They have really stepped it up since I was a kid. The habitats are much better for the animals

Love it here, we get a booster pass every year and it never gets old. Nice get away with the play area and water area for the kids.
We had a great field trip. Thank you Hogle Zoo. I especially liked seeing the informative veterinary notes on some of the enclosures explaining the ailments and treatments of some of the animals.
The Hogle zoo is so fun and such a great learning experience.
Love the Hogle zoo, the annual membership is a no brained if you live in the area. The staff is great and there is always something new and exciting!!
I've only been here for the Zoo Brew nights. It's fun to do maybe once or twice during the summer months, after that you've kinda seen it all. Zoo brew is awesome though, no little ones, adults only. It's in the evening usually between 7-9pm depending on the time of year. Drinks are $5 each regardless of what you want. They have many different beer vendors scattered throughout the park , they also have red and white wine available for the non beer drinkers. No hard alcohol. You buy drink tickets at the gate or there are people around that park that sell them. The beer and wine vendors do not take cash or card, drink tickets only. It's best to bring cash to buy tickets, not all of the ticket vendors have credit card processors on them.
It's a very fun zoo, and a great place to learn about animals and their place in our world. Definately worth a visit.
Me n myne love the zoo n everything about it! I want more zoo n an overnight
Its a smaller zoo takes maybe an hour to see it all hope they continue expanding it
Super friendly staff, knowledgable and really careing for animals and humans!! even the people visiting were nice, great family atmosphere. Great place to walk off some calories and enjoy some well cared for wildlife.
Always love the zoo here. It's clearly making money because it's expanding and cleaning up nicely. They had zookeepers and volunteers at nearly every exhibit to answer questions and tell neat facts. Specifically in this section, they have a few new momma kitties. Bonus, the tigers we're awake also.
Love the zoo!! Go with patience and kindness in mind. Its slow moving since covid!!
We love going to the zoo, the membership is so worth it.
Great place. Loved the animals. Lots of walking. Wear comfortable shoes.
We have a pass, and love using it.
Great place to take the family and a couple of visitors when in town!
Well its super fun for kids and adults im you like animals and have cool toys
It's a good place to go with the family entrance pricing are cheap and the shows are fun for the whole family
A great fun experience, would come here many more times
Like the new improvements but the train is lame and the animals need to be out more
We always love the zoo. Take a train ride and watch the bird show. Sad about the polar bear that died.
Pretty nice zoo, lots of stuff closed because of Corona but that's not their fault. I was here for several hours and the majority of the animals were sleeping the whole time
Great place to spend a few hours. Go right at opening or at about 330 for the slowest traffic. The bird show is entertaining.
Not enough animals, no reptiles, . Needs improvement
Not the biggest zoo ever, but it is a nice place to take kids.
The zoo has great enclosures for the animals, we got to see great animals in action today. It is alot off fun.
Good city zoo. The enclosures strive to be natural and animal friendly.
Very clean and accommodating. We love the design and of course the beautiful animals! We all can't wait to go back.
It's been over 15 years since I visited this zoo. So much has changed. It is definitely set up to cater to massive amounts of people. There is a splash park that my kids loved. And there are plenty of cool off stations for the hot days. The animals were pretty cool, too.
Was on hols in SLC last week, visiting from Belgium. Went to visit Hogle's during their last "Winter Wednesdays" which was FOC. Goodness me, those huge crowds!! Not sure I envisioned that when wanting to have a "relaxing day" at the Zoo. Definately not when there were lots of children who were constantly tapping (read : banging!) on the windows of the animals' cages! When small kiddies can't read the signs which are all over the Zoo, one may expect that their parents may teach them NOT to do so as this causes stress on the animals. Unfortunately not... I've even witnessed Mums who were tapping those windows together with their children! Where's the respect towards the animals and plain decency of certain adults?
The Zoo itself : I may be biased as I'm from Belgium and in our Zoo's there are very strict regulations on the size of an animal's confinements. They're pretty big to huge to give the animals the required space. (by Belgian law).
Although I got to hear different opinions about Hogle's prior to visiting, I felt quite at unease having to witness how small most confinements/cages were Sorry to say!
Plus, that very loud "Choo-Choo Train" riding around in circles all day where the African animals are (giraffes, zebra's, ostriche, etc.) : surely certain animals must become neurotic by that!?
Why not re-built a railtrack that covers the entire park, but only rides at the outside lines of the Zoo? Personally, I believe the animals would benefit from that.
From all Zoo's I've already visited I was overall quite disappointed in Hogle's.
Reason : either expand the park so the current animals would get more space. Or if not possible, reduce the amount of animals and give them the required, larger space. They deserve it!
There animals weren't really out and don't seem the happiest. Can't bottle them with the 90+ degree weather.
I fed a giraffe, then sat and waited for my fam because I didn't want to deal with them until we had to leave. It was alright.
Such a perfect day at the Zoo last week! I can't wait to go again.
Loved it, apart from some places being closed due to covid - 19 risks. Had a great time with family.
Family friendly, pleasant employees, great exhibits.
Don t expect any social distancing to be happening. Im not sure if the zoo or the customers are to blame?... it s just unfortunate that we all can t work together, during a time like this.
This place was lots of fun, even in the middle of a snowstorm. Virtually every path is wheelchair or stroller accessible. The animals were surprisingly active. The foxes were fun to watch play chase, we got to see a big python eat a rabbit, and sea lions and seals were racing around the water with their eyes closed! Bring your own stroller because they charge for using theirs. The restaurants smelled insanely delicious. My 7 and 5 year olds did not complain about the amount of walking involved (and we back tracked a bit) so it's not too bad. Can't wait to go again! What an adventure!
This is such a fun place to come and visit! Even during such odd times as these with the pandemic, they have done a wonderful job helping the visitors feel safe and still have an enjoyable time. The animals are well taken care of and we're so fun to see! I would definitely come again and see all the amazing animals!
Great zoo for Utah. There s plenty of animals of all kinds and it s laid out well. Doesn t take long to get through it all. It s no San Diego zoo, but really great for Utah.
Had a great time at the zoo today with my family. It was clean and in good condition. Wasn't too busy because of the time of year. Go on a warm day in the winter if possible to avoid the crowds.
I went here after 5pm on July 30th 2018 and received $5 off the price of the ticket. The weather was perfect, no big crowds, I seen all the animals including the adorable red pandas and took some amazing photos! I look forward to coming again!
My nephew Gage worked for the zoo so I took my granddaughter there and she absolutely loved it. Thank you for good family fun.
Everything is awesome except the train ride. Otherwise, great day out with the kids!
We had been on our daghters 2nd birthday. She loved it specially the train ride.
I've been here on two separate occasions. You can tell that the animals are treated very well here. They have a wide variety of animals to observe and view.
They have a small train you can ride around the zoo on with your kids. My nieces and nephews loved it! My personal favorites were the bird show (sounds a little lame, but it's seriously awesome!) and the reptile house.
What a great way to spend and afternoon with the family in Salt Lake City. I took my 3 year old there and we had the time of our lives. It was quick and easy service to get at ticket and get checked into the park. Once we were in, it was easy to move about and to find what we were looking for. All of the displays were clean and the staff was professional.
We had a good time here. They have changed a lot of things around since I was here years ago. Fun for the kids to see all the animals. I have been during zoo lights as well which is fun as well.
Nicely maintained zoo. Enclosures could have been bigger.
Zoo lights is a new family tradition, we all loved it.
I was excited to take my 1 year old to the zoo but was very disappointed to find that a lot of the animals weren t even available to see because of COVID restrictions. The website said nothing about certain exhibits and animals not being there. If it did then I would have waited to take my 1 year old for a time when he d actually be able to see more animals. It s also disappointing that tickets were still $19 even though half of the zoo is shut down and a lot of the animals weren t on display. They should at least offer a discount or lower prices if they aren t even going to show a lot of the animals and close down half the zoo. Or at the very least, they need to list out on the website what is still available to see and do. The only things I really liked was the fact that the zoo wasn t crowded and that masks aren t mandatory.
So just in case you are wanting to go during this whole pandemic, here are some things to note that the website doesn t tell you: There is no polar bear, orangutans, or gorillas. The entire reptile & bird exhibit was closed off (this is where I was most excited to take my baby because he loves birds), the play area was closed off and there s no shows.
We went in the winter the zoo was basically empty of people and we still got to see a ton of animals. My boys loved it
Good time with the family. Too about four hours to see everything. It may take more if you have young ones. They have a play area.
The yearly passes pay for themselves if you have kids. The train ride gives you a great view of their Savana.
Watch the see lions and elephants being fed or catch the bird show. Don't forget to ride the carousel.
Fun for the whole family.
Went early in the morning there was not a lot of people and got to see all the animals.
Great family time, lots of good exercise and education.
Had a wonderful time here. A little on the small size but still very nice.
The weather was awesome! The bird show was phenomenal! They have these art pieces made out of plastic from the ocean to bring awareness! I love the Hogle Zoo!!
This is an amazing place to get away and enjoy the animals
Beautiful place to spend with the family, so that children can have fun and learn a little more. You will have a long haul so go early. Inside there are many shops and also some games so that the fun is to the maximum!
For the kid in all of us love the shows was able to see sounds animals make and learned a few things, always entertained by kids never know what is going to come out of their mouth. It was fun watching giraffe feeding And riding the train.
Wild animals are not supposed to be in a Zoo! Please, don t go in there.
Boo lights. Fun for kids. Loved the harry potter maze. Fun lights.
It was a great day at the zoo. The paths were nice and cleared from snow. I had my snow boots on, but my brother-in-law did just fine with only his tennis shoes on. Most of the animals were out and having fun. That was really impressive to me because of the weather. It was cool to see how many animals got a Christmas tree, as well. The monkeys cracked me and my husband up so bad. They were so playful. The tiger was absoultely gorgeous too. My cute little niece said he's scary but when we explained he can't get her she was in awe.
Always love the zoo, but you need to remember to make a reservation.
