Zoo was very clean and well kept. Grandkids love going to see the animals and ride the train.
We always love the zoo and decided to check out the Family Night last night so my husband could come as well. Unfortunately we left with two crying boys because the Small Animals house was closed at 8 with no warning. I hope there was a legitimate for this, not just security wanting to leave early but irregardless, a warning upon entry or something would have been nice. A few other things were closing up early too, mostly food vendors.
We had a great time bathrooms are so clean nice food staff are so friendly
While they have made some major improvements over the last 6 years, they still need a lot of work!
First, the parking is a joke! Second, The only animals that seem to have a decent amount of space to run are the zebras & giraffes. All the other enclosures are really small. I have been to a lot of other zoos and they take hours to walk around and see all the animals. This one takes about an hours to see all the animals, in the summer. In the winter, you aren't able to see a lot of the animals because it's too cold out for them. My kids have been to this zoo and other zoos and when we are in the Salt Lake area, we ask them if they want to go to the Hogle Zoo... they say no because it's too boring! They would rather go hiking up one of the canyons or go to Liberty Park.
Great zoo. Couldn't do as much due to covid, but everyone was still very friendly and the animals looked like they were very well taken care of. The habitats were clean and nice, and the viewing platforms were accessible enough to see all the animals without making it seem like they were on display not the biggest zoo I've ever been to, but it was very nice!
Bird show and feeding a giraffe, what could be better?
Small expensive and not to many animals, go else where
Clean, not super crowded, food was okay. Animals were cool, most were sleeping.
Maybe we hit it on a good day but all the animals were out and very active. Even saw one of the lions try to stalk and try and catch a bird that landed in their enclosure. The train ride seems like it just goes in a big circle so we opted to just walk instead of pay the two dollars a person to ride it.
I haven't been here since the remodel. I really like the changes. My only complaint was that we picked a day that was really crowded.
Really fun. Every with a lot of people, you can still see everything.
This is a decent sized zoo with plenty of awesome attractions for adults and children. While covid restrictions have curtailed certain aspects, there's still plenty to see and do. Pricing is moderate, but well worth it! I would love to someday visit when covid is a sad memory and the weather is a nicer.
It was nice I just want the animals to have bigger enclosures.
I went to photograph some of the big cats and getting there early in the morning was great. The handlers had just put some food out so the cats were pretty excited. The Red Panda exhibit was also great because there was nothing to impede my view of him. We didn't know we would be there during spring break so it was very crowded but that was not a problem. I love to see the zoo filled with families.
What a wonderful place to come and enjoy animals....the nice ones are in the water lol
Awesome day out, up close encounters with many of the animals.
We went to the zoo today & it was great! I absolutely loved the way you purchase tickets. Made it very convenient during COVID. We aren t huge mask wearers so as it s not required we didn t wear them throughout the entire zoo. We wore them to enter the zoo & to the exhibits that required them. It wasn t crowded and people were very away of the 6 feet apart which was nice all around. Most of the animals were asleep but my kids still loved seeing them so that s all that matters. We try to come to the zoo a few times a year & this time was probably the best due to not being so crowded. I highly recommend going during Covid or not.
Amazing zoo they should keep it open late because the animals are more active in the evening. Definitely recommend they have tons of animals to see. Prices aren t too bad either.
I liked this place because it had an amazing atmosphere everyone was so kind. The animals were so beautiful and cute. The lions have baby cubbs.
We had a great time generally! Some of the big animals were not visible which was a little disappointing. We also didn't realize that you have to buy tickets for the train ride and they weren't selling them anymore a little while before they closed. We had a sad 2 year old so next time we go we'll for sure do that first thing. He loved the carousel and rode 'Simba'. It was a fun day all around though.
Awesome for kids hot as hell expensive as hell bring your own food and drink keep kids busy with the animals
Beautiful and it's well managed. Always has new project to update the place. Our family has so much wonderful memories in this place. Thank you bringing the Joy to the families!
The hogle zoo is a very fun and interesting place to go and visit. It was something as a kid that we as a family would go and really enjoy seeing animals that we normally wouldn t see.
Now that I have kids the hogle zoo has changed a lot. They have updated and added different kinds of attractions. They have streamlined the walking path and they have made a huge amp theatre that put on shows for people.
The thing I really like about the zoo is that with a lot of little kids it is expensive to go but, they have in the month of November free Wednesday. November is a busy month and is usually extremely cold but, it is worth it. Most of the cats like tiger and snow leopard were still out and about.
Why I didn t give it 5 stars is it is too expensive for me and my family to go on a regular basis.
The zoo is fantastic if you get there right at 9am, the later you get there the less and less fun it becomes. The animals are out and about in the morning and there aren t nearly as many people...you can even park right out front. It s the only way to do it! Extra pierce of advice is to go on a Sunday morning.
Very expensive and over priced,I understand that need to account for up keep maintenance and food for the animals, but really 18$ for adults, the toy I bought my son was 25$ for a toy that blows bubbles, come on Hogle really,a bubble blower for a 4 year old,I'm not the only parent that felt that way but I will probably be the only one who says anything about it over priced I'd say so.Nex time I take my son in about 4/5 years I'll bring my own toys.by the by he did have a great time interacting with the other children there.
Great zoo. Always so sad to see animals locked up in small cages for our entertainment, I would feel guilty giving them more than 3 starts for this reason. But it is a great zoo as far as zoos go
We loved our experience during the yellow phase of Covid19. It is so well organized. There is one way traffic, spots posted every 6 feet for easy viewing but also social distancing, hand sanitizing stations and reservations for less people.
It was really fun they had a lot of animals and there were bathrooms, water fountains and food places everywhere that's why I'm rating this five stars. The only problem I had was the price of every thing fries were six dollars! And the toys were 24 dollars and the stuffed animals were 18 dollars!
Utah's Hogle Zoo is amazing! It's AZA accredited so the enclosures are all at a very high standard. It's always beautiful and clean, Zoo lights are a lot of fun, and all the workers are really professional and nice.
I'd highly recommend going and if you can get the annual pass (it's the best deal!)
Always a good time I've had the premium plus pass for almost ten years now it's a great zoo with an even better staff
Visited recently. Enclosures have improved immensely.
Great zoo! Very well done exhibits with a wide variety of animals.
Fun zoo, great family outing. The new exhibits were pretty nice to see.
I love the zoo! They have a wide variety of animals and it seems like the park is always expanding. If you can, try and get there right when they open. The crowds are much higher smaller and the animals are usually quite active. Don't forget to wear sunscreen!
They have made the zoo a much better place for the animals as well as the people.
Great zoo, although they wouldnt let me pet most animals..
The exhibits are nice. There is a small area for kids to run through water shooting up from the ground with a large "old faithful" that gushes every few minutes if they really want to get soaked! There are some indoor areas to get out of the sun and some mist sprayers that are convenient for cooling off. The only downside is how small the place is. You can your the entire thing in 90 minutes and you're pretty much done.
We went to Boo At The Zoo at Hogle Zoo, the lights were really pretty. It wasn't that large of an event as we had hoped, not many trails open. But it was great because it wasn't too crowded, although that could've been attributed to the poor weather. The kids still had a fun time!
The animals are so fun! The bird show is awesome and the splash pad is a blast. All around great experience.
Fun place to spend a few hours. This is a midsize zoo. Well kept but only so much you can see.
Fun place to take the family! There are misters and shady places to go in the summer so the heat isn't so bad. Best time to go is in the fall.
I and my kids enjoyed the zoo. However, this is the second time I've gotten a parking ticket going there. Salt Lake needs to have better parking, and post clear signs where you can't park. There was no "no parking" sign where I parked, and yet I still got a ticket. Guess it wasn't a free day after all.
Pretty nice regular size zoo. The gigant mechanical insects they installed is a fun addition. Kids had a lot of fun. The zoo seems to have a major need for funding. Everything within the premises is outrageously expensive.
It's been a while since I've been there but I'll have to go back sooner. It is awesome.
Christmas Zoo lights is a favorite tradition of ours!!!
This is a zoo that has grown and changed quite a bit over the years. We like to take the kids here once a year, which seems about right for us.
This has been one of my favorites as long as I can remember, I loved it as a kid, now my child is taking a liking to it
Great exhibits. You can see everything in 2-3 hours.
The zoo had very few people which was nice. The cold snowy weather didn't drive any of the animals inside either. It was an enjoyable experience.
If you like seeing wild animals trapped and confined for our viewing pleasure this place is for you.
Love the zoo employees are very nice a place to take the family
A very nice little zoo, a lot of trees block sun and mist spray, good place for kids to run around.
The hole zoo has recently made a lot of changes that are clearly benefiting the animals. This zoo appears safe, humane, clean, and well cared for. Over run with children, the 21 only nights are the best time to go and really get to see the animals.
Fun and Friendly Place to Visit Animals we do not see every day.
Nice zoo. A bit small, but they have quite a few things to see and the gulley in the middle is very pretty.
The Conservation Carousel (an extra $2) and water play area (free) are two of my kids' favorite things to do here. The carousel has so many different animals to choose from (i.e. an anteater, praying mantis, pracoxk, and polar bear). The water play area is so great for cooling down on a hot summer's day. They have staff and volunteers all over to answer questions or to tell you about the animal you are visiting right then. We love it here.
Half the time I was spaced out. Where are the red pandas?
Really cool! The food place up there has good food.
Well, I do not have a lot to compare it to... and I know out of state there are some better zoos, but we really love Hogle Zoo.
The bird show is great. We always get some great display somewhere... last week we were entertained for about 10 minutes by the bears wrestling. And who would not enjoy watching the little penquins running around and swimming as if they were putting on a show? The carousel and train never tire the young children. Although some concessions are overpriced, you can find some ice cream treats for under $2. The cost of year-round passes is unbeatable for families... it pays for itself in about 2 zoo trips. In reality we go a couple of times a month. And we don't have to feel obligated to stay most of the day to get our moneys worth. Great zoo!
Fun sized zoo with a lot of charm. When I was there the polar bear interacts alot with visitors... like stalking and surprising but still fun to see!
Pretty good zoo. It is quite small compared to my home town zoo but what they do have was nice and the kids loved it. Not sure we could go too often as the kids saw most of the zoo the first time we went. But still a great place
Love there free days every last Wednesday of the month!
Great place to spend the afternoon, if you frequent there a lot getting a pass is worth it!
this is a great place and my kids and I enjoy going. they have good animal exhibits and my kids love the splash pad and playground in the middle it kinda breaks it up for the kids from just walking around. last year they did host our company summer party and it was really fun and the staff was really nice! I have also been to zoo lights and it was also fun. I gave 4 stars because it is a bit pricey both at the door and throughout the zoo. I would recommend taking your own water bottles and snacks.
It was a nice place to visit and walk around. But even walking slow and seeing everything, my husband and i were done in under an hour. It was much smaller than we thought. Admission seems too high so we probably won't go back. It was nice to visit once though.
Love the Zoo and how they have improved it over the years. I'm so glad the bird shows are back!
