We have been members for just over 2 years now. This zoo is constantly upgrading and using the small space it has to be the best there is. The staff and volunteers are always very friendly and my kids can hardly ever wait to go back!

We've been going to Hogle Zoo for years. We always have a good time, and they always seem to be changing things up a bit here and there. They've gotten rid of some things I really liked (the heated building with weird bugs, spiders, skunks, etc and the hill where you can pop up with the meerkats or whatever they were for example). But I also like the improvements they've made. There are plenty of animals to see up close which helps you appreciate them more. Food is overpriced, but that's to be expected. The kids love the carousel and the train. I know Hogle Zoo is constantly compared to other Zoos across the country (San Diego most often) but it's the closest zoo without having to go on vacation and I'm glad it's there.

This zoo is really impressive for being in a smaller state like SLC. If you live near it, the family annual pass is great and gets you discounts inside the park as well as access to special before/after hours events not available to the public. We live close and we ve been probably 15 times this year. With the annual pass we don t feel the need to see everything every trip, so we go and only check out the highlights for that specific day and go home.

Tickets are $20, which is a bit much, and they have terrible customer service. The vast majority of people who work here are a jerks. They are not very accommodating to people with disabilities. Also, the animals are almost always hiding, so it's boring as well.

There were practically no visitors. We saw all the animals, but not sleeping, but moving - apparently they got into lunch. I really liked it. The zoo is small, but enough to nestle in the animal kingdom completely.

They appear to really need a bigger budget. Certainly the only place you can see monkeys and giraffes in Utah, which is great, but relative to the scale and biodiversity of zoos in other states, pretty abysmal.

This zoo is wonderful for what it is! Although quite smaller in size than other zoos I have been to, there is a really nice variety of animals here that will have you in awe of their beauty. It took us a full afternoon to get through the entire thing. There is something here for everyone to enjoy, from a train ride around the giraffe and zebra enclosure to feeding the giraffes and bird shows. The gift shop has a lot of really great things, and the bathrooms are well kept and clean. Admission is affordable and they offer discounts for kids, senior citizens, and others (can't remember off the top of my head). They also allow outside food and drink in, which is amazing compared to most places like this! Overall a wonderful and very affordable day of fun for the whole family to enjoy! We will absolutely be back!

Because it's early spring, some of the shows and things aren't running, but the staff was present and courteous and we love seeing all the animals, especially the giraffes and sea lions. We love that there are multiple places to look into each enclosure so the animals, particularly the cats, are visible.

Me and my kids went there on 5/22/16 and my kids just love the bird show we went to. All the new attractions they have now. We have been going to the zoo for the last 5 years and the park keeps getting better.

Pretty good zoo. I have been to bigger snd better ones so it is hard for me not to compare. Hogle zoo has a nice variety of animals and are continually improving and updating which is important. We have a nice visit once a year but there is not enough there to draw us back more than that. Definitely worth a visit though and makes for a great way to spend a couple of hours.

Small zoo with huge amount of charm! Way more big animals than you would expect from the size (elephants, giraffes, zebras, ostrich, lions, gorillas, various other primates, rhinos- even seals and sea lions!) and you are much closer to them than you will ever get at a bigger zoo. Two staff members stopped to share about the animals and everything looked well kept. In January I saw all the above mentioned animals out and about, so seems worth it any time of year. At $15 for an adult off-season ticket it was reasonable, too. Spent a great 3 and a half hours!

One of their best years yet. It's clean and the grounds are kept up. The dinosaur attractions around the zoo are a bonus. The new set up is genius. Should've done it along time ago and I would've liked the zoo.

Everything is open and the crowds were non-existent on a Friday afternoon which was great for us. We saw all of the animals and we rode the carousel and train with no lines basically. Nice not having to wear masks outdoors too. We made reservations two days before and didn t have any issues. We went for our daughters 3rd birthday and had several family members join with us and everyone just made their own reservations.

Very clean. I think we will have to go back when in the morning when the animals are more active. We went around 2pm and a lot of the animals were sleeping, plus it was hot, so that makes everyone drowsy. We saw everything in about 2hr- 2 1/2 hrs. It was a fun day date. A very good place for a family outing.

Hogle Zoo is great. We were able to see red pandas, otters, and giraffes up close, and the polar bear was super active, but I was disappointed that even with the reservation system the Zoo felt too crowded. Not much different than visiting pre-pandemic on a weekday. I wish they would space folks out even more.

I was at the zoo yesterday. Mask signs everywhere but went in without just fine. BUT...
The problem came with the souvenir building.
It started pouring rain so we figured we d take our toddler in to get a toy and let the rain pass.
There was no visible sign saying masks required (plus the fact you are not enforcing them at the gate with all the signs posted)
We walked in and one of the four girls standing by the door said we needed a mask to come indoors and we could buy a disposable one for $1.
I said we just won t buy anything and started to turn to walk out. That girl proceeded to do a kicking motion (as in kicking us out) and they all started laughing. I turned around said I saw that and I m going to report you. She then did a back of the hand go away gesture and kept laughing .

She had dark curly hair and glasses and was working the door around 4pm.
I will be calling managers, reviewing you on Yelp and google and On Facebook pages reviewing company s treatment.
If this is how you consider it okay for your employees to be treating your guests I will make sure people know and stop visiting.

Every time I visit, the animals aren't out & exhibits are closed. Worst is when I brave to cold for "zoo lights" and the bridge hasn't been lit up the past 2 years I attended. Lights are out or not completed. Kind of a let down. ... I did however enjoy the "Zoo Brew" minus the long lines. These should be more frequent so they don't over pack the once a month events.

It has been years since I visited the Hole zoo. I am very impressed by the changes they have made. The habitats are much nicer than I remember. Definitely try to go in the morning or in the evening if you want to see the animals active.
