nice touch!
I enjoyed my visit this time because it wasn't crowded, understandably. Going into the baby Gorilla exhibit was amazing because I got to see the one month old baby's head while it was playing with its mother on the hammock inside its enclosure. Locking eyes with the Daddy gorilla as it sat next to the mother and baby was unnerving, knowing the sheer and raw strength these primates possess is intimidating.
The Bear exhibit was a memorable one: I was about to take a photo of a bear chilling out in the water when suddenly another bear literally plops itself down blocking my whole view. What could I do but say, "Well! I guess I'm not taking a picture."
The Leopard exhibit was awesome, the baby leopards are too adorable.
The Lion, yeah he was sprawled out in the shade with one leg up against the shed just relaxing.
Take your time to visit each exhibit, read the origins and habitat of each animal. It's educational, including one of my favorites, the Tarantulas.
For as small as it is my daughter still loves to go and see the animals.
Fun place for kids and animal lovers. The facilities are well maintained and the animals appear happy and healthy. I've been to zoos in other states and other countries...Utah's Hogle Zoo is objectively in my top 3. I wasn't very happy about the lion drinking fountain being turned off, though.
This zoo is smaller but has a lot of attractions. It seems pretty clean. I hate that the food prices are so high because the admission prices are already quite a bit. Some of the animals have really small enclosures but others have huge exhibits. I like the new kid's area but I wish it was bigger because it's always crowded so we usually skip over it. We tried it the last visit and only got a few minutes in before there were way too many people. I hope they keep improving the zoo.
Loved the experience with the animals! The baby gorilla, and the lions, and sea lion show were the best part! We also fed the elephant. Totally worth the extra $15 per person! One problem though is masks are only "strongly recommended", and no enforcement of masks or social distancing. Other than that, awesome place to go for our 2 year olds birthday!
The snake collection used to be fantastic in the 1980s!
They had a Gaboon Viper, forest cobras and a spitting cobra! Now, the collection has dwindled to a false water cobra and maybe a few Eastern Diamond Back rattlesnakes. So yes, I am an avid fan of exotic venomous snakes. But as of 2015, when I was there last...I have been disappointed. I did like the siamese crocodiles, though.
This zoo is the best! Many of my good childhood memories are from this place. It is a really fun family activity!
Fun place for kids and a fun activity for the whole family
Nice but small zoo. You can see most of the exhibits in just a few hours.
Fun place to take the family. Just wish they would have given a discount if you show up with only a hour till close. Nice exhibits and beautiful animals.
Ticket prices of gotten a little out of control for such a small Zoo but they take good care of the place.
Great bird show, the carousel was another big highlight for my littles.
The zoo was free for military today. We are so grateful for their kindness! The zoo was really disappointing. What happened to all the animals? I took my grandchildren today, I used to take my children. The zoo has changed so much. It's sad in some ways but I think zoo's are a thing of the past. Five stars for letting military come free and for your staff. 1 star for the zoo itself.
What an awesome place to visit. I was really enjoyed seeing those beautiful and lovely animals.
We love the zoo! Utah Hogle Zoo is clean, modern and full of interesting avtivities!
Fairly broad range of animals, lots of places with fans and misters when walking around in the heat. Food has kind of high prices.
I love these place! All the animals are so beautiful!!!
My real rating would be about 4.5. but they don't let you do that. If I had reviewed the zoo twenty years ago I'd have given it 2. But they have made many huge improvements over the years. Im not going to take points away for the price because I know it costs a lot to properly care for many of the zoo animals. I only see a few things that could be improved. One is I think the great apes enclousures need to be enlarged. Especially the inside since they spend a lot of time there during the colder part of the year. The other thing is I think there should be more drinking fountains. Other than that I am pleased with how the zoo is making an effort to take better care of their animals.
Great place to take the family. Very clean and with the scheduled appointments to get in it wasn't too crowded. The COVID19 precautions seem effective with plenty of room between crowds. The zoo has really improved over the years with bigger more natural environments for the animals instead of small cement cages. It was a great experience for us
Perfect day for the Zoo. We love the new animals and habitat changes that keep happening. Certainly not the zoo our generation grew up with. Love it.
We went here while on vacation and had a great time. They even have Red Pandas!
Always loving coming to this zoo. So much fun and lots to see. My munchkin always loves coming here.
I think it's a little pricey, especially since you have to pay for everything inside seperately (merry-go-round, train, etc), but we always have fun at the zoo. I highly recommend getting the pass if you plan to go more than once in the summer. There is a good variety of animals we are almost always able to see (we go in the morning). It's small enough that my 4 and 2 year olds can walk the whole thing in a couple of hours. My kids' favorite part is the splash park so along with packing a lunch I bring extra clothes. It's a great way to end a hot walk through the zoo
I haven't been to Hogle Zoo for quite a few years and I was impressed with the changes. The new enclosures seem much better for animals and visitors. I went with young grand kids and they had a great time. We saw a polar bear swimming laps (with flip turns!). The giraffes were prancing around the savannah, and the baby gorilla was hanging on to Mom's arm while she walked around!
Enjoyed the zoo... they had strollers to rent which was nice. It was really hot but there were fans/misters to help fight the heat a little and it was still a good time. A bit expensive for buying food and stuff, as expected from this type of attraction. The animals looked happy!
We were not impressed, spent a lot of money to see some sad animals. Their exhibits looked gross, and the water in most areas was disgusting. Really feel sorry for those animals in there. A lot of really disrespectful people. Not worth the money in my opinion. We definitely won't be back.
It's the zoo, what's not to love! Member pass is the way to go, can go, hang out for an hour or two, and call it a day. Better than trying to make a full day of it.
Love the displays, can feed giraffes, good lion display. Watching both polar bears trying to get to seal and sea lions separated by barriers. But the polar bears can smell them and get them very interested. Good for exercise up and done hills and ramps.
Well-kept, great variety of animals, wonderful programs, and friendly staff.
I went to Zoo Lights for the first time this year and had a blast! All the information I needed as far as what to expect was on the website, there were warming stations throughout the zoo, and Santa was so sweet and stayed just a little longer so we could get a picture with him. The staff was super friendly and helpful and the Lantern Animals that were on display this year were beautiful! Not very many of the animals were very active by the time we got there, but the lights and displays and the few animals we did see made it worth going. It was also really nice to be able to pay just for Zoo Lights, as we couldn't get there until later in the evening. You'll definitely want to bundle up and plan to stop at the S'mores and hot chocolate stand!
Me and my husband and grandbabies and daughter and daughter in law and mom took the kids first time grandbabies saw the zoo it was awesome. It's been along time since I've been to the zoo .
We love going to the zoo as a family! The annual family pass is totally worth it for my wife and I and our little guy. It's fun to go at different times of the day to see which animals are up and about. It's just big enough to wear our a young child but small enough to see it all in a day.
Great variety of animals! Decent prices and large enough threat even busy days aren't crazy.
They are one of our favorite summer activities. We have been told not to go on really hot days, but we did and it was fine. The animals were rather active. The security is top notch, the bird show is fun, and staff knowledgeable. Definitely worth a visit...even if it's a hot day! We have also been during the winter for Zoo Lights, and that is fun too.
Layout is good with its loop allowing to visit all animals with low risk of missing anything. Restrooms and food available within easy reach anywhere in the zoo. Animals are healthy and the exhibits both clean and informative. Wish it had more exotic animals but for family fun its a good place.
