I made the mistake of starting my associates at my local community college. Had I started with University of Phoenix to begin with I would have saved myself a lot of stress and money overall. You cannot find more streamlined, well laid out and organized programs anywhere. The design is simple and easy to navigate, each course has the same layout. You cannot find better service and support from the staff. You have an assigned counselor, with a direct ext and email to reach at anytime for the rare issues. Very rare. The programs are designed for student success. I felt supported the entire time. The breaks the school offers for any reason what so ever are game changing for parents. The program is setup completely for you, you can see where you are and exactly what courses are next to complete your program and the order, to follow your progress. You do nothing but your work. Instantly enrolled in your next course, as long as you passed. One class per 5 weeks. I can not recommend them enough for degree programs, with the least possible stress.

This is the worst school do not give them your money. I did my fafsa and they took so long (from October 2016-until September 28, 2017)making feel out form after form that they missed the deadline and I was not able to get my pell grant. They told me that I did not meet the requirements to get a pell grant for the 2017 year even though it all he same info. This school is horrible and I'm looking for a new one.

THIEVES. PERIOD.

THIEVES. PERIOD.

These are the most dishonest crooks in the business of higher education. 3 true stories. My sister earned 99% of the Masters of Education degree, including student teaching. U of P staff told him she wouldn't graduate because 100% of the students she student taught didn't like her methods/personality. She sued and won but it cost a lot of money and time and heart ache and lost wages.

A friend of mine completed 99% of the Nursing degree, then was told he wouldn't be allowed to graduate because a few of his fingers didn't work due to an accident he'd been in a few years earlier. He sued them and won, then he turned over everything they did to the DOJ's Americans with Disabilities Enforcement Center.

My brother in law was taking classes in the Accounting major in at U of P. They told him he'd have to wait 2 years - that's 24 months - to take the next class required. He transferred to Regis University and never looked back.

DO NOT GIVE THEM EVEN ONE OF YOUR DOLLARS!

Just a note for future Students or anyone who may even think about attending Phoenix online....DONT! . If you are in the IT field and have a current degree that is older than 5 years, they will not transfer your IT credits over to your new degree. You will NOT be notified of this until after you have started your new course and then have to pay at least 2 weeks of class participation in the course, over $600. Also they will threaten you and say that if you don t pay, you will be sent to collections. Rules are Rules. Shame on you University of Phoenix! and thanks for wasting my time and money! I knew I should have never trusted you as it was too good to be true!

I have had a great experience with UOP. From the beginning they were very helpful and made sure I had all the information I needed to get started and had help every step. Every question I had was answered within a couple hours if not minutes and tuition was very easy to cover with their help and they also made this very easy. There was a lot of reviews about issues with payments but that is not something I ever had a issue with. I would high recommend UOP if you are considering online school.

Its college at the end of the day. Friendly staffing but classes need to be more consistent. Some come with endless chapters to read to answer just a few questions . I have been in other classes that are fantastic with the read and answer questions as you go. There really isn't time if you are working full time, and taking care of kids to wait on teachers to explain what they want for assignments so you are on your own in most cases. I have taken some classes they expect you to learn whats being taught after just reading about it in a book and then doing it on your own, not very realistic. Just food for thought.

I was very apprehensive about returning to college to continue my education considering it had been 15 since obtaining my ADN. UOP has given me the tools and resources to succeed and I am so happy I have decided to do online learning with this university. The ability to have resources and actual people to talk to through difficult times has made the difference for me to succeed!

This school is trash. I did 2 years of online classes supposedly to finish my bachelor's. When I was tired of the over expensive program that had ton of technical issues I dropped. Supposedly 5 classes from a bachelor degree. Tried to transfer to a real University near me and found out every class they put me was an elective and no core classes. That's 2 years and over 30 thousand I have to pay back that qualify for nothing. I have to start over completely if I want a degree. On top of that they are not recognized by the businesses as a valid college. You can't get a job with them on your resume unless you want to scrub floors.

I have been a student at the University of Phoenix for 3 years and counting. This is an experience that has been worth having. Granted, I have had some ups and downs but, the ups stand out way more! I am glad that I made the decision to put my education first and the University of has helped me realize that!

I'm enrolled in this school now and I'm very upset with the financial aid office I am really starting to see that this school is a scam and I'm looking for a attorney because I think they are trying to take my disbursement. I started school in September and everything seem ok by October 2017 I receive my 1st disbursement $6800 with no problems my next scheduled disbursement date was May 2, 2018 but on May 1st 2018 my disbursement date change to a new date and that was May 8th I call on May 2nd and the advisor told me it's was a new process and they just showing me my anticipated date so i was still confused about what was happening and i talk to another advisor she tells me oh you will she your disbursement in 1 week then May 8 comes and I call and they tell me oh it takes 1-2 week from the disbursement date ok here it is 1 week I call and they tell me oh we don't have a diploma on file for you so we need you to send that in and it will take about 2 weeks to you hear anything WOW!!!!!! So now I'm like forget this school they are a freaking joke!!! I think they done stole my financial aid and making excuses of why I haven't received it By the way I only have 2 more classes left until I graduate and they are telling me that they are just now seeing I don't have a diploma on file bogus. If you don't want to be rip off go somewhere else besides here.

This university has many pros and cons.

This university has many pros and cons.
Simply put, it is a good fit for very self-motivated, independent students who like focusing on one class at a time. It worked okay for me.

[Disclaimer: I am still currently attending. I cannot answer to application of my degree post-graduation yet.]

Pros:
- Flexible Schedule allows for work & study (financially superior to attending physical classes)
- Competitive pricing

Cons:
- No video lectures... for audio/visual learners. Largley, most learning came from just reading large amounts of textbook material.
- Lacking instructor availability. It can be difficult to get help from teachers in a timely manner.
- Fast classes. The pace of the classes can be a pro and a con. For me it was a con. Some of the classes had too much material jammed into too little time. Be ready for 6-week cramming sessions in some classes.
- Lacking practice. So in these classes everything becomes a test. Homework/practice work where you can learn and receive a grade without huge pentalty for mistakes is almost non-existent. Everything you get graded on will hurt your final grade badly if you are still learning and make mistakes by submission deadlines.
- Digital Grading. There is something to be said about having a teacher evaluate your work and give some credit to good process. Several classes only grade outcomes, not processes; it's all or nothing. So you might have made a small mathematical error that costs you a couple percent off of your final class grade. Ouch.
- Greater likelihood of cheating. There is a good amount of honor-work in these classes. This means since you are very independent, and since tests and assignments are not proctored, there is plenty of opportunity for cheating. Add this to the time-vs-quantity-of-material pressure, and there is added incentive. Be careful during group projects to check for plagiarism by your partners. If you think you may be overwhelmed and tempted to cheat yourself, perhaps consider a university with longer classes than 5-6 weeks. The fact that cheating occurs means teachers may be out of touch with the needs of their students, being that some will get super good grades by cheating while others struggle. It may be difficult to adjust classwork and pace according to honest students' needs.
- Online classes are technologically more difficult than physical classes. You need to be very capable of learning new programs and interfaces quickly. Some, like McGraw Hill, are not intuitive and come with little instruction.

TLDR:
Basically, University of Phoenix is an excellent choice if you are very self-motivated, independent, honest, and on a budget!
It can be frustrating if you need help or tutoring for difficult concepts. It can be difficult if you learn better from lectures than from reading copious amounts of text. Sometimes there is too much material in too little time, so beware of being partnered with cheaters or being tempted yourself. Finally, you must be good with a computer, or you'll struggle.

I do like this university; I plan to complete my masters degree, start-to-finish, with UOP. But it is certainly a very different experience from the one typical educational institutions provide.

This school was not what I thought college would be like. I wrote a paper and put the word Bone Thugs and Harmony 80 times in the essay. I got a wonderful grade. But when I researched the paper and cited references, but received a very low grade. Then the website to upload your video and presentation to was defective. I failed the class, at this time I was told that I would have to pay to take this class again. Now that I have terminated myself from the school. Now they want me to pay 1080.00 and I had a student loan. No I was not working while attending school so how do they expect me to a pay out of pocket to pay for another class or I could not continue my education until the class was paid for and now I have to pay 1080.00 when I had a student loan and pell grant.. Please go to a community college or university. Because they charge a lot more than a school in your town or anywhere.

I am currently 2 classes away from completing my Masters in Elementary Education. The educational component has been outstanding. It relates to real life classrooms and gives teacher candidates confidence and abilities to integrate technology and a team approach into teaching.
Most of the facilitators I had were open to various learning and teaching methods which matched UoPX's curriculum philosophy . There were a few facilitators who were diffucult to work with, but isn't that part of life? UoPX integrates team assignments into the curriculum, but essentially most students just choose a part of the assignment and post at the last minute. I have been lucky to find orher classmates who take these assignments seriously and we actually collaborate. In my opinion, UoPX should take a look at how to incorporate communication within team assignments into the grading system.
I would recommend UoPX online. I have enjoyed the curriculum, I have made several friends along the way, and I will bring a lot of the information I learned into my classroom.

I took one course, in pursuit of additional credits toward my CPA, in an area of accounting that was not conveniently offered by my local Community College. I had no problems with UofPhx and everything was delivered as promised.
.
Extremely rigorous 5-week (!) curriculum covered everything I would have learned in 14 weeks at local Comm. College. Other students were serious and thoughtful. Weekly readings, problem sets, discussions were more detailed and thorough than I would have expected, and I learned a lot!
.
Only problem was the computerized final which had a hiccup and a typo or two and lowered my grade below what I was expecting. There was no recourse, or way to remediate, and the final grade was acceptable in any case.

Somehow this " University " allowed somebody to fraudulently obtain student loans in my name. I don't know if someone at the school was in on it or if there policies are to easy, but they allowed a criminal take 5000 dollars cash and never attended a class. After seeing it on my credit report I asked them about it and told them it wasn't me they sent me a packet they wanted me to fill out and I did they said that wasn't enough. So as you may know student loans are backed by federal board of education ( hence why they will hand them out like that) so now the loan has defaulted and is ruining my credit (which would be great if it weren't for them). They basically want me to prove I'm innocent instead of them proving I'm guilty. it's especially frustrating since I went to college and paid out of my own pocket. They have victimized me and I'll pay for it the rest of my life and no one seems to care...

Terrible please do not even waste your time. I am a student here and I had to go through hell and back to get into the school due to an unusual enrollment. I have done my fasfa and they still haven't cleared my funds for the second disbursement. I have been calling the financial aid office day in and day out with no response or no update. As a student this is very sad. Because if that is not clear I could be charged the amount for these classes from May to September. Just got off the phone with the finance department and was told that I am being very unprofessional!! I don't see how when I have been dealing with this for a month now. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR YOUR MONEY.

The classroom platforms are easy to use and the academic content is typically good, but instructors are clearly only there for an extra paycheck and some of the material is outdated. Instructors regularly don t respond to messages from students and don t exhibit any interest in actually teaching and guiding students and classes along. I have been screwed over more than once by an instructor who does not grade assignments on time or respond to messages for guidance and clarification which then pushes back resolution often until the end of the course which is only 5 weeks to begin with. I do not trust my academic future here and would not recommend.

Best school ever. Ever since I was a little boy I have told my parents I wanted to go to Phoenix. I had also wanted to be in the commercials. But, when my parents said no I was heartbroken and I thought my life was over. Until the day I applied without my parents permission. I got in and now I live in my parents basement. And now I'm hoping to live their for the rest of my life. Best decision ever.

This was the worst experience of my life... not only did it tank my GPA when my last teacher graded with her * subjective * grading but any time I had a question.... it took days ( they have a 48 hour reply period) I was lucky if I got a reply in 4.
My last professor was so horrible that I tried to drop the class and take it another time. I was told I couldn't do that.
I was so stressed out when I took my classes and the lack of help... made it worse...
on top of that with the acception of Bio101 I had no core classes even though I stressed to them I wanted it out of the way.. thankfully I got out before the end of my degree... 5000+ down the drain

The environment is not friendly to students that a...

The environment is not friendly to students that aren't former military, In addition some of the guidelines are ridiculously strict. For example, students are expected to do over 5 hours of coursework a week and work and maintain a family. AS well i do not like the fact that they sell you on being a school that works around your busy schedule, yet deduct points for being late to class as if people cant work over time or do not get off work at different times or have to travel far to campus and sit in traffic for two hours just to get there by 6pm which is rush hour. I half of the time do not make it to class until after 7:30pm and i explain this to every professor yet they still deduct points. Which has impacted my GPA significantly. I complete ALL of my assignments, but attendance weighs 20 points of your 100. if you miss 2 points (2 hours) a week that automatically brings your highest possible grade down to a 80. Then you factor in the points that may be deducted based on the professors preference on how they "feel" your assignment should have been completed and composed. Additionally, if your assignment is 1 day OR 1 hour late, expect a 10% late penalty deducted from your grade. The system is set up for students to fail, especially those of us who have other things going on in life. And it seems as though we have academic advisors for no apparent reason whereas you complain about a professor or an unfair practice and nothing is done about it at all. they just say oh, well do you think it will be better for next class??? what??????

I would like to comment after reading several responses. I'm a UOPX 2012 graduate and I had an excellent experience. I understand everyone have their opinions about UOP but, this does not mean that it's a bad school. I worked hard for my degree and I have to say it was challenging and nothing was given to me. As far as the cost, yes, it is very expensive however; I knew what I signed up for and I'm sure everyone else knew as well. We all were required to take the FASFA entrance and an exit counseling and it was fully explained. Again, my experience was great and I actually learned and made long term friends from my learning team groups. For those who are researching and seeking an online university to attend, please do not listen to all the negativity and experience it for yourself. If you find out it's not for you, the good thing is that you are able to transfer your credits. I'm currently employed with a government agency as a treatment specialist in the psychology department and my Degree from UOP played a major factor in getting selected for the position. Good luck and God Bless in your endeavors!

So I will say; take my review with a grain of salt...

So I will say; take my review with a grain of salt- my experience happened a few years ago; but looking at the most recent reviews- I can see obviously much has not changed from this school. I chose to write this review now because they recently tried calling my phone asking me to come back to school- sparked my interest to instead, tell them I am not coming back and write a review instead.

I was working two part time jobs at the time and attending UoP in my local area. I found out about the school through one of my relatives who, wanted me to get a college degree and heard from friends that it was a "good" school. So naturally, I applied and didn't think to look up the reviews until after it was too late... but we will get to that.

My enrollment councilor screwed me over financially. She told me I was approved for a $5500 grant- I found out after I got an email a few months later that- in fact- it was not a grant, it was a LOAN, major difference as I was trying to avoid loans at all costs.

When I found out about the loan- needless to say, I tried to work things out with the staff but I was out of luck and freaking out over the misinformation given to me; so I chose to leave UoP until I could figure out the financial situation. Fast forward a month- and sent debt collectors after me- I only took two classes during my entire time there and my loan I thought paid for those classes? I still don't know the full story behind that one but regardless, I owed them $1300 apparently so I just told them to buzz off and sent them the money not thinking anything of it. Except- my dumb self should have questioned them further because of that loan I had- because I also had to pay the loan off too for actually around that same amount. I will never find out the story behind the debt collectors- I'm still under the impression they scammed me because the loan should have took care of both the classes I attended. Regardless...

After I left the school- I went and did some research only to find out too little too late that it turns out- their degrees cost an arm and a leg to obtain- but it turns out their degrees aren't really even worth anything to employers! It sucks getting a ton of student debt; happens to the majority of the population- but what sucks even more than accruing all that debt is finding out it basically was all for nothing. Employers laugh at the degree- it's a pointless piece of paper coming from UoP apparently.

I was pleased with the teaching in my local area and the teachers were awesome! But that's the only positive thing I have to say about UoP aside from teaching me to look up school reviews and their degree worth before applying for the school. Stay far, far away from UoP. Not only is the school pricing high up there- but turns out the degrees aren't worth anything and in my experience, that staff were either untrained or flat out lied to me which almost financially killed me at the time since I was barely pulling over $10K a year.

I laugh because what inspired the review was me getting a phone call asking if I'd be willing to come back- I'm curious to know if the school is hurting that bad to the point where they are trying to market themselves to former students to please come back despite previous experiences. No UoP, I will not come back- I do not wish to spend tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars only to find the face of my future employers laughing at it when I present it like such an accomplishment has happened- like putting blood, sweat, and tears into four years of my life for a piece of paper that turns out- might as well be burned it's so pointless. Stay away from this school- you will find other schools with much better programs, possibly more affordable, but mainly- a degree worth something.

This school is a regionally accredited college, which means they uphold the same standards as all accredited universities! It is not a diploma mill as those colleges are not accredited. I am just finishing my Bachelors of Accounting degree and besides the teamwork aspect I have no complaints! You pay more because you are paying for the convenience of attending online at a full time pace while maintaining the rest of your life. You get what you put in people!!

I stopped going there after they royally messed up my finances... 3 different people did nothing but blame the other one. I was going for accounting and business management. After finding out that they hired within I decided maybe that school wasn't capable of teaching me anything. Now my credit is fd and I have 10k in debt with nothing to show for it. I became a GM without them, so now I know college is unnecessary in life.

Attending the University of Phoenix as been an amazing and flawless experience. I thought going back to school and keeping a work life balance would be difficult, but the program is set up to help you accomplish success! I enjoy all the classes I have take and meeting people across the country. I also love the weekly discussions which offers a different perspective from multiple cultures. I would definitely recommend UOP, it is a program for everyone especially working adults!

I'm only writing a review because I'm very annoyed. I'm not even, nor have I ever been a student here but I did inquire about they're online RN to BSN nursing program. Unfortunately there's nothing on their website for you to view information about the program without putting in your information and that was the biggest mistake I ever made. I had eight missed calls from them in 24 hours. I will say, that's the biggest turn off when a business blows up your phone, all because you wanted a little bit of detail on one of their programs. My advice, add more detail to your website because if you keep calling over and over to people it's very annoying definitely makes it look like you only care about a sale.

The University of Phoenix has allowed me to finish my Bachelor's degree on my own terms.

I loved the new online classroom. All of the instructors were easy to work with. They all made themselves available and were quick to answer questions.

University of Phoenix is not that difficult of a school. As long as time is spent on the work and it is turned in at a decent time, there shouldn't be any issues. All they require, for online courses, is that you log in two times a week and make a post that counts as participation. As some of my fellow students have said, the group assignments are the worst and the most frustrating. I can't tell you how many times I've had to spend the entire night doing the portions of the assignment that another student was supposed to do. This current class I'm taking has no groups or group assignments and it's been my best class so far. This school is very expensive but considering how hard it is to get classes at a community college and the lack of time I have to go to a community college, University of Phoenix is worth it. I've never had an issue with my Admissions Advisor, Academic Advisor, or my Financial Advisor. All of them have been great, left me alone unless I had a question, and contacted me if something came up.
The school does have surveys after every class to hopefully weed out the more rude and worthless teachers and advisors, which I'm hoping they do take to heart. If you're enrolled and miserable, at least take these surveys and be honest.

NOT THE SCHOOL FOR YOU!!!! IF YOU WANT A REAL EDUCATION, GO ELSEWHERE!!!!!
The experience that I have been through trying to get my financing when it was promised to me is a joke! Each and every time, over the past year and a half, my financing has been held up for one reason or another with no valid reasoning. Not to mention, the actual education is a joke. As nice as the professors/teachers/learning coordinators are, the education you receive is only what you put into it. Absolutely EVERY question to EVERY answer on the worksheets or quizs, can be googled, papers can be written with the help of the internet, ALL without even opening the e-books that they have provided. The e-books are written by the school, in fact all the "learning materials" are written and provided by the school, unless they are borrowing from an external web site. I have a feeling I would have been better off ordering a degree from a cracker jack box.

So far this university has been there to help and assist. Even if you feel like there isn't a question to ask, they will still have someone contact you to go over some topics where you will eventually ask. I am very pleased and will recommend it to peer or individual who has an interest in online school.
