The main campus (Muckleneuk) library is easily accessible for most unisa students. Requested books has a decent waiting period if you place a deadline on the order. The library has recently received a few major upgrades (new bathrooms , aircons are functional and new flooring).If you work during the day all the parking is open to use after 16-00. Helpfull librarians are available to assist till the closing time (20-00). Please note my experience consist of weekdays only .

UNISA never answers their emails. I applied for my H Degree, it is a year later and I still haven't heard from them. I had to send my documents to them 8 times. Now I have to apply AGAIN.... When you go to their regional offices, the peronnel are racist and extremely rude. They don't want to help.

They don't awnser the phone.
I'm holding for an hour already and still there is no awnser...

CURRENT STUDENTS who complain that they can not reach facilitators etc: You are paying to study via correspondence. This is not Wits or UCT where lecturers are available to discuss matters and work through issues. My experience has been very similar but I was warned when applying. Remember there is a REASON you are paying one third tuiton (as compared with said universities). STOP COMPLAINING. You pay for what you get. Done. I still reckon it's a good university where distance learning is concerned. Thanks

Waiting for exam results why the delays. Bad support from this place. It leaves the time to study so short.

Impossible to get a reply via email. Have emailed four times and not got a reply in months. How can you possibly run an institution like this?

Someone needs to have a close look at their procurement department. You have to pay R500 for the opportunity to tender and you still have to download the tender document off the net. Takes one hour to register as you have to pay only by card in order to enter only to listen to a regurgitation of the tender document and people that cannot answer questions. In a recent tender for a Project Management unit, the tender document stated that you required an entire team of professionals of various disciplines but at the tender meeting it was discovered that you only have to bid for project management only. Seems to be misleading people to submit incorrect bids so that pals can get appointed and other discqualified. SCM representatives get aggressive with persons asking questions. This corruption has to stop

While their courses are good, the administration is shoddy. The last exam round also saw major discrepancies in results, with high achieving students being failed. Something is clearly wrong.

They are the absolute worst, they take your application money then they never answer the phone or email you back... 1 star is even too much, apply anywhere else but here

So disappointed at this University. I don't know why did I apply here really. Wish I could go back to my former university as they were so professional and efficient. This university from staff horror. They do not respond to any emails you will wait for days just to get a response. They don't answer calls. So unprofessional

Well my wife had to use crutches due to a accident she had at clicks but we had to go as my son was graduating the help we received from the staff in helping my wife with her crutches was beyond description they could not do enough for her if only more shops and public places would take Unisa as a example on how to treat differently ablled people maybe Unisa should start a course on how to best help people with disability once more thank you Unisa for your help eish you the best

Edit: Been a student since 2016.curriculums are world class and kept current and the etutor and academic support is great; Examination is extremely efficient and professionally managed. 5+ stars! My experience the past 4 years are otherwise good and I am a happy student. Fees are competitive for a distance learning provider and still affordable with very reasonable terms. And I am happy that we didnt suffer disruption (apart from staff strikes) from political interference at my local campus. Kudos to my fellow students who ignored some political trouble makers trying to recruit for disruptive and non productive protest behaviours which damage our resources and infrastructure, while there are better and efficient student channels to follow to negotiate better terms for us as students. there are a few things where UNISA can really do better. On campus student support can still do better, but mostly friendly and helpful.
Work more efficiently. Ask questions up front so we can go to the correct division immediately, and not waste time in queue. I give 3 stars because some staff are incompetent in payments and dont know how to work a POS card machine or and let the batteries run down so the machine power down in the middle of an authorised transaction. Working with the student portal get 3 stars because the servers dont have capacity on deadline submission days. You can really improve your IT issues, since a 99.9% uptime portal is required as our student learning backbone! 3 stars for the public website re-register and new registration and applications. the website is not user friendly enough for the spoonfed school leavers to find their way around without help from unofficial social media channels or mommy intervention. Lack of general communication to orientate newbies and teach them to read their screen, so they can find their way around get 1 star resulting in too many spoonfed babies who cannot adult yet, dragging mommy onto campus to come and sort the incompetent admin bunch out, and disrupt other students because they didn't receive their books yet or to complain the phone doesnt get answered. . Everything is there, provided online for students. Now the one apple rotting the whole cart of fruit: all the staff at headoffice switchboard. Please do everyone a favor and retrench all of them as redundant and replace them with a single friendly AI robot!

Online application is not user friendly which is disappointing since this is what UNISA is suppose to offer. Resolving issues with administration personally is equally useless. Spent hours at their office in Parow without any success.UNISA should look at their numerous shortcomings, seriously!

Been trying to contact UNISA for more than a month, filled in a call back on website and today it is just impossible to get in contact with anyone at UNISA, the numbers on the website does not work and no one ever answers the reception

Very bad. Its very proffesional and pathetic. Been trying to contact them for 2 months now about inquiries. They never answered and i did not now what to do when registrations were open. I missed registration thanks to nobody answering.

Most unhelpful staff. Never get any feedback via online mediums. Staff on site don't know anything and can never do anything more than what I can actually do myelf online via myunisa. The staff are completely useless and don't know the point of going there if all I'm going to be told is to log on to myunisa and do the same things I have been doing from home, just this time with a "student adminitration" person looking at me and when we get the result I told them we would, they don't know what to do or how to help me further. They tell me to find the invigilator. STUPID and annoying. Once I obtain my degree I am changing to a different university to further my studies as what UNISA offers students in terms of service is pathetic. Been to CPT branch as I relocated and they are even more useless, because their answer to everything is they have to send it to PTA and don't know how long it will take.

Lovely school to be. They have the biggest and best library in Africa, I love it. The environment is neat and the staff are doing well in terms of relating with the student either you are black or white. Oh, less I forget, the walk path along Preller street is like climbing a mountain but it serves me an early morning exercise .

Very poor organization of exams, no answer for emails, lost exams papers by Embassy of South Africa in Ukraine and no one responded for complaints.

It is really annoying how no one ever seems to pick up the phone on any of the given numbers on the web page. How are we supposed to get distance advise and relevant information with regards to registering or submitting applications??. I am really not impressed. For a "world class institution" your communication methods are pathetic.

The administration related to the institution is just sad. Students are not taken seriously, this is wrong. You send emails and call but, no response. It is just too sad that this is a big educational institution. I'm totally disappointed.

One of the best institutions providing good quality education indifinite of family background. Staff memebers assistance is perfect. The achitectural structure of the building in pretoria unisa campus muckleneuk it is wonderful. The institution has its ups and downs e.g. late study material delivery, etc....but my experience with such an institution has been wonderful.

People are always out here complaining about things but they never take time to put the nice things here...I would like to take time and say a very big thank you to Mr Mmope from the social sciences faculty, I'm almost done with my degree and he has been most helpful throughout...he goes out of his way to help people and very humble, he comes across as someone who loves his job and people like him never get recognition. I wish there was a bigger platform where I could put this on because I'm very impressed with his service. Thanks

Absolutely useless! It is termed distance learning but there no replies to emails and calls are never answered! Paid fees but I'm still not registered, student enquiries do not care about addressing important queries as such. Who do we contact in such situations? I have tried branches in three provinces just to get an answer but to no avail!! Extremely frustrating!

Love love love this campus because it has some of the best views in Pretoria.

This university is an admin nightmare. You never get through to them, phones go answered for days on end, no response to multiple emails. They will never take your situation seriously. They even illegally withhold results because they are too incompetent to update student account details for months on end.

I hate the service provided by UNISA.
I have missed out on 2 semesters due to their incompetency and I NEVER receive any feedback no matter whether my query is big or small.
Nobody ever answers the phones and neither do we receive responses to our emails.I always pay the huge bills on time but I am not in the least bit satisfied.I would not recommend anybody to join them in future and would be glad if they could just close down.

I completed my qualification in February 2020 and it still appears as qualification not complete. I have calling and sending emails no one is responding. I am trying to apply for jobs and this qualification is being requested. I am honestly disgusted by this

I am absolutely disgusted with Unisa. As I'm writing this review, I am on the phone trying to get through to someone but I'm left on hold. I tried calling 2 more times earlier today and I waited for up to 30 minutes for someone to answer. I was unable to access the myUnisa site to write my exam this morning, which I missed because of them. I am supposed to write another one this afternoon and still can not access my Unisa. This is unprofessional, poorly organized and just appalling over all. You receive absolutely zero assistance or useful information by any means. On top of it, this supposed "data for students" that Unisa promised to provide has yet to be received, I have been waiting over a week for it.

The service of this faculty is utterly pathetic, we call to inquire about registration and the woman who answered the phone did not listen to what I asked and dropped the phone while I was explaining that I just need them to check the student number

Unisa has given no help what so ever. I have been trying to register online and they always having problems with their system. I have called multiple numbers for assistance and I haven't received any as yet.

The university of South Africa is the biggest university in South Africa by enrollment and it gives opportunities to the local citizens and as well as international students to enroll themselves in this institution based on the qualifications.
The university offers bursaries to qualified students or maybe eligible students e.i students the meet all the requirements for the bursaries approval.
The university has campuses (branches ) within South Africa and each campus has its major course.
The university standard are very high.

The university offers courses such as engineering courses, agricultural courses, horticulture courses, medicine, teaching courses, linguistic courses, sports sciences, political sciences and many other courses.
The campus are very big and they have accomodations.
Besides most people complain that the university management does not care about it's students and they don't care about the stress and pressure that they cause or put on students. Even though with such happening most of the students remain focused and they graduate as best students in South Africa and the southern region of Africa. The university still produces quality graduates.

Worst university ever! Hence students take longer to complete their qualifications!

UNISA is the best distance learning institution that I can recommend to everyone that want to farther their studies.

Im so glad I am not the only one who feels so disappointed in UNISA,I should have graduated my honours in May 2017,towards April I was told I cannot graduate because I did not apply for credits!! I have always studied through UNISA,my first degree,postgrad diploma and now the Honours!! I would have thought they can do that automatically even though it maybe,till to date ,Its September in 2 days time,they still hav e not resolved this.I have made several calls,sent emails,and been to Pretoria and Florida,still no one bothers to attend to my query,This is the worst varsity ever.I cant even apply for my masters,I have wasted a year of not studying!

I have been trying for weeks now to get hold of someone at UNISA. I have even gone as far as trying every number I could find. Some of the numbers don't work, other phone just keep on ringing with no answer and the other lines stay busy. The one number I contacted was ringing and then cut out due to the duration it took with no answer. When it cut out I called back immediately and then that line was busy. How is this possible.......

How is one meant to succeed here if ones study material never arrives and the UNISA website never seems to work when trying to upload assignments. See screen shot as proof that the website doesn't work. One is also not able to get hold of anyone there to resolve any queries.

20.07.2018 Trying to register but the site is down again. As of yesterday not all my marks were finalized yet. Things keep getting worse and worse!

Honestly, show me another university which allows you to do your exams and assignments on the toilet. We all know that you do you're best thinking there. Unisa is a pushing the limits of education.

Very bad experience with this University, they are moving backwards at a rapid pace. Only mark assignments after the examination dates, when you need a remark you wait 7 months. Handbooks provided are incorrect and incomplete. It is really frustrating trying to complete your studies to better yourself with them. If you have any other choice don't choose UNISA! Would not recommend them at all.

Unisa is the best distance learning University in our continent, it teaches you the importance of time management & self discipline.

I've been trying to call 8 numbers since the 29th of May 2017, I have had no answer, lines either ring, cut or randomly say that the subscriber isn't available. I'm worried as I had a doctors note and next to my results it says 'Absent from Examination', unisa have not acknowledged receipt of my supporting evidence and I'm worried that instead of writing a supp, I will have to redo the entire semester and pay off that again due to no acknowledgement of my paperwork.

By far the worst University in Africa-that says a lot! No point in phoning or emailing this corrupt organisation as they simply do not respond. Who ever is thinking of registering with Unisa-dont! You will only waste your time and money with them
