After taking my daughter there for 24 years, I will never set foot in that hospital again!!!! Dermatology is the worst department for any kind of care, nevermind if they are challenged with a condition that is rare....they take a biopsy and give a cream...no out of the box thinking or compassion, or follow up...my daughter has been going through Hell with unexplained skin breakdowns all over her body...they stated they exhausted all there options? Really? I will continue to expose this department and hospital all the way up to CEO Dr. Wagner....this is unacceptable.....in addition to not pursuing an answer, they accused her of self infliction!!!!!!!!!! She is in a hopeless state.......

I went in for a hand surgery yesterday. I can t say enough about how wonderful the staff was. My OR nurse Brian was pleasant, comforting, and caring as were my two pre op nurses. The anesthesiologists John explained thoroughly my induction and had me laughing the whole time. My doctor is amazing, Doctor Charles Cassidy, he s gentle, supportive and thorough. And lastly, my post op nurse Dietra Forde was absolutely incredible. I woke up extremely nauseous and unsteady and she worked quickly and efficiently to make me comfortable and help my nausea subside. I would highly recommend this hospital. I am so grateful to have a staff that made me feel warm and comfortable in a nervous situation. Thank you!

Excellent PCP's and surgeons. For years, I loathed going to the doctor's . When I changed my PCP to Tufts, that all changed. Not only does he take all the time needed, he will take you without an appointment anytime you really need to see a doctor. I recently had a surgery that greatly improved my health & life. The surgery was flawless and enjoyed a short recovery time. The staff is top of the line and there is little doubt as to why Massachusetts has the best medical professionals in the country.

Happy Travels!

The cardiology department had us waitint more than an hour just for an EKG i guess they only had one person doing what needed to be done. The pediatric department told us it would only be a 30 minute wait. Someone should have at least came out and said something instead of passing by and looking at us over and over. If we lived around here the wait wouldn't be a problem but we live 45 minutes away. I figured out like 10 umizummie and bubble guppie episodes.

Let me start off by saying if you are looking for ...

Let me start off by saying if you are looking for a hospital to deliver a child, look elsewhere. I can only offer one personal, anecdotal experience but it was so absurdly bad that I hope by telling it some others will be spared. We chose tufts thinking it would be top notch and for all the pre-birth visits it was for all intents and purposes. During the birth we chose to go with an epidural and this was where the trouble began. The person administering the epidural was very rude and condescending to both of us. Once the epidural was set up though things were good for a few hours but then came to a sudden stop. She said it stopped working and we hit the call button. The nurses called someone to come check out the epidural equipment. Over the course of four hours, the equipment was checked 6 times. By checked I mean they came in, looked at the pump, said "huh" and left with it still beeping an alarm. At one point the guy said they were new pumps and they were still trying to work out the kinks. No one bothered to check the actual connection into her back, where it had actually popped out. For hours of her claiming it wasn't working no one bothered to check this. It was only noticed when her blood pressure dropped and she was rolled onto her side revealing a sizable pool of blood. The nurses gave each other horrified looks that they tried to hide (props to their professionalism, the nurses were great despite our overall experience) and said to call anesthesia now. They weren't able to come due to being involved in an emergency situation so we ended up having a natural birth.

Once the whole ordeal was over and we were brought to recovery, we were both beyond exhausted. We tried to order some food which was free and touted as being good to recover with during our earlier tours. We ended up having to call 3 times and wait over 4 hours just to get grilled cheeses and soups and they were impossible to eat they were so bad. Again here the nurses stepped up and at least got us crackers and peanut butter from their break room. Overall without the nurses this experience would have been terrible, basically everyone there that wasn't a nurse didn't seem to give a hoot about how our experience was going. Especially the administration and billing people.

EDIT: After getting the response below we tried to work out a better deal on our bill based on our experience. They did not budge an inch and we both regret even calling them back. We will have no further affiliation with this network and strongly encourage others to look elsewhere. A poorly run hospital with good nurses and terrible management.

My experience here for simple primary care has been poor. The physicians are great, but basic facilities like working wifi are lacking. This is something you expect in the 21st century. Sorely disappointed by my experience.

First off I will say the surgeons are great and saved my dad. However the actual management of this place is horrible. They didnt give him the right meds and sent him home to early. He had to go back 2 days later. They don't answer many questions and leave you in the dark. If you have a choice which my dad did not... go someplace else.

Surgeon's work, very good. Immediate pre and post op very good.
Surgeon's secretary never returned calls or emails. I had to call my ins. to find out if surgery was even approved literally 10 days before scheduled date. I decided to make my own pre-op appointment 7 days before my surgery, as she never called to set one up or even tell me I had to.
After surgery when anesthesia wore off, my pain went through the roof. Lots of calls and tears for 3 hours to nurse station before she called attending physician and he increased my .5mg dilauded to 4mg..quite an inrease. When pain creeped up again hours later, I gave nurse fare warning so I would not fall behind like before. Again, I was brought to tears with inadequate pain management. I am a 52 year old female with typical surgery experiences and never in my life had I experienced such poor care. In 24 hours i was given a total of 8 mgs of an extremely powerful Pain killer and never recieved a stool softener the entire time, even though it was verbalized to my nurse by the attending. That proved to be an issue without a movement until 4 days later. As an aside, the bathroom in my room not only had a filthy film in the sink, one like you might see in a dirty club or restaurant, but in addition the botton 3 rows of grout between the tiles were black with filth. The wall and floor trim were stained with splashes of fluid from God knows what. My family and parents have been in other hospitals in the city over the years and this one is filthy in comparison as far as the patients rooms are concerned.
Although the surgery was a success, my over all experience just aweful. I truly expected at least an equivalent experience to the other top hospitals in the city. Not even close. If it wasnt for the restrictions on my insurance I would never come to this place again, if I had to stay overnight.

Your adminstrive team is extremely rude and unwelcoming. I called three times at various times in day through out the week, thinking that maybe it was a rush hour/bad day. Same girl. Very dismissive and rude. I saw her on my appointment didn't even look up. I work in admin and applied for medical admin jobs, pretty sure you have to be a people person. Maybe hire someone who makes me want to find a new PCP.

The ER is the absolute worst!!! Almost everybody from security to management is extremely rude, unprofessional, and either need to be retrained or fired!

The security guard with the glasses and the dreadlocks is particularly rude and unprofessional. He does not have the right temperament for the job.

He and the blonde nurse that took me to the exam room lack compassion or even caring.

Not sure how this place is still in business.

Went there last night (Tuesday) - Pretty much everybody but the nurse I had was great. Doctor was knowledgeable and friendly, good energy. Staff getting me checked and evaluated early was great. The nurse... Well, I came in because I couldn't lift my neck/head and urgent care was closed. She acted like I didn't actually have an issue and wanted to spend no time trying to help - Makes me think they need to evaluate their own perspective on things. Anyways, got great help, some meds and ointment to take care of the swelling and some instructions for follow-up care that have worked great. Thanks again!

Excellent hospital, doctors and nurses alike. Doctors aren't uppity like the community hospitals, they answered my questions and treated like a person. I use the endocrinology dept mostly.

I've been here for Endocrinology care, after my medical group's inability to hear my concerns over insulins not working to bring sugars down, or going too low,and having to go to ER for dangerously low sugar. Saw Dr. Koshy, gave me insulin chart, discussed different times to inject. Already seeing changes! I have a neuro here too, for neuropathy. My husband comes here for the amazing care of the Neurology Unit under the care of Dr. Joel Oster. Cannot say enough good things about this Dr. Compassionate, kind, responsive and skilled .Has cared for my husband personally, always follows up, even in his time off. We are grateful for his attention to the care needed, my husband has uncontrolled epilepsy and Dr. Oster is working with us to get my husband necessary brain surgery. We consider this hospital an excellent facility. The nurses are fantastic, they're attentive and skilled to patient needs and visitors. I'm dismayed by the negative reviews posted , it's never been anything but first rate care here, from housekeeping to nurses, techs, etc for myself or my husband. Tufts gets 5 stars from us!

Took amazing care of my beloved sweetheart. Created a first of a kind surgery to save her from chronic pancreatitis, fed me when I visited, treated me as a visitor with extreme dignity. They are simply amazing, and I've never, ever been so impressed with any hospital. My sweetheart owes her new lease on life to their innovative care.

This is the worst hospital in Boston. The psychiatry department is the worst. Dr Snyder or something is not qualified to be a doctor. The social workers are no help at all. Especially Taylor on Pratt 2. They are all useless. They provide no help to their patients. They just let them languish. The nurses suck and the whole department is worthless. The department and all the people in it should be fired and terminated. I will hate this hospital forever and I wish nothing good to anyone of the people that work here. I would rather operate on myself than go to this hospital for treatment.

I can't comment on every single department in this hospital and I've heard lots of good things about their "floating hospital for children" This one star(wise I could give a negative)is for their thoracic and lung cancer team. I just wish to ask them this one question: What kind of hospital or human being will knowing let terminally ill patients suffer for weeks before seeing them and waited for months on giving treatment? My brother was diagnosed with cancer at Tufts in March and he couldn't get any treatment until July. He had a very good health insurance plan which should cover the cost for whatever the treatment may be yet you people keep mess up and reschedule his appointments from time to time, especially "thanks" to Dr. Lori Pai. This got to be the the worst place to go for cancer treatment in the state of Massachusetts

I was a patient for the last 7 days, I was admitted due to asthma and water retention. They got most of the water out of me but we never could figure out the reason for it? I'm hoping that there is no more reasons for another emergency visit due to water retention

Went into the ER to make sure I was ok. I'm 33 weeks pregnant and was having some issues. The ER Nurse sent me straight to Labor and Delivery because of the symptoms I was having. OMG the Doctors and Nurses are really amazing in Labor & Delivery. My Nurse Ashley was so great. My primary hospital is BMC but Tufts is awesome! So if your having a baby Tufts is the way to go. Thank God I wasn't in labor and they took great care of me and made sure everything was OK before discharging me.

The ER is great and tricks you thinking they are going to listen to you and help you. I have gastroparesis and feeding tubes. So far since being admitted I've been called a drug addict and asked why don't you just eat? I wouldn't have feeding tubes if I could just eat. I'm in so much pain. I didn't need this place to have mental pain added.

Finding my friend who was hospitalized here was easy, the information staff were very helpful.
However their website LIED about how late the Atrium Gift Shop was open till. Website said it closed at 6pm on day I went, yet the information desk said they close at 5pm. They need to change this!

You ve got to be kidding me, every time I go into this hospital to use the ladies restroom there is no paper towels and sometimes no toilet paper. Where the hell is the hospital administrator on this? These are hygiene necessities! DO YOUR JOB TUFTS!
No wonder the nurses protested.

I've been here since October 17th. My baby was born extremely premature at 26weeks on10/22/17 the level of care her and I have both received this entire time has been A++++, out of this world. So much support, so much knowledge, I am just so impressed and so appreciative of all our nurses and Doctors. Such truly wonderful staff. If I could give more than 5 stars I would.

I could write a book on The worst experience ever. I would advise you to take someone with you who will be able to speak for you if you are incapacitated. I would not ever go alone to this hospital ED. Be prepared with a snack, some water and a cool cloth or earplugs while you wait and wait and wait. Don't expect the staff to feel your pain. if you are on the floor, they would walk right over you on their way to a Hospital Magnet meeting.

Ordered and bullied my wife into unnecessary xrays and tests and then months later send bills for 500 dollars completely out of proportion with any value provided. Did a biopsy and prescribed a steroid creme that resulted in an infection. Better off not following their advise.

Great Doctors but horrendous office staffing!! I've been going to this hospitals for a couple years now since I work close to the area but I cannot take it any more. There are better options. I guess I have to do my research and find another hospital with a more friendly and efficient office staff!

DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL IF YOUR CONSIDERED A HIGH RISK PREGNANCY!!! What Tufts put me through emotionally and physically was awful from the first appointment till my last I cried everyday. I met with HIGH risk doctor, and a heart doctor who told me my twins both had holes in their hearts which he was wrong oh and let's not forget to mention the genetic counselor they assigned me who shouldn't even be in the field she was the most unprofessional heartless person I have ever met she was also wrong.I ended up at another hospital for a second opinion and I never cried after that!!! It's a shame I spent the first six months of my pregnancy at tufts the sadness this place caused me is something I don't want any other mom who's pregnant to go through.I do not recommend this hospital I wouldn't take my dog here. I now have two beautiful 8 month old babies and no heart problems or surgery!

Recently went for a follow up appt; received a bill where I was charged $361 for a "pediatric clinic visit." I can understand the charges that were applied for certain tests being done but I literally talked to the provider for 2 minutes before having the actual test done. No further discussion was done after that. I also paid $25 for the co-pay at the time of visit and from my understanding, the co-pay should have been the cost for the office visit. I spoke with a billing rep who told me "there are two separate charges for the office visit." Ridiculous. There needs to be more financial transparency on medical charges from the hospital's end being made so suprises like this don't happen.

The patient care, medical and nursing stuff were absolutely outstanding, particularly in the Surgical Intensive care Unit. They saved my brother's life, and I will be forever grateful for their caring ways.
But the hospital is the most atrocious place to visit a patient. More so if you are a handicapped person. From the parking - very poorly signaled - to the locked doors making it compulsory to take egregious detours, to the unavoidable staircases - try to negotiate them with a walker! - passing through the confusingly signaled corridors while trying to find the signs for the right ward... the whole place is a maze (a mess!). And to make the picture complete, the Main Entrance of the hospital is closed on Sundays! They might as well put signs: Visitors keep off!
Five stars for medical care. MINUS FIVE for what the patients visitors are
subjected to.

I am extremely impressed with how personilzed the care is. The Pediatric staff and nurses are mostly seasoned people and are always willing to go out of their way to make the experience the best possible for the family and the children. The Floating Hospital is a small enough place that you feel comfortable and know the staff, yet big enough that 99% of what can be done in the bigger local hospitals can be handled here with a high level of professionalism.

On April 7, I spent 12 hours in the recovery room waiting for a bed after a procedure, I include the times spent there (10:57am to 11:00pm) lest I omit any names. This pertains to ALL nurses on duty during the stated time period . I cannot say enough about how hard they work( physical and brainwork)- all tasks requiring extreme care and accuracy. In particular, I would like to comend Janice, Lois, Kerry and Kelly. Because these are these are the nurses with whom I came into the most extensive contact they are included by name, however, I saw every caregiver in that high-energy setting carrying out their tasks,( (even some not so pleasant) with efficiency, positive attitude, and real concern for each patient!!

I may have had some less-than-stellar experiences with other areas at Tufts during this recent stay, but the 5-STAR nurses in Recovery could give lessons to all staff about efficiency and LISTENING!!!!!

i have had okay to good experiences for myself as a patient here but recently what i witness has been horrible. my grandmother who is over 80yo got submitted to the ER and sent up to the 7th floor. no nurses or doctor came to check on her. we were told that there were to be a procedure done on this day so she cant eat past midnight. that procedure day, we kept asking for the time on the procedure. staff keeps saying they dont know. +80yo lady is starving only to find out that there is actually postponed to the next day. all that starving and dehydration for nothing. ridiculous! my grandmother also has on those yellow socks for fall risk. when she got up to use the toilet, some blonde tech person came. nobody helped my grandmother back to her chair. tech person just came in to stop the beeping and thats it. whats the point of the yellow tag? they going to just let an old lady walk back by herself??!! horrible ppl on the 7th floor. they need better training or should be fired.

edit: they also had no apologies on the postponed procedure. they only came to tell us that it got postponed to the next day and left. didnt apologize or hand a menu for my grandmother to order food right away knowing that she's starving

If we could give ZERO stars, we would. Horrible. X-rays improperly read requiring family member to return *multiple times* as radiologists kept finding new fractures, one in the neck. Extreme painful for patient to keep going back and forth, not to mention the cost associated with parking etc. Absolutely the worst experience. Weekday wait at its worst was over 2 hours. Don't go there on a weekend or holiday. If we could set our own bones, we would do it. Management listened but the fact that these issues exist at all is outrageous.
